N97 out of memmory (1500 exchange mails on C driv...

My N97 gave me an out of memmory msg the other day and it has been running REALLY slowly and some times has problems showing stuff on the home screen. (like pcitures of favorite contacts) and mails in the "Mail for Exchange" box.
I have 1500 or so e-mails on the phone, and I think they are stored on the C drive take up all the space. Is this the "memmory" I am out of, and if so, how do I store the exchange mails on my E Drive?
Any help would be much apreciated.
Thank you.

Replaced my buggy Nokia N97 with a HTC Hero.
Besides the camera and the real keyboard the HTC Hero pawned the N97 on every level.

if you are using nokia messaging app there is no way to store them anywhere else but the c drive. if you are using another program you might be able to store it in the e memory.
back up all your data and try this #2 it might help your phone behave a bit better.
 1. *#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default ( you will not lose any data)
Make sure you back up your data as you will lose all of it when you perform option 2 or 3 on this list. The default code for ALL operations listed here is 12345
2. *#7370# - Reformat your phone (out of the box, tho keep in mind that most newer nokia phones at least n series, e series and s60 based phones have udp - user data preservation so not ALL data may be lost. still it is a good idea to always do a back up of your stuff.)
3. This you perform as a last resort. Nothing else is working. If the phone is not showing any activity, proceed with hard formatting , turn off your phone, hold the following buttons while pressing the power button. (the default code is 12345)
hard reset - hold the following buttons *, 3 (number button) and talk/green key. turn on the phone and do not release those buttons until you see the Nokia boot up screen. once you feel the phone power up you can let go off the power button while still holding all three buttons ( for Nokia 5800XM - use the following buttons to do a hard reset, GREEN/RED/CAMERA keys pressed all at once on power up. this will only work on 5800's that have firmware version 20... and up. )
If these codes are not working the only thing for you to do is contact your Nokia Care Center/Service for assistance.

  • Nokia Email App and Exchange Mail quit sync'ing gm...

Life was good for many months using the Nokia Email app on my N97 to make my main email account, gmail, function essentially as push email.  Suddenly, Nokia email quit getting new mail from my gmail inbox.  Mail I sent from the N97 was still sent, and still sync'ed to my gmail sent mail.  I uninstalled and reinstalled the Nokia Email app with no success.  So I changed to the Exchange mail app which I don't find as functional, but the same thing happened - it wouldn't get mail from my gmail inbox but would still send mail from the N97 and sync that to the gmail sent box.  This happened more or less two weeks ago.  My son had the same setup on a N97 mini, and his Nokia email app has continued to work with his gamail inbox.  This suggests something is amiss with my gmail, but I changed nothing, and Google is/was no help.  So I've reinstalled the Nokia email app (from the ovi store) and changed over to ovi mail which I access with the email app on the N97, and I have my gmail forwarded to my ovi mail.  So far that is working.  Wonder if anyone else has had this happen and has any solution?  Cheers and TIA!

I posted I had created an @ovi.com email account and that I was using the Nokia email app (form the Ovi store) to get push email working.  I forwarded my @gmail.com account to the @ovi.com account.  Well, that worked for a few days, then it also quit sync'ing and downloading mail even though I could send mail using it. So then out of the clear blue, I got this email directly to my N97:
    From: [email protected]
    Sent:  04/30/2011 4:15:49 AM
Subject:  Please re-enter your password for this mailbox
    Dear Nokia Messaging customer,
Recently, our email service has been unable to authenticate with your email
provider, preventing email delivery to your phone. Perhaps you changed the
    password for this email address.
You must update your Nokia Messaging mailbox settings with your latest pass
word. Once you have done that, we’ll resume trying to fetch your em
    ail.
Please go to Options -> Tools -> Settings -> [email protected] -> E-mail pa
ssword and re-enter your password. E-mail delivery to your phone should res
    ume shortly after that.
    Sincerely,
    The Nokia Messaging Team

Well, I had NOT changed my password, but I did what they asked, and my @ovi.com account started working with my N97 again.  I did not go back and try with my @gmail.com account.  I am just so tired of trying to get/keep my push email working with my N97.  There are many other manufacturers with smart phones that work correctly with push email.  I'm not sure which I will be changing to soon.

