N97 Startup - "Allow connection to network for hom...

When the N97 starts up I get a message; "Allow connection to network to enable updates to Home screen content? Updates can be disabled from 'Options'.
Can I make this request go away?
I have tried to find the means to disable it in Options, but cannot find it. Home screen is on offline mode, but still this appears.

My home screen is quite simple.
Messaging - which should not need updates
Camera shortcut - no update there
Calendar - as above
Maps - set to internal GPS only, so should not ask.
Clock - no updates
Images shotcut
WLAN wizard
Converter shortcut.
I can't see any reason for any of these to ask to go online.  Have I missed something?
Should I remove them all and add one at a time to see which is causing the issue?

  • Can I use my wireless/Airport card to create a network for Home Sharing?

I don't have a separate router. Can I use my MBP's wireless/Airport card to create a network for Home Sharing?

I was unable to use the network preference "Create Network" option as it kept crashing, so I didn't really get to figure out if this is possible. If anyone else has done this, I would be interested to know for the future.
Is it possible to setup a home network without a separate router? Is the wireless/airort card enough to setup and maintain a home network for Home sharing?

  • Having trouble setting up home network for home sharing

Hi there, I'm new the idea of home sharing. What i want to do is watch the movies that i have on my iMac on my iPad. So sort of like wireless streaming.
I see that Home sharing on iTunes allows you to view videos stored on your iMac on another device like the iPad etc.
I've already setup Home sharing accounts and looged in on iTunes on both my iMac and iPad.
The problem is being on the same Wi-Fi network. I don't understand what this means.
I regualrly use Internet sharing to share my Macs internet connection with my iPad over WiFi.
But I'm not sure what setting I should use for home sharing to work to watch videos from iMac on iPad
On my iMac under Sharing there's a whole bunch of options DVD or CD sharing, File Sharing, Printer Sharing etc.
The only box i have checked is Internet Sharing..
What to i have to do to get the iMac and iPad sharing video over WiFi through home sharing??

In your configuration you have inadvertently created a different subnet for the wireless iMac G5. To remedy this, configure the AirPort Express so that the option to distribute IP addresses is DISABLED.

  • HT3819 Can you use a "guest network" for home sharing?

When I have my Macbook, AppleTV, and Iphone 5G all signed into a guest network my ipod won't recognize AppleTV. However, if I use a network that isn't a guest network it works just fine.
The guest network has a better signal than the non-guest network. That is why I want to use it.
Can a guest network not be used for Home Sharing?

    No

  • Can't wirelessly connect HP c7280 for home wireless network using A.express

Hey there, I'm hoping someone can help me. I recently purchased a HP C7280 multifunction printer and have had a wired connection with my new iMac. I'd like to connect wireless and am having extraordinary difficulty. I'm using the latest leopard update. HP doesn't seem to offer any clear assistance. so i'm using an airport express that's connected to my router. I set up a wep key 40 bit and am trying to input that information into the printer's wep key password request. It finds my wireless signal named "Airport" and asks me for a wep key, when i enter the wep key which is 6 letters and 2 numbers, the response I get from the printer is
"key must be >5 or 13 characters OR - >10 or 26 length with 0-9 and A-F (hex). I've tried to follow this request but i can't seem to make it connect. this aforementioned message keeps popping up. what must i do? i've even restored the printers network factory default to no avail

The HPc7280 printer seems to be notoriously buggy. Get the new updated driver from the HP website and try to reinstall from scratch. Make sure you delete the previous driver version, because it might be seeing that it was a wired connection. The HP cannot be set as a default printer on Vista machines, it has to be chosen as a printer. After many hours of setup, our HP is finally working seemlessly with our Macs and PC.

  • Wireless Network for Home use.

    Hey,
I am new to Mac and have a question about the frequency of the Wireless Network.
I have heard that there will be a new Ghz rate in the near future, 5.0 GHz (n) in stead of the existing standard of 2.4 GHz (g).
Has anyone heard of the new Ghz standard ?
My existing phone system is running at 2.4 GHz and the exiting wireless networks run at 2.4 GHz.
Will there be interference if both are used at the same time ?
I guess that is two questions but the same subject.
    Thanks,

My existing phone system is running at 2.4 GHz and
the exiting wireless networks run at 2.4 GHz.
Will there be interference if both are used at the
    same time ?
This is a difficult question to answer. It depends on the phone you use. For example, I have a pair of 2.4GHz cordless phones I bought a few years ago that do not interfere with my wireless network as far as I can tell. But many other 2.4GHz phone brands and models do. I only got lucky. There does not seem to be an easy way to tell which phone chipsets will interfere and which will not, even though all of them operate within the "same" frequency range.
2.4GHz is a band that is unlicensed, so anything can happen when you have so many manufacturers putting out phones, networking gear, gaming devices, microwave ovens, and other consumer devices all operating in the 2.4GHz unlicensed band. Sometimes devices just clobber each other.
There is a newer cordless phone standard operating at 5.8GHz. These phones have been in the stores for a while. They cost a little more, but the price has come down a lot in the past year. They are supposed to be unlikely to interfere with a 2.4GHz wireless network. But if you live within range of other homes and offices, you might still have to put up with interference from whatever devices your neighbors use.

