N97 mini with new FW 12.0.110

I was able to install the new FW yesterday, and for sure did check immediatly, if some of my issues were fixed.
While the update-process went smooth, i am very disappointed that not one of the issues which bother me was fixed.
The Software Updater did tell something about New Navigation and a fix for ring-tones. The newest Map-App is indeed included in the FW.
My biggest issues
- limit in calender, phone must be resetted if you load to much data into calendar (only way out is *#7370#)
- Photobrowser can not rebuild library
- UBS-connection unstable, phone sometimes not recognized or looses connection while working

I did have the same issue until 2 days ago. Nokia-product page did mention new version, but updater did say my phone is up to date. Then this changed and suddenly it was available.
I have the impression, they want to distribute the new firmware in small portions in order not to overload their systems.
But i would have a complete different question here:
I did contact Nokia-Care via email and did tell them, that i have issues since a long time (like the calendar-limit), and that i did contact them, and that they did tell me some months ago to wait for new firmware.
Now the new firmware is out and the issue still in. So my question yesterday was, what would be the next steps now.
Guess what the answer was: They recommend to update the firmware.
So does anybody in this board know, to whom i could send this perfect example of conversation with Nokia Care, in order to
- improve the chance to get support and help on my that topic
- let them know about the quality of answers and suggestions coming from their team

    Hi,
You will most likely need to have the Airplay compatible device turned on, if it is swipe up from the bottom of your iPad home screen and the Airplay option should be there.

  • N97 Mini with Ovi Suite 2 unable to transfer anyth...

Hi. My wife has just got the new N97 Mini. It has the latest firmware and the Ovi suite is the latest version. The problem is I installed Ovi Suite and it asked me to connect mt device, so I plugged in the supplied USB cable, My windows vista said new device and started updating drivers,  it then said there was a problem and then the sevice layer in windows said  there a a incompatibility with the device driver, in windows device manager there were 2 entries for the n97 mini, one of them had a yellow excalamation mark next to it. Ovi suite said it had detected the phone but I can not move anything onto the phone, I then uninstalled Ovi suite and tried to connect via bluetooth, the connection seems to be fine as windows device manager only has 1 entry, and Ovi suite detected the phone, how ever I stiil cannot move any files onto the phone, the only way to move files to the phone is to select mass storage and then I can drag and drop using windows. Any help would be great. Thanks.

    Hi pearsonquinn,
    Could you check following:
    - System information (Help - About Nokia Ovi Suite - System information - Copy text to clipboard)
    - N97 mini SW version
    - PC model
    - Can you see the phone icon in Nokia Ovi Suite main page?
    - Are messages and photos visible in Ovi Suite?
    - Can you transfer files to portable device visible in My computer?
    - Could you attach screenshots of following situations you are describing:
" ...the sevice layer in windows said there a a incompatibility with the device driver..."
    and
" ...windows device manager there were 2 entries for the n97 mini, one of them had a yellow excalamation mark next to it. Ovi suite said it had detected the phone but I can not move anything onto the phone, .."

  • I have replaced my old Mac Mini with new one.  What should I do about my Time Capsule?

With the old Mac Mini (2009 model) I used Time Machine and a Time Capsule to back up everything on the Mac Mini itself and on external hard drive I added when I needed more storage space.  I've replaced the old Mac Mini with a 2011 model, and migrated the contents of the old one to the new one from Time Machine.
I'm now trying to figure out what I should do to my Time Capsule and/or Time Machine to make backups going forward of the same content, now on my new Mac Mini and same external hard drive.
When I go into Time Machine, it does not seem to recognise the items on the external hard drive as ones that I can backup (or not, as there were some items there that I did not and do not wish to backup to Time Capsule) through the new Mac Mini.
I am uncertain too whether the Time Machine/Time Capsule will recognise the items of my old Mac Mini as the same ones that are now on my new Mac Mini and save changes there, or whether it will try to save all over again all the same items, as they are now on a different computer.
My inclination is to clear out the contents of the Time Capsule now and start all over again.
I have looked through information provided by Apple but not found answers to my questions.

The situation concerning the hard drive is complicated.  It is not included in the list of Excluded Items.
If the drive is not "Excluded", then it must be included.  That is the way that Apple's software works.
But, nor am I given the option to select it or any of the items in it for adding to the list of Excluded Items.
If you want to add an item to the list of Excluded items, click the + button at the bottom of the Excluded list, then navigate to select the drive to add it. Once the drive has been added, you can go back in and select the items.
When I go into the exclude from backup area and select the hard drive, it and the items in it appear in dimmed form, but I cannot select them.
Sorry, I do not understand what you are trying to say here.
What I want to do, but cannot, is what I did before, select one of the items in it not to be backed up and leave the rest to be backed up
I have no idea how you were able to do this. As long as I can remember, Time Machine will not allow you to pick and choose items on a drive to be backed up or excluded. Your option is to have the entire drive backed up, or the entire drive to not be backed up.
have not seen the 'Quick Erase' option.
You would use AirPort Utility to erase the Time Capsule drive. Open AirPort Utillty and click the Disks tab at the top of the screen. Then, click Erase Disk.  The Quick Erase option will appear.

