N97 Mini, whats using up allmost 70% of my phones ...

Using Deviceinfo I find that 69% of my phones RAM, 84.86mb is being use... which seems awfully heavy to me .... my Home screen Widgets are 2 sets of app short cuts, calender, contacts and music player. No other apps apart from Deviceinfo are running.
i'm taking it that this is the norm, if so i'm surprised S60 5th edition V2.0 firmware is so bloated.
Ohh and while i'm here, why does the base messaging app say it can't access mass storage and default to phone memory, after disconnecting the USB cable after using the phone in "mass storage mode", there for meaning I have to reset it to mass memory.
Ohh and another thing ... why not make the End Call button exit apps ... it's abit of a chore to go into each apps options menu then scroll down to exit.

WELLCOME TO DA CLUB!!! we all have the same problem as the previous post indicated "get used to it." There is more or less nothing we can do but we can tweak it a lil
1. Sometimes after heavy use even after you close all the apps the ram use will be very high in that case a restart is good
2. Clear cashe of browser (C. and Mem are shared, fill one up and the other gets filled too)
3. Never keep apps you are sure u dun need or never install an app that is from an untrusted source
4. Don't leave the apps running when u dun need em
5. last of all if ur not a kid like me and can purchase from Ovi store go get yer self Best taskman its a good investment

I just purchased an N97 mini from All Phones and it does not have a cd (for the pc program) or a memory card. Does it come with a cd or a memory card. Those who purchased one please let me know what was in the box. THANKS IN ADVANCE.

You do not need the CD ever, all it contains is an older version of the ovi suite software. Just download it from the link above if you want that software.
The download contains all the required drivers so again the CD is not needed.
Fewer phones are shipping without CD's now and some don't even contain a full manual. It's because companies are trying to be "green" and reduce their carbon footprint.
You can connect the phone to the computer without installing any additional software, just connect it in mass storage mode and it will behave like an external hard drive. You can then transfer files, pictures and music at will.

N97 mini with using phone when battery is being ch...

I read in the guide that: i can use phone when its battery is being charged! I oftent to it. But i still wonder. What do the word "can" suppose? Does it mean that the battery will be OK when i do that?

Yes, it'll be okay. The phone will charge a bit more slowly, but it won't affect the battery. It's not like you're using up charge from the battery as it's being charged up or anything.

In my office, i want to access the wireless internet to check ESPN Soccernet updates. But instead whenever i use ESPN Soccernet, my phone connect to phone operator's internet access.
How can i set my phone to use wireless internet whenever it available rather than my phone provider's internet?
FYI, under settings, Connectivity, Destinations, i had set Priority 1 for wireless and Priority 2 for phone provider's internet.

Hi... I have the same problem here... and tried to follow your steps but when I enter to the Access Point, I doean't open me a selection to chose ftom it... the only access is the one that appears selected (My mobile provider's Internet) and another thing is that in Destinations I have a 13 Uncategorized Acess points and when I try to deleate them, it doesn't let me... can u help me please to fix this as I dont have yet a Mobile Internet registration and OVI store only enters through it and If I want to download any application I have to do it paying to my Mobile provider for every 1Mb I download ...
Hope can some one helps me because almost all applications do this by default , while the Skype and Whatsup applications for example don't, the can connect through my Wi-FI without any problems.

What uses the most data on these phones

My step daughter goes over her monthly data allowance every month, I'm not sure what she is doing that is using so much of the data, does anyone have any ideas

The phone does not use data from your allowance if she is using wifi. Make sure she is logged on correctly.
You may all be on FB and Instagram, but do you use it in the same fashion and as regularly as your daughter? You can both be on FB, but if she uses it for 3-4 hours and you use it for 30 minutes, the usage will not be the same. Do you use FB while riding school bus? Does your daughter? No wifi on school bus I would wager. Does your daughter watch videos posted on FB? If not on wifi at the time, that uses a LOT of data.
Do you post as many photos on Instagram as your daughter? I know I certainly don't. Each of those photos use data to upload unless done so via wifi.
You may ALL be on certain apps, but I doubt you use the app in the same fashion as a teenage daughter UNLESS you have gone over with her how she should be using it to stay within a set data limit.
You asked for ideas on what could be using data. EACH of the apps I mentioned COULD be using data. Doesn't mean they are, it all depends on how the app is being used. Different people use apps differently. Simply because one person does not use data on an app does not mean another could be using a lot of data on the very same app.
Other sources for large amounts of data usage would certainly be iTunes. Does she download music, podcasts, videos, etc... while using cellular data? That would consume a LOT of data.

