N97 Mini headphone port

I have an N97 MIni, only about 5 months old. I have been using the headphones that came with it, and they work fine. I recieved a new set of headphones but when I plug the jack in, the phone registers it as a 'TV-Out Cable.'
Is there any way to fix this and make it register as just headphones? I can hear the music through it still, but it is very muted and there is an annoying buzzing which didn't happen with the old headphones.

I Have The Same Exact Problem. I Jus bought Some Bose On Earphones  With Phone Support, And i Have That Same Problem. Im REALY **bleep** ! Cuz I payed Alot Of Money For These EarPhones

  • N97 mini headphone problem

hello all. i recently bought new headphones (skullcandy..dont know if that matters) for my N97 mini. when i pluged it in my pc it worked just fine. but when i pluged in my phone,  the tv out sign appeared on the screen (which means the phone thinks the headphone is actually a tv??) and now the sound is really bad i cant even listen to music  why is this happening? ive just updated my firmware too but nothing changed... i also wanted to say that theres a small button on my headphones and when i push that the sound becomes normal again..but there is no swich on or off button...its an instant change but as soon as i stop pushing it the sound changes again i dont even know what the button is for...ahh anw...i think thats all.. thank you all in advance..i really hope someone can help me.

the phone mistakes the headphones for the cable that is used to output content to a tv.
go to menu > settings > phone > accessories > and change the setting to headphones. this might help.
if it doesn't then i guess they are not compatible with the phone.

  • Combined audio & video from iMac mini DVI & headphone ports to HDMI to TV

I presently have my iMac connected to my Sony Bravia tv so that the video goes from the mini DVI port through a converter to HDMI to a 25 foot cable, a HDMI coupler and another 25 foot cable to the TV. The video quality is good since I use 24 AWG cables. The audio goes from the headphone port through a 50 foot 3.5 mm cable to a converter to RCA stereo cables to the tv. The audio quality is not very good with this setup and I would like to send the audio over the HDMI cable with the video so that I would have only a single cable over the 50 foot run and could use a HDMI wall plate for a neater installation. I am wondering whether anyone has tried this somewhat expensive solution to my kind of problem, and whether it worked. Atlona DVI + Digital Audio to HDMI Converter. Model: AT-DVID-HDMI

Not sure if it would work. The audio input is described as +audio (SPDIF) input+ which is not analog or the Toslink optical digital. SPDIF is a digital format, so you would need another converter. And since the video input is full DVI, you'd need a different adapter for the iMac's video output.
Considering the complexity, additional adapters, rather long travel length, and $199 price for the Atlona device, depending on what you want to show on the HDTV, you may want to consider an Apple TV. The older 40GB version is $149 at the Apple +Special Deals+ page. You can then stream your content wirelessly, and not have to worry about any cabling. But obviously, an Apple TV does not stream everything that that iMac can play, so it would only work if what you want to show is stuff you can play in iTunes. Plus you may want to see what Apple introduces at the 1/27 special event.
The iMac's audio output port doubles as an optical digital port, with a Toslink adapter, so if the Sony Bravia has optical digital input, you may be able to run a Toslink cable. I believe 50 feet is too long, so you would need some type repeater at the midway point.

  • How do I  connect MacBook Pro without mini-display port to my HDMI TV?

I have a MacBook Pro computer purchased around 2008. I want to connect it to my Panasonic HDMI TV; however, this MacBook Pro doesn't have a mini-display port. Is there a work around? I would like audio & video.
Thanks so much in advance for any help.

You will need a [DVI-to-HDMI adapter|http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?cid=104&cp_id=10419&cs_id=1041902&pid=2029&seq=1&format=2], a standard HDMI cable to connect the adapter to your TV set, and an audio cable with a headphone plug on one end to connect to your MBP's headphone port and two RCA plugs on the other to connect your your TV's audio inputs. I know of no way you can get audio into the HDMI cable.

  • Mini display port to HDMI...help

I have all my options selected and was just about ready to click purchase on a new 2010 17" MBP and thought I would double check one more thing...Mini display port to HDMI with audio.
I see many post about this, but most seem to be on 08 models...have the new ones changed? I am more less getting this for my wife to use and she needs it for presentations. I finally got her to go from PC to my old 17" G4 laptop and it's time for an upgrade. The one issue we run into is that files are commonly sent as Power Point, but we got through that with a Mac/Microsoft upgrade.
I am told the location that these presentations are displayed, plans to get a new monitor and they are looking at BestBuy and such for TV style monitors with the HDMI option. This seems like a cheap way to get away from the projector system they have now that only supports S-video or VGA. I'm hoping that Apple now supplies audio thru the HDMI cable which is in my (limited) understanding the main reason the change over from DVI to HDMI was implemented in the first place.
If the no audio issue is still a factor, maybe I should put off the new MBP, because I am trying to get away from having to make the trip with her, in order to make sure we have both audio/video. With the projector system they now run, I have to take a PA and output the audio from the headphone jack and then run the S-video to the projector. I am hoping the new MBP will have one cable connection and she be on her way!

