N97 Music Library problem

Hi all,
Got a strange problem on my n97.
In almost every album, it shows every song twice.
Tried refreshing the library more than once now, but no luck.
If I add a new album, it only shows those tracks once.
So this must have happened some time ago, but I can't seem te get rid of it.
Very annoying
Anyone has a solution? Tried searching the forums, but other than formatting the mass memory (what I'm not willing to do at this point), I couldn't find anything.

What method did you use to put the offending albums on phone? If you used the likes of Ovi/WMP to sync there are situations files can be duplicated, it's possible a previous sync has mucked things up..
Sometimes they can copy over files already there, giving duplicates. And if you edit tracks (eg. change cover art) and resync with likes of WMP you can get both versions, eg. Song and Song(2), on phone. Also depending on source file some syncs can put album track ID3 tag info (eg. cover art) in separate file, resulting in duplicate entries. (Is it 2 exact copies of tracks you have, or one of proper size and one of few kb?)
Can you delete the affected albums with same method they were put on phone with and refresh library to check they're gone, or do same with file manager, then put back using mass storage method and check tracks aren't duplicated? Maybe try one album as a test.
Just some ideas, not had to troubleshoot such issues myself as I just use mass storage method to put files in Sounds/Music folder, and never had this problem. If someone smarter than me (and there are many ) sees this, I'm sure they'll jump in.

Ovi Suite 3.0.0.290 - Music library problems...

Hello,
Just bought a Nokia E5, looks to be a sweet phone so far...
Only, Ovi Suite is just annoying. Very slow on communicating with the phone (USB connection) and some big problems.
Impossible to delete music from the library ! How is that ?? And also the library takes ages to add a new folder.
Also, not seeing the playlist i've made on the phone ? Either on mass storage connection, in the playlist folder of the phone, nothing... But should be on a other threat.
Hope you can solve the library problem because it's quite annoying.

We get that without you plastering this message over EVERY single thread dealing with issues of that truly useless and pathetic piece of software called Ovi-Suite.
Especially since the new version DOES NOT SOLVE ANY OF THE ISSUES AT HAND IN THE THREADS YOU MASS PASTED INTO!
Ovi-Suite 3.x still no longer syncs music, which IMHO is a basic function. Who on earth wants to be forced to manually update the phone playlists and songs whenever songs are added on the PC? That is beyond backwards.
Hello? It's 2011, not 1991.
Ovi Suite 3.x still randomly refuses to add songs to the library on the PC (e.g. it skips several songs from an album folder, yet they play fine when added to the phone manually outside Ovi-Suite), an issue that can only be corrected by deleting the entire library on the PC and recreating it. A "repair library" function is notoriously absent.
I'd like a so called Smartphone to make tasks easier and more comfortable instead of harder.
Newer Nokia handsets may be slightly less bad, but the N97 with Ovi-Suite is still the smartphone/desktop combo from hell.
The fruit phone/ITunes combo is sadly restricted by the greed and desire to control everything of Apple, but at least the products work reliably and consistently for the most part. The same is true for 'Droid devices.

N96 Music Library Problems

Hi Guys n Gals
Have a problem with my music library it won't refresh. the refresh bar will come up but it doesn't update and doesn't finish I have to manually stop it.
I have cleared the majority of my music on the phone all bar the preinstalled stuff and a few downloads from the music store (no more than 15)
I had a look on the board for people with the same problem and I tried the deletion of the 3 "private folder" files then perform a refresh. My problem is that I started the refresh 12 hours ago - AND ITS STILL GOING!!!
I'm thinking of taking a full backup of my phone via pc suite performing a reinstall of the latest firmware restoring the files and hoping for the best!
Anyone got any solutions that do involve sending it for repair I've already had it away before for numerous other things and don't wanna part with if again if I can resolve it myself.