  • IPhone out-of-sync with Exchange after performing inbox search?

    Hey everyone,
I work as an IT technician for an Enterprise where the majority of end-users utilize iPhones (4 and 4s) and iPads (all versions) with varying versions of iOS. Many of these people have ActiveSync set up with our Exchange Server (2008RS, Exchange 2010). We have received a pretty consistent amount of user complaints for a while where end-users' iPhones will [seemingly randomly] become out of sync; i.e. they delete an email on their iPhone and their Outlook doesn't reflect this for hours or visa-versa.
We have traced this down to indexed searching with the iPhone. In a nutshell, if an end-user tries to search their inbox for an email using the search feature, this is when everything becomes out-of-sync with Exchange. The workaround is restarting the phone (for some reason restarting the Mail app doesn't help).
I am curious if anyone has more information around this or perhaps a fix so we're not having to tell people (namely Executives and VIPs with larger inboxes...thus searching is used more) to restart their iPhones all the time.
I thank each of you in advance for any advice you may have. Thanks!
    -Ryan

    Hi mehrardt,
It does sound like the exchange email account has to be removed from the iPhone and then added again.
If he has another personal email account on the iPhone, you can have him delete the exchange account and then tap a configuration profile that you emailed him.
The iPhone Configuration Utility available here: http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/enterprise/ will let you create a configuration profile with certificates, which you can email. The receiver would just tap the profile and it would configure the iPhone.

  • Using Exchange Mail Offline

Does anyone out there have experience using an Exchange mail account offline (in airplane mode)?
My boss is used to using Outlook 2010 offline on his Windows 7 laptop.  Once he gets off the airplane, everything he did offline synchronizes with the server when he connects to the internet - emails get sent, calendar entries are entered and emails are filed into subfolders.
In the past this was a problem with iOS.  I've tested this on my iPhone and it seems to be working properly.  I'm looking for confirmation from anyone with experience please.
    Thanks
    Mike_Rafon

I don't know all the differences between connecting to an exchange server as an exchange server or as an IMAP server.
But I do know that I get mail okay and I can accept meeting requests connecting as IMAP. I can't send mail because the exchange admins don't serve up an SMTP server. I just use another account for that.
I also don't look at the exchange calendars, and have no need to share my calendars with the exchange users. If I did, I would just use OWA.
If you could live with a similar arrangement and your exchange admin offer it, consider switching your email connection type to IMAP.

  • Is it possible to access the data on iphone through exchange mail server?

    Hi all,
By accident I ve pressed 'wipe this device" on my company email that my iphone was connected to. So they deleted all data on my iphone and I had to restore through itunes. My question is this?
    1. Is it possible to restore my iphone prior to "wiping out"?
    2. Is it possible that microsoft's exhange mail cannot only delete all data from my iphone but also copy them?
    Thanks
    ieroklis

    Thanks for your answer,
It appears I ve lost 1 month of data as the last backup was 1 month ago.
Do you know if the company through the exchange mail server can also copy all my data (personal emails, photos, videos etc) that I had on my iphone? or they can just delete them remotely? Is apple protecting all iphone users from this sort of invasions?
    Thanks

  • Exchange mail setup - unable to verify certificate

When i set up my exchange mail account, just after i enter the exchange server details, i get a message saying "unable to verify certificate" and the option to "accept", which i did.
Thereafter i get the error message "failed account verification"
Does anyone know what the issue / workaround here is?

OK, here is my information from Outlook OMA.