Well for starters, anyone who puts audio into a PPT presentation needs to be taken out back, beaten, drawn and quartered, beaten again, put in a stockade, flogged, then beaten one final time for good measure. The only audio coming from a presentation should be the presenter speaking. The PPT slides are meant to be secondary in nature, highlighting the major points of the presentation as you go along, not be the presentation. Audio and video, even those stupid transition effects, just distract from the content. The people at Microsoft responsible for putting those features into PowerPoint, and thus opening the floodgates for all their competitors, should have all the above happen to them, and then add being shot to the very end of it. It's still far too good a fate for the **** those people have loosed unto the world.
That being said, I'm under no illusion that this is going to do anything but get worse over time, so here's the deal.
You need a MDP to HDMI adapter that is designed to also carry the audio signal. But it couldn't hurt to teach her how to ensure that the audio output device is set properly. Just in case. Or, you could do the right thing, and start smacking the people who think it's cute to put all these animations and sound effects into presentations. There are a very select few times when that sort of thing is justified, and 99.99999999999999999999999999999% of the time when one is used, it's not one of those times. Then you wouldn't really have to worry about getting audio AND video. Might be rather cathartic too.

  • Mini Display Port to HDMI sound problem

I have an iMac 11, 2 (MacOS X, 10.6.8).  The Mini Display Port is supposed to be able to carry sound, (using a Monoprice Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Converter with Audio, and HDMI cord supporting 3D, and Audio Return.)  I am playing downloaded movies with VLC, which works fine on the computer.  When I try to burn DVD disc using Toast Titanium, I get video, but no sound.  So, I figure I can watch movies on my Vizio 42" TV screen with the MiniDisplayPort to HDMI cord.  I learned that to use the MiniDisplayPort I have to go to click the box for Mirror Display.  In System Preferences--- Sound---- Output Tab, the only two choices are:  Headphones...... Headphone Port, and E3D420VX....... HDMI, neither of which seem to help "push" sound through the MiniDisplayPort.
So, I give up and watch the movie on the Vizio screen (through the HDMI cord), while listening to sound on the little computer speakers.  After watching a couple of movies, and then not doing anything for a few minutes, all of a sudden the movie starts replaying off the play list, and lo and behold..... sound coming through the TV speaker system!!!  (So, I know the HDMI cable is capable of carrying audio.)
If any one can help me figure out how to get sound through the HDMI cord all the time,  it would be greatly appreciated!

    Hello,
    Long shot, but...
Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there, some things will change it for their own use, then not set it back.

  • Do I need to download Mini Display Port to VGA update?

I want to be able to watch movies from the MBP on the TV.  (Panasonic 32" about 5 years old).  Air Play doesn't work through the ATV, the stream is erratic and unwatchable.  Both HDMI ports are in use for other things.  So I got a Mini Display Port to VGA adapter and a VGA cord and plugged it into the PC input on the TV.  I get the screen to come up (no sound, is that normal?) so it seems to work.
Now I read that there is an update for the Mini Display Port to VGA.  I downloaded it then was unable to open it because it said it was from an "unidentified source" (Apple!!!!)  Do I need this?  The article that described this was dated 2009, so I'm thinking it is way obsolete but I want to be sure.
And what about sound and VGA?  Do I need a separate audio in connection, and if so, to what input since the PC input is VGA only.
I know that's a lot of stuff.  Thanks.
    Mid-2012 MPB 13"  2.9 ghz  8 gb ram

    Steve1000,
VGA only supplies video, so no sound is normal. You’ll need another connection to provide sound — perhaps through your audio out (headphones) port?
When you have the Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter in use, run Software Update; if it doesn’t offer the adapter’s firmware update, then your adapter already has it installed.

  • HDMI to Mini Display Port not working?!?!

    Hi,
I use my macbook Air (latest one with mini display port) to watch movies on my TV. I use a hdmi to mini display port adapter cable which worked perfect for about 6 months. Yesterday, I plugged my mac in and nothing appeared. I have no idea why- no settings have been changed.
As usual, the screen goes blue and then back to normal but the TV screen is plain black. In the Display settings, the 'arrangements' tab is missing where I can set mirro displays things. I tried bying a new adapter and trying this with my sister's macbook pro but it still doesnt work.
Any ideas on why this has happened & to how I can fix it?
    Thanks for your help

This is probably NOT the solution you're looking for, but use a 3.5mm to 3.5mm (headphone jack) cable to transmit sound. I use stereo speakers with my setup, sounds far better than the TV.

  • Does mini display port support audio to hdmi?

    hi
i have macbook 5.1 unibody aluminium. i am wondering if the mini display port would be able to pass through audio to hdmi?
    thanks
    erwin

No, you need to run your audio separately from the headphone jack to an audio in port on the TV.

  • HT3921 is mini display port to VGA different from mini dvi to VGA

What is the connector you need to buy to connect Macbook 13 inch(late 2009) to a LCD projector and LCD-HD Television.

The Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody and the Late 2009 model 6,1 and Mid 2010 model 7,1 White Unibody have a Mini DisplayPort. The Early 2006 model 1,1 through Early 2008 model 4,1s plus the Early and Mid 2009 model 5,2s have Mini-DVI ports.
To be sure which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info (and then System Report if you’re running 10.7 Lion). When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.
If you do have the model 6,1 it will depend on what input plug you'll be using on your TV. VGA, DVI or HDMI. You'll need a Mini DisplayPort adapter and a cable from that to your TV. Here's the various types of Mini DisplayPort adapters on Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=min i-dvi&x=9&y=13#/ref=nb_sb_ss_sc_2_16?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=mini+ displayport&sprefix=mini+displayport&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Amini+displayport
If you connect the MacBook using a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter you will probably need to use external speakers or a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs connected to a stereo sound system if your TV doesn't have separate RCA input plugs or a 3.5mm stereo input plug for audio with the HDMI plug. The Mini DisplayPort to HDMI doesn't carry audio unless you have the Mid 2010 model 7,1 and there're no audio plugs on most TVs to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI.
If you have the Late 2009 model 6,1 White Unibody with the Mini DisplayPort rather than the Mini-DVI there is an adapter that can combine video and audio to HDMI.

  • I have lost all sound on macbook pro 10.6 and in ITunes can no longer play any cinema or tv shows purchased.  I believe it may have been caused by recent use of mini-display port   Toslink Audio to the TV.  What can be done?

I no longer have any sound on my macbookpro 10.6.8, not even beginning chime.
Furthermore, I find that I no longer have any images as well as no sound, from any
of my Itunes cinema, tv show purchases, etc.
I recently watched last week a couple of tv episodes through my TV
using a Mini Display Port + Toslink Audio purchased at Apple.
I use this device occasionally and haven't had any  problems til now.
Any suggestions to right the problem?.

In System Preferences>Sound do you have your internal speakers set as the output source?
You may have toggled on optical output with the Toslink cable - check to see if there's a red light coming from the port. If so, quickly plug and unplug a set of headphones for a number of times to see if you can toggle the switch back from optical to the internal speakers.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • How do you connect a mini display port to a tv?

I know where the Mini Display Port on my iMac is but I don't know what convertor to buy.

It depends on what kind of video input(s) your TV has.
If your TV only has a VGA (aka pc) video input, then you need the Apple miniDisplayPort-VGA adapter  In this case you will also need a VGA cable to connect from the adapter to your TV
If your TV has either DVI or HDMI video inputs, then you need the Apple miniDisplayPort-DVI adapter  In this case you need either 1) a DVI-DVI cable or 2) a DVI-HDMI cable to connect from the adapter to your TV (depending on what kind of video input your TV has).
Note: for audio you will also need a separate cable to connect your iMac's headphone output to your TV's audio input.  The exact kind of plugs you need on the cable depend on what your TV has.  In most cases TVs have two RCA-type jacks (red = right, white = left) for audio input.  On the iMac end you need a 3.5mm male stereo plug.  These are very common cables that you can find at Radio Shack and most big-box stores.

  • N97 Mini Battery

    Hey y'all
Has anyone else been having battery problems with their N97 mini battery recently.  It started 7 days ago for me. I unplugged my phone mid charge, and noticed that on my phone the battery icon was still moving as if it was charging. I thought it was cute because maybe the atmosphere or my charisma were still charging my phone for me. I restarted my phone and it returned to normal.  The following day my phone did the same thing, only this time I didn’t restart it, but eventually my phone ran out of charge. Since then the battery life on my phone has been very poor, I only get about 8 hours max, and that’s when I have not been on the net or made anything more than one 10 minute phone call.  The battery icon has stopped moving when its unplugged, but the battery life is terrible.
I have updated my software today so I will monitor it, but seriously is there something up with my battery? It has left me short two days now where I’m in town and my phone has died. I am not happy.
    Any suggestions people?

My N97 Mini is currently useless as I can't get it charged.
I have experienced similar problems as have been referred here - and some extra too: E.g. my phone seemed to be able to utilize electricity from the air as the charging lamp was on and the indicators on screen were animated even though the USB cable was off!
Using the USB port in my laptop was soon not possible either. 'Power Surge On Hub Port. A USB device has exceeded the power limits of its hub port.' was the only result in any of the three ports.
Anyway I managed to deal with the problem until one day it refused to charge altogether.
I took it for repair and they said they re-fused something (but were not very convinced that it solved the actual problem and instructed that if the problems remain I should take it back and they'd send it to a central repair shop (or something like that). The charging could be done although by keeping the cable in a certain position etc.
But now it seems to be time to send it for real repair or replacement.
Now it just looks like charging, then shuts down after a while, restarts charging, shuts down, (this forever) without ever reaching enough power to get to point to give the PIN.
Before taking it to repair i was just wondering if this is actually a battery problem, not charging related as such. ---> Has anyone experience of having this solved simply by using a new battery?
