N97 music player upload

I have a mac so it is difficult for me to transfer multimedia to my N97. I downloaded the multimedia transfer software but it only transfers songs to the memory. can anybody tell me how to play them in the music player????
Thanks.

I think that you need to scan for new music, by openign the music player, pressing options and choosing "refresh library" it will scan for new music files and add them to your music player.
I've had massive issues uploading music, with songs that have perfect ID tags ending up in an unkown artist folder, and only around 30% of my songs appearing with album art... and why nokia can't impliment gapless playback (no pause inbetween tracks)

  • N97 Music Player Fault

I installed all the updates through USB from my laptop and for 2 days afterwards my music player was working fine on the phone, then my music has vanished from my library on the phone, but I can still use any of them as ring tones through the ringtones settings part. However in my llibrary mode it is showing as nearly 5 hours of music at the top of the screen but the middle display says no files, I have connected my phone yesterday to my computer and asked it to add more songs which the computer said was successful, So I then refreshed the library after disconnecting my phone and there is no change to the library, but everything else on my phone works fine.
    What do I do?

    Try This

  • N97 - Music Player - Some songs seems to speed up ...

I've noticed this strange behaviour on my N97.
When playing back MP3s in the Music Player application, I can noticeably hear the track speed up (or race).  The speed up is subtle, and it sounds like a pitch shift at first.  Then the track seems to return to normal speed after about 20-30 seconds.  Then after about the same amount of time the track races again.  It is not on all tracks, and it usually happens after playing a long album (say more than 4 hrs of play).
Has anyone else experienced this behaviour?
    I'm on v21.2.045.CO1.01 (RM-507)
I have a custom theme installed on the phone: "Lake" Theme.
    Nokia N8

Just listened to a track then that had the playback speed up and slow down like it was having a drag race.  It is such a random bug.
I wonder if it has something to do with the track type, or the bit rate of the track?

  • N97 music player doesn't display my music

    Hi all,
I have a problem since yesterday regarding the music player application on my N97. Namely, it will not display any of my music - it displays "no songs" for whatever section (Artists, Albums, etc.). Of course, I checked the file system and all music is there, safe and sound. It should be noted that the music files are in .mp3 or  .m4a format, placed appropriately (mass storage, folder "Music"). And I hadn't had this sort of problem until yesterday, when I was trying to sync music with my PC using Ovi Player and Ovi Suite. They both recognize my music files and display all albums and songs accordingly.
To make it more interesting, when I choose "Music library details" option in the music library main screen, it displays the correct information (1490 songs, modified 26.11. etc.), but it simply won't list any music saying that I have none!
    What I tried:
    - refreshing the library a number of times - it reports "0 files added" and continues to behave in the same way;
    - importing some new music (via PC) and refreshing the library - the same outcome;
    - switching phone off and on (including removing the battery);
    - resetting the phone to factory settings.
Nothing helped. It's running the newest firmware version (v20).
In my opinion, the problem is not caused by the music files, but the music player application itself. So I don't think that formatting the mass storage would do the trick. Someone correct me if I'm mistaking.
Also, I would very much like not having to reinstall the firmware as it was excruciating in the first place - lost connection with the device, my phone almost died, etc. But if anyone strongly thinks that it is worth trying, then I will. This is extremely annoying.

ok i found the solution here by deleting the corrupted library
    http://portablevideo.blogspot.com/2008/12/music-player-database-problems.html
now one of these below is for the music and one for the photos and i didnt have a problem with the photos but did it anyways and now the player can see my music:
these are the files that need deleting in order to get rid of the corrupted library.
Storage Drives: (Mass storage E, Memory Card F)
    \private\101ffca9\harvesterdbvx_x.dat
    \private\10281e17\[string]mpxvx_x.db
    \private\10281e17\[string]pcvx_x.db
TIP: Connect the device in USB mass storage mode (File Transfer), to locate the private folder from the PC.
TIP: STRING and x_x will change depending on your phone. (my files had slightly different names than above on the n97)

