N97 mini + Ovi Player + Memory Card

Hi,
I cannot find how to transfer music with Ovi Player just inside the Memory Card "F" of the N97 mini and NOT inside the Mass Memory. How can I set the Ovi Player to do that?

lost the facebook app for the n97 mini.
Tried in vain for 2 days now to complete simple task of going to Ovi store and downloading...to no avail

Samsung Jet is a feature phone, and you have a smartphone. A feature phone usually does not have all these kind of troubles because it is a closed system wherein there is very little things we could do to alter the way it runs. A smartphone on the other hand is more open, and a wrong installation, or other factors could cause problems.
For a more general fix, since we do not know what the possible causes of your phone's general slowing down, you could do a reset to factory settings. type in *#7780# on your dialler. This will not delete any data, but it is advisable to do a backup of everything except settings.
Please return if there be anymore problems. Also please say if you have a memory card installed in your phone, or do you remember doing anything before the problem, such as installing an app or a firmware update.

N97 mini OVI maps 3.03 - 3.04 update crash

N97 mini phone with latest firmware (12.0.110.C01.01) through Ovi Suite or directly thorough phone software updater offers update for OVI maps to newer version. From 3.03 to 3.04
Both ways excellently download install file ~9Mb, but the install process crashes.
Any solution?
Nokia 1611, 2210, 3110, 5110, 6210, 6310, 6310i (up to these models totally satisfied)
Then don't remember model, then E50 (mostly happy), then N97 mini - phone with briliant keyboard, but poor touchscreen, then business phone E07, phone that can not make a photo of contract, invoice or business card. poor design of usb port and 5 months at service did it - my nowadays phone is Apple. Company gave me Asha 300, so frustrating, that I use my old E50 instead...

If I'm looking: Menu > Settings > Application Mgr. > Installed apps. - what incidences of either Nokia or OVI Maps do you have installed already?
I see neither Nokia, nor Ovi, nor any Maps at all.
So nothing even worth trying to remove.
And plus to all - My Nokia was on touchscreen warranty repair - so it was like new from box.
Before warranty there was this problem and after receiving from warranty - same problem.
Only I restored backed up contents before trying tu update OviMaps...

N97 mini music player problem

i dont know whats going on but yesterday i was transfering new songs to the phone then suddenly the screen turns black and the phone dead. i took out the battery and restart again but all songs inside the phone gone and i cant transfer any songs now. its shows in the hard drive that still have 700 songs but it says no songs when i pressed on the music player? i tried restarting many times but no use. anyone know how to solve this problem?

This same problem is with my n97 mini but not with the music player since I\ve never tried using it. It happens with me when I sometimes open my images or other stuff, the screen goes black and than it restarts itself or it shuts down. Even my WLAN is not working properly ( may something wrong in the settings. Anyways did you tried to update your music playlist on phone?
I think whenever you transfer songs, you will to update the playlist.

N97 mini - Music player bugs

Opening the podcast in the music player reveals several options missing, like least played, never played etc. As a frequent user of podcast, the options are used all the time. They are missing in N97 mini, however available in N97, N86, 5800.

I have a N6303 classic. Using PC Suite and Map Loader I managed to upload the UK maps to my 6303 just after last Christmas. For some crazy reason 2 days ago I downloaded and installed Nokia Ovi Suite and allowed it to update my phone – quite unnecessarily, but it looked like a good idea at the time! The backup failed. It lost various settings, but I was able to reset them. Also it allowed me to download via my PC a selection of maps and load them on to my phone. I then found that the memory card was too full and I wanted to remove some of them...I found I was unable to do this in Ovi Maps, and got the same error message that I lacked an internet connection. (I have broadband, which works fine.) However, PC Suite allowed me to delete all the maps, freeing up some space. Now, neither Ovi Suite nor PC Suite will allow me to connect to the internet via my PC to download, you’ve guessed it, the maps of the UK. The only route seems to be to connect to the internet via my mobile, which I have no need to do and will simply waste money. The maps would be nice to have but aren’t essential and I have absolutely no use for the 6303 as a SatNav, but it is frustrating not to be able to take advantage of what seemed a useful little add-on, having an A-Z of the whole of the UK available for emergency use.