When I said a long time, I meant like 10 minutes!
I was going to suggest that maybe it was too many files in a single folder - used to be something that caused similar problems - however, if you've deleted all the music, that obviously can't be it.
Have you tried a factory reset? There's a menu option under something like Tools .. Settings .. General or there are the *# numbers or the 3 finger salute.

N73 Music Library Problem - App.closed

N97 Music Library

Nokia N97 Music Player, an average application but does serve the basics of a music app. I do however, find some problems with this. Does anyone know an easier way of adding new tracks to an already existing playlist. For example, I added 500 tracks to my N97 and then wanted to seperate in two playlists. Since I cannot choose folders, I had to select every track individually. And now, if I want to add another 20 to 30 tracks, I will have to go through all of the 530 tracks to find the newly added music. Is there any alternative music player or an updated version ?

Actually there is an automated list in the Lists options in the Music Player Menu, that list is "Latest added songs" it will show you song in added order. So you don't need to look in the 530 songs.

N85(HK)-Music Library Problem

I bought an N85 in hong kong last year. after i went back to China, i changed its language to Simplified Chinese, then the music library didn't work. I transfered new songs( i tried both .mp3 & .aac) to the phone, then i click "refresh the library", it kept displaying "searching...0 added", so i couldn't listen to the music through the music library, but i could still open the .mp3 files in the Tools/File Manager ..
i had to change the language back to Traditional Chinese, and now the music library works well.
i reckon there's a bug. my FM:11.047
i want to use the music library in simplified chinese...though i've kinda solved this problem.. thx

I reckon the problem is that simplified Chinese uses a different character set (single byte v double, maybe?) so it wouldn't be able to use the earlier library files.
My guess is you could get around this by renaming the library files after you've switched to simplified Chinese then refreshing the library. See here for list of files to rename.

N95 Music Library Problem

I have a problem in my N95. When I open my music library, there is an artist entry that is empty. The song, which should normally be there, is under an "Untitled" folder. Now, when I try to delete the empty artist entry, it comes up with a message: "General: System Error". Dow you know how can I solve this?

N81 music library problem

I'm having a problem with Music Library on S60 3rd ed.
I have about 500 mp3 files on my 8GB memory card and when I tried to load some more today - I failed: I copied the files (mp3's of course) via a card reader on my PC, plugged the card into the phone, refreshed the library and got a message:
Searching stopped. 0 files added.
I have firmware ver.11.0.45 (or something) but actually I'm surprised it stopped working so suddenly.

Funny thing is that the PC application from the Nokia PC Suite can't see any music files in the folders I had tried to copy to the phone either. Is something wrong with the files themselves? They're regular 192kbps mp3's.
Plus, the Library on the phone is now incapable of removing files from the library, in other words, it can't see any changes in the files and folders structure on the card.

Nokia 5230 nokia music library problem

i am using nokia 5230 ..the problem is whenever i select option REFRESH LIBRARY the devive is unable to load new music files which i have tranferred to memory card using PC suite...music player is unable to load music files which are stored in memory card...
plz help me...i even updated the phone software but unable to solve this problem.......but other files such as videos and images i am able to see in gallery ..only problem is with the music files.....plz help me.....thanx in advance

Think this problem in Nokia 5230 is due to wma files.Just backup n delete the wma files from memory card and try, it should work fine. BTW it was working fine till the last software update.After updating to v20.0.005 only prob came up.In fact there is problem even with files downloaded from Ovi music.

ITunes 7.5 music library problem

My libary is located in the Shared Documents folder on my main PC. During the upgrade to the most recent versopn of iTunes; it appears that my entire library was duplicated (from trackname.suffix to tracknumber trackname.suffix). This includes all iTunes store files (~500-600) plus all of my ripped-from-CD-mp3s (~5000). So, my library doubled in size (yes, in each album folder the files are duped with a "1" appended to the extra file) and in iTunes I have two versions of each song. Besides manually deleting each "extra file"; does anyone have any better solutions to return my library to normal size? Thanks.