  • N97 Music Player Keeps On Refreshing

I recently updated my N97 V.20 and the phone is way better than before.. I have problem in my music player when i copy files on my internal 32GB memory and refresh the library it keeps on refreshing then i have to remove battery. When i on the phone and check the music library it will not show any music tracks but the details shows that 273 songs have been added..
    * When i hard reset my phone the music files will be displayed on my library
    * When i add new music files and refresh my music library the same error occurs "music library keeps on refreshing"
Can anyone suggest me how can i solve this problem?? Because of this bug i am unable to listen to music on my phone :-(

    I also had the "Problem".
    1. Restart your Phone ( OFF and ON ) after transferring the Files.
    2. Start Music Player
    3. Go to "options"
    4. Got to "refresh library" or "update library" I don't know the exact wording because i've got the German Version.
    5. The amount of imported Files will be displayed. Finished.

  • N97 Music Player

Is there a better / alternative music player available anywhere for the N97? The default player is poor in my opinion - the player I had on my 2 year old Sony W960 was way ahead of this Nokia product.
Simple things like being able to hide artists associated with compilations seems to be missing.

I agree with rapid, poor sound compared to my last SE 'phone. Good high end but the middle is weak and the bass lacks any puch whatsoever. And those earphones? A 'phone that costs so much and a budget of 7 pence for them? Good grief.
Nokia: do yourselves a favour - go and spend a few quid on a cheap Sony 'phone and have a look at how the music should be done on your "market leading entertainment device".
Sony: here's an opportunity for you - port some of your music player software to S60 v5, sell it in the Ovi and you'll have a stream of punters. In fact, since the upcoming Satio / Idou / whatever-it's-called-this-week is S60 v5, and I'm assuming you'll have put more than 10 minutes though into the music player on the thing, let's just have that software. Thanks.
I do like most things about this 'phone and I expect the irritating bugs will get ironed out in due course, but it's a shame it had to be so disappointing out of the box.

  • Help required with N97 music player

Hi. Could someone help me out please.
Got an N97 at the weekend and wanted to transfer some songs onto the music player for my laptop.
Installed the OVI software no problem, everything went fine.
Dragged my chosen songs to the player and got a message confirming the songs had been transferred.
Went into music player in the N97 and it was totally empty.
Message saying all songs had been transferred on the software.
    Any ideas?

OK, problem sounds similar to mine but refresh & waiting not working for me. One day my music was working fine (listening in car, using sat nav, all plugged into stereo, great...), then I download some photos to my PC and the next day, my music player doesn't think it has any songs...
Go into any of the "Albums", "Artists", "All Songs" etc folders and all I get is a message saying (no songs) and yet, at the top of the page, it says "11 days, 23 hours" - which is how much music I did have on there...
I have tried refreshing the library - takes about 30 seconds & tells me no new songs added. Have rebooted phone & taken battery out for a minute yet I still can't play or access any of my tunes.
Does anyone have any ideas? Please?!!!

  • N97 Music Player Lyrics Update

Hi, I recently got an update for Music Player on my Nokia 5800 XM. This update includes Auto Lyrics feature which is something I was looking for. I have another cellphone Nokia N97. I want to ask, why N97 don't have this update? And if Nokia is planning for it when it'll be released?

They will be sorted to Artist/Album/Genre if the files have been tagged properly and if the phone will recognize the tag IDs. I would recommend to use mp3tag over other software for tagging music intended for Nokia phones.
    For the refresh problem:
    1. Connect your phone to you PC in Mass Storage Mode
    2. On your PC you will need to have allowed to “Show” hidden files, do this from Explorer/Tools/ Folder Options/ View and select “Show hidden files and Folder”
    3. Open your SD memory card/Removable Disk in My Computer on PC
    4. Go to E:\ Private there you will see 3 folders 101f8857, 101ffca9 and 10281e17 .
    5. Go to Private\101f8857\Cache\E there you will see .dat files. Delete all the .dat file BUT NOT the E Folder. Shown above right
    6. Now go to Private\101ffca9 there you will see another .dat file, Delete the dat file NOT the folder.
    7. Finally go to Private\10281e17 There you should see 4 files 2 are Mp3 files other are Podcast files. Delete mpxv2_2.db & mpxv2_2.db-journal for Mp3 files list and Delete pcv6_1.db & pcv6_1.db-journal for Podcast files list. Shown above right
    8. Close all windows and disconnect your Phone. Go to Music Library and it should automatically start a refresh.

