N97 Mini Restarts often for no reason

Hi, I had bought a N97 Mini and soon found it crashing while using different apps or while typing a message. There is no definite patterns for these crashes though. I then got replaced the phone with another piece and surprisingly found the same issue with the new device.
I am now in FIX. What do i do?? i tried calling up the customer care and they updated that there is new firmware for the same nor is this a know issue with thN97 mini.
Can anyone please help on this??? I am anyhow going to get this replaced by a new piece of N97 mini but not sure if its a hardware or a software issue.

It's always advisable to do a hard reset when doing a software update and to only backup your contacts, calendar and notes. A full backup and restore could re-install conflict between the new software and the old. It's a bit of a pain, but should provide a much better result !
Dial *#7370# followed by 12345, the phone will shutdown and revert to 'out of the box' condition, then install/re-install the latest software, and set up your phone manually and install whatever apps you want (on E mass memory where ever possible) and you shpuld find the phone will run much better !

N97 mini restart problem

hi guys
i have n97 mini for last six months, nowadays when i restart the phone from the power button, the white screen with word NOKIA appears and it hangs there.
but when i do by soft reset method (through power cable connection) , it starts..
ny solution to start the phone in normal way..

Unfortunately it is not a software issue. Yo did not mention which country you are from but in the past, phones from countries where GPS is prohibited usually have the necessary gps hardware omitted. Since the hardware is missing there is nothing you can do about it.
You should however still be able to buy a bluetooth gps receiver and use your phone that way. They are fairly cheap nowadays.

N79 Freeze often for no reason

Hello All,
       I am using N79 for past one month. From the day one I am facing lots of problem with it. Previously I was using 6630. Which was much better in performance that N79.
       My phone gets frozen often for no particular reasons. Mostly I noticed while trying to use WLAN (Both secured and non secured). Photo applications and some while accessing the contacts to make calls.
      Only way to recover of this issue to remove the battery and restart the phone. No other way........
It really hurts me to do so..... I have hardly used this when I was using 6630.....
On average atleast I am facing this problem 2days once.
My firmware is up today. (11.049)
   Please somebody reply me.....

I take a part that you bought this phone I have it too. Nokia has forgot their old users and they don't have any solutions for you to freezing problems or allmost any your problem with your phone. The N79's firmware is very buggy and slow to use and many have found that too

ps. I realy don't know why or where Nokia failed their stragedy (example flahship phone N96 took like a year to be like it sholud be(they released last week after looooong time new firmware to N96)). Doing this kind a **bleep** lose customers faith to Nokia.
pps. I hope we getupdate to N79 soon, but I think it is useless.

I am having problem with my n97 mini. Sometime it restarts (soft resart) automatically. many times it happens only when i send message or some time when flap is opened or closed. Is anybdy facing the same problem?

Most likely a simple software issue. Make a backup of your personal data using Ovi Suite, then perform a software update (if you already have the latest version, it will be reinstalled).
Restarts often happen if there is an issue with a particular app, in your case apparently the messaging app. It is a bit like when a program stops responding in Windows.

N97 mini: folder setting for image gallery / photo...

Hi I've just got a simple question: is it possible to choose the images folder(s) which are shown in photobrowser or image gallery on a n97 mini?
now it shows all the images on my device/mass storage/sdhc card, and I don't want that to happen. I want to be able to choose the folders which are shown. now it also shows all icons of my pois inthere, so i've got over 400 images (all images which are used by programs) while there are only about 50 files in the images folder.
now i have to scroll through 350 images which i don't need, just to find 1 photo i want to use as a background.
hoping that there will be a software update which allows for changing these settings, so that it only shows the folders I want to use.

You can use X-plore from "lonelycatgames" , to hide an entire folder, but those images are used by programs this would be of no use.
If you are interested to know how:
1ownload and install X-plore, their website, (trial works as good as full, with a just a splash screen at startup)
2: Open it, Create a folder any where on memory card. Or if you know the folders where "those 400" pictures reside, navigate to it.
3: click Options>file>attributes>and tick "Hidden" it'll ask "Do you want to edit attributes of all file in this folder?" click yes.
Now all the file in a particular folder are hidden, so they won't show up in gallery.

N97 mini restart application (software)?