  • ITunes deleted from old computer - need to sync mini with new one

My old Windows computer is where is used to sync my iPod Mini with all my saved music but itunes was deleted there. Now I want to sync with a different Windows computer with iTunes on it that has some songs that are not on my ipod. Is there a way to do this without losing all the content on my mini and not using the old computer, since nothing is there anymore? I want to be able to also "clean up" my mini by putting some music from it on the new computer and deleting some things that I don't want on it anymore.
    All help is greatly appreciated!

If your iPod is set to sync automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library when you connect and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in the Summary tab:
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
    Syncing Music to iPod
Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod
You can also use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes - Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows

  • N97 mini WLAN-Issues after 12.0.110-Update

Never had issues with WLAN-connection on old fw. Did switch off-on already both, the WLAN-Router and the N97mini. Do not want to make a reset because then i have to re-install everything again......
I can usually connect once, for a short time, for one action. (Like synch Favourites with OVI-Maps). After that no chance any more for several minutes.
When i go to connectivity-wlan it says "no wlan available", even after rescan.
I simply have to wait for half an hour, then i can connect again, for one action.
    Anybody having the same issue?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Same problem here.  Just upgraded to the N97 Mini from the E61.
I first noticed it in the pre-installed Podcasting (which I listen to 2+ hours a day).  Downloads seem to hang after about 10-15 meg of the download is complete.  I then noticed it in Ovi when trying to download a video and it would hang during the download as well.
In Podcasting, I have to keep the connection manager open so I can disconnect the connection, then reconnect again in Podcasting.  It is very frustrating as an hour long podcast takes three cycles to complete!  Please help us Nokia!
In Ovi - you just can not download large files.
BTW - I have a D-Link Router in case there seems to be some type of compatibility issue?  No way to test on another WLAN connection at this point.
This is the only major issue that I have identified so far since owning the phone (unless one counts that the phone is absent an automatic polisher/fingerprint remover).
Patient for now - waited to buy this phone instead of getting an eye-moan.  Please fix the WLAN issue.

  • Will N97 mini get new firmware updates in 2012?

Hi I am nokia fans. Still I am so hope that new update firmware will be release for n97 mini owners. Since 5800 and 5230 get new updates at October 2011. When n97mini will taste new firmware update again?

v30 was released at the end of June 2011. Don't expect another update anytime soon. I went from V12 to V30 and it's a trade-off in features. The new browser is an overall improvement, but the email client no longer gives you the flashing notification option. Free RAM drops 5 MB's on my phone. The Smart Dial and Emoticons are subjective as features. One thing I do like is that the phone stays in portrait view when closing the keyboard.

  • N97 sync with new OVI suite

I had my N97 mini and my laptop syncing fine. I have installed the latest OVI suite and now I cannot get the phone into PC suite mode. The OVI suite seems to think it is connected OK but when I click the icon I get a message to change the phone to PC suite mode. The laptop does not see any of the phonrs drives. If I switch the phone to mass storage mode, the laptop sees the drives on the phone.
I have tried re-installing the OVI suite but the result is the same.
It seems to be the phone rather than the OVI suite as the computer does not see the pnone in PC suite mode.
    Any ideas?

    Hi pbhadley
I am not sure whether this will solve your problrm but you could try this once.
    1. Disconnect your phone from PC if connected.
2 .Open Control Panel and go to ‘Programs and Features’
    3. From the list of available programs, choose ‘Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver’
    4. Click on the ‘Change’ button on top toolbar.
    5. In the setup dialog box that pops up next, choose ‘Repair’ and select ok. Wait for setup to complete.
    6. Restart the computer if prompted.
    7. Now connect your phone to the PC. Driver installation should complete and Ovi suite (hopefully) should detect your mobile properly now.
Please THANK me by clicking on the ****WHITE STAR** ( Giving KUDOS) the big GREEN BOX to your LEFT .
It will help me to serve you better !!!!!
    Thanking You

  • N97 mini after new fw clock gone

Hi, i have updated my n97 mini and now the clock is gone from the home screen, does anybody knows any solution for this?

bizarre - there is no way to get of the clock either.
I would say reinstall the FW again and do a hard reset - I see no other option.
I love my purple screen, 1/2 day battery, sketchy touch screen and $800 price tag - I call it my Lumia 900

  • Mini with new universal dock and IR remote

I just got a new universal dock and IR remote for use with a Mini. It seems like the only controls on the remote that work are Next, Prev, and Play/Pause. Neither of the Volume buttons or the Menu button do anything. Is this normal? Is there any advanced information available for the new IR remote and dock (the manuals aren't very helpful)?

The description would make you think otherwise...
"Control your iPod from afar. Play, pause, control volume and skip forward and back between songs from across the room with the Apple Remote."
It goes on to say that the Menu button is for use with the Mac.
"When you click the Apple Remote's Menu button, your desktop fades and Front Row's sleek interface takes its place to give you control over your music in iTunes, your photos in iPhoto, the videos in your Movies folder and whatever DVDs you want to play."