  • N97 music player take 3 mins to refresh playlist

hello guys, i jus want to know if other people are also experiencing my problems. i'm not going to touch every no97 music player issues. i'll tell you one at a time. well here it goes, when i've about 400 songs in the music player and i decide to delete one in the list, the list(playlist) takes 3 mins to refresh. this is eally annoying.

Hi, all my music is drag and dropped into the Music folder on E, I drag a full album folder into this (normally including a jpg image of album cover) if I want to delete a song, find it quicker to find the track in ' All songs' rather than in 'Album', also tend to edit stuff on computer via usb connection rather than on phone (though use both methods, as well as file manager on handset). I have about 8gig free on E and don't have any issues with media playback (over 60 music vids and full length movies on E in Video folder ) If phone is 'laggy' try a hard reset, but if you can cope leave it as it involves a good bit of time in 're-building' your phone !

  • N97 Music Player - faulty icons

Hi everyone. Thought I would post here with this little problem, as I seem to have exhausted the internet in looking for a solution.
Basically the music player short cut icon on the desktop(?) AND the 'last played' icon in the player do not work. What this leads to is if I start playing a song and move away from that playing page I cannot get back and switch off the music!
I have tried re-installing the firmware but to no avail.
    Anyone help?
    Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Is this a problem that has just occurred or has your music player been like this since you bought the phone ? Ehen you say 'desktop' do you have a shortcut on your home screen, or do you go in the default way, menu-music ? And finally when you 'go away from the playing page' what do you mean ? Do you hide music player, go back to album, all songs, artists etc. if you leave music playing and leave music player, a long press on the silver menu button should show all open apps and you can select music, if you exit music player (close it) then last played should show next time you open music.
If this problem has occurred since purchase, a soft reset would resolve it, if it's been like it all the time it may be lack of familiarity with the operating system, if you can clarify a little, I (or someone else) may be able to help.
    Good Luck

  • N97 Music Library

Nokia N97 Music Player, an average application but does serve the basics of a music app. I do however, find some problems with this. Does anyone know an easier way of adding new tracks to an already existing playlist. For example, I added 500 tracks to my N97 and then wanted to seperate in two playlists. Since I cannot choose folders, I had to select every track individually. And now, if I want to add another 20 to 30 tracks, I will have to go through all of the 530 tracks to find the newly added music. Is there any alternative music player or an updated version ?

Actually there is an automated list in the Lists options in the Music Player Menu, that list is "Latest added songs" it will show you song in added order. So you don't need to look in the 530 songs.

  • X6 Music Player / System Error

    Hello,
I do have a few months old X6, which has worked quite fine so far. Now, surprisingly Music Player gives just "System Error" when trying to use it - i.e. trying to play a song from the lists. I can play the songs direct from the X6 file manager, but not by the Music Player.
I've done all the normal stuff, e.g. installed firmware again, hard reset, etc. without any success. Seems to be that the library index, or related has been corrupted. Library updating does not work neither.
Any ideas? Does anyone now where to find the library index (or related) file to be deleted? And furthermore to re-build the index again?
    Thanks in advance!

    This one also helped here:
    /t5/Music/N97-music-player-doesn-t-display-my-music/td-p/574598
So, the next files from mass storage was needed to delete in order to get rid of the corrupted library:
    \private\101ffca9\harvesterdbvx_x.dat
    \private\10281e17\[string]mpxvx_x.db
    \private\10281e17\[string]pcvx_x.db
STRING and x_x will change depending on the phone. The phone should be connected in mass storage mode.

