N97 mini Share Online Flickr upload bug

While trying to upload picture made with highest quality (5M) there is an error message telling that picture has unsupported file format and rejected by service. Pictures made with average quality (2M) are uploaded very well. This issue is never mentioned in any manuals...

I tried to set up my Flickr account using the Share Online service on my Nokia N97. It kept failing to set up the account giving me Error 404. I deleted the service in the hope that it would reinstall correctly but now I can't retrieve the Flickr service at all and I don't want to use the Ovi site as it's rubbish.

Me too -- no Flickr... I tried to 'update services' with the 'Share online' app, but only 'Ovi by Nokia' came up. When I tried to config Ovi, it errored with a blank web page (http://www.)... I wonder if this will be fixed?

N97 - Share Online to Flickr - Multiplying copies ...

I've always used the Share Online function to upload photos to my Flickr account and it's worked fine until recently, now for no apparent reason it uploads multiple copies of the same image, which means I have to spend ages deleting all these copies from my Flickr account. The Share Online says the uploads are failing when they are not, so just keep duplicating the upload. Please help?
I've seen several people having the same problem on the Flickr forum but Flickr say that there's nothing they can do as it's a 3rd party app provided by Nokia, hence me posting here.

[N97 mini - UPDATED] Well known bug: "camera alrea...

I updated my N97 mini device to latest fw which is 30.04.
Like whenever I capture image with my camera, after capturing image I can't interact with the handset.
Rather it shows "camera already in use".
I have to wait a lot more rather usual time in order to delete captured image or interact. Is there any solution of this?
I heard of some mod which arent authorized can fix it. But i don't trust those, neither I think is acceptable to be forced to put "custom" firmware to solve a problem Nokia should have fixed asap.
Of course I won't buy another Nokia cellphone anymore and I will discourage friends (and they are really many) to do the same because of lack of support.
Please:
- don't tell me it is a problem of my phone because it is not (all people with N97 mini have the same problem)
- don't tell me to reset it or to re-update firmware because it is useless (and I have already tried it)
- tell me you are awared of the problem and it will be fixed in the next coming firmware release because it is the only thing worth saying

Automatic uploading with Share Online

Does Share Online allow automatically uploading all your photos? I have half a notion that I considered using such a setting a while ago, and think that it might be enabled, but I can't actually find such an option anywhere. Am I mad?
Help I'm trapped in a sig factory.

N97 mini - Music player bugs

Opening the podcast in the music player reveals several options missing, like least played, never played etc. As a frequent user of podcast, the options are used all the time. They are missing in N97 mini, however available in N97, N86, 5800.

Only 23 images viewable from Share online - Nokia ...

I have uploaded a bunch of photographs(100+) from my PC onto share.ovi.com. Now when I try to see all the uploaded images using Share Online feature on my Nokia 5800, only 23 images(latest uploaded) show up under "my media". If I have to view other photographs, then I have to use browser on my phone. Is there a way to see all the images that I have uploaded using Share Online without opening browser on my 5800 xpress?

I've managed to figure out what's wrong with this app: for all of you folks having this problem when try to upgrade Share online app to the latest version (3.0.08.23), download the correct package (SO3.0.08.23_S6031_OS_U.sis) from here: http://www.nokiausa.com/get-support-and-software/learn-how/sharing-and-blogging/download
Most of other international Nokia' sites are pointing to a wrong sis file.

Share Online 3.0

I've got flickr working with Share Online 3.0. However under "Your contacts' photos and videos" there are no pics and when I do "Update now" it doesn't seem to change the last updated time, which to me makes me think it's not doing an update.
Anyone else had this problem or knows why this might be?

I have a similar problem.
All pictures that I had uploaded, didn't showed in "Public photos". My settings are to public permission, and when I access the URL of Flickr, the pictures are visible.
When I uploaded a picture from website Flickr, the "Public photos" counter is updated.
I think that is a bug of Share Online, because only the pictures that I had sent by It didn't updated the counter.

So I can't believe I can't sync my contacts and calendar on my mac with my brand new phone when I could do it without problems with my good ol' E65.
Anyone by luck have any info on a release date or should I switch back to good ol'E65?