  • Mail (Yosemite) not syncing all Exchange mails

I tried hard it convert from Outlook 2011 to shiny Mail. For me a disaster. Here are my problems with it:
Mail does not receive all mails. Some are just left out. There seems not to be any rule. Even syncing doesn't change a thing. Some mails stay at the server.
I send a mail and need the sent mail. I only find this in my Sent folder after a minimum of 15 minutes. Sometimes it takes more than an hour. Syncing or re-starting Mail didn't poke Mail to get these quicker from the server.
Although the receiving is set to be checked "automatically", it takes up to five minutes to get a new mail after it arrived on the server.
All the above don't happen with Outlook. Running both applications in parallel will always lead to MS gets the newly arriving mail first. Even a mail sent from Mail appears immediately in Outlook's Sent folder. When you are really a fan you may get around with these two. But not receiving some mails is a no go.

Sometimes this issue is caused by a misconfiguration or incompatibility of the Exchange server, or perhaps by a bug in Mail. If so, you won't be able to resolve it yourself. The fact that your iOS devices may be working well with the same account isn't relevant, because iOS uses a completely different protocol (ActiveSync) to communicate with Exchange servers. By default, OS X Mail uses the EWS protocol.
Each of the following steps has been reported to help with Exchange issues, at least temporarily, in some cases:
    1. Back up all data. Open the Internet Accounts pane in System Preferences and check to make sure you don't have duplicate Exchange accounts. If you do, delete all but one of the duplicates. If there are no duplicates, delete the account and recreate it with the same settings.
    2. Rebuild the affected mailbox.
    3. Reindex messages.
    4. Follow the instructions in this support article to disable autodiscovery. You may need to get configuration details from the server administrator.
    5. In the Keychain Access application, delete the password item for the account. The next time Mail tries to access the account, you'll be prompted for the password. Check the box to save it in the Keychain.
    6. If you've created subfolders of the Exchange inbox, log in to the server through its web interface, move the messages out, and remove the subfolders. The inbox should have no subfolders.
    7. Synchronize with the server using IMAP rather than EWS. This is only possible if IMAP is enabled on the server.
    8. Consider using Outlook instead of Mail to access your Exchange mail.

  • I have just setup an exchange mail account on my iphone and many of my settings have defaulted. Was this set by my business or by exchange?

I have just setup an exchange mail account on my iphone to acces smy business emails and many of my settings have defaulted. As an example, my passcode has defaulted to a minimum of 6 digits and my phone will erase all data after 10 failed attempts.  These are now greyed out and I cannot change them.
Is this a default set by Apple/Microsoft?
Or was this a setting enforced by my company, whose mail exchange I am accessing?

ditto what KT said...the passcode requirement enables the encryption of the local storage of your device and auditing of that policy ..it protects your organization AND you from potential data loss and a  mandatory reporting obligation..imagine how miserable it would be to see the name of your organization on the front page of your local newspaper with a story about data loss....every IT and risk management department's worst nightmare

  • ICU shows errors during the connection to exchange mail

    Hello everyone,
I have the following problem. When connection the exchange mail, during the synchronisation, such error appears on my device's screen:
    "Cannot Get Mail.

After few minutes, when errors on the screen are confirmed many times, the mail is synchronised and messages are downloaded from the server to the device (e.g on iPhone5 iOS 7.1).

    Thanks in advance!!

Hope this helps someone like me, who has trying to figure out what went wrong. I have an iPhone 3G and ActiveSync to Exchange 2003 was working perfect for month's. All of a sudden today it stopped syncing my inbox and my battery just about died? Searched and Searched, rebooted Exchange, removed email account info, still not luck keep getting "Cannot Get Mail" "The connection to the server failed" message. The weird thing is I could get to my sent items, Calendar and AD contacts? But a thread in another Apple forum opened my eyes to what the problem was...a corrupt email in my inbox. Not sure what email it was I pretty much deleted every email I had after the last one I received on the iPhone. But it fixed the problem, no messing with Exchange virtual directories...nothing...just deleted a corrupt email!
    Hope this helps someone.....

