N97 Mini not starting up

Yesterday my battery went flat, and now it is not starting up any longer, I can charge it, sometimes I get vibration, but nothing more. What data will I lose when hard resetting? SMS? Pictures? Notes?

You will lose anything saved on C phone memory, but it will be far more use than a 'Brick' ? Stuff on E or F will be ok !

  • N97 mini not synching with Nokia Ovi Suite 2.2.1.2...

    I've had my N97 mini for a few days and I was so hoping that it would be a better experience than the Sony Ericsson I had. Seems not.
    Running Win7 32-bit, NOS 2.2.1.23, all software updated on PC and phone, but I just cannot get the phone to sync with the PC. When I connect the phone to the PC with the USB, it does its recognition, and all the Sync button light up and become live. But clicking them does nada.
    The strange thing is that it has worked, when I first installed it on the PC.
    Also, PC Suite does not start up when I connect the phone to my PC even though I've told PC Suite to start up when the phone is connected. What's going on?
    And one last rant... why on earth is there no timed auto-sync facility on PC Suite?? Everytime I want to sync, I have to press buttons. Even my dumb Sony Ericsson software could do that!

    Could you please follow this?
    1. Uninstall Ovi Suite, PC Connectivity solution and Nokia Connectivity cable drivers from Add/remove program if anything is there.
    2. Delete the files from here If anything is there
    C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Nokia\Ovi Suite
    C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application Data\Nokia
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\OviInstallerCache
    3. Please search and download MSI clean up utility from microsoft website
    Once installed please select the programs related to Nokia and click remove.
    Restart Computer.
    Then download from microsoft website and install Windows Installer, so that the installer is upto date.
    4. Restart the PC
    5. Download and Install latest OviSuite http://europe.nokia.com/support/download-software/​nokia-ovi-suite

  • N97 Mini Notes traveler connection error

    I have installed Notes traveler on Nokia N97 Mini. I could log on to our corporate Notes traveler server, download the client and installed it also. On completing the installation, Initial sync starts. I could never got it completed. I get an error "connection with serverort 80 lost initial sync not completed" exactly after 1 minute sync starts. I have might have tried and retried over 100 times with no success. Any suggestions?

    I have experienced the "Connection error" problem for the past 6 months on the N97 Mini.  There are no software updates to fix the problem and I have had the phone replaced 3 times by Vodafone.  I have also had the SIM card swapped.  Unfortunately, none of the above has worked.
    The error does not seem to have a particular pattern, but happens several times a day, sometimes near the start of a call, sometimes 15 mins or so in.  It doesn't seem to matter whether I am calling someone else or they are calling me.  I'm not sure whether it matters if the other person is on a landline or a mobile.  It also seems unrelated to the actual network signal I have.
    The call goes silent and the then drops off with the error message "Connection error" on screen.
    This is incredibly embarrassing if you're in the middle of a business call as it would appear to the other person that you have deliberately cut them off.
    A software/firmware fix for this would be appreciated as it is difficult to use this device adequately for its main purpose: as a phone!

  • N97 mini not BT with anything

    OK i've just upgraded from N95 8gb to N97 mini. Great I thought I'll have no issues with paring and making calls with JVC car kit. Now my N95 worked perfectly with no dropped calls and it could stream audio and video to the JVC unit all day long with no issues...
    I have a few questions.
    The JVC has:-
    HFP (hands free profile) 1.5
    OPP (object push profile) 1.1
    A2DP (advanced audio distribution profile) 1.2
    AVRCP (audio/video remote control profile) 1.3
    What has changed in the N97 from the N95 that none of this no longer works and more importantly how can I resolve this with phone software updates?? Is there anywhere on the planet that can make software's/apps to solve these gripes until BT is standardized??
    Also I'm not interested in contacting Nokia as they'll do noting for me but when could I find the MD's email address as this option usually works alot better and faster from experience..

    It would be nice to know if this phone works Bt with anything. I coonot connect to my HP notebook either!!! This is something never ever happened..tried USB, it works occasionally.

  • N97 Mini, Wont Start Up

    Hi All
    New on here so please take it easy on me.
    I brought a Nokia N97 Mini at the beggining of December and so far it has been great, until today.
    Switched it on and the white background with Nokia in blue writing came on as per usual. Trouble is, nothing happened after that, it just stayed on that screen.
    I have tried battery in and out loads of times and starting without the sim card in but no difference.
    Is there anything I can do to clear this or is it a send it back problem???

    I also had this problem when I started my usual heavy use of my new Nokia N97 mini which i purchased in december.
    Startup was only possible when playing around with the charger, and removing the battery and so on. 
    I also performed the four-finger hard reset, which did solve the problem for a while, but after restoring everything ..the same story all over again.
    I solved this problem when I disabled Garmin Mobile XTs (v5.00.50) background process TSRAutoStart.exe. (Primarily i did this because it was eating away the battery life, which has also improved afterwards.)
    In this version it is possible to disable the process by having the process enabled in Garmin settings, restarting Garmin, disabling the process and restarting it again. (Use of an application that displays running processes to check if it is really off is advised).
    For older versions use google
    So now i have been able to restart the phone without any problems (3/3 restarts successful so far)

  • Mac Mini not starting up

    When starting the computer, it stops at a gray screen and doesn't go any further. I have ran the hardware disc utility multiple times. When I click the verify disk it says that 1 volume needs to be repaired. When I click repair disk, it says that the disk has been repaired. However, when clicking verify disk again, it says that again 1 volume needs to be repaired. I have repeated these steps multiple times and to no avail. Any suggestion would be helpful.

