N97 mini contacts?

How do i copy my contacts from my sim card to my phone? or how do i look at my contacts from sim card so i can dial to them?

Your settings are correct, but the only thing that causes this problem, and there are hundreds of posts on it are multiple entries . The fact you've entered another phone contact that works proves the point, your phone doesn't know the new entry, it's simply another number with data attached in the Name field. May be worth , as I suggested , checking  your contacts with Ovi Suite, and check they are all entered correctly, ie First name  and second name are in the correct fields and if a contact has a few numbers, that the one you use most often is set as default etc. It WILL be multiple entries, you just need to find it !
Good Luck

  • N97 mini - Contact Sort Company, Name

    Hello
my  N97 mini is for Business use and  I am using Mail for Exchange. Everything works perfect.
I synchronize Mails, Contacts, dates and tasks  with Exchange.
In Exchange-Contacts are, along with other contact details, for me the important fields Name and Company.
When I synchronize, these fields are copied correct to the N97 mini .
In N97 mini i want to display Contacts in alphabetic order, using the fields Company, Name
I cant find settings to realize this
    Can anybody help ?
    Thanks

I find this part of my iPhone completely weird.
With my Treo running Agendus I could see all my Contacts by their company name and the contacts name alongside. If I did a search by name or company got a result.
However with 4000 contacts in my AB/iPhone searching for people by their names is difficult. For instance, living in Wales, where Jones, Jenkins, Evans, Davies etc are very common names I could have 20 people called David Jones but only 1 that works for ACME plumbing.
Also I may want to speak to three people from Acme Plumbing, but I can't remember their surname.
At the moment my solution to this is to create Groups in AB and split my contacts amongst these i.e zip codes, company sector etc. Also I use the App ABContacts which allows you to see the Contact Name under the Company name or vice versa.
This is the one area where I really do miss my Palm Treo/Agendus

  • N97 Mini Contacts Creating New Unnamed Entries on ...

I am getting very annoyed at having to restore the contacts on my N97 back to how they should be. My phone syncs with Ovi (latest version) and Outlook 2007.  It does this fine but when I restart my phone, it creates a load of new enties called unnamed and duplicates some others but these have no contact details in them so are effectively blank.
So my issue is not with Ovi and synchronisation - well I do not think so.  I can sync over and over again, changing contacts in Outlook or on the phone and both locations update as they should.
The issue is then when I reboot the phone, these duff entries are added to the address book.  Only solution I have found so far is to connect to Ovi, select the phone before a sync happens, delete all contacts and then copy the Ovi version of the contacts back to the phone again.  This is a rubbish work-around.
Hey, what does that Kudos button do?

Here is another question then as this is still not resolved.  Can alnyone tell me where the contacts are physically stored on the N97 mini?  I have y-Browser and my theory is that the file (if there is one) must be corrupt in some sort of way so that every time the phone restarts, these blank contacts are created.  If I can physically remove all the contacts and then recerate them via Ovi Suite, this might cure the issue.
    Thanks.

  • Nokia N97 Mini Contact Bar Web Feed

I see that the X6 contacts bar has a "web feed" option. I read somewhere that the N97 had one too (too bad mine fried). Is there one for the N97 Mini? Can't seem to find this.
    Please help!
    Thanks!

    Hi,
I beleive you are using MS Outlook.
    Try the following workaround.
    Manual sync
Open Nokia Ovi Suite--> Sync--> Sync option--> Uncheck the sync automatically everytime you connect the device.
    Then Sync--> Sync now--> Contact,
Repair the "pst" and the "ost" Outlook files as in the following location.
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\SCANPST.EXE
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\SCANOST.EXE
Right click the above mentioned exe file and 'Run' it.
    NOTE
It's adviced to take a back- up of the user's Outlook folders to avoid any loss of information.
Check with Microsoft support pages for more information.