  • N97 V2 music player has more bugs than a hundred y...

    My problem is back!
This is what I have done in the past hour.
Exported my contacts to vcf onto memory card. Removed the card.
    *#7370# - hard reset
Went through all that... Then remembered I hadn't wiped mass storage.
Wiped mass storage (Which it kept complaining it couldn't do until I removed all the default active apps on the front screen). After removing them it eventually formatted it
    *#7370# - hard reset
    Let it get settled...
Connected to USB, did a firmware update check. 2.00.19, no update available. Disconnected USB.
Removed all the front screen **bleep**, added shortcut 2, put my normal shortcuts onto it.
    Added my wifi destination
Opened the browser, went to google.co.uk via my wifi, added that as bookmark
Put the memory card back in (there are no apps on it, I never got round to using it for anything).
Imported my contacts back from the memory card.
Went into music player, zero tracks shown. Good.
Connected USB, started Nokia Music PC application (latest version, had checked). Right clicked on one album 13 tracks.
Let it send them over to the N97.
Disconnected phone. Started N97's music player. It says music library corrupt, scanning... Says 13 tracks found.
Artists shows one artist, 13 tracks. Albums shows 1 album. All looks good.
Go into the album, pick on a track, starts playing.
Volume control does nothing. Touch volume control does nothing. Headset remote control, volume, forward and reverse do nothing. Touch screen pause/play forward and reverse do work, but there is no way to control volume.
I've screwed up this music player app before the Nokia system has even got round to sending me the Welcome text message (which I have seen too many times!).
Okay, I'm going to write the next bit line by line as I do it... So bear with me... It's step by step. You never know, it might help anyone that gives a damn (Nokia hopefully), fix it!
    *#7780# - soft reset
Front screen now just shows shortcuts1 and 2, but the shortcuts themselves have switched back to Nokia's defaults.
    Music player volume now works!
Connect to USB, send another mp3 album. PC app says (and shows on the %age bar) transferring 5 tracks. Album has 18. Nokia Music system tray icon says complete after 5, but the little arrows shows things are still being transferred. Waited for them to finish. Click the N97 icon and it's showing both albums, with all 18 tracks the second one really does have.
    Disconnect USB
Go into Music library on N97, no auto refresh message. Showing only the original album with 13 tracks.
"Options\refresh library" nothing shows as scanning, just appear straight back at the artist, album, playlist option screen. Albums still shows just the first one.
Option\music library details says 13 tracks
    Playback and volume still work.
Using the file manager, mass storage, music there's my 2nd artist, the album, and all the mp3 files. I can click them and play them. Volume still works.
Select original (found) album, select delete. Everything shows 0, even though 2nd album is there in the mass memory, file mgr shows it. First artist and albums folders are still there, but empty (Nice house keeping Nokia).
Reconnect USB, Nokia Music just shows the "invisible" 2nd album, and will play it.
Pick a 3rd album of 11 tracks... Send that to N97.. No progress bar or anything shown, just wait for the arrows to stop flashing and then confirm N97 is showing two albums (the invisible on and new one) on the PC app.
    Disconnect USB.
Back on the N97... Apps, Music.. Says Music Library 11 songs (that's the 3rd album)... Go into it..
    Albums (no songs)
    All songs (no songs)
Artists: The artist from 3rd album is shown... 11 songs!
Click it... Shows the album name, 11 songs.
Click the album, and click the first track to play it... Long delay of a few seconds...
Starts playing... Volume not working again!
Try refresh library... again, nothing, no progress bar...
    No change, no volume control.
Now here's the really weird bit... If I go and find the mp3 file on the mass storage, and play it from there, volume control works! Come back through the music play app, play the same track, volume won't work.
    *#7780# - soft reset
Welcome message, yeah yeah... Ooooh, very fast confirmation text message...
Apps, Music, Music Library (11 songs), go into that, click Albums.... "Cannot perform whilst USB connected" **bleep**?I disconnected that ages ago when i said I did. After that every attempt to go into Albums dumps me back to the Music app showing "Last player - blank" "Music Library 11" etc etc...
Exit all the way out and try to go back in...Artists does the "USB connected" error. Albums just dumps me out. Playlists says "File corrupt". All songs say "(no songs)". Podcasts and Genres say "USB connected", composers "General system error" and after that I get a couple of other system errors from other options and then it just dumps me back out.
    *#7780# - soft reset
    Ovi welcome... blah blah...
Apps, music, music library (11 songs), go into it, option\refresh... Ooooh, something happens, a progress bar! 18 files added! That's 3rd album...
Albums show both... Artists show both
Pick one for playback... Volume control is back!
Right... Time to try a different tack...
Connect USB, mass storage mode this time (all previous attempts have been PC suite mode).
Create a now folder in music for the artist name (as stored in ID3 tag), create subfolder in that for the Album name (as stored in ID3). Copy mp3 files.
Eject USB device, wait for windows to confirm... It does.
    Disconnect USB cable.
App\music\Music Library (29 songs - Thats the two previous albums). Go into it, previous tracks shown, playback/volume okay.
Refresh library works again... Now 3 albums, volume works.
Back to USB (mass storage mode).
This time deliberately doing the storage structure wrong... \music\albumname\mp3s (normally \music\artist\albumname\mp3s).
Music library still showing the 48 tracks from the first 3 albums... Seems to open a bit slower... Still works though.
    Refresh library... 13 files added...
    4 albums... All working...
Looking with file mgr from badly arranged folder is still as I made it... I guess the Nokia Music PC app creates the tree format, and the N97 doesn't actually need it.
    Okay, proof of pudding test...
    Connect via USB (mass storage).
Delete the album I created with the mangled folder structure.
Copy 20 folders of mp3 albums across using just windows file manager to the mass storage drive's music folder.
Eject USB storage device from windows....
Oh... Up until now I was almost certain I would be able to use N97 as an MP3 player as long as I avoided the Nokia Music PC app...
Apps\Music\music library shows 61 songs, which is what it had...
Go into it, click albums and I'm getting the USB device connected message. It's not, and the icon isn't even showing on the phone, so I can't go into the player to see if volume works.
Refresh isn't displaying anything, or doing anything I can see. Playlists say the file is corrupt...
    *#7780# - Soft reset
Apps\Music\music library (61 songs).. go in, "Repairing corrupted library. Searching for music and podcasts"
After a little while... 2 hundred and something found...
    Yup, all there...
    Guess what...
    Volume control is screwed again!
Manually telling it to scan for new tracks doesn't do anything.
    *#7780# - Soft reset
Apps\Music\music library (276 songs)... Go in "Repairing corrupted library....."
2 seconds later "Search complete 0 file(s) added"
All albums there, still no volume control.
    Okay, that enough... No more...
Hopefully that is enough to give Nokia a clue as to what is wrong, and may I just make a slight suggestion.
TEST WITH MORE THAN HALF A DOZEN TRACKS YOU **^(*&)(*)(*(*£$%^*(#!
I'm off to buy a 7lb club hammer.