N97 Mini always conected to internet - how to clos...

I have a n97 mini and for a few days ago the phone starts to be lways conneted to internet. I close everything that was automatic mode and when I go to connection manager to close after a few seconds he starts again the connection...how can I stop this connection? Just now I try to close and appears a message about the "home screen connection" ...what is this?

N97 Mini internet problems

Have had an N95 8 Gb for 2 years now, a mega fine phone. I was a litte bit confused, when I this week got my N97 Mini, I have had much problems with the phone trying to get it to connect to internet. I often get a message with " unlegal servername" when I try to connect to internet both when I connect to an wifi at home, or the gprs.
I had 1 day when it almost was ok, but that then it suddenly fell out again...
It can connect, and open a site sometimes, but it hung up afterwords, and nothing happends. Then I have to exit from internet, and then try again. But it is not stabile at all...
Anybody who have a tips to help me ?
After all these years with SE, i suddenly got a N95 8Gb. And now I begin to like it!!

Does anybody know, when it is a newer software for N97 Mini ? I have discover some problems with the phone, and some functions I really misses from my old N95 8 Gb..
When you receive a MMS, you can not choose to answer the MMS with an SMS, you must quit, then make an SMS to the person you received the MMS from, that`s a good step bacwords..
There ar altso a lot of functions in the camera part, thats gone, you can`t adjust a picture to 5x7" anymore, only manuel cutting of the pictures or set as background.
I really misses my N95 8 GB, it had it all and it was able to use on the Internet to..

Now i have the E72, but i've been trying to talk my wife into having the N97 mini, but she says why don't I have the N87 and she can have my E72, well for me, it's literally a coin toss, they both have features i Like, both have the mandatory 5mp camera, both have wifi, compass, gps all the high end features... but the N97 mini offers a nice big keyboard where as the E72 does not but the E72 offers extra frequencies which work with high speed on other networks.
So for me it comes down to build quality and i can't fault the E72, in all honesty if I had of just bought an N97 mini (instead ot the E72 just 1 week ago) i'd probably wish to keep the N97 mini...
So i have an E72 1 week old,, and my wife's contract ends in only a couple of months, so now were looking at an upgrade for her... have no idea which i prefer, anyone got both or played with both the E72 and the N97 mini, what's your advice?... i can't really fault the E72, im scared the N97 mini will break in 10 minutes....

I could not agree with you more about how similar the E71 is to the E72, for example I can charge the phone, go bed, leaving the "breathe" light on if you've seen that, it lights up every 10 seconds or so then slowly fades out ... but anyway come 8 hours later, I thought let's just plug it into charge see how much power's actually lost, plugged it in, beep, finished charging please remove.... i mean wow, amazing..... so i got curious made a phone call browsed a few sites sent an sms then plugged it in, again it was still fully charged...
Wonderful phone, not to mention Drive C is 250meg nand memory, i've got 200+ meg left with about 30 apps installed, i'd not even get close to that on the N95 or 6710, it's yet to crash, it froze once but that was my own fault for not knowing what i was doing with the scummvm emulator btw - curse of monkey island runs perfectly but the optical keypad has to be held down while you click up/down/left/right (basically all around your thumb while keeping it pressed) but lol anyway...
It's a great phone, but then i think about the touch screen, bigger screen for playing videos on then i remember apps like coreplayer wont run properly on it, but then i think ah but the nice big keyboard for internet browsing then i think but ah battery life....
Maybe I'll wait for the N900 lol, but then there wont be Video Calling support, no compass, no ability (as of yet) to assign pics or is it videos to callers in contacts... but the N900 does have the ability to play divx...
BLAHHHH... Nokia do us all a favor add native support for DivX over UPNP/DLNA the N97 Mini would be as near perfect ... but then i think to myself, web browsing, the N97 only has a 420mhz cpu and Adobe requires 500mhz for their new flash applications hopefully due this year.... that rules out the N97, back to the E72, yes it will run it but it will be a let down on the small screen LOL...
Then i start thinking about the N95 with it's omap and dedicated 3D GPU, and how that can play quake 3 and yet 5 years later their flagship N97 does not even come close, now we have other manufactures with either 1ghz snapdragon cpu's or CPU's with GPU's ....
So the perfect phone from Nokia would be.