  • Add contact detail to a message Nokia N97 Mini

Hi, I bought a Nokia N97 Mini in January, and I still can't resolve this problem: I don't know how to add a contact detail to the body of any text message. I have had several Nokia phones, for years, and I remember that if you wanted to send a text message, lets say to a friend and this friend asked you for someone else's phone number in order to send it you just start a new message> insert content> contact detail, then you just chose the contact you'd like to send the phone number of and that's it. Now, I can't figure out how to do it with my new phone. Sorry if I sound silly, it's just that I don't know where else to look for. Thnx!

  • Managing contact groups in E71 and N97 mini

It seems that the E71 does not support groups like older models used to: apparently groups are listed alongside contacts, and it is no longer possible to see and search groups directly. I'd like to see my groups straight away (e.g. clients, business partners, friends, etc), open and search them, rather than finding them among the contacts. Actually, this setup misses the whole point of classifying contacts into groups!  What on Earth was Nokia thinking?
Is there any way around this? A firmware update or a third-party app?
Also, how are contact groups managed in the N97 mini? Is it the same, or does that mobile finally allow you to see and search groups directly?

    chanchan05 wrote:
I am not sure on the e71 how to view groups separately, but on the mini, there are two tabs on top (or three if you ovi contacts), one for contacts, one for ovi contacts, on for groups. Just tap on the tabs.
Brilliant, thanks a lot! So Nokia finally fixed this!
Unfortunately user manuals are always more useless, and it seems the only way to understand these details is to ask other users...
Have you checked if groups can be synchronized between the phone and Ovi? With older versions of Ovi it wasn't possible.
Can you manage, sync and backup groups from the PC using Nokia PC Suite?
What's the difference between contacts and Ovi contacts? I thought the whole point of Ovi was to sync data between the website and the mobile. Can you instead keep two different directories of contacts and access them separately?
I wonder if 'groups' is just another field in the contact database, which gets saved when you export contacts to a csv file with Nokia PC Suite, or if groups are stored in some other ways.

  • Empty favorite contacts on my home screen, N97 min...

    Hello,
I am trying to add my favorite contacts to the home screen of my brand new Nokia N97 mini.
When I add the "favorite contact" from the content list, an empty (light black color) bar appears on my homescreen while I would have expected to have the contact names/pictures as  have 5 contacts marked as favorites.
Moreover, when I click on this bar, nothing happens, it looks lie the 4 spots are empty!
I have tried many other approaches (delete all favorite contacts, keep only one favorite, add new contact and set it as favorite) but it never worked!
For your info, in the content list I have "favorite contacts" and also "favorite contacts II". Is this due to the fact that I have 5 favorite contacts?
    Could someone please help me?

Hi, restoring the backup, could have caused your problem, try a soft reset and JUST restore your contacts and calender, NOT settings ( the settings from previous software could cause conflict/problems, better to set up phone again manually )

  • Pictures for my contacts, how N97 mini

look at this picture of a N97 mini
    http://www.nokia.se/support-och-programvara/produktsupport/n97-mini
Just above the facebook icon there are a picture to 4 contacts, how in the whole world do i do that.
I tried for about 5 days now but cant get a grip of it, i have 4 small green dudes there and nothing changes whatever i do.
I belive its a shortcut for a phonnumber to a contact with a picture on it for a fast call???
Probably a very simple task to do anyway, if some 1 know how to do it , plz tell me.
Sorry 4 my bad english, im from sweden

Ok, maybe my explanation is not clear enough, so just as an example, go ---menu(silver Button)/tap photos/tap downloads/tap any photo that is there (for the purposes of this exercise it doesn't matter what the photo is)/tap Options and scroll down to Use image/ select Assign to contact/ select the first contact in your list/select OK.
Right the photo you picked is now attached to the first contact in your contacts list, if they call you or you call them, the picture will appear above their details on phone screen.
Now from home screen, tap one of the little squares on favourite contacts widget, when contacts open, tap the first contact on your contacts list and select ok. This contact and the photo you have attached will now appear on the widget. Assuming this works, and I promise it does, as I have both Favourite contacts widgets on my home screen with 8 photos and names, simply repeat the process, attatching photo's of the people you have as contacts, To remove a favourite contact:- go into contacts, highlight one of the contacts with a gold star next to them, select options, select Remove from favourites, select ok.
    Hope this helps
    Good Luck