Last night I had a thought...
I wondered if the N97's Music player was getting upset when scanning my music because I had the jpg of the album cover in the folder with it (I tend to do that). As I hadn't bothered reloading any music since my last hard reset I thought I would give it a try.
I removed all non-mp3 files from my music folders.
Connected N97 in PC Suite mode
Started Nokia Music PC app and transferred one album. Let it finish, closed the PC Nokia Music app, gave it a few seconds to settle, disconnected the N97 and had a look.
It appeared in the music player and worked.
Ooooh, right, in for a penny, in for a pound as they say... I connected it back up and sent over another 6 albums. Again closed the Nokia Music app... Waited a few seconds and disconnected the N97.
Went and had a look... "Library corrupt, scanning.... blah blah"... Oh dear, here we go again. But no, a progress bar actually appeared, and after a minute it said "0 file(s) added", but they were all there. All the album art appeared (I'd already embedded that in the mp3 files days ago). All the albums, all the music.
They played, and the volume worked!
Yay! Thinks me... Solved... And goes to bed a happy man.
I set my alarm (on the phone) for the morning and turn the phone off so nobody can phone me before my alarm (which really screws up my sleep!).
This morning the alarm goes off.
I hit stop. It asks if I want to turn the phone on, I say yes.
It asks for my lock code (which I have enabled). I enter it. It says code correct.
Flash of white on the screen... and it asks for my lock code again, which I enter... It says correct again.
This time I get the Nokia tune.
It comes up to the normal front screen, jumps itself onto the application screen, throws up a system error and reboots.
It comes back up (without asking for a pin) and this time settles at the front screen looking for all the world like a working phone... A text message arrives to prove at least that's working.
Hmmm... I wonder about my music...
Well it's all there... But guess what... Volume control doesn't work again!
Oh and clicking "Podcasts", of which I have zero, still produces, and has always produced (even straight after a hard reset), the message "Out of memory, please remove something"... Pressing it again produces "System Error". After that nothing in the Music Library menu works, all produce "System Error". You have to close it and restart to get anything in Music Library to "work".
I wouldn't say I am short of memory. DeviceInfo (from moubail.com) Shows
    C: 32.68 MB free
    E: 30116.46 MB free
    F: (8Gig card) 7120.86 MB free
    RAM: 48.83 MB free.
I keep my C: drive clear of everything. Even my text message storage has been switched to E: (not that I have may since all the hard/soft reboots. Most of them are the "Welcome to nokia" message. Anything that gives me the option to install to another "drive" gets put onto E:
I haven't installed any of the 3 files offered in since the hard reset "SW Update", N-Gage, Nokia Messaging or Ovi Contacts.

