N97 MINI V12 Backup error with Nokia Maps Beta 3.0...

After installation nokia maps 3.06 beta on my fresh hardware reset n97 mini v12 is not possible to make backup from mobile to Memory card from File manager. Phone memory on C: is 220 MB.
With nokia maps 3.04 backup is ok, with 3.06 error: Memory full, operation canceled (kind)
I think firmware upgrade from v12 to v20 delay, the reason nokia maps 3.06 is not perfectly integred full functionaly in new firmware.

have the same problem. I think its a bug in SW 12.. , after a hard reset it worked well until I installed some programs (incl. Maps 3.06). Backup only with PC or Ovi Suite able to do.

  • Special characters issue with Nokia Maps on N95

    Hi there,
when using Navigation in conjunction with Nokia Maps on my N95, all streets and towns which contain any special character in their name (for example: é, è, ü, ä, ö, etc…) do appear as unreadable garbage on the screen of the N95.
I only noticed the problem after having purchased the 3 years license Navigation upgrade (EUR 99.99) and immediately notified Nokia. That was back in October. Since then I have called them at least 10 times and ultimately I have asked for a refund as no solution is still available.
In all these calls with Nokia, the only reasonable argument I heard was that maybe (!!!) the new software update version 20.0.015 released back at the end of November could solve the issue. Unfortunately, for my phone (which is a branded one) the update is not yet available.
Today, after calling them again, I was told that Nokia’s policies do not foresee refunds and therefore my request has been rejected. I was told to bring my phone to a Nokia Store and see if they can help me (I don’t see how). I was also told that maybe I would have to send-in the phone for repair.
This is soooo frustrating that despite the 3 months of patience and all the money spent for the N95 (not quite cheap), the navigation upgrade and the phone calls to Nokia, I still have the same issue. I will probably end up filing a complaint with a monthly consumer’s magazine in the hope they will publish my story.
After all, it may not even be Nokia’s fault but rather the guys who are responsible for the maps, but if Nokia accepts to have a commercial venture with a vendor, than they also accept liability for the joint product. And by turning down my legitimate request for refund, they have proven not to give a **bleep** about people like you and me.
Forgive me for the long post - needed to release some of the frustration...

I have been using an N95-8GB since Nov.'07. From my experience with this phone that has a built-in mass memory besides the phone memory. I had trouble retrieving some of the softwares I have installed. For eg. I have saved some themes in the mass memory & I could not find it when I want to delete it. There are some 3rd parties games software inside where I cannot even delete
This is what I don't like about the phone. I have bought an N82/Black recently as it uses an external memory card.
Coming back to Nokia maps. Personnaly, I don't think they are that good & I have problem downloading it into my phone from my PC after having downloaded it from Nokia.
By the way the Nokia map is not even the latest map 2.0. Is still a 1.0
I used Navfone map software & it works OK in the 8GB. You have to purchase it.
    I have used a couple of N-series phones in the past ie. N-90, N-70, N-71, N-73, N-80/Black, N95, N-95/8GB & now N-82.
Common with all N-series phones. After you have disconnected when you are done with your call you have to wait for a while before the word "disconnected" disappears.
The more features it has, the more problem you are gonna to encounter.
Unless you want to download softwares into your phone & have a good camera thats where the N series phones come in.
For normal usage, a 40 series phone will suffice.

  • N97 mini - blank/unresponsive home screen & nokia ...

I have been having problems with my Nokia N97 mini.  It froze yesterday, and I removed and re-installed the battery to restart the phone.  When the phone came back on, the email widget had changed from Nokia email to the messaging email option (the one that you get under the messaging icon - it doesn't download in real time and rarely downloads the full message).
It froze again and I had to re-start it again, and this time, the home screen went completely blank.  It either shows the little boxes for the various widgets (they're empty), or the screen is completely blank.  Occasionally the screensaver (slideshow of images) comes on.  The home screen is completely unresponsive, and the only way I can get the phone to function is by pressing the menu button and navigating from there.
I have tried to re-load my nokia email so as to fix the email problem, but whenever I go to the "Email setup" or "Sett. Wizard/Email" options (under applications) the phone freezes.
I should point out that my phone downloaded Nokia Messaging 10.2 today, and the update history section says that the update was successful, but I'm still having serious difficulties.
I have tried restoring factory settings, but that didn't help.  I'm seriously considering trying a  hard reset of my phone but am unable to back up my information using Nokia Ovi Suite.
Does anyone have any suggestions re how I can start enjoying my beautiful phone again?

I would recommend trying the hard reset. If you can't backup using Ovi Suite you could trying either synching your phone with Ovi Suite or MS outlook or backing up to a memory card. Better still do all the above to be sure.

  • Backup error with 6300, verify a .nbu file.

