  • N8: Data connection is always on

since the last FW update the data connection is always on is connects automatically after manually disconnection it. It is creating around 200 to 300MB of traffic per day.
Checking in the connection manager it is the App Messaging.
Checking with the App "DataWatch" the application neasserver creates the traffic.
It could be somehow linked with the Exchange Mail client?
Can anybody send me a hint how to switch back to a normal check every 15min as it is configured.
    Thx

Hello chrisscn43, try this go to settings>connectivity>settings>data use in home country(set this to always ask). Again in the same thing go to destinations and then options>default connection(just create a new access point and set this as default in this way the connection won't take place.). Again check this too in the home screen tap options>widgets to online/offline mode. Check whether its shown as widgets to offline mode. If so then it means that your home screen widgets are in online mode and data transfer is taking place. Touch that so that the option changes to widgets to online mode. Try and reply.

  • N97 packet data connection on hold

Good day,I have a N97 with an unlimited data plan. But I´m having a problem, when I receive or make call or send text message my phone show this message “packet data connection on hold”, and when I finish the call or sent the text message the phone shows  “Packet data connection active”. There is any way that I can change this? I want to have my data connection always active. Thanks in advance for your help
    Solved!

you would have to go into the settings - connectivity- the first tab is network - select this and it tells you network mode, select this and you can set it to dual mode - umts or gms only mode. if your phone was made for your region and it supports the frequency that the network provides then it should work in 3g if it does not which is possible then it will only work on edge

  • N97 Mini data sync - Ovi maps

Having had to reset my N97 mini I no longer have the map sync profile for data connection. Does anyone know of a download link or could list the settings?
    Thanks in anticipation

So did I. Have tried reinstall but still can't get past sign in. Maps doesn't seem to pick up either my account details or the server path but no error or failed log in is reported.
FYI I posted the same thread on the navigation forum

  • E52 fw 031.012 3g data "connecting" icon always on...

Since the last update of my E52's firmware, the 3G connecting (not "connected") icon - which is the one with the dotted 2-way arrow under the signal meter - is always shown on the screen. I have no applications running in the background (as the task manager says). I have disabled all the internet synchronisations and the icon is still there, from the moment I power-up my phone.
This doesn't cause me any problem (apparently), but I was wondering if that is normal. Other than this, all applications that use this kind of connection work fine. They connect through 3g (the icon goes to full 2-way arrow), they do their job and then they disconnect and the connection icon goes back to the "connecting" state.
I have also tried to force the phone to close all active data connections, by keeping the hang-up button pressed for a few seconds, but nothing happens.
    Any idea?

Do you have your email configured? By default the settings would be to connect to the internet every 5min. You should set email retrieval to manual
    Go to Menu>Messaging>Mailbox>Options>Email Settings>Automatic retrieval>disable email retrieval

  • N97 MINI - Issues connecting with Bury CC9060 Cark...

    Hi,
I have an issue connecting my N97 mini with Bury CC9060 car kit. I am able to pair the device with the Car kit, but after a minute there will be a message pop-up in the car kit display says, "disconnected" (The connection with the Car kit & my Nokia N97 mini is lost). Still on my Nokia N97-mini display I can see the car symbol (as if like it is connected with the Car kit).
But now if I am receiving or making a call, I am not able to hear the audio (both I/c and o/g) either from the device or from the car kit. The only way is to switch off and on my N97 mini (reboot) to get the audio via my phone. Here I would like to know if there any thing can be done from to solve this issue (Is there any compatibility issues with Nokia N97 and Bury CC9060?)
Note: Bury 9060 is updated with the latest SW and my device also is having the latest SW (10.0.020)
    Please advice,

    Hi All
I am having similar problems with my E72 phone. It disonnects and reconnects from the Bury every minute or so and causes the Bury to reboot sometimes. If I am in a call I get a loud squeal and then it drops.  When I first had the E72 it worked ok for the first few weeks and then started having the issues. Then the phone was replaced due to an upgrade problem and the new phone was ok for a couple of weeks but has now started doing it again. I have tested the Bury with other phones and all is ok. Just about to upgrade the Bury and see if that makes a difference. Its very distracting when you are driving so i have to deselect the phone.