  • N97 mini music player problem

i dont know whats going on but yesterday i was transfering new songs to the phone then suddenly the screen turns black and the phone dead.  i took out the battery and restart again but all songs inside the phone gone and i cant transfer any songs now. its shows in the hard drive that still have 700 songs but it says no songs when i pressed on the music player? i tried restarting many times but no use.  anyone know how to solve this problem?

    Hi,
This same problem is with my n97 mini but not with the music player since I\ve never tried using it. It happens with me when I sometimes open my images or other stuff, the screen goes black and than it restarts itself or it shuts down. Even my WLAN is not working properly ( may something wrong in the settings. Anyways did you tried to update your music playlist on phone?
I think whenever you transfer songs, you will to update the playlist.

  • N97 Firmware 2.1 Music Player - Podcast listing

I just updated to 2.1, and within the music player - podcasts, i have lost, Never Played, recently heard, all podcasts and now only have listing by podcast name.   liked the prior features, anyone know if this is a bug or "upgrade"?
    thanks

I had the same problem with my N97 after fw upgrade and was about to chuck it out the window for good before I found this RE:defective music library:
    http://sjc-nokia5800.blogspot.com/
Here's what I did: (same resetting method modified for N97 fw 2.0)
    1) Connect your phone to your computer in Mass Storage mode
    2) Browse to the following folders and delete ONLY the files inside, NOT THE FOLDERS:
    Private/101ffc31, Private/101ffca9 and Private/10281e17
    3) Unmount/Disconnect the phone
    4) Go to Music Library and N97 should show a "Corrupt Music Library" message and start fixing it automatically.
    5) A few minutes later (depending on the size of your music library) it will show "#### New Songs Added" and everything should be back to normal.
Hope this is useful to someone.
My personal 2 cents: I think it's a compatibility bug in music catalog files between fw 1.x and 2.0, and strongly believe Nokia must clean up its act on its symbian flagship.
