N97 mini firmware update seriously needed

hi all,
Its been ages of waiting for a new update for the N97 and N97 mini, one which would do at least the following:
(1) better UI
(2) new and better browser with the latest flash support
(3) freer space on the RAM
(4) a social app for IM like facebook, twitter, myspace e.t.c
(5) smileys in our Instant messaging (fed up with words like smileysad)
(6) a UI that wouldnt use up batteries so fast
skyee and other nokia staff, thanks for speaking up atleast i must acknowlegde you for confirming that there will be an update. But as you said for chat 2.5 and the firmware update its till further notice. Please give heed to our plight and give us specific date and schedule as you have done for PR 1.1 & 1.2 for symbian ^3 devices.
Each day i browse through all threads to hear pleasing and helpful news about the firmware update for N97 mini & N97. Please we are loyal customers begging for your support.

OK friends, last Sunday once again I went to the customer care and told them about my homescreen problems they didn't care me. They Switch off and on again my phone gave it to me and said ur problem is solved.
They doesn't try to understand me.
Suddenly I got angry and fought with them. On the spot I pictured them and forward my complaint to the nokia' with in two days nokia officials contact me ask me about the problem and help me to solve that problem.
After that I'm not saw that problem again in my phone.
so if you have any serious problem pls forward your mails directly to the nokia.

Nokia N97 mini firmware

First of all I would like to excuse me for my bad English as I am from Latvia!
Recently I have bought a new Nokia N97 mini. I have backed up everything and written down all the name of software that I afterwards uninstalled as I thought that it would be better for firmware update process. My goal was to update the phone to the newest firmware for my phone, however I got into problems with all the versions available.
So this is the information on my mobile phone:
Software version: v 11.0.102
Software version date: 01-02-2010
Custom version: 11.0.102.C01.01
Custom version date: 01-02-2010
Language set: 13
Model: N97 mini
Type: RM-555
Latest update: Not updated

When I use Nokia Software Updater in my PC (MS Win 7) I got informed about that that the latest possible version is already installed.
When I use Nokia web site using my telephone code written under the battery I got informed that latest available software for my device is: 10.0.020, however in phone there is version 11.0.102.C01.01 installed.
When I was looking for the latest software release for Nokia N97 Mini it was 12.0.110, however there was mentioned that it is only for certain devices.
So the question is if the latest firmware (12.0.110) version custom package is available for my device. If it is possible that there in my device there is a newer custom version (11.0.102.C01.01) installed than my Nokia N97 mini device support (10.0.020) than it should be possible that there is some newer custom firmware (12.0.110) available for my phone.

So where can I obtain it? And speaking generally were (exact internet address of FTP or HTTP protocol handled server, with login information, if needed) all Nokia N97 mini firmware`s could be found? I would even try to install non-customized version 12.0.110 of it on my phone. Maybe I don`t even need any custom version and all Nokia N97 mini devices can handle any Nokia N97 mini firmware?

I can clearly live without Latvian language and as it is well known that there is no special or no at all services or applications for Latvia region that I could miss. I would better use United Kingdom apps and turn off some really unnecessary services or news.
I would`t reply if there were nothing at all from Latvia in phone. I just need to get it work faster and with less problems form software side. I could use any Nokia N97 mini update version that doesn`t have "Comes with music" services and apps as I don`t have license to it.

Late 2009 Mac Mini EFI 2.1 Firmware update not needed/already factory installed?

Here has been my issue of trying to figure out if Mac Mini can handle (and fully use) 8GB of RAM with my current EFI version.
I want to upgrade to 8GB on a LATE 2009 Mac Mini that currently has Boot ROM MM31.00AD.B00 and was told to update with EFI Firmware update 2.1 but it does not install saying "This update is not needed on this machine".
I found various contradicting posts saying that I need my Boot ROM to be MM31.0081.B06 or my machine won't utilize the 8GB fully
and will slow down in performance and/or crash after the Apple recommended 4GB.
But here's what I found interesting. Some users have mentioned that the Late 2009 Mac Mini's shipped with updated firmware and don't need this update but could not find a concrete answer as to yes it did ship with it or not.
Apple doesn't even list a Late 2009 Mac Mini as needing a Firmware update in this list of Firmware updates: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1237 . Should I just assume that my machine shipped with said update and is capeable of the 8GB? I use this for Logic Pro 9 as a somewhat portable workstation that I can take with me so maxing out the RAM would be ideal for me.
Any help or clarification would be greatly apprishiated,

Actually a Late 2009 can take 8GB of RAM and only the Early 2009 needs the EFI update.

