  • South Africa Online Number not charged at local ra...

    Hello,
I bought a South Africa online number so that my friends and family can contact me when I travel. "An Online number lets family, friends and colleagues call a no from their mobile or landline at local rates". My father informed me, however, that when he calls the number it gets charged at premium call rates (R2/minute). This was not my intention at all, he might as well have phone my cellphone directly and it would've been cheaper. Can this be fixed and if not, I would like to request a refund.

  • N78 Update for South Africa

    Hi,
Does anyone have a clue when the latest version will become available here in South Africa. I'm still on 10.136 and having major issues with bluetooth connectivity. I've noticed from posts that it seems to have been corrected in v11, but alas my phone doesn't find any updates and now I can't connect to my hands-free kit in the car on my new phone!!! Arrrggg. Help appreciated. Thanks :-)

now I've just got to figure out a way of getting the network operator to help out.
Network operators aren't very cooperative on the whole. There are many hurdles to clear before you can get any joy out of them.
Firstly, the front-line personnel that you speak with when you call customer service and when you visit one of their stores don't usually have a clue what has actually been done to the phones. They don't know what firmware is, let alone branded firmware. The idea is therefore to convince them to escalate your query to someone who has two brain cells to rub together (not easy to find in most telcos). If/when you do get to speak to someone, there's a 99% chance they'll blame the lack of updated firmware on Nokia. They almost invariably do that.
The thing you have to bear in mind is the politics and the huge amount of money involved. Any one operator buys tens if not hundreds of thousands of handsets from Nokia, so if Nokia decided to start debranding those handsets, thus removing the stuff that the operator had put on them in order to "protect their revenue streams" (read: fleece the end-user), the networks would simply stop shifting Nokia handsets and make a deal with another manufacturer.
Nokia Care Points can debrand a phone for you, change the phone's product code and install the latest, generic Nokia firmware on it, but only if these conditions are met:
    1) the phone must not be SIM-locked (i.e. it must work with any SIM, not just one from your operator)
    2) you must have written permission from the operator to debrand the phone, clear out the operator-specific firmware and install Nokia's generic firmware.
If those two conditions are met (the first is easy enough, the second is as good as impossible), a Nokia Care Point will change the phone's product code, update it to the latest firmware and print out a new product identification label for the battery compartment.
This is the only way to go about it legitimately and without voiding your warranty. Any other methods you might find on the Internet, which involve software not sanctioned and provided by Nokia, will void your warranty and therefore cannot be discussed on these forums.
    Good luck!

  • Import Process for South Africa

    Dear All,
My client KLT Automotive is based in India. It has plants in India at several locations. They have put a new plant in South Africa. The procurement process will take place from India as well as South Africa.South Africa  will also Import goods from KLT India.
According to South Africa taxation, only VAT 14% and Customs Duties are applicable on Import Goods.I would ike to know how will the process flow will take place in the SAP system.
As for India Imports the following are the steps:
    1.Import PO
    2.Commercial Invoice/Bill of Entry
    3.Goods Receipt
    4.Invoice for the foreign vendor
I tried a similar process ,but the pop-up for Commercial Invoice does not come during Goods Receipt. The currency in PO was ZAR(South African Rand ) and commercial Invoice was also ZAR (South African Rand ).Was this the reason because which I could not enter the commercial Invoice number during Goods Receipt?

    Hi,
The process is same as below.
    1  Import PO.
    2. Commercial Invoice/Bill of Entry.
    3. Goods Receipt.
    4. Invoice for the foreign vendor.
And in PO for custom condition type enter local Vendor, which is having local currency as ZAR (South African Rand) by selecting lens button.
While capturing delivery cost during MIRO system will proposes this vendor and the currency will flow from vendor master. Then do GR and Invoice for the foreign vendor in other country.
And if both the plants are in same company code then follows STO process and even if it inter company code still you can do STO with by creating vendor/customer in supplying and receiving plant.

  • Error in South Africa Regional Settings in Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8

Please note that the format for numbers in South Africa regional settings is incorrect. I discovered this through on of our products that would not work on Server 2012, but works from XP to Windows 7.
Where the decimal was always a point it has now been changed to a comma, which is incorrect and most likely will cause a lot of issues for customers in south africa that use decimal data.
I can already see spatial data breaking where decimals are used and stored with points and not commas.
To reproduce this error set your regional settings to South Africa and execute the following code in C#
    System.Convert.ToDouble("10.1234");
This will throw a FormatException. Change regional settings from a , to a . and there we go it works.

