Hi, put your simcard and battery in, connect to charger and make sure it has not just run out of battery.
If not, try your old simcard again. If it should, by any chance, be your new simcard screwing up, then get a new one.
Do you have a memorycard installed? Pull it out and try powering on.
If not - You should try a hard reset. This will delete everything on phonememory, but might be the only solution. Press Caps shift - space - backspace while powering on. Keep holding the buttons in until youre past the "nokia handshake screen".

How to get albums covers also to phone (N97), not ...

I do not understand why does my N97 not have the album cover pictures but for about 10% of the albums. Especially odd this is regarding that Ovi Suite displays the same albums with cover pictures on PC.
All the albums have been copied from my CD's.
Those albums having their cover displayed in both the phone and the pc are, e.g., Hard Days Night (Beatles), and Beethoven: Klavierkonzerte by Deutsche Grammophon.
Those albums having their cover displayed only on pc (not on phone) include, e.g., Heavy Horses (Jethro Tull) and Eternelle, Best of (Edith Piaf and others).

Ovi Player is sometimes erratic with album art - if you add it to trakcs using Ovi Player it isn't always transferred to the phone.

N97 (not mini) - Microphone not working

I have a Nokia N97 (not a mini) and the microphone has abruptly stopped working properly. I first noticed it 2 days ago (the day before that, the phone was working fine). Basically, when I speak to someone on the phone, I have to raise my voice quite a bit to be heard - people on the other end of the line have advised me that I sound faint, they can hardly hear me, or it sounds like I'm calling from a distance.
The issue with the microphone does not change whether the call is outgoing or incoming and it doesn't seem to make a difference whether I use the phone normally or on loudspeaker.
I haven't dropped the phone or done any damage to it - certainly not in the last 48 or so hours that would explain the sudden microphone issue! I also haven't updated anything or downloaded anything. My use of the phone over the last few weeks has been normal (phone calls & text messages mostly), but minimal.
Would this likely be a hardware or a firmware/software issue??
I've tried searching for a similar topic but am coming up with zilch - any help would be greatly appreciated!

Nokia N97 not charging

My Nokia N97 use to be in perfect condition and would charge every time i plug it in. However, lately whenever I plug it in, it charges and then it stops and says "Unplug charger from power supply to save energy" and then it says "Not Charging" and then it charges again and then it doesn't. The light near the charging slot always turn on and off multiple times. I have to play around with the charger and plug it in and out multiple times to get it to work. When it finally starts to charge, it takes extremely long to charge. It used to charge quick but now it take hours. Also, if it is charging, and I accidently touch the phone or the cord, it will immediately stop charging. Then I have to play around with the cord again so it will charge. Please help! What is the problem with my phone and how can I fix it? Thanks so much!

I have the exact same problem.
A new charger does not solve the issue.
The problem also occurs on USB. However, the USB connection is left in place even if it stops charging. And when connected to the charger: the phone does notice the charger is still connected. As soon as I pull the plug it immedieately puts up the notice again that I should unplug it for energy savings.
So it does know it is connected, but it simply refuses to charge the battery untill you disconnect and reconnect it multiple times.
This is either:
1.) A software issue
2.) A issue with the battery's internal protection.
I sent a large email to Nokia regarding this issue as this entire N97 is starting to me very angry. Nokia must be laughing very hard about the people paying a ton of money for a product that doesnt even work and will not work for even a year!
Camera slide problems, unlock slide falling off, C: space running low even if you install everything on E: and now the battery that appears to be dead after less than 8 months.
And support or warranty service is nowhere to be found, the nearest Care point only helps ppl that have a business contract with them and the other care points are uber far away. And if you want to send your phone: it can take up to a month or more before it will be repaired!
Great job Nokia.... Your service is extremely bad, and with such a bad service: your phones are way too expensive. You dont care about the clients as soon as they have paid. You dont provide any service at all.
To topic starter:
try to charge your phone on USB. If it charges without issues: get a new charger.
If it gives the same issues: Check your battery or try to find a Care point. Although the care point dont really care about customers.

I bought a n97 today. I checked the web browser. ıt is said that flash is running but i get in to facebook. No video can be watched.
Besides i can't acess to my interset server of my banks. My banks internet server works with flash player. i could acess with n78 but not n97.
Facebook chat on the facebook official site do not appear. The browser do not show it...
It's not a computer. It's not a smart phone. It's a fool phone...

Can you not make do with the Facebook app? If facebook chat is a must, try Palringo from Ovi Store.
What happens with your bank's website? I had problems with mine until I started using the D Pad for navigation then it worked fine.

N97 Not powering up.......

Hi guys i was having a few probs with my n97 so i tried re-updating the software via ovi suite then it came up with an error so i disconnected the usb and remove the battery once when i put it all back in the phone does not power up i can feel the inital vibration when i press the power button but not a single light or the screen come on......please can someone HELP!!!!!!

