N97 mini phone memory

Hello,
I have a N97 mini which i like but it started coming up with memory error messages and saying i needed to close applications, also the max amount of text i could have on my phone was 85. i have unistalled most of the pre-installed Apps which has free'd up some memory space on my phone. the memory messages have stopped now but i was wondering if there are any other files i can delete to free up even more space on the phone.
I currently have 223MB free on my phone. is this a good amount ? or can more be found ?
thanks

One problem that I had after phone crashes on the N97 mini was that some of my settings changed causing data to get stored on device memory instead of mass memory.  The two biggest culprits were messaging and podcasting.
Check your settings for both of these programs to make sure that they are not saving to device memory.
You can also go to settings/phone/application settings and check all of your applications to see what memory they are using.
If, like me, you are syncing with an exchange server and have hundreds of contacts, hundreds of calendar entries and thousands of e-mails, it won't take long for your device memory to get maxed out.  That will cause problems running basic tasks.

  • N97 - lacking phone memory

As you know, the Nokia N97 has two memories: mass memory 32 GB, and phone memory (about 70 MB). My phone permanently lacks the latter one. Long time ago did I uninstall almost all the applications installed by default for an unknown reason in the small phone memory. I don't keep SMS's there. When I check the files manager, it says I have more than 60 MB of "other files". I can't localize them either using phone's files manager, or pluging the phone to my computer. What are those "other files" and how can I free my phone's memory?

Have a look at the link below for suggestions on how you can free up some phone memory.

  • N97 Mini - Phone Data Lost when Lock Code is chang...

    Hi,
I have changed the 'Lock Code' of my N97 mini under Settings>Phone>Phone Management> Security Settings> Phone and SIM Card> Lock Code. And to my surprise, after I changed the Lock Code, I found that all my contacts, messages and notes are lost. But Photos/Videos/Recorded files are available. I have tried all the ways but could not see the contacts/messages/notes/calendar entries. Unfortunately I donot have a back up of the data. Is there a way to restore the contacts/messages/notes on the phone?

That won't work... reason being is you need the following requirements for the iPhone 4.
    Mac system requirements
Mac computer with USB 2.0 port
Mac OS X v10.5.8 or later
iTunes 10.1 or later (free download from www.itunes.com/download)
    iTunes Store account
    Internet access
    Windows system requirements
    PC with USB 2.0 port
Windows 7; Windows Vista; or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later
iTunes 10.1 or later (free download from www.itunes.com/download)

  • Nokia N97 - C: Phone Memory Update 7.1

    Hi,
Can anyone advise on the below?
I installed the C: Phone Memory Update 7.1 which I downloaded using the phone's inbuilt Software Updater and now none of the widgets (Facebook, AccuWeather) on the homescreen work.  The boxes just show "Loading Content".
I've tried the "Restore Factory Settings" feature and this hasn't helped.  I've also tried re-installing the applications in question, to no avail.
    Thanks

ok go to teh app you want on the home screen, launch it and get position for accu or log into face book once that is done do not exit the app just let it run, go back to the main screen and see if there is any difference. that is what i have to do sometimes.

  • [N97 mini] phone freaks out when I want to pick up...

Is there some sort of workaround, tweak or app available that can prevent my phone from freaking out when I want to receive a phone call? It is simply impossible to see who is calling because the display will not display anything for a few seconds when it's rotated. It is also not possible to use the slider keys to pick up or decline the call. Is there some way to prevent the display from rotating without disabling auto rotating all together?

    1. iTunes Menu > Store > Authorize This Computer
    2. iTunes Menu > Store > Sign in
    3. iTunes prefs > Devices > Prevent .... from syncing automatically
    4. With iTunes open, connect phone
    5. iTunes Menu > File > Devices > Transfer Purchases
    6. iTunes Menu > File > Devices > Backup
Now safe to sync.  You will lose any music/media on the phone that was NOT purchased from the iTunes Store (i.e. ripped CD's, MP3's from other sources)

  • N97 mini locking up - out of memory

I am currently experiencing an intermittent fault with my wife's N97 mini phones, where, unexplainable, it "locks up" and prevents any functions other than the Home screen.
It eventually indicates that it has run out of memory and to close applications. There are no applications running and the only way to clear this fault is to remove the battery temporarily, and then replace it and turn the phone back on. All is good until the next "lock-up", usually within 1 - 2 weeks.
We were advised to update the software, but this has not made any difference.
My own N97 mini has not had this fault occur to date.

Looks like some application is tying up the phone memory and not freeing it afterwards. It could be an application your wife installed recently or a setting she changed or corruption of one of the existing applications. Every time you remove the battery, you reboot the phone and free it up again. I suggest resetting the phone using the *#7370# reset. This reset will wipe all data on the phone so please backup your phone before resetting. Try to backup the bare minimum to minimise the possibility of restoring the cause after rthe reset.

  • N97 Software Update C: Phone Memory

I just happened to check my Sofware update from my phone and noticed a "N97 C: Phone Memory" update.
    Description
This update reorganizes the C: Phone memory to optimize it for more user memory available for possible SW installations on this drive.
    Version 7.1(1)
Is this new? And has anyone did it yet?  What exactly does it do?

you are welcome and hopefully next firmware update is to follow really really soon. and that for us n97 users will be great news ! its supposed to address some really annoying things like bt connections for some and of course my infamous charging issue.