Put a lot of effort into making sure that everything can be turned off widget wise remove any fluff that's not needed on startup let the user install the apps don't assume keep the power
consumption as low as possible, go speak to the guys who do the E series they have this
done perfectly.... don't get it to automatically get email just make sure all energy hungry apps are off as default, this way people don't need to spend 2 hours changing settings instead they can spend just 1 hour enabling what they want.
And 1 more thing, filesharing, it would be nice to be able to map a drive over the network rather
than having to create a webserver to do the job.
And if you did all that, you'd have the ultimate flagship device.... the N900 is about 80% away from perfect in terms of what it should be able to do, if not for lacking the compass and a couple of other things it would be damn near perfect.

N97 Mini: Stopping mp3 ringtones from being in the...

The Music Library on the N97 Mini automatically finds all music tracks on the phone, but does anyone know if I can stop it from adding mp3 ringtones?
The ringtones are saved in the 'Ringing Tones' folder, separate from any music tracks, but the Music Library still finds them, meaning if I 'play all' from the library, it plays ringtones too.
A solution would be very much appreciated!

Nokia N97 Mini Outlook meeting problems

Hello,
On my old HTC windowsphone when i got invite to a meeting in outlook i could see on my phone what ppl are also invited / are joining the meeting. For some reason i cant find this on my new N97 Mini. Is this not supported by this phone or is there a way to enable it?

AFAIK the calendar on the mini is exactly the same as on other Symbian devices, so that means there is no field for invited people in it. I am not aware of any alternative calendar apps that have what you need.
The inherent difference from your old phone is that WIndowsMobile phones have Mobile Office which includes a Mobile version of Outlook, which contains a lot of the exact same functionalities as the PC version of Outlook. Only WindowsMobile phones have this kind of exact emulation of PC applications. Sad to say though that Windows Mobile Office is yet to be released for Nokia phones. There has been an agreement between Nokia and Microsoft more than a year ago but it still hasnt come into fruitition.
If the feature is extremely important to you, you might want to consider swapping your phone (if your retailer would allow it) to a Samsung B7610 or a Sony Xperia 2 as both runs Windows Mobile and would have Outlook Mobile as well.
Otherwise, I have no knowledge of any possibility of activating the feature in question.

N97 mini video in Flash

Hi, I have a problem with my nokia.. n97 mini should play Flash video... my phone play video on website such as youtube, but in other its doesn't work, I can't see picture..., only icon ,,F". Can I do something to repair this or I must send phone to service?

The only Nokia phone that I know of that has full flash support (rather than flash lite) is the N900 but according to the specification sheet it's only at version 9.4 (the latest being Flash 11). However, there is a version 10.1 available for download for the N900.
All other Nokia phones will only have flash lite 4 or no flash player at all for the low end models.

N97 MINI - Issues connecting with Bury CC9060 Cark...