Long time mate. Hope things are going better with the N97 than before. I think I did not explain my position well, but actually I agree with everything you wrote. What I was trying to say is that while Nokia has multiple operating systems, they release hundreds of phones that share the same OS, i.e. E71, E90 or N85 and N86 and so on. Nokia can easily create a generic plugin across the board for these OS's with little or no effort but they have not done so. The fact that the N97 was (and still is a disaster in my opinion) should be proof positive to the Mac community that they are wasting their time on Nokia products. Or, they should realize that Nokia does not really care much for them and they should adjust accordingly. As I stated, I posted that the Mac community should forgo the N97 Mini until it is proven that there is support for this phone. Surely the N97 fiasco is a waking call that Nokia does not care about Mac, or at least not much. Any Mac user that purchases a Nokia phone without checking for support first has only him or herself to blame and should not come here complaining. There is a proven track record of incompetence on Nokia's part to look back on.

I know its not a big problem, i am most probably being picky here and I have found a workaround using a program called pixelPipe but why when you go to the Share Online menu of the Nokia 5800 why is Facebook not in the list? - all I have on mine is ovi by Nokia, Flickr, and I think at one time vox showed up (never even heard of it before!)

RSS/news reader for the N97 Mini?

I use Google Reader a lot for keeping up with news and developments in my field.
However, it's a real pain to access Google Reader through the built-in browser in the N97 Mini. And there seems to be no simple, straightforward way to insert all the feeds (on my gReader account) into the phone.
Are there any news reader (RSS, Atom) applications for Symbian/Nokia phones that you would recommend?
There are many excellent free RSS-reader apps for the iPhone and Windows Mobile, but I can't seem to find a half-decent one for Nokia phones. Even a search on Ovi Store only brought up two. Both are not free and don't have spectacular reviews. (If I'm going to pay for it, I want to know it's a great, bug-free application first!)

the best out there is currently google reader. its not an online app, but more of a webpage, the interface is similar to the full blown google reader. visit www.google.com/reader from the default web browser.

"Share to Flickr" stopped transferring tags and descriptions from PSE10.

The "Share to Flickr" function suddenly stopped transferring tags and descriptions when uploading photos from PSE10. The only event that preceded this error was a prompt to "authorize" my Flickr account (when this prompt happens on occasion, I simply re-authorize my Flickr account and everything usually returns to normal).
Here is what I've tried so far, with various ordering of steps:
Preferences-Adobe Partner Services-Reset Accounts
Preferences-Adobe Partner Services-Clear Online Service Data
Preferences-Adobe Partner Services- Refresh
Deleting the cache folder found at: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Online Services\Photoshop Elements 10.0.0\cache
Any other suggestions? My photos continue to upload and appear on Flickr, but the hours of time consuming effort I put into tagging and captioning my photos is no longer displayed on my Flickr page.

I have tried using PSE 9 & PSE 10 - they both omit the tags when uploading the images to Flickr.
If I upload the same image directly to the Flickr page then the tags are copied.
I am beginning to think that the problem may lie in the Adobe uploader service. When you use PSE to share to Flickr, the images are sent to the Adobe uploader service which then passes them to Flickr. The same Adobe service is used by Lightroom and I believe that has an option to minimize the metadata. I'm wondering if the service has been changed to minimize the metadata by default but we don't have a way of changing the default.
I would be interested to hear if Jon can get it to work correctly on PSE - then I know whether to carry on looking or not. I'm sure that it will work on Lightroom.
I have downloaded the Flickr uploader tool and use drag & drop from PSE to the uploader. If you write the tags to the photos first, they are copied to Flickr.

Publish and Share, Online option does nothing.

I am unable to upload to YouTube etc as the online option does not work when clicked on. Have I missed a setting somwhere?

Please clarify...do you click on "Online" and get now further or do you click on "Online", get it to open so that you see YouTube but there are no presets for YouTube or are you doing something else?
Assuming for now that you get no further than "Online"....
When you go to Publish+Share/Online where you will find choices for uploading your Timeline (Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo), when you click on Online for the first time I find that you must wait for these presets and their choices to be downloaded. Once these presets are downloaded, then you will see the presets and their optons. In view of that, my questions would be:
a. The usual drill...do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed and are you running Premiere Elements 11 Windows from a User Account with Administrative Priviliedges?
b. Is you Internet connection working properly?
c. Have you tried to delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file? The route in Windows 7 or 8 64 bit would be:
Local Disk C
Users
Owner
AppData
Roaming
Adobe
Premiere Elements
11.0
and in the 11.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete.
Make sure that you are working with Folder Options Show Hidden Files, Folders and Drives ON.