  • Exchange mail not recognized

I put in the server, user name, password in setup but still no mail.
I also went back, deleted the account, and from the "info" menu of the iPhone screen, went to the bottom of the page and selected "advanced" "replace information on this iPhone' hoping it would create the account for me and sync. No help either. Went back added account and tried to use the "advanced" selection again. No help.
    Thanks in advance.

The Exchange sync is now working for me against our corporate Exchange 2003 server, but it took a bit of trying to get it to go. Here's what I found I needed to do:
    1. I had to call my corporate helpdesk to have them enable my account for remote access (aka, to let it use ActiveSync). Apparently ActiveSync isn't allowed by default in our system. Of course, I have no idea how paranoid your Exchange admins are compared to mine, but it might be worth a phone call.
    2. The "Exchange server" you need to enter isn't necessarily your mail server--it's the server where ActiveSync is running. In my case, my Mac's Entourage setup hits my real Exchange mail server and when I tried to put that same server name into the iPhone, it didn't work; however, as it turns out, that's not the server where we run ActiveSync. I found out that my company runs ActiveSync on our publicly facing Outlook Web Access server (http://outlook.companyname.com). The good news for me is that now my corporate email is available from anywhere since it's based on the publicaly-facing OWA server, versus the "real" Exchange server that's behind a few layers of firewall and requires a VPN to get to from outside of work. Again, I have no idea where your company runs ActiveSync, but try your externally facing OWA server instead of your mail server.

    Hello Juanita289
Check out the article below to troubleshoot issues with connecting to WI-Fi. You may want to reset the Network Settings by going to Settings > General > Reset  > Reset Network Settings. It will not delete remove any personal data besides and known Wi-Fi networks that you have joined in the past.

  • TS3899 iOS email notification bug with exchange mail server

    Hi,
Recently I noticed that my iPhone often plays new email notification sound but there is no new emails shown in notification centre and unread numbers on the email icon stays the same.
I have an email account set up and its connected to Microsoft exchange mail server, I have some sub-folders under my Inbox, I also have some rules set up to automatically move some non-impotrent emails to those sub folder.
Under fetch new data settings I choose push my inbox as default, but I didn't tick those sub-folders under my inbox.
Also under notification settings I have enabled everything for Mail app.
After some invistgation I found out that everytime this happens I have a new email in one of those sub-folders under my inbox, although it should only be updated manually..
Anyone have any Idea on how to prevent this from happening??

While this is only a guess, I suppose that you have these rules set up at the server. The mail hits the inbox, and then is filtered to the sub-folder. I'm guessing that your notification comes from the mail arriving at the inbox, but before it is counted there, it has been moved to the sub-folder. Your opening mail allows the folder to get populated on the phone. I'm not sure if there is a cure for that, and again, that is pure conjecture on my part. Better than anything anyone else has posted.

  • IOS email notification bug with exchange mail server

    Hi,
Recently I noticed that my iPhone often plays new email notification sound but there is no new emails shown in notification centre and unread numbers on the email icon stays the same.

  • Iphone exchange mail - Help!

To the students out here. Anyone have any tips to get the exchange mail to work with my student email. I have had it working in the past, but now it will not verify it. I am using mail.university.edu as the exchange server.

You should configure your account just like it is on the Treo. You don't need to add the subdirectory onto the hostname and you don't need the http or https. SSL is generally ON for default ActiveSync installs.
If your setup isn't working, then my first guess is that your company is using self-signed certificates (or something) that is already provisioned on the Treo and/or in Internet Explorer and you don't have it on the iPhone.
The second guess is that your network administrators require the Treo to be a registered device with ActiveSync and the iPhone isn't.
My third guess is that they are not allowing devices to connect if they appear to the server to be iPhones.
Of course, these are all guesses based on limited knowledge of your infrastructure.
I hope there are some tips in here that might help.