Is there any software can do things such as: restart phone, turn off ...
The power button only turn on and turn off phone, can't reset if u need it in case phone got problem.
Tried to find but all are too old and not supported this devide.

You don't need special software to reset your N97 mini. You can reset your phone as follows:
*#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default
*#7370# - Reformat your phone
To Hard Reset, you need to press and hold the Caps + Space bar + Delete button and turn the phone on using the power button while continuing to hold the first 3 buttons until you see the handshake.
Always backup your phone regularly and before resetting because your data will be wiped, especially if you try the hard reset.

New to Apple - Need help. Here is the breakdown. I just got my wife a iPhone 4s and I'm trying to decide how to set it up. Should she get her own Apple ID or use mine? This for some reason is very confusing to me.

If she uses my Apple ID, will that cause issues with iMessage - say when I'm chatting with someone else and vice a versa. Will our messages show up on each others devices? How will a FaceTime call work? Will the video call come across both our devices (ipad also)?
Just some information that might be of note:
I have the new iPhone 4s, iPad2 and one iTunes account - the iTunes account is my Apple ID which I use also for the iCloud (I think...it's getting murky
What am I trying to achieve is having the ability for me (iphone, ipad) and my wife (iphone) to be able to share and sync just music, apps, movies, etc... I have Google Calender and I have not made up my mind yet if we will share a contacts list (I have large business list). Also this might be of note, I most likely will be using iTunes on my LG LCD TV (appleTV) at some point in the near future.
So, basically I'm confused, which is not unusual for me. If I'm thinking to much inside the box, please let me know and feel free to offer up any suggestions. Even if the suggestion is I'm not asking the right questions. Of course if that is your suggestion, then please tell me the question. And an answer would be nice to.

No it's not stealing. They have an allowance that you can share with so many computers/devices. You'll have to authorize her computer to play/use anything bought on your acct. You can do this under the Store menu at top when iTunes is open on her computer.
As far as getting it all on her computer....I think but I am not sure (because I don't use the feature) but I think if you turn on Home Sharing in iTunes it may copy the music to her computer. I don't know maybe it just streams it. If nothing else you can sign into your acct on her computer and download it all to her computer from the cloud. Not sure exactly how to go about that, I haven't had to do that yet. I wonder if once you authorize her computer and then set it up for automatic downloads (under Edit>Preferences>Store) if everything would download. Sorry I'm not much help on that.

MY N97 mini always searches for wifi when the scre...

This often happens when I unlock the touch screen (either by using the lock/unlock switch, or by slide out the keyboard). After the screen is lit, there pops up a window asking me to select a wifi network. If I press "cancel", it will do a wifi search again and asks me to select network again... This is quite annoying.
As there is no widget that needs internet access. I have also set "Show Wifi availability" to "Never".plz. help me

Mini loses music for no reason, then indicates no battery power

this may be two problems, but they seem to be related.
The original problem was that despite being fully charged, when I turn the mini on, it would say no battery power and then power down. I soon realized there was battery power and that you just had to keep turning it on and it would eventually stay on (most times)- annoying but not the end of the world until problem 2 occured.
NOW I HAVE A HUGE PROBLEM. The mini inadvertenly loses all of the music (it's backed up). It doesn't seem to have anything to do with my pc, because I loaded the music, went for a run and then the battery powered down in the middle of the run. So I powered it back up, and NO MUSIC,NO PLAYLISTS- NOTHING.
I did the 5 R's, BTW.

And, as this thread mentions, the player actually keeps playing (you can see the time counter going) but there is no sound. This is how it works on my Tour.
I installed another player, Mobiola xPlayer, and guess what ....exactly the same problem with the sound stopping in the same places.

Once you set up an access point on your N97mini it will connect to the internet as defined in the accesspoint. You can change these settings but you need to switch to the offline profile or have an active Wi-Fi connection to be allowed to edit the settings.
You can switch to the offline profile by taping the off/on button for the profile menu to appear and selecting, then activating the offline profile.
To edit, go to MENU>Settings>Connectivity>Destinations>Internet and select the mobile data access point. The last option allows changing settings how the connection is set up between 'Always/Automatically' or 'After confirmation/when needed'.
You could also setup the option to choose your default connection to always ask in MENU>Settings>Connectivity>Destinations > Options>Default connection

Nokia n97 mini sound quality for videos

I used to have a nokia N95 8GB which recorded great videos with good sound quality. Now I have the N97mini and for most videos you can barely hear the sound unless it is you speaking. Is there any way to record better video sound quality?