I ve had this problem for some times now. As stated above only a hard reset will turn it back on. Problem is when you do this you then have to restore your device and reload the stuff back on your phone (extremely time consuming). Imagine having to do this almost twice a month becasue when I send it in to Nokia it came back working but problem reccurring almost a day later. Sending it to Nokia is waste of time. After the last hard reset (being the 5th time), I left the phone in its original state and seems to work OK. still freezing/hang ups, screen back light wont turn on at times, and bunch of other problems which is the petpeeve of this device.

Ok this is not a conventional way but had the same problem as many others, trailed the internet, tried everything and live some 2hrs away from a nokia service centre.
my n97 wouldn't charge nor turn on whatever I just see the little led charge light on, I understood this is a software problem with the battery management program which is ridiculous but found myself without a phone so decided to remove battery and take off the plug to an old phone and connect the + and - directly to the battery for 10mins and conected the battery back up turned phone on and connected it onto the main N97 charger and hey it started normally. Obviously this doesn't sort the intial problem out but gets it bk up and running,

My Nokia97 mini is only charging form led, not turning ON nor showing chargin indicator.
2 days earlier I've had given it for repair now mechainic is saying that voltage is droping.
Please suggest what shoul I do now ?

Nokia N97 Not booting Up...

So I was having issues with getting my usb cable to charge with my phone, and also my phone kept turning on and off, but then netquin antivirus says it has detected multiple startups and has disabled all startup programs, and now my phone will not boot and I cant even recover the data using USB cable. I am unable to do a hard reset because I have alot of important contacts and photos on there...

Unfortunately you are probably stuck now as Care Point would have disclaimer about preservation of any data; don't really know why installing application such as Netquin Antivirus upon N97 which is short enough on phone memory as it is.

N97 - Not recognising Contacts

I am getting text messages/phone calls from people whose numbers/details I have saved on my sim/phone but when I open the message or answer the call it does not show the persons name......Can any one help

I also have this problem. I have never had contacts stored on my sim (I also checked the sim to make sure) and I have thoroughly checked my contacts for duplicates.
One thought I did have which applies to the USA, for some bizarre reason sometimes you need to include the country code (1) when you dial. I think this has to do with calling somebody on another network so I can only assume that you don't need it for calling people on the same network. To make things easier I have the country code included in the phone numbers of my contacts and if this is the problem the only way to resolve it would be to work out or ask all of my contacts if they are on a different network to me. As you can probably imagine it's not something that I would want to manually manage. If my assumption is correct then the fault lies with the US networks and not Nokia.

Media player N97 not working

I am struggling with N97 media player every time I try to play a video including the ones captured by the phone camera I receive the following message
“Enable to play either sound or video clip, trying to play partially” then I only get the sound with no images. Please help as that phone got useless to me, I have many memories in those videos I would like to keep

Have you made a backup of your videos to a PC? Do the videos play on any other device such as a PC or another mobile phone? If they do, then back them up along with any other media files and messages you need to keep and perform a *#7370# factory reset of the phone. This will wipe all data from the phone and reformat the internal storage to put the phone into an "out of the box" condition. The default security code is 12345 unless you have changed it yourself.

N97 not restoring after backup

Hi,
Im using nokia pc suite on windows vista via usb and a week ago i backed up all my data from my N97 because it was being sent off for repair (surprise surprise!)
I knew that the back up worked because I looked at the photos that had been transferred onto the laptop!
However the phone has returned today and as i tried to restore, it gets to 100%, the phone tells me its going to restart, then it restarts and nothing new is on the phone! This happened to me before with my N95 but i put it down to the phone being rubbish, but now its happened again and I have potentially lost all my important info!
Anyone any ideas? Ta!

PC Suite will backup the phone content to a .nbu file (C:\Document and Settings\[user name]\Application Data\PC Suite\). There's only a log (which is backuped and which is failed etc) to view when the backup process is done. You can use Noki to check the sanity of the backup file or extract content out of it.

N97 not seen by Honda Handsfree Link?

I have a new n97 I am trying to use with the built-in hands-free car-kit in my 2008 Honda Odyssey. Has anyone done this?
When I tell the Honda I want to set up a new phone ("Phone Set Up") the car pauses and replies "No phones have been found."
On the n97, Connectivity for Bluetooth is "On, shown to all" and Phone Accessory Settings for Wireless car kit has the Default Profile set to "Active Profile".
This worked with my N95 8GB NAM, and the phone is seen, and does pair with, my MacBook Pro.

Hi,
I'm quite irritated with email client of the touch devices is different than the client on my E71.
When an email is read, then no status is synched to the mail server. Even when I delete an email, it doesn't occur on the server.
When are you going to updat the email client on the touch devices? The strange thing is, that there is an option in the settings that status read --> Sync with server.
Can you update me?

Everything in order again. Lets see how long this lasts :-)

N97 not starting after software reinstallation

Hi All, Just reinstalled the software on my phone and now it refuses to start. Screen lights up and computer beeps but no nokia screen. Any Suggestions?

I can't connect anymore my phone to the computer since I actualise all software (ovi and pc suite). It says that the phone are connected in a not compatible way. I only made the same. Connect the phone and select pc suite.
Nothing changes. Only the nokia software. How can I solved this? It's urgent. My N97 is my poket pc.