N97 mini further updates (udates after v12.0.110)?...

Since jul 2010 n97 mini has recieved no updates .... many apps in it are now outdated like
1. music player
2. browser.
3. top apps dont work.
4. no interface improvement... like slow ks
5. etc...etc..
all other phone like my dads 5800 xm has recieved about 3 new updates.... all bringing improvement to the phone.....
please Nokia do something...
and i request a honest reply by a Nokia person on this post pls... also the tentative dates for update...

If you want a reply from Nokia then you have to ask Nokia, not post a question on a forum populated by other users of Nokia products like yourself.
The general consensus among users here is, however, that the N97 and N97 mini are abandoned products. They've not been updated since July and August 2010 respectively.
On the other hand, I did recently see a page on a Nokia site saying that some piece or other of software that they were pushing did require PR2.x (V2x) on the N97 mini and PR3.x (V3x) on the N97 to work correctly. Would Nokia be releasing software that will never run on phones because the required firmware will never be released? It would be a bit stupid, although I wouldn't put it past them.

Mac mini Firmware Update

Mac mini EFI Firmware update 1.1 is released! Any problems with it?

I wonder how wide spread this is?
based on the relatively few postings here, I'd say issues with the firmware update aren't widespread. That doesn't mean that some users aren't having issues as clearly some are, but typically if there's a widespread problem, these Discussions reverberate around it for days.
1. I've modified my mini buy installing more ram and
a faster / larger hard drive. I assume if I need to
send it back I am going to have to undo all that?

Not so much with the memory, as long as it's good, but certainly as far as the hard drive is concerned, Apple would likely advise you that your warranty was void if they see an indication you have replaced the original drive with one that is not supported for this product.

I think you will have a problem with warranty support if Apple were to detect anything that to them appears to have damaged or compromised the system. Opening the system is not in itself a problem, but if any action you take once having done so then causes problems, they can decline to provide warranty support. In this situation, they might, for example, claim that your replacement of the hard drive was responsible, or complicit, in the failure of the system after the update was applied. That isn't to say they WILL say that, but they COULD.

N97 mini, no update available?

I've got a norwegian N97 Mini, and I still have not got the newest update for it, v. 11.0.0.45. When will it come to my phone. whenever i try the nokia software updater, it just says i have the newest
one (10 something).
It's been several days, why haven't i got it yet?

different suppliers have handsets 'branded' to there own specification, and will not allow you to update 'till they approve the update, if you go to your local store they may be able to shortcut the system, otherwise you just need to check NSU regulally untill update is 'allowed' on your phone !

How to reinstall N97 mini firmware

what do you mean by "some custom software version"?
you can use Nokia Ovi Suite to reinstall the firmware to the device.

N97 Firmware update, help needed!

hi,
i have following problem... i am a mac user, so i cant update my firmware.
got a pc from a friend, windows xp service pack 3, to update my firmware... installed the new ovi suite from beta labs, works good, phone recongnised etc....
if i try updating from ovi suite, i get following error when the programs wants to download the software: internal error 625.
when i try to update through nokia software update app, it can connect to the phone, but then can't identify my nokia n97...
so both ways aren't working. does anyone have a clue why?

I also have the new MBP with the C2D, and i checked everywhere to see if i needed the firmware upgrade, and couldn't find it anywhere. All the references that i found were toward the old MBP, not the new one. One question about your boot camp tho, does your cpu constantly run at about 75% load in windows, because i just installed boot camp with XP pro today, (NO problem with firmware that i found) and i was always under load. Might be something to look into.
PS, mine is 1.12f5, just like yours

Just for grins, try switching off WiFi.
I've noticed that having wifi on slows the acquisition of a blue-dot, sometimes for really long periods of time.
But for me, switching off wifi causes the phone to go immediately to a blue dot, and GpsCompass (app store free app) shows 25 foot accuracy.
I theorize that if you are within range of wifi that is giving inaccurate hints as to location it confuses the GPS chipset, and delays a true fix. My tests suggest that even a wifi access point that you are NOT using can feed inaccurate hints to your phone.
You could of course register your wifi with Skyhook.com but that sort of buts a bandaid over the problem rather than a fix.