Ovi player won't create N97 playlists

I am using the latest Ovi Player on my NAM N97 with firmware v20 and I cannot create playlists directly on the N97 from Ovi player on my PC (Windows XP). I can create a PC playlist using music stored on the PC, yet when I transfewr the eplaylist to the N97 all I get is the name of the list without the songs.
Accessing playlists on the phone will not work as the plus (+) sign will not let me select to add new.

I have to say I am absolutely disgusted with the level of support offered by Nokia for what was once their "flagship" model phone; the n97.
I have the same issue with my N97 v20(blank playlists on the phone after a transfer), except now, when I close the Ovi Player app on my PC, and go back in, most of my playlists have emptied themselves.
In my opinion the terrible PC software is the tip of the iceberg, Nokia have demonstrated time and again that they don't seem to care about their customers post sale. Just look at this posting...orignally opened in Jan and after 2 months no replies, no suggestions, no help.
If this was my only issue I wouldnt mind as much but after:
Lock switch slider falling off (repaired under warranty as a known fault)
Unable to turn phone back on due to residual charge in the sim card. (known fault)
Random crashes during phone calls (nokia screen just appears on screen and have to take battery out to fix it) (known fault)
(...the list goes on) I've lost all patience and faith in the company.

N97 Mini any better than N97?

I've been offered a N97 Mini as a replacement of my design flawed N97. Nokia has not been able to address my issues in due time. I've had all the usual stuff; software issues (hangs, reboots, out of memory), no lock or bad reception on GPS and severe halos on camera. The camera is still a mess after Nokia applied "the scratch fix" and is unusable when the flash has been used.
I know the N97 Mini has less memory, no FM-transimtter, etc. But is the N97 Mini free of the N97 issues or should try to get a refund in money instead?

The mini tends to have less issues as phone memory C is larger so doesn't run out of memory as quick and freeze, if you want an expert opinion look here

Music Files and Memory Card On N97 mini

I,ve own my N97 mini for about a month now, been serving me well except for this problem...
I created a folder on the E:/ drive for storing musics I transfered via PC Siute but I noticed that I can't seem to find the onces I trasfered via Bluetooth. When I open the music player and refresh, it seems some of the musics are not added to it. When I open the folder I created for musics I see the songs there but when I go back to the music player it ain't there.
What can be done?
I added an 8G memory card to my phone and it's been misbehaving. Problems ranging from slow boot up and opening of applications to this error NOT ENOUGH MEMORY PLEASE DELETE SOME DATA whenever I try to open the music player. I understand that N97 mini can take upto 16G memory card but how come 8G gives it problems?

Why on EARTH are you transferring music by Bluetooth ??? Simply connect the phone to your computer by usb cable in Mass Media mode. The phone will show in 'My Computer' as an external hard drive E. Open it and your music folder will be there. Then drag and drop any music you want FROM your computer TO the 'Music' folder on your phone, safely disconnect the phone from computer, go to music player and refresh music, that's all there is to it !!

N97 Mini Memory Card Problem

I've been having a problem with my N97 Mini since installing a SanDisk 16Gb Memory Card.
When switching on the phone it quite often reboots. It will then work fine.
I also get 'memory full' or 'security module' errors. I can fix the issue by rebooting or ejecting the memory card in the file manager (even though I don't need to physically remove the memory card).
If I remove the memory card it works fine and I can't reproduce the errors.
I tried reformatting the card but it hasn't helped; even though it's blank.
Could it be a problem with the phone hardware, the memory card or the firmware (I'm running v11 on vf uk)?

So I've now switched to a Nokia memory card.
It came in official Nokia packaging, however there's no markings on the memory card or included adaptor that it's made by (or for) Nokia. Having looked online I can see there are other examples of this.
I did wonder if it was genuine!
However it works much much better with my phone.
The Security Module Error has completely gone, it very occasionally does the random reboot on startup, and gives a 'memory full' error, but I think this may be due to an issue with Ovi Maps and the amount of music I have on there.
I will try (another) full reset just to make sure but otherwise the phone's now working well.