  • N97 mini maps problem !

hi all, i have a n97 mini and i hard formated it then i loaded all software now i can't enter my maps, after i open, it s closing in 1-2 seconds i don't understand what's going on :/ pls help help help me

    @behzatkara
    Welcome to the forum!
Regrettably neither of the two previous posts appear to address your issue with one under the misapprehension that you are using N97 where phone memory is certainly a problem instead of N97 Mini in question.
It is more likely here that you have corrupt map data, which is the commonest  cause of OVI Maps crashing upon opening! When you updated OVI Maps application to latest v3.06 it needs to delete previous 0.1.25.114 map data used by v3.04 to make way for 0.2.42.122 map set. Whilst there is a message saying that old map data will need to be removed, it requires confirmation by the user.
Suggest that you try deleting E:\Cities + .qf file, re-start OVI Maps application upon device to re-initialise application and re-create necessary folder structure. You now have option of downloading regional maps using either "Update" feature within application upon device via WLAN access point or use OVI Suite > Maps as previously if so preferred.

  • N97 Mini Texting Issue

I just got a N97 Mini phone yesterday, and it's been working fine. Calling and receiving calls work, and receiving texts works. My network signal is as strong as ever. However, whenever I send text messages, my friends say that they never received any messages. I've sent about 20 messages and none of them has been received. I also saw a post that says that it might be linked to the SMS Memory Full warning. I did have that warning, so I fixed it and the blinking envelope is gone. But people still can't receive my texts, but I can still receive others' texts....
    Help???

Operator or Service Provider is one and the same.. Message center is one thru' which the messages are relayed. Contact the operator and ask the settings.. You may even ask them where to enter the details..
before that you may try this..
    Messaging-->Options-->Settings-->Text Message...
Message center in use-->SIM Message centre
    Message sent as-->Text
    Preferred Connection-->GSM
    Reply via same centre -->Yes
If this do not help, contact Operator..

  • N97 mini misses alarms

in N97 mini how can I avoid it to miss notes alarms if I turn phone on after the alarm is expired?
older nokia phones advise you that some alarms have been missed

If I'm looking: Menu > Settings > Application Mgr. > Installed apps. - what incidences of either Nokia or OVI Maps do you have installed already?
I see neither Nokia, nor Ovi, nor any Maps at all.
So nothing even worth trying to remove.
And plus to all - My Nokia was on touchscreen warranty repair - so it was like new from box.
Before warranty there was this problem and after receiving from warranty - same problem.
Only I restored backed up contents before trying tu update OviMaps...

Company gave me Asha 300, so frustrating, that I use my old E50 instead...

  • N97 mini Hang-up, sudden reboots, touch screen non...

Malfunctioning started 5-6 months after purchase.
At first few times no any possibility to answer a call - sliding on screen when keys locked or touching answer screen button, or green button after display/key unlock did not worked.
Only possibility to talk with caller - call back immediately (it works) an excuse for that problem.
Lately phone started to reboot after ending calls or after (or while) using as internet connection modem. Or sometimes rebooted by itself just standing by on table...
Sometimes keyboard does not work, working only screen.
Then become next problem - or touch-screen does not respond or respond awkward or totally different as should.
Then touch-screen malfunction together with keyboard not functioning.
After a month spent at sellers repair first 3 days - everything worked as should. I started to believe - problems gone, but that happiness was only for three days..
Question - is this model is most buggy faulty or so? Nearly 400 EUR for top series N class disaster is quite a big money... How nokia thinks to solve this problem? As I understood I'm not the one and only with that big list of problems for 400 EUR...

Yesterday evening I gave back my faulty item to repair center. They said that, previously service center most likely couldn't find the cause of problem and just renewed the firmware.
Strangely - Yesterday morning talk with Nokia Customer care center figured out, that there were NO ANY registered repair or update action made by authorized service (and must be  registered). May be nothing was done or service center is not so "official".
Thank Good, yesterday the phone showed up the malfunction and guy said - most likely it is resistive touch sensor problem that should be replaced, because it after some time wears out or is tended to bend or so - so it becomes malfunctioning and should be replaced...
Strange - if the phone costs ~400 EUR the touch-screen sensor should be more wear-tear, bend or any problem resistant to average phone use conditions. To face this problem every 3 to 9 months - doesn't seams to be fair offer for that price...
Today I was promised to have a call from service - within what time phone will be back to me at working order... Still waiting.

  • Opinion & Advise on N97 mini

    Users,
I need to know your opinion and get advise on N97 mini phone.
Is it worth to buy and use for our daily life?
BTW, i am not heavy phone user.
    Thanks.

Yes I love mine. It's not as slick as iphone, but makes up for it in other departments (keyboard, camera, screen resolution, full multitasking).

  • N97/Mini Bots

New beta labs app offered today, I've just installed it and giving it a go, in theory it should give me the perfect shortcut bar in a couple of weeks, if it doesn't I can always delete it
I'm sure it will work as I've tried many bete lab products in rhe past and they've worked well.

  • Nokia N97 Mini automatically restarts

My N97 mini phone restarts automatically. without any reason...
it restars continuously mainly while using messaging also when uses settings menu.
do u hav any solution for this.....?
i've already done hard reset & firmware updation.

Since you've already tried resetting, another common cause of restarting is a faulty sim card. If you have an old sim, it may be time to ask your network for a replacement and see if that does the trick.