I have an issue connecting my N97 mini with Bury CC9060 car kit. I am able to pair the device with the Car kit, but after a minute there will be a message pop-up in the car kit display says, "disconnected" (The connection with the Car kit & my Nokia N97 mini is lost). Still on my Nokia N97-mini display I can see the car symbol (as if like it is connected with the Car kit).
But now if I am receiving or making a call, I am not able to hear the audio (both I/c and o/g) either from the device or from the car kit. The only way is to switch off and on my N97 mini (reboot) to get the audio via my phone.Here I would like to know if there any thing can be done from to solve this issue (Is there any compatibility issues with Nokia N97 and Bury CC9060?)
Note: Bury 9060 is updated with the latest SW and my device also is having the latest SW (10.0.020)

I am having similar problems with my E72 phone. It disonnects and reconnects from the Bury every minute or so and causes the Bury to reboot sometimes. If I am in a call I get a loud squeal and then it drops. When I first had the E72 it worked ok for the first few weeks and then started having the issues. Then the phone was replaced due to an upgrade problem and the new phone was ok for a couple of weeks but has now started doing it again. I have tested the Bury with other phones and all is ok. Just about to upgrade the Bury and see if that makes a difference. Its very distracting when you are driving so i have to deselect the phone.

Cannot use WiFi on N97 Mini

I was able to use the WiFi on my new N97 mini and now suddenly it stopped working
It is still working fine on my N95
N97 Mini gives error saying "Invalid server name"

ive had mine for 9 months.. t his morning i dropped it on the floor when i woke up and just b4 work i went to check symbian-freak and ovidaily as ususal .. then my wifi wouldnt work .. i thought no need to panic and went to work where i get wireless from my provider..
well i got home tonight and almost had a heart attack as it still wasnt working, same as you..
i tried uninstalling a few apps that i receltly installed .. nah ..
it was my router, i had to hold a pin in it to reset it ... im about to go for a walk to confirm this by stealing a few signals and making sure the phone is 100%

N97 mini charging from flat using PC USB

Had quite an interesting experience:
My N97 mini was completely flat (battery).
When I try to charge it using my PC's USB port, the PC will try and identify it as a flash drive, but it will then bomb out - this is an endless cycle (the sound Windows makes when adding USB Flash drive and then removing it).
Using different USB ports has the same result. I am not sure whether charging occurs, but after 10min or so I am still unable to switch the phone on.
So I went to the device manager and I can see it reloading each time the N97 tries to register as a USB device. Then I went and looked at which port the N97 is connected to (open each USB root hub and look at the Power tab - ie refresh each time the new device found sound is played from Windows - the USB hub that will be connected to the phone will be indicated by "nokia usb flashing parent"). By disabling the applicable hub, the phone actually showed the Nokia logo on a white screen with the battery life indicator (non charging).
When I then re-enabled the USB Root Hub, the display remained on the phone and it started charging.
Without disabling the hub the phone would just continue to endlessly find and then discard the "flash drive".
I was using Windows XP SP3.
Nokia OVIsuite 2.2.0.241
I did manually terminate any Nokia processes prior to disabling the USB Root Hub (not sure how many tried to rerun again).
Finally it is charging again. Wasn't too keen on what happened, because I don't carry the charger with me when travelling abroad.
Hope someone finds this usefull.

Hi all.
Went to bed with 5 bars of battery, woke up with a dead phone. Now I'm at work trying to charge via USB, but the screen won't light up. It'll buzz when I press the on button but nothing else happens. The little light beside the N97 Mini's USB port is on OK. My PC doesn't recognise the phone as a drive or anything.
Is it charging at all? Is my phone just dead and this isn't a battery problem?:-(

OK. Understood. The reason why I ask is that my phone is PC 0591929 and was a Swiss (QWERTZ) keyboard (it is refered on the list as Country Variant Switzerland CH), and the latest firmware available for it is 10.0.20.
For the PC 0585087, the latest firmware is 11.0.45, which is what I would like to upgrade to... but that phone isn't listed as Switzerland CH, rather it is listed as EMEA_SWISS_QW, which might imply QUERTY keyboard rather than QUERTZ.
Since on the N97 Mini, the keyboard is hardware layout, I don't want to upgrade to a firmware which would change the layout of the keyboard compared to what is physically my phone's layout...