  • IPad mini with new iOS 7.0.2 needs to be activated

Since the newest update of iOS 7, my iPad mini has all of a sudden needed to be "Reactivated".  When I try to connected via "WiFi" on my home network, I get an error saying that the Activation server is down and was unable to connect.
Then, I tried connecting the iPad mini to iTunes on my computer, but my computer gets an error saying "iPad software is out of date".  Although I access my iPad mini content on my computer, the iPad mini interface stays on the same screen trying to connect via WiFi.
Finally, after a hard reset, I turned on my iPad mini and it has me enter my passcode.  Whenever I enter my passcode now, the iPad mini freezes on the screen and ONLY a hard reset turns off the iPad.
My iPad mini has become useless and is frustrating me.  Reading through forums, I see that I am not the only one with this problem, but no solutions have been posted.  It seems to me that it has to be the new software not responding well with the hardware.

These instructions are for an iPhone, but they should also apply to an iPad.

  • Time Machine Dies on Mac mini with new, Mac-formatted USB HD

I purchased a new Western Digital 'My Book' 500GB USB external hard drive and connected it to a G4 Mac mini running the latest Leopard version. Right out of the box, I erased the external USB drive and reformatted it with Disk Utility to 'Mac OS X Extended (Journaled)'. The partition map is set to 'Apple Partition Map' with 'Read/Write' status...all looks good so far, right?
The moment the USB drive reformats, a Time Machine dialogue box pops open (this is good!) and asks if I want to use this new drive as my backup drive for Time Machine. I say "OK".
About a half hour later, Time Machine begins is first total backup of the Mac mini. After about 4 to 7 GB (it is different each time), Time Machine either quits or hangs up. When it quits, if you go to System Prefs>Time Machine, it shows that Time Machine has no backup drive to talk to. When it hangs up, you just see the spinning beach ball.
I have reformatted the drive a bunch of times, but have never gotten it to work. I read in the Apple help section (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306932) that I may have a Master Boot Record partition type, and will try that next.
Please let me know if you can help, and I will report back how the MBR partition cleanup goes.
    Thanks,
    STEVE

Pondini's site is excellent, but didn't happen to cover this problem (or Mavericks in particular as of yet). But I did call AppleCare support as you suggested, rkaufman87, where I was quickly escalated since I'd already tried the things the first tier support people start with. After some investigation via screen sharing and inspection of my system log (which suggested the stall involved issues with the index) the main change we made was to clear out the Time Machine preference files and Spotlight's cache before rebooting and trying again. This time the backup completed without stalling, and has continued to work ever since. Thanks for encouraging me to call support!

  • New mini with new samsung 2494Hm display *****

Hi folks, I connected my new mini to my samsung 2494HM monitor via HDMI and the picture *****, I have tried all the various adjustments and I can't make it good.
    Any advice?
    Thanks,

I just changed to the HDMI > DVI converter which comes with the mac, it seems better but I still have white 'ghosting' around the black letters on the grey mac page headers.
I used the monitor calibration process in system preferences but it's no better.

  • Macbook pro hard drive transfer to new i7 Mac Mini with new SSD

I've seen some of the threads on drive transfer but wanted to get more input.  I currently have late 2008 Macbook Pro with 750gb hard drive running Lion latest version.  I bought a new Mac Mini i7 with dual 500 gb drives.  I also have new SSD 512gb.  I want to use SSD as boot drive for Mac Mini and install 750gb drive as 2nd drive.  I know how to remove and install the drives.  What is best sequence, software and procedure to execute the exchange?  Any help would be greatly appreciated in advance.

  • Replacing Ipod mini with New nano,

    Hi
I have purchased my wife to be a new Ipod nano (8gb), she currently uses an Ipod mini (6GB). We use the same PC & to keep both her mini and my 30Gb Ipod video. So she has to manually manage the tunes on her mini.
Now she has this new nano, she wants put the same songs on her shiney blue nano, but this as taken hers hours to shift through all 6000 tracks that we have collected in itunes.
So the question is, is there a simple way to copy the same tracks on the old mini to the new nano?

*is there a simple way to copy the same tracks on the old mini to the new nano?*
You can't copy from one iPod to another and since the old one is being managed manually then you've no original single source to sync from so I'm afraid there is no simple answer.
Something you might want to consider for managing smaller iPods with a large shared library is the option "Sync Music - selected Playlists". Syncing selected playlists is just like syncing your whole library only on a smaller scale and more "selectively". This is particularly useful when your library is larger than the capacity of your iPod. When your iPod is is set to sync selected playlists it automatically picks up any changes you made to that playlist in iTunes since you last connected. Anything you added to the playlist will be added to the iPod, anything you deleted from it will be deleted from the iPod. In other words the iTunes playlist and the iPod are kept "in sync". In future if you were to add another iPod it could sync to the same source playlist.
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update the iPod from, call it -My iPod Nano for example (the dash will position it at the top of the playlists in Sources). You can make it a smart playlist that picks the songs for you or just a normal one and drag whatever content you want to have into the playlist. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod: Syncing Music to iPod