Tags/Captions and Flickr Upload w/ PSE4

Not sure if this is a PSE problem or a Flickr problem, figured I'd ask here first to see if anyone else uploads to Flickr.
I caption and tag my pictures in PSE, then do a "write tags to file". When I upload those pictures to Flickr (using the Flickr Uploader), maybe 95% do not have a caption, and 5% does. The difference with that 5% is that those are pictures I've edited within PSE multiple times. It seems like either my PSE captions aren't getting saved with the rest of the pictures, or Flickr isn't pulling them.
Anyone have any experiences either way or ideas? Please tell me there's a way to fix this.

Initially I imagine it not being integrated directly into PSE. In other words it wouldn't be a drop down in the share button toolbar. I've done a little bit of research and poked around in the data files and haven't found a way that I could integrate it just yet but I'm still looking. This would definitely be cool to do.
When you say, "ability to chose to send tags and captions with the pictures without having to write tags to the original file," I assume you mean not writing to the meta data of the image? Here's a quick step-by-step overview of how I imagine the app working that should hopefully clarify this point as well as make it more clear how I imagine the app running.
Let me preface the description by saying I would try and write the application in such a way where it could easily be expanded to support other photo sharing services and possibly other photo cataloging apps (though this is much less of a priority).
1.) Start PSESync (this was just an initial name idea. If anybody has any name suggestions I would love to hear them).
2.) Choose a catalog to work with (file dialog, drop-down, etc).
3.) Choose a service to sync your catalog with (this would initially only be Flickr but could be branched out to another service or even a simple XML output).
5.) Enter in needed parameters for the service (in the case of Flickr the username and password of the account your using)
4.) Press the "Analyze" button.
5.) PSESync will first check to see if your catalog has ever been synced with the selected service before. If not it will create a new table in the catalog database to contain the sync information.
6.) PSESync will then sync your images (including captions and tag information) and collections with the service. No changes will be made to the images at sync time, only the data that PSE keeps (captions, tags, etc). I may include automatic resizing of images when a new image is uploaded but this would probably come after the initial release.
By syncing I mean any information that is newer in the catalog then they are in the service will overwrite data in the service and any information that is newer in the service will overwrite the data in the catalog. The details of how this process would work are still being worked out.
I'm hoping that in the next couple of days I can get the basics of PSESync scoped and also get create the project on Sourceforge (http://www.sourceforge.net) to track feature requests, bugs, etc. I'll post that information when it's available but for the time being if anybody has any suggestions I'm all ears.

Share to Flickr in PSE6

I'm trying to get the "Share to Flickr" service to work by following the instructions in http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb403063, but every time I reset my online services, restart, then refresh, the Flickr service doesn't show up.
Is this service for real? Has anyone else gotten it to work?

Im working at the Technical Support in Amsterdam and i had a user with the same problem and she reffered to this thread as a refference.
In the 4th post Jeff Burnstein did some great work using a 3rd party program to find a solution. That however we cant reccomend as its not Adobe software.
Building on his idea I came up with an alternative solution of replacing the file that is handeling the online services. What I did with a customer was to take my entry.dat file from my PSEL 6.0 and send that too her and asked her to follow these instructions.
1. Remove the current Entry.dat file
2. Turn of the automatic update of online services
3. put in the entry.dat file in the place you had your old file.
This allows her to use the service.
After that I have now confirmed this with our senior support teams and while they had difficulties understanding exactly what I had done they do say that OEM versions should not have this restriction and they approve of this solution as a workaround until the point of a propper solution gets implemented.
The entry.dat files can be copied from any working version of PSEL 6.

And as a last note. THIS SOLUTION IS ONLY WHEN YOU HAVE OEM VERSION AND YOU HAVE ALREADY CHECKED THE DOCUMENT SUGGESTED BEFORE.
LOCATION MUST BE SET TO US&CANADA.