  • N97 mini: messages

    Hi,
I have a very annoying problem with my new Nokia N97 mini.
When I get a message from someone, my phone is only showing me the number of this person instead of showing me the name of the person. This is very annoying because I don't know all those numbers...
Can please anyone help me? Because a lot of stores where I told my story couldn't help me.
    Thanks

It will be multiple entries, you either have two manes attached to one number, or in settings in contacts you are either using multiple memories or sim memory, you need to set to Phone memory as source for caller ID to work. Best way to check for multiple entries is to go through your contacts in Ovi Suite, many posts on this subject, it's always multiple entry !!

  • N97 Mini - problem autolock with security code

I bought my N97 Mini last week. It works perfectly except when I activate autolock with securitycode, the phone refuses to react, when the autolock is activated of course. Only when I remove the battery I can reboot my phone.
I've contacted both the after sales service of the store where I've bought my phone as Nokia Careline.
Nokia referred me to a Nokia Care Point and the after sales service of the store proposed to give me a brend new phone.
I've chosen for the new phone, but the problem remains the same (sometimes it works, but sometimes it doens't).
I have the newest software (V10.0.020 on date 14-10-09), edited version 10.0.020.C01.01 (via *#0000#).
I can't continue te be given new phones that don't work properly.
    What should/can I do more?
     Thank you for your help.

  • No notification of Messages in N97 mini

My phone has only +100 contacts and +3900 messages but whenever a new message arrives there is no notification about it on the screen nor the ringtone is played for the sms
When i format the phone the problem is not there but as i restore my data (contacts and messages) back the same problem contineus but when i restore the same data to any other phone ( including n97 mini ) the problem is not there.
Also when i try to restore the backup which i had originally restored in my n97s from n95 8gb ( my previous phone ) the restroing process hangs when it reaches the messages but it works fine in other phones
I went to nokia care they said we can't help it !!!
According to them there is a virus or 1 one of the message is corrupt
still to make sure i scanned my phone with a mobile anti virus
but as far as i know there is no virus known till now for s60 phones and how can a message be corrupt as it is a single 1 kb file ???
when i explained this to them they said that nokia gives garuntee till 999 messages but i could'nt find this writen anywhere in the end user agreement
and their suppervisor suggested me to write my problem here.

it's possible i guess that the database has become corrupt.
a soution might be to syncronise, or drag the messages to your computer using the ovi suite, or even better the pc suite. delete them from the phone and then drag them back again.
though i can't for the life of me think why you don't just delte them.
There's no dignity in begging for kudos. Do it for the karma.

  • N97 Mini Flash Lite Problem

Hey Guys, what happened with me maybe a minor issue but i wanna know how to solve it.
Here's what happened with my N97 mini: I had the flash lite 3.0 installed, so I downloaded The flash lite 3.1(4) from a link i found on Google. Now, when I go to youtube.com  on the default symbian browser,  I get the first "frame" of the video with sound but without the video; only first "frame" of the video appears. When I tap on the video for Fullscreen the web browser closes by itself and it shows to the homescreen, and something really weird happens: when i hide the widgets and show them again, it does it like i have the theme effects off.. but when i go to theme settings, its actually theme effects on. And it doesnt do the effects again untill i turn my phone off and then turn it on.
On the other hand, I guess this flash lite issue is causing a problem on video playback in realplayer. When I record a video with the camera and play it back, it does it without any problem and the file format is MP4. Though, when i send an MP4 video from my pc to the phone, the playback shows no picture.. just the sound.
Im sorry If I said too much, but i said everything that happened because i wanna know if its really the flash lite's problem.. or its something else?
And either way, whats the solution!? Please Guys I need ur help

A software update shouldn't cause a problem as the phone has data protection, just to be safe back up your contacts, but the phone should be fine anyway, simply re-install the software with Nokia Software Updater, and hoprfuly it will resolve your problem, if not , contact a Nokia Care Point, whatever the case , the phone definitely won't be any worse for a software install.