  • Connecting two networks at home

I have my verizon dsl wireless router connected downstairs and it is hooked up to my wii so I may watch movies, etc. Upstairs at my office I have my computers and printers and none have wireless capability. So the problems is how do I connect my computers and printer at my office to the internet? I am assuming that I can not connect them to another dsl router and plug that into the telehone jack! That is, I can not have more than one dsl modem connected to the telephone line. The other option I am thinkig is if there was a wirelsss switch then I can connect my office equipment to the wirelss switch and then have that linked to my dsl router via the wirelss network. The problem is that I am unable to find a wireless switch. Can I make a wirelss router into a wirelss switch? How? Don't all routers assume that the uplink is hardwired and not wireless??
    Please help!
    Ashok

It's called a Wireless Ethernet bridge (also sometimes called a "gaming adapter" or "wireless ethernet converter").   Has one or more ethernet ports on it and acts as a wireless "client" connecting to an upstream wireless access point (i.e. your router).
Your other option is "power line" networking.    You use them in a pair -- one end is usually a 4-port switch (where you plug in your client systems) and then other is a single port ethernet (which you plug into the router).

  • Keeps asking to allow connections to the same application

I've had this issue since I istalled Leopard, but it just now started bothering me. I have my Firewall set to "allow access only for specific services and applications".
I have a list of applications for which I allow connections and other for which I don't.
Even though an application is on the list and I allowed all connections to it, every time I open it up, Leopard asks if I want to allow connections.
Is there a fix for this?

I found a solution that worked perfectly for me so far, hope it stays that way.

  • Trouble connecting to networks

I am having connection timeout errors when trying to connect to any network. Old networks that I previously used would work, however when I moved to my new house my new network would not connect and when I am on the road I cannot connect through airport at my hotels, I would have to use ethernet connections. Please help!!!

To start with your second question, if it is your wireless network at home then that makes you the system admin. The computer doesnt know from "jack" who administers your network so that person should be you.
Regarding your first question, the authentication methods are WEP, WPA, WPA2 and so on. I suggest and this is a temporary attempt. Diable your wireless security on your router and see if you can connect. If that works then re-enable its and try using WPA. Go thru the wireless configuration wizard as that wil be the easiest way on the laptop. On your router, set up WPA-PSK and use TKIP. Set a password that you can remember.
Next use the wireless setup wizard or the setup wireless network for home/office option in your wireless adapter properties. Enter the SSID or name of your network, then choose the same authentication method that you set in the router.
Let me know if that works. (Make sure you are not using MAC filtering as well as this will prevent you from connecting regardless of what you do)

  • HT4437 I bought a brand new iPad 3 and an Apple TV, both connected to the same wpa protected wifi network from home. It worked for a day, but when I woke up, the Apple TV couldn't be found anymore by neither iPad, MacBook or iPhone. Any clue? Thanks!

I bought a brand new iPad 3 and an Apple TV, both connected to the same wpa protected wifi network from home. It worked for a day, but when I woke up, the Apple TV couldn't be found anymore by either iPad, MacBook or iPhone. Anybody a solution for this?

Thanks for the swift reply, I have been looking online and a loose plug seems to be somewhat of an issue with many, I hope mine is actually a problem and not what others are experiencing. It's taken me this long to even reach out for the simple fact I HATE being a complainer but this is just horrible.
Do you have an iPad 3 as well? And is yours not experiencing any issues close to mine?
    Thanks again!

  • I recently changed my wifi password at home and now my iphone will not connect.  It will not ask me for a password just says will not connect to network.  Advice on how to get iphone to ask network password for wifi?

I recently changed my wifi password at home and now my iphone will not connect.  It will not ask me for a password just says will not connect to network.  Advice on how to get iphone to ask network password for wifi?

First, try tapping on the network in the Wi-Fi settings and then tap "forget this network". Then reselect the network in the main Wi-Fi settings screen and see if will then ask for a password. If not, try resetting the Network Settings in the General -> Reset section and then reconnecting to your W-iFi.
    Hope this helps.

  • TS1398 Update iPhone 4s to 6.1.3 (10B329) now I can't connect to any wifi networks at home or at work and all car Bluetooth systems will not connect either. Help! Extremely annoyed at apple for putting out software that causes such mayhem.

My iPhone 4s has been update as I said in subject bar.. Now can't connect to any of my cars Bluetooth systems. Also even more frustratingly can't connect to any wifi networks at home or work!!
How can apple put out such an update that causes so much grief and inconvenience to hundreds of people. Not to mention risking lives with Bluetooth kits not working...outraged!!!!!!

First, grow up.  Just because YOUR phone isn't working, doesn't mean Apple put out bad software.  I've not had any difficulty, nor has anyone else I know.  And just how is Apple risking lives with Bluetooth kits not working?  It's YOUR decision to talk on the phone or text and drive.  Not Apple's.