It seems that this is development related issue, please try to submit a new post in DEV forum. Thanks.
    Thanks
    Zero
Respectfully Mr. Xia, it looks like the OP is reporting a localization issue, not a development issue.
    For the OP, there's a
well researched post by a South African developer describing that the decimal comma is the correct choice.  The work cites University style guides, International conference agreements, and government legislation and regulation.
An excerpt from Mr. MacLean's post, quoting work from EEPublishers:
English-speaking countries (plus China, India and Japan) use the decimal point. There seems to be a general tendency to formally declare its use worldwide and the International Organisation for Standardization, ISO, also tends towards using the decimal point
over the decimal comma. In view
of the South African law, however, the comma shall still be employed in South Africa as “the only recognised decimal indicator for all numbers” [3].

  • URGENT Vodafone "vodacom" blackberry service stopped Working in CDMA phones in WHOLE South africa

customers using CDMA devices like storm 9530,tour 9630 ....can not use blackberry service due to vodafone "vodacom" netWork issues !!!!!!
it looks like they  have removed CDMA device identifiers for their BB service books, so any time a CDMA device attempts to re-register with the network (such as after an update), they cannot do so. and they blame it on the cdma phones ...........
here is vodacom comment regarding the issue:
VODAFONE WANTS US TO BUY NEW PHONES....!!!!!!
On behalf of Vodacom, kindly accept our sincere apology for the manner in which your enquiry was dealt with and for any inconvenience caused.
The Blackberry device you are using is a Blackberry CDMA device.
Blackberry CDMA devices are brought to South Africa from foreign networks.
Blackberry CDMA devices are experiencing problems with the Blackberry service due to the incompatibly of these CDMA devices with our GPRS/3G Networks.

  • Buying creative cloud products in South Africa

I'm trying to buy Adobe InDesign (cloud option) online. I live in South Africa and if you go to adobe.com/africa/purchase, it gives you the option to go to the South African Adobe store.  When I click on the link, everything goes well until I get to the payment section.  Here I can enter my credit card details but I cannot change the country - it specifies United States and I am obliged to choose a state and enter a zip code.  Help!  How does one buy Adobe products online in SA?
I've phoned a reseller but they only sell annual once off subscriptions.  I'm interested in the annual, monthly subscription.

MarionettevD when your account was created United States was chosen as your country.  Please see Change the country associated with your Adobe ID for information on how to update the country assigned to your account.

  • 3 Month Repair Wait Time in South Africa

The mind totally boggles how RIM can sell South African customers a phone that has a standard three month repair wait time. Apparently, there are no repair facilities in South Africa and the phones must be shipped overseas for repair. What are you doing selling phones in our country without the proper facilities? You are creating an extremely bad reputation amoungst high end South African consumers. Either remove the phones from the market entirely or investment in the proper repair facilities.

RIM does not sell phones in South Africa, your carrier does.
You are not being reasonable to think a manufacturer like RIM must have a repair facility in each country in which its devices are sold, as RIM is in over 150 nations. Do the math.

  • South Africa App Store REALLY *****??

What is going on with the South Africa App Store?
There is no DRM on apps, so there is no reason that we cannot have exactly the same apps as the rest of the world.
But the No.1 rated app in the South Africa App store is KOI POND??
    and NO GAMES WHATSOEVER?
    <Edited by Moderator>

I agree, would Vodacom have any influence over that?
I still think its poor, if I can buy games on my PS3 and Steam and many other online platforms why not on Itunes?
It all just seems like a poor effort from Apple. Possibly a "couldn't care less" attitude.
I bought my first iPod because of the lure of buying music via iTunes, felt like I'd been conned when I actually installed it.
Got excited about the iPod games... (no DRM there right?) again sorry for me..
Guess I should have been already holding my ankles when I bought the iPhone to the lure of awesome games and phone thats also an iPod.
Imagine, I thought, waking up to my own custom play list in the morning...
Little did I know: its either a phone or an iPod, not both. You want a music Ring tone? SUCKER!!!! No music iTunes store in SA means NO MUSIC RING TONES FOR YOU!
So what that you have four of your favorite CD's right on the phone.
    No sms forwarding either (why???)
and NO COOL GAMES! let alone any useful apps.
Here are some of my favorites:
*Australian Post Codes* ( Saves me having to memorize them )
    *Point of Interest* (in Germany)
Delight(ful) (Where else would I get the kitchen utensils I import?)
Staumelder ( I just love Germain writing, I just can't help but stare ate the application description in wonder!)
*iBUS-Portland, OR* ( who wouldn't use that? AND its FREE)
I could go on and on, without even being able to list the ones that display as little blocks on my screen, I assume because I am in the wrong country.
But then I know I'm in the wrong country.... as far as iTunes and Apple are concerned anyway.
Since my first post was censored, I will say it again in a nice way:
Pretty please Apple, pay some attention to the (very) poor state of your iTunes SA Store,