  • Download files from mac to N97 mini/WLAN

I can access the net through WLAN from my N97 mini, and download from anywhere except for my own Mac (snow leopard).
My wireless router can see the phone, and gives it an IP address, but I get nowhere when I key the address in on my mac.
ISync works OK for calendar and contacts.
    What am I doing wrong?

Hi, I'm not that techy. but don't think N97 has share on home network (like N95 had) so I use either bluetooth or usb to transfer files (usb much faster) but I also use pc not mac. Hope someone with more technical knowledge can help'

Nokia do have too many handsets and I disagree with Sapporobaby as they actually use three or four mobile OS's which have to be developed for numerous differently configured devices. This causes all of the problems with the firmware upon release of a new device and just when Nokia have most of the bugs ironed out they move onto the next device only to have to start all over again. Apple only have one mobile OS supporting the iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch and a few legacy devices so when they roll out a new model their developers can focus on resolving issues in just one device. Don't get me wrong, I know iPhones are not perfect but Nokia could learn a lot from the way Apple develops software and services and good quality hardware will only get you so far in this market. Even in this area Nokia have been dropping the ball lately with poorly designed/manufactured devices like the N97 (lack of RAM, lack of c: drive, self-harming camera lens, poor GPS antennae, etc...)
So matt please don't chastise Nokia users with a Mac just because you got chastised by some apple fanboys.

    Hey froschy,
Long time mate. Hope things are going better with the N97 than before. I think I did not explain my position well, but actually I agree with everything you wrote. What I was trying to say is that while Nokia has multiple operating systems, they release hundreds of phones that share the same OS, i.e. E71, E90 or N85 and N86 and so on. Nokia can easily create a generic plugin across the board for these OS's with little or no effort but they have not done so. The fact that the N97 was (and still is a disaster in my opinion) should be proof positive to the Mac community that they are wasting their time on Nokia products. Or, they should realize that Nokia does not really care much for them and they should adjust accordingly. As I stated, I posted that the Mac community should forgo the N97 Mini until it is proven that there is support for this phone. Surely the N97 fiasco is a waking call that Nokia does not care about Mac, or at least not much. Any Mac user that purchases a Nokia phone without checking for support first has only him or herself to blame and should not come here complaining. There is a proven track record of incompetence on Nokia's part to look back on.

  • N97 mini - vibration stopped working!

    hi!
    i need help ,
since friday the vibration of my n97 mini stopped working !
its really wierd , not vibrating anymore when i touch the screen and when i receivce calls
sometimes it works for a min but then stops again.
i know i shuold take it to a lab but im looking for a way to try and solve this myself.
in teh settings everything is fine and in order.
    waiting for help!
    thank you!!!

    try the following
NOTE: In front of the hash key ( #) there is also a STAR key that people often miss and state that the code does not work.
1.. *#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default ( you will not lose any data) Make sure you back up your data as you will lose all of it when you perform option 2 or 3 on this list. The default code for ALL operations listed here is 12345.
2.*#7370# - Reformat your phone (out of the box, tho keep in mind that most newer nokia phones at least n series, e series and s60 based phones have udp - user data preservation so not ALL data may be lost. still it is a good idea to always do a back up of your stuff.)3. This you perform as a last resort. Nothing else is working. If the phone is not showing any activity, proceed with hard formatting , turn off your phone, hold the following buttons while pressing the power button. (the default code is 12345)
    3. hard reset - hold the following buttons * (star key), 3 (number button) and talk/green key. turn on the phone and do not release those buttons until you see the Nokia boot up screen. once you feel the phone power up you can let go off the power button while still holding all three buttons ( for Nokia 5800XM - use the following buttons to do a hard reset, /GREEN/RED/CAMERA keys pressed all at once on power up. this will only work on 5800's that have firmware version 20... and up. ) For Nokia N97 (unofficial version but works) is SHIFT /SPACE BAR / BACKSPACE while holding the power button. Again do not let go until you see the handshake screen.
If these codes are not working the only thing for you to do is contact your Nokia Care Center/Service for assistance.