Hi I am using 7.0.2.16 and I have exactly the same problem and I can't fix it despite spending hours. I have re-added all my music to the library but it still doesn't appear in the library in iTunes. What seems odd is if I add any new tunes from CD then it works fine, it just won't display any of the old stuff.
I have read the suggestions on this thread but unfortunately I don't have a "previous iTunes library" folder to reinstate my older version of the library.
One other thing is that I seem to be able to add music to playlists but not the library!
All of this is a bit of a pain but the 3 iPods that are used on this machine still have all theirt music in tact so it's not the end of the world but another worry for me is that I don't seem to have any of my purchased music anywhere other than my iPods. :o((
Finally, when any of the iPods are plugged in, you can't the folder structure so you can't delete any songs. This will be a problem for me pretty soon as mine is very nearly full.
I hope that someone can help but I am seriously considering reinstalling an old version of itunes and starting again.

Music library problem

I have a problem. I want albums from the same artist in a chronological order. So I sort "album by year". But now I have 2 albums ( Another side of Bob Dylan & The Times They Are A-Changin' both from 1964) But the problem is: The Times they are a changin was released before Another Side, but because they're both drom 1964 Another Side of Bob Dylan comes first in my iTunes list. That's because of alphabetical reasons, but it should come after The Times They Are A-Changin' because it was later released. How to do?

Which version of iTunes are you using? With v7.3 and later, you can use the Sorting Tab in Get Info for the album to change the sort order. Then have The Times They Are A-Changin' name sorted as Z The Times They Are A-Changin' or something of that sort.
I still use v7.0.2 so sorry if my details above are not correct, but you should be able to use the sort field somehow to fix this. See this article...

WMP music library problems

I have Windows 7 Hone Premium and WMP 12. My library is completely jacked up. I keep getting duplicate files every time I open it, and some files have completely disappeared. What's the deal? Is there an easy way do delete duplicate
files? Any way to retrieve lost files?

5800 Music Library Problem.

I was listening to music and a message came up saying "File corrupted." then it deleted all my music. i refreshed the library and got my music back but it happened again. so i thought id start fresh and delete all the songs from my phone and re add them.
Now the songs are deleted but they still come up in my library when i try to delete them again it says "General - Sytem Error" anyone know how to fix it?

Before going to nokia care i would suggest you to do this first -
You can do this to rebuild the library as it is corrupted.
Restart your device and then refresh your library. If this doesn't help then;
Connect the phone to your pc/lappy and put in 'Data transfer' mode.
To delete the library files:
- Ensure you can see hidden files in Windows Explorer:
Windows Explorer .. Tools .. Folder Options .. View
Select "Show hidden files and folders"
- Connect the phone to your PC using the USB cable in "Data transfer" mode
- Find and rename (or delete if you're really brave) files with names like:
E:\private\101FFC31\mpxv1.mpd
E:\private\101FFC31\pcv5.mpd
E:\private\101ffca9\harvesterdb.dat
(assuming the phone's mass memory / card has been connected as E)
Note that the folder names may be different and the files may have prefixes - eg: mpxv1.mpd could be called abcmpxv1.mpd. Basically, you need to search under the Private folder for any files that look similar.
Now just refresh the Music Player library and the job is done.
This will take longer than normal as it's a complete refresh, but it should now work.

Hi, not sure how but all the songs in my library are in reverse order to the way they were loaded from the original CDs. Is there a reason for this and can the running order be reversed to the correct order

Yes you clicked on one of the columns. If you click it again the order will reverse.

N97 Music Player Fault

I installed all the updates through USB from my laptop and for 2 days afterwards my music player was working fine on the phone, then my music has vanished from my library on the phone, but I can still use any of them as ring tones through the ringtones settings part. However in my llibrary mode it is showing as nearly 5 hours of music at the top of the screen but the middle display says no files, I have connected my phone yesterday to my computer and asked it to add more songs which the computer said was successful, So I then refreshed the library after disconnecting my phone and there is no change to the library, but everything else on my phone works fine.
What do I do?