One other thing you can do is to go into application manager and remove all the share location stuff that came with maps3.03 (or even try maps 3.04 beta from Nokia Beta Labs but still remove share location) this will give you a couple of meg back. And if you want to share your location use the nokia social messaging from beta labs/Ovi Store which lets you share location on posts and can be installed on E

N97 mini memory issues

hi!
i got n97 mini.
i had some probs with it so i started saving apps from ovi on my memory card and my msgs on the mass memory so if my n97 need to be reset i wont lose too much data.
now i got two probs ,
1. i installed couple of programs from ovi, and they worked for a while and now when i click on them it doesnt do anything, i tried to uninstall them but they dont apear on my installion apps, so i tried to download again from ovi but it doesnt let me download what i already downloaded , i even formatted my memory card , now all the apps icons removed but still i cant download from ovi.
2. the msgs on the mass memory works but once in a while when i receive or send an sms i get an error msg which tells me that now it will use the phone memory, andi need to go to settings again and chage it to mass memory and the msg i had just sent is saved on the phone memory and not on the mass memory.

Hi, for message storage, it's a tait of Nokia phones, thet after connection by usb that the storage point will revert to C, so when I disconnect my phone from computer I always check it's still set to E.
As for apps, there are loads of sources other than Ovi, try Getjar .com, you can download to computer and just drag and drop.
As for ovi store, I don't use the app, I simplyuse web browser to go there (it keeps trying to make you install ovi store but ignore it, just select exit.) find the app you want log in and download.

Ovi app wizard apps on n97 mini

i cant get any of the new ovi app wizard apps to load on my n97 mini? the app opens but the feed doesnt load, does anyone have any idea how i can sort this? thanx in advance.

i have this experienced too.
At last i found out that it is because you have update your ovi suite and the setting within will change.
Be sure you have check you map store location are on the correct place as if you have memory card installed.
First :- On your ovi suite, go to TOOLS -> OPTIONS -> MAPS.
On your right hand side you will see "SELECT THE DEVICE MEMORY USED FOR SAVING MAPS DATA".
Below it have a drop box. Make sure the drop box is not empty (it will be if you did not connect your phone.)
If you have connect your phone then the memory location should be MASS MEMORY (E
once this set, click ok then back to maps.
if it does not refresh. unplug your phone and plug it in again.
If this still not help then go to your phone delete CITIES folder and QF files. ( you will need to re-donwload the MAPS and voice guidance).
After delete it, you will need to acess the MAPS program on your phone to regenerate that folders and file you have delete.
also remember to check the setting on your phone is same as your computer, MAPS storage location are same MASS MEMORY (E.

N97 and memory card?

well i've got a N97 to try out for a couple of weeks and thought setting it up would be a quick exercise but its not to be. i thought after backing up my n95, all i'd need to do is pop the memory card into the 97 and do a restore, but this didn't seem possible, it seems unable to read the card. does it need formatting so the n97 can read/write to it?
i'm just transfering all my music i have on my card to the phone via windows media player and i'm going to be here hours! (i couldn't figure out how to do it with the nokia software)!

The card doesn't need to be set up differently. I'm using the card out of my N95 (although admittidly I did format it to keep things nice and clean). I did notice however that the folder structure seems to be the same as on the N95.
Things don't just "restore" themselves however. Music should appear in the Music Player after refreshing your library but applications won't normally re-install themselves - hey it's S60 5th edition on the N97 anyway so not all your S60 3rd edition apps will work now.
There's a good application called "Switch". Have a look on your N95 under Tools -> Utilities.
You can use Switch to copy over all your contacts, messages calendar entries etc. which is what I did when I got my N97 - it works a treat.
If you're still having a problem with music however then try refreshing your music library from within the options in Music Player...

Someone told me that Real Player is already installed in N97 mini but my N97 mini don't have this software, ca you explain?

Your phone does have real player, that's what it shows video on, use your camera to make a short video, play it, and it's playing on Real Player ! You can install YouTube, try Ultimate Video, Try Skyfire, just search the web (BBC iPlayer if you live in the UK), check out Getjar.com, search Ovi store, try some forums, there are loads !!
But your phone DOES have Real Player.