    Hi,
I had a backup error when backing up my 6300 over USB using Nokia PC Suite (v. 6.84.10.3). Is there any way to examine a .nbu backup file to verify what has been backuped? I am worried the conatacts on my SIM did not be backed up properly. Otherwise how do I resolve or determine what the error was and what specifically did not get backed up?
    Many thanks.
PS. Using Win 2000 (fully up to date with all SPs, etc).
..Message Edited by mattstan on 01-Aug-200710:21 PM

when the backup finished, there's a log file describes the categories saved to pc.
pc suite doesn't save those contacts on sim card. you can copy them to smart phonebook in flash then re-backup.
to inspect the content of the .nbu, you can try noki (this thread: /discussions/board/message?board.id=pcsuite&message.id=13911).

  • N82 turns off with Nokia Maps

My N82 turns off several times when I start applications like Nokia Maps. How can I resolve this?

    Hi hugo_q
Apart from need to backup essential data first, I would have suggested reset to "factory settings" by keying in *#7370# followed by 12345 (default Nokia lockcode unless altered by yourself) and then install latest OVI Maps version from here: http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/maps-support/compatibility-and-download#/nokia-n82/
As these older S60 3rd FP1 devices are shorter on phone memory it is usually best to install just after carrying out reset. You did say in first post that applications like Nokia Maps caused issues so perhaps it needs a clear out. Also assuming here that you have v35.0.002 firmware installed.

  • HELP-- N97 stuck at white screen with nokia logo

Kindly help anyone. I installed lifetime free ovi maps on to N97 via computer and it worked initially. Then all of a sudden everything went black and phone restarted itself and since then it is stuck on the white screen with nokia logo.I have taken out battery umpteen times and everytime it is stuck. Won't go beyond this point. kindly help

@tcwlam-if yougo to the website, you can download the app as a .sisx file, and you can just load the file onto your phone and install it there.
@silvervectra- I'm guessing you downloaded it and just installed despite the compatibility warning? The problem why this is still not available to the n97 is likely  due to software incompatibility, which is why it will be delayed to come with the new firmware. If so you just bricked your phone due to you not wanting to wait, congratulations (insert really sarcastic tone)! Anyway, just do the hard reset. Hopefully it would fix it and uninstall the ovi maps. Otherwise you would likely have to have the guys at the Nokia Care Center reflash your phone and roll back ovi maps.

Because Iv'e heard that tthe GPS navigation in other nokia models is free.

    @seanwycherley
Really doesn't sound good, you could go to Menu > Tools > Settings > Phone > Network > Network mode - see if changing from dual mode to UMTS or GSM makes any difference; could also try brand new SIM card in case contacts in device SIM holder getting a bit worn but probably clutching at straws!

  • Mini CD that came with Nokia x6 and macbook pro

The mini cd that came with my Nokia X6 to install OVI on my macbook will not fit into the cd slot because it does not have the tray-loading player. what do i do?

    Ovi Suite
    http://europe.nokia.com/support/download-software/nokia-ovi-suite
    OVI Music Player
    http://oms.ovi.com/in/en/
Anyways over a period of time you need to download these from the site only so that you remain with the latest versions..and the Mini CD becomes redundant...

    Hi, thanks for your post.
Nokia Music store, which allows you to buy and download separate tracks, is not available in India. You can use a Nokia Music Unlimited subscription to download music. Please see this post for more information and contact Nokia Care by voice, mail or chat (where available) to verify your Nokia Music Unlimited status/subscription. • Navigation with Nokia Maps crash (N95 8Gb)

    Hi All.
Does anyone have this problem, when the Nokia Maps start Navigation and is calculation route, Crash !
    Thanks,

Here's my brand new, maps crashing issue; For some bizzare reason, I thought I'd try to use a-gps. I've always had pretty good luck with the thing syncing but it could be better.
I recently came to Germany and got a MOBI (vodafone) sim card and I set vodafone live as my provider. It didn't seem to be any faster so I went into setting, (in maps) and tried to turn it off.
The problem is; I can't. When I go into Maps settings and click on Network, it shuts off Maps or reboots the phone. Now, whenever I turn on maps, it logs onto vodafone and burns off all of my credit in about 5 minutes...and I can't turn it off and I can't use maps without using all of my expensive credit.
It's really **bleep** me off. This is the first software issue I've had with this thing and I have no idea how to solve it. I've gone into Tools>General>Positioning methods and only have Integrated gps checked but it's still logging on.
It's a real pain. If I could remember my lock code, I'd reset everything to default.
    Any idea...?
    Thanks

  • Backup error with 8320

Just restore info from an 8310 to a used 8320.  Everything went fine.  Trying to update Blackberry software through the desktop program but says there is a backup error and to check that device is connected, which it is.  Then I just tried to backup info without updating the software and I get the same error.  I really need to be able to back up my phone.  I do not use the internet on it at all at this point.
    Help asap
    Thanks

    Reboot the PC.
Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot.
Now, connect again to USB cable to the PC and run the BlackBerry Desktop Software > Backup.
You might also try using the USB cable to connected to another main rear USB port on the PC, not a front USB and not a USB hub.