SMC Firmware update help needed

I've just got this brand new MBP from Apple. As a MacUser for the last 15 years my work now requires that I get Windose XP- hence the upgrade (I think I would have stayed with my old G4 Ti if I hadn't needed to get XP- but now I'm pleased that I did get this computer after all).
Anyhow, enough of that. I have to install boot camp and the instructions indicate that I need to check my firmware and to see if it needs updating. This mbp system profiler reads that the Boot ROM Version is;
MBP22.00A5.B00
and the SMC Version is;
1.12f5.
However to me this is really quite illogical, because this could mean anything as far as I'm concerened- as I can't find any reference to these numbers anywhere else on the Apple site. Can you Apple folks shed some more light on this- and if I need to update, would you be so kind as to point me in the right direction?

N97 UK Firmware Update V11

Ok, now that I've updated the N97 firmware via the official UK V11 release, what improvements should I expect? Seems pretty much the same to me so far.
The backlight issue is now ok (so far, for about 1 hour). I couldn't get the list of fixes while updating - the link page never actually opened.
Is there a link to the fixes in V11 somewhere?

Your reply was unhelpful and patronising. If you had read my second post properly you would have seen that I did indeed reach that page, and also followed the N97 link there. I didn't need irrelevant, patronising rubbish about using a different browser. Nor did I ask for, or need, a "Simple" explanation. An informative one would have been useful enough.
Part of your reply WAS helpful, to the extent that it told me that the answer to my question was to be found elsewhere. So that at least was accurate, if not of any use.
I did find the "changelog" you mentioned in another forum, and to that person I am grateful.
You still haven't aswered the question of "Why" Nokia would regard this as confidential information.

HELP! Firmware update failed, need to extract data from unreadable iPod

Please HELP! I have important data on my iPod that I need to preserve. Here's what I did:
* downloaded newest iPod software and used the iPod Updater. It assured me the the "Update" process does not touch songs/data on my iPod
* clicked the Update button. The update failed, citing error writting data to disk.
* now my iPod will not boot up (folder icon), on top of that it will not mount even in Disk Mode (claims it's unformatted).
* iPod Updater now offers only the Restore option
I absolutelly NEED to get the data of my iPod if I am to restore it. The data should still be on the disk (even if the firmware is damadged), it's just a matter of gaining access to it.
Any chances?

Sounds like a problem I had with a camera card - and I lost the pictures, and I have yet to restore the camera card - it's still dead, won't even format.
Take it someplace where they specialize in data recovery - for high fees....

N97 mini wont update to latest software

heloo i bought this phone while i was on holiday in malaysia as my samsung galaxy note was stolen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and oh my god.. it wont update to 30.0.004... rite now it just says rm 555 10.0.020... it sux!! very buggy.. kinda need a new update fast...the software version date is 14-10-09... 2 years ago?? r u kidding me???? I suggest backing up your data via Nokia Suite, then perform soft reset by pressing *#7780# followed by your security code. Then retry your software update by following the instructions below.
If you use a PC, Nokia Suite can check your phone’s current software version and download new versions when they become available, using your PC’s internet connection.
Nokia Suite also helps you to back up your contacts and photos, synchronise your calendar and update other applications such as Maps.
To update your phone’s software using Nokia Suite on your PC:
On your PC, open Nokia Suite and connect your phone
In Nokia Suite, select Tools > Software updates.
From the list of available updates, choose what you’d like to install.

When will my Xperia T get the firmware update it needs?

I am currently running Jellybean 4.1.2 build number 9.1.A.0.489, complete with all its many annoying bugs such as:
Unusable Walkman app- will not skip to next track when the screen is locked
All speaker output is disabled after unplugging headphones, requiring a reboot to bring it back
Occasionally shutting down in the middle of the night while on charge, meaning my alarm doesn't get me up for work!
When I look on forums and the ultra shiny Sony website it seems there is a solution- Version 9.1.A.1.140 supposedly fixes these issues. My problem now is getting the damn update!!! I have tried using bridge for mac, and also the phones built in software update app but everything tells me my phone has the latest software WHICH I KNOW FOR A FACT IT DOESN'T!!!
What does Sony plan to do about this? Is there a known timeframe in which this problem will be sorted out? Or is the phone just going to be abandoned like my previous phone the Xperia Play was?