  • N97 mini cant connect via open wifi

I cant connect to internet with none of the open wifi, also called wifi zones, those wifi at public places.... sometimes say me than I cant connect to network, or if can connect, applications than request internet no connect or say me than need use other access point
    I have firmware version 12.2.121

Try this go to settings>connectivity>destinations>then see if there's an option to add New access point. If not then find the place where the open Wifi name is displayed. Then touch it twice then you will see the settings for the access
    point. Now, click on options
button at the bottom left of the screen and
select “Advanced Settings” from the list. This
will take you to the advanced settings. In Advanced Settings, you will now see four
settings, namely IPv4 settings, IPv6 settings,
Proxy Server Address and Proxy port
number. In IPv4 you have to enter the ip and subnet mask and default gateway. Then tap back then enter the proxy and port number. You have to set the WLAN mode as public security as open. Try and reply.

  • N97 mini message "packet data: packet data connect...

    hi
I got a new nokia N97 mini a couple of months ago, it's on a plan with optus, and it's been working fine until a few days ago it keeps flashing this message 'packet data: packet data connection not available' and it won't let me access the web, or even send messages I've tried resetting it but no luck please help me!

Contact you Operater to confirm that the Packet Data Plan isn't deactivated.. If its active..request them to send the settings once again.. Normally these are sent thru' SMS.. When you receive..first delete all the access points from your phone.. then open the SMS and select..'SAVE'..Now try..

  • N97 Mini works slowly with data!

I'm using N97 Mini and I feel that this model working very hard at:
    - Delete data such as: photo, music, video... special when I select more than one file. It's even hardly to open Options menu. After deleting, it still shows files that i've deleted until one minute later.
    - The Ovi suite works hard so. It works incorrect when sync photos. There're 2.000 photos in my library and only 800 photos in my phone (synced Photos ), and more. I tried to copy new files to my phone using "copy to the device" action. It takes an evening to do this, and when i browse photos, i realize there's duplicated files ( 2, 3, even 4 same files).
That's all slow things I realized until now.

Hi, I find aeiting files easier using computer connected via usb in mass storage, go to 'my computer, open E or F drive and add, remove or edit files there !
Just remember to set memory in use for messages back to E when you've disconnected phone as it resorts to C after usb connection.
    Good Luck

  • Packet data connections n97

    Hi,
I've had the N97 for a little while now, when connecting to the web I've always used the WAP services 'contract WAP' option as opposed to the Internet 'Contract Internet'. When taking out my contract with the phone I ensured that it included the mobile internet (free surfing etc) within the package
Whenever I've tried to connect via 'Contract Internet' as opposed to 'Contract WAP' I get the message 'Packet data connection not available'even when in a 3G area with full strength signal. I've made sure the phone settings are set to packet data where available etc. Is there something else I should be doing such as contacting vodafone to get them to activate the mobile internet on my number/account?
One other thing, have had the phone for 2 months and no matter how many settings I try the accuweather application never works, will only ever say 'loading', any fresh advice on that one?
Thanks in advance for any helpful advice.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

In your post, you mentioned contacting Vodafone to check if mobile internet was enabled on your account.  Have you done this yet?  If not, give them a call and while you're on the phone to them, ask them to send an SMS to your phone with their internet configuration settings which will program you phone with the right info.
If you've contacted them already and they've got it enabled, go to their website to check the details for mobile internet.
Regarding your Accuweather problem, have you downloaded the latest version from Ovi Store?  I realise you can't do this out and about but do you have home wifi you can use?  Not being able to access mobile internet will prevent Accuweather from working properly anyway.

  • N97 Mini - Pop-up connection Internet

    Hello,
    I have a N97 mini since 3 month.
I not have a phone plan with internet and i don't need that.
But i have always a pop-up for a internet connection. I would like remove this pop-up.
    Thanks,
    Alexandre.

You mean the pop up asking for internet connection?
its likely due to some preinstalled app like Nokia email. Go to Menu>Settings>Application manager>installed apps.

  • Data recovery from N97 mini

    Hei all,
    I’m using Nokia N97 mini.
Along with Phone memory and Mass memory, I inserted one 1GB memory card also.
Yesterday, I was trying to copy some files in ‘mass storage’ mode via cable into that 1GB card. While copying, some files could not be copied and I got error message.
So, I aborted the whole operation. From then, I couldn’t find my personal data from the Mass memory.
Along with some system folders on the mass memory, I have one folder ‘My data’ in which I save all my data.
I’m unable to see the ‘My data’ folder.
It shows that ~2GB memory is being used on mass memory. If I check the size of all folders that i can see, its only 45MB.
So, my folder is occupying space. But, i’m unable to see that.
Please help me in recovering my data.
    -Babloo

Download and install an app from www.ovi.com called y-browser and see if that allows you to see your folder.