Snare keeps going mute every so often for no reason..

so i have a recorded region of a kick and snare midi notes and lately in the session the snare will drop out yet there are still midi notes present in the piano that had not been manually muted or erased... can anyone tell me what this glithch may be? thanks

so to fix it sometimes i will quit logic and then re open the project and the snare will be heard again but it continues cutting out here and again. specifically just this snare midi that is clearly visible in the piano roll, not on mute or anything that could have changed it ...

N97 Mini Bluetooth problems

Hi: I have used to have a N86 which worked flawlessly with my 2005 Mitsubishi Outlander Handsfree system. But when I changed my phone to the N97 mini, it pairs fine but doesn't work properly.
When I call manually from the phone, the handsfree takes over and I can carry on conversation with the handsfree.
When I initiate a call from my car's voice activated handsfree bluetooth, nothing happens with the phone. It freezes my handsfree (radio) for two minutes. Then after two minutes, my phone says disconnected from handsfree, then reconnects automatically. I still cannot initiate a call from the car. But i can still call out as aforementioned.
When I receive a call in the car, the handsfree engages my phone as it should. So no problem receiving calls.
Please advise if this is a bug with the N97 becuase I have no problems with the N86.

Well, - I'm having the same problem as described in the first post. The N97 mini connects flawlessly with some PCs, headsets, and handsfree car systems.
I disagree with the purpose of remote SIM mode as before mentioned. Remote SIM access is to support the rSAP (remote SIM access profile) installed in some premium handsfree systems (like in my Skoda Superb) and basically lets the handsfree system 'steal' your SIM, including PIN etc. over BT for use with its own built in phone.
But in my new Mazda MX-5 I am having trouble to place calls with the handsfree car system. It is not a rSAP capable system and I have tried with and without rSAP in the N97 mini enabled, to no avail.
The N97 mini pairs fine and I can receive incoming calls. Also, I can place calls from the device itself, but when I try to place a call over the car's handsfree system it basically freezes for a few minutes before the car system throws an error. During these minutes I can see on the car display that it looses connection to the phone, albeit the N97 mini still shows connected state. Once these 1 or 2 minutes have passed, the phone shows disconnected, and then reconnects immediately. By experimenting a bit, I found that when I change the BT visibility, from not visible to visible or vice versa, during those minutes, the phone catches up with the number and dials.
And yes, my N97 mini is on the latest FW (12.0.110).
It's a pity that this problem is obviously already so old, that I have little hope Nokia is going to fix it. My old 6600i slide, and my wifes 6131 are working like a charm, unfortunately I need the N97 mini to work for other reasons ...
Despite I don't know if the N8 would work, it's not an option since it's not supported by PC Suite anymore, thus doesn't synchronize with Lotus Notes, which is what I need at work.

Software Updater ran, restarted, booted from external FW HD for no reason??

I did a Software Update yesterday and got the latest iWeb and Quicktime. I was then prompted to restart the computer, it restarted and for some reason used by backup external FW HD as the startup disc. The internal drive is, and has always been, the startup disc. While running from the backup drive, I went Startup Disk in System Prefs, selected the internal drive and restarted. It restarted from the internal drive perfectly. I recently ran Drive Genius on the internal and external drives and the permissions are repaired nightly when SuperDuper makes an overnight Smart Backup of my system... the internal drive on my iMac was just replaced by Apple less than a month ago. Can't figure why the internal drive wouldn't get used. Why might the system have randomly elected to use the external FW HD as the boot drive?

I don't have an answer for you, because I've never seen that behavior, but suggest that you unmount and power-off any external HDs while doing updates. That will preclude that from ever happening again.

N97 mini software stuck at v11.0.105

Just installed the nokia suite v3.4.40 and plug in my n97 mini to check for update. It's showing that my v11.0.105 is latest and up-to-date software.
I don't understand why, the latest software should be v30. xxxxx
Please help me. I want update!

Have you checked thru' the Phone whether any update is available ? Sometimes these are ONLY released thru' FOTA for specific Product Codes ...(Menu-->Applications-->Software Updates...).
If still no luck, ask your local Nokia Care whether they can be of any help ...
