heloo i bought this phone while i was on holiday in malaysia as my samsung galaxy note was stolen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and oh my god.. it wont update to 30.0.004... rite now it just says rm 555 10.0.020... it sux!! very buggy.. kinda need a new update fast...the software version date is 14-10-09... 2 years ago?? r u kidding me???? I suggest backing up your data via Nokia Suite, then perform soft reset by pressing *#7780# followed by your security code. Then retry your software update by following the instructions below.
If you use a PC, Nokia Suite can check your phone’s current software version and download new versions when they become available, using your PC’s internet connection.
Nokia Suite also helps you to back up your contacts and photos, synchronise your calendar and update other applications such as Maps.
To update your phone’s software using Nokia Suite on your PC:
On your PC, open Nokia Suite and connect your phone
In Nokia Suite, select Tools > Software updates.
From the list of available updates, choose what you’d like to install.
It’s free to download and use Nokia Suite. It runs on Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP.
Note: If you’re a Mac user, you need to update your software from your device as Nokia Suite is not available for Mac OS.

Exact same problem with my 2010 MBP 2.4ghz 4gb ram 10.6.8. iTunes said update was needed, Software Update ran with various updates including a security update, truthfully didn't pay much attention, I always install the Apple updates. After the restart it took 3-4 times longer than normal to get to the login screen, same to get to the desktop but I'm familiar with that occurring on update restarts. Unfortunately it got worse from there. Performed a full shutdown and startup. Same long boot. After the desktop finally loads every mouse button press received a 2 minute beachball. I use menu-meters and both processors are under 10%. Waited a few minutes for disk utilities to launch, repair permissions estimates 3 hours for a typical <10 minute process. Activity monitor shows nothing over 10% CPU most of the time however ReportCrash pops to the top often. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. BTW zero problems until this update.

I would "guess", since you were in the middle of backing up, your backup is corrupt & most likely unusable. Only one way to find out though, & that's by trying to restore from that backup. If your pics are not there, they are gone.

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 7.0.4. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.
You can no longer update to iOS 6.x, or down grade the iOS.

Once iTunes is launched, it should automatically detect that a new version of the operating system exists and prompt you to upgrade to it. Choose Cancel. Before updating, you will want to manually sync your iPad to make sure everything is up to date.
After canceling the dialog box, iTunes should automatically sync with your iPad.
If iTunes doesn't automatically sync, you can manually do it by selecting your iPad within iTunes, clicking on the File menu and choosing Sync iPad from the list.
After your iPad has been synced to iTunes, select your iPad within iTunes. You can find it on the left side menu under Devices.
From the iPad screen, click on the Update button.
After verifying that you want to update your iPad, the process will begin. It takes a few minutes to update the operating system during which time your iPad may reboot a few times.
After updating, you may be asked a few questions when your device finally boots back up. This is to account for new settings and features.

Have you tried a reset? Hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go.

Since I updated to latest software on ipad cannot sync. with computer. Makes it to step 7 however says 'waiting for changes to be applied' and never completes sync.

Hello Marcia,
Sorry you are having trouble syncing content with your iPhone 5. I found an article that might help with this syncing issue:

Also, you can delete the songs from the iPhone without syncing by just swiping from left to right over the song to get a delete button.

You have to understand the difference between an Update and an Upgrade.
An Update is a free change to add to the base code or as a bug fix within an existing Operating System. Such as the .11 added to 10.4.
An Upgrade is a complete new Operating System that must be purchased. Such as 10.5 Leopard to 10.6 Snow Leopard.
10.5 Leopard was written for Power PC Macs with code added to allow it to run on Intel MacBooks processors.
10.6 Snow Leopard has completely rewritten code and only runs on Intel Macs.
10.7 Lion used some 32 bit which allows it to run on Late 2006 through Early 2008 MacBooks and a lot of 64 bit code.
10.8 Mountain Lion is pure 64 bit, which excludes more systems than Lion did. It can only run on the Late 2008 through Mid 2010 MacBooks. It's not something you can add memory to, for example, as it involves the base architecture.
The 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD is in the Apple online store. You can get it for $19.99. You will need to be running 10.6.8 to access the App Store to order Lion or Mountain Lion. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard

You can upgrade from 10.4 straight to 10.6 with no problems as long as you have at least 1gb of RAM. Any program that runs under 10.4 should run under10.6. And you will have to install Rosetta if you have any Power PC applications

N97 mini further updates (udates after v12.0.110)?...

Since jul 2010 n97 mini has recieved no updates .... many apps in it are now outdated like
1. music player
2. browser.
3. top apps dont work.
4. no interface improvement... like slow ks
5. etc...etc..
all other phone like my dads 5800 xm has recieved about 3 new updates.... all bringing improvement to the phone.....
please Nokia do something...
and i request a honest reply by a Nokia person on this post pls... also the tentative dates for update...

If you want a reply from Nokia then you have to ask Nokia, not post a question on a forum populated by other users of Nokia products like yourself.
The general consensus among users here is, however, that the N97 and N97 mini are abandoned products. They've not been updated since July and August 2010 respectively.
On the other hand, I did recently see a page on a Nokia site saying that some piece or other of software that they were pushing did require PR2.x (V2x) on the N97 mini and PR3.x (V3x) on the N97 to work correctly. Would Nokia be releasing software that will never run on phones because the required firmware will never be released? It would be a bit stupid, although I wouldn't put it past them.

Its been ages of waiting for a new update for the N97 and N97 mini, one which would do at least the following:
(1) better UI
(2) new and better browser with the latest flash support
(3) freer space on the RAM
(4) a social app for IM like facebook, twitter, myspace e.t.c
(5) smileys in our Instant messaging (fed up with words like smileysad)
(6) a UI that wouldnt use up batteries so fast

OK friends, last Sunday once again I went to the customer care and told them about my homescreen problems they didn't care me. They Switch off and on again my phone gave it to me and said ur problem is solved.
They doesn't try to understand me.
Suddenly I got angry and fought with them. On the spot I pictured them and forward my complaint to the nokia' with in two days nokia officials contact me ask me about the problem and help me to solve that problem.
After that I'm not saw that problem again in my phone.
so if you have any serious problem pls forward your mails directly to the nokia.

N97 mini, no update available?

I've got a norwegian N97 Mini, and I still have not got the newest update for it, v. 11.0.0.45. When will it come to my phone. whenever i try the nokia software updater, it just says i have the newest
one (10 something).
It's been several days, why haven't i got it yet?

different suppliers have handsets 'branded' to there own specification, and will not allow you to update 'till they approve the update, if you go to your local store they may be able to shortcut the system, otherwise you just need to check NSU regulally untill update is 'allowed' on your phone !

N97 min wont sync

I cant get my N97 mini to sync through OVI suite, it doesnt matter if i try sync all or each one individually. Should i just back up and then reformat my phone?

I would think it's an issue with the computer software , rather than phone ! Check you have the latest version of Ovi suite and maybe try removing all Nokia/Ovi software from computer including drivers and try a clean install. There is a new Ovi suite beta you could try and also you can sync OTA using your Ovi Account, a hard reset is a long job and best left as a last resort !

Ipod nano updated with latest software will not play or charge on ipod dock

My ipod nano generation 4 is updated with the latest software version 1.0.4
It was playing and charging fine on my ipod docking station until the update.
Now however the ipod is unresponsive on the dock. neither charging or playing. I have tried it charging on the cord and playing on my headphones no issues.
any thoughts?