    From the sound of this, you have a fault on your hard drive that Disk Utility can't fix. It may be possible to try a repair with third-party utilities such as Disk Warrior (NOT any version of Norton), but I'd be inclinded to call Apple and pursue a repair (or replacement if just received).

  • Mini not starting up after auto firmware update

    The software update program suggested an upload of a new firmware. The software update concluded and I was advised that the system needed to restart.
    The system shutdown but during restart did not progress beyond the apple icon and the little rotating wheel. No amount of reboots have helped. I used firmware restore CD and went through the reboot process but still get the same thing...apple and rotating wheel.
    Any ideas before I take it to the store?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
    This will probably solve the problem:
    -Search your installation DVD's.
    -Insert the disc 1 and sthut down your Mac
    -Start your Mac again while holding down the C key
    -Now your Mac should boot from the CD, this can take some time.
    -After a while you will see a installation screen where you can chose a language.
    -Chose English and continue.
    -Then click some time's next and agree with the "Software Agreement".
    -Open Disk Utility. Top menu bar --> Utilities --> Open Disk Utility.
    -Select your hard disk in the list of disks and volumes on the left side
    -Go to the First Aid (tab somewhere on the right).
    -Click the button to verify the permissions.
    -Then Click the button to repair the permissions.
    -Click the button to verify the disk.
    -Then Click the button to repair the disk.
    -Exit the Disk Utility and the installer.
    -Restart your Mac

    Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
    If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.

  • Mini not starting in safe mode

    i restarted the mini while holding down the shift key, it went to the apple with the spinning thing below it for a couple of minets then shut off.
    i just recently did a PMU reset. could that have affected it?

    Boot Lion Recovery or your OS X DVD (or create and install OS X on another hard drive).
    When Safe Mode won't work the freeze probably affected more.
    Try the MacBook Pro and Lion Community forums.
    you can use Disk Utility : Restore to clone your system to another hard drive from which you can boot.
    Do you need one file?
    What did you boot from to access Disk Utility?

    Long time mate. Hope things are going better with the N97 than before. I think I did not explain my position well, but actually I agree with everything you wrote. What I was trying to say is that while Nokia has multiple operating systems, they release hundreds of phones that share the same OS, i.e. E71, E90 or N85 and N86 and so on. Nokia can easily create a generic plugin across the board for these OS's with little or no effort but they have not done so. The fact that the N97 was (and still is a disaster in my opinion) should be proof positive to the Mac community that they are wasting their time on Nokia products. Or, they should realize that Nokia does not really care much for them and they should adjust accordingly. As I stated, I posted that the Mac community should forgo the N97 Mini until it is proven that there is support for this phone. Surely the N97 fiasco is a waking call that Nokia does not care about Mac, or at least not much. Any Mac user that purchases a Nokia phone without checking for support first has only him or herself to blame and should not come here complaining. There is a proven track record of incompetence on Nokia's part to look back on.

  • N97 Mini Start Up Problem

    Apparently after rebooting my phone, my N97 Mini does not start up, instead, it shows a white screen with the word "NOKIA" and it's stuck there forever.
    Googled the issues and I am not the only one who faces this problem, but the thing is, people cannot seem to find any solutions to this, I was hoping to get assistance over here. True enough I can bring my cellphone to the nearest Nokia Care Center, but how many times do I have to face this? And I'm lucky to have a spare phone with me, otherwise, travelling is going to be a problem for me because my phone is my essential.
    Anybody has any solution to this?

    I've encountered "stucked forever with white screen Nokia logo" problem for more than 5 times since I bought Nokia Mini for one month.It's really frustrating in the beginning. I know this will randomly happen. Well, it just happened again 2 days ago. 
    Here is my quick fix to undermine the impact. 
    1. Bought a 8GB SDHC card for mini. 
    2. Put all my favourite softwares' SIGNED sources (*.sisx) in SD card (F: drive in File manger).
    3. Randomly backup Setting, Message, Contacts, Calendar in SD card.
       I don't backup "Files" since I don't know what kind of files it backups and sometimes those files are large. 
    4.1 If the mini DEAD again(freezes at NOKIA booting logo), then Hard-Reset the N97 mini. 
    4 2 Go to backup Fucntion to restore your previous backups. (i.e. Setting, Message, Contacts, Calendar)
    4.3 Go to File Manager and install your favourite softwares again from the SD card. 
    To install softwares directly from SD card is much faster and easier then from PC/Laptop. 
    Especially, when mini dead on the go or during the trip, you won't be worried about NO PC besides you.
    ps. I don't put softwares and backups in Mass Memory because I may format it when needed.
    Although "Crash" thing is still bothering sometimes, the quick fix makes me feel better(safe !?) and I still love using Mini.

  • Nokia n97 mini email not working

    Hi im trying to set up emails on my n97 mini , i click on email it says no mailbox defined define now , so i click yes then start , i choose my internet and it says installing , allow application to use internet, click yes then i goes back to messaging and email not set up , any help

    I think I have the same problem. I can set up email accounts with the email wizard and Nokia Messaging online (email.nokia.com) but they don't show up as a mailbox in the regular messages folder structure. Also starting the procedure from that point (Create new mailbox) lead to no results. It starts up the set up procedure but goes back to nothing. Also the symbol of new mail @ is not shown (I hear the sound)....
    I used to see a list with Mailboxes in use when I just got the phone, but since I deleted an account I have the above described situation. I did a hard factory default settings reinstall all but that didn't fix the problem.
    Can we have some support please?

    Are you sure about your hard disk health, any clicking noice recently?
    Go to boot menu (press option button or button left to your space bar while booting) > Select Recovery drive > Disk utility > Verify the volume on which OS X is installed.
