N97 V21 browser viewing this site...

Has anyone from Nokia tried accessing the discussions here with their own N97 V21 browser?
It looks terrible!
For a starter the log on panel to the right is misaligned and the boxes you have to select and type your name and password into are invisible. You have to stab about with your finger randomly in the area you've seen them on a "real" desktop browser and hope you get lucky!
There are numerous other rendering issues, but they just make the page look like poo, the hiding username/password boxes would be a show stopper if you hadn't seen the page on a desktop machine before.
Ironic that one of Nokia's own sites is possible the worst rendering site I've ever seen on my N97!

That Bolt is pretty good, I like it.
OVI suite couldn't work out how to install the double signed app, it popped up saying it was going to install it onto the connected N97, and then nothing happened.
Copying it onto mass storage and then executing the jar on the N97 installed it correctly.
Re the bad rendering of this site, sure I appreciate Nokia are just using a commercial forum web package, but it's pretty bad they pick one that renders so badly on their own products! Could you imagine the fuss if the Microsoft site didn't work properly in IE and had to be accessed in Firefox?!
Nokia - More quality control... In all part of your business - Apart from the N97 getting run over by a Landrover test, I've done that one, it did damn well!

How do I show visitors w/o Java "You need java script enabled to view this site" ?

I use Firefox as my browser and through the use of NoScript generally do not have Java Scripting active. Although I can often tell just by the behavior of a page I visit that I need to enable some Javascripts, I often get a clear message from the website itself - something like "we see that you do not have Java script enabled, please do so" or perhaps "without Javascript you cannot view this site properly."
Now, I can just put a general message on the "splash page" saying "this website requires Java script to be enabled" for every visitor to see, but I would rather have the message just for those that need to see it because Java script is disabled. How do I do that?

Thank you Marion, I have done that (with you name attached, it was after all your idea!
BUT - I have discovered the following: dropping the "noscript text on the page to create an HTML object works and the "your browser. . ." text appears when Javascript is turned off, and just where I want it !
Now I just have to teach myself enough coding that I can set the text size and color and I'll drop this baby on every page. Whoopee!
This is the script I used. I put a several extra spaces in the code here cause I wasn't sure what effect it would have on the post and I don't know how to insert one of those script windows in the post.

Camera will not keep photos and unable to view this site under mobile

Anyone else have a problem with the camera not keeping a picture. It happens intermittently.
Secondly. How do I view the forums using mobile instead of full site? This stopped working with the new OS ver.

Re: Viewing the site as Mobile. Have you checked your Browser Settings - Settings/Developer Tools/Desktop Mode?
It may relate to the issue you're experiencing as the default is mobile, but you could look if you're unaware of the option.

I am trying to open a website that is using Microsoft content viewer, and the page does not show. Any ideas on how to view this site using firefox. It works on IE.

I am participating in an online class whose website uses Microsoft Content Viewer to view the class content. The browser opens a new page, but nothing is there. At the top of the tab it says Microsoft Content Viewer, and nothing else. Can anyone tell me how to view my course using Firefox? I would prefer not to use IE, but it works there.

When originally creating the pdf, you would need to choose another pdf conversion setting. In Word if you use the pdf menu, change your settings there: Adobe PDF > Change Conversion Settings. I would use High Quality Print instead. If you use the File > Print method, click the Properties button next to the Adobe PDF printer selection.
For your already created form, you can change the file so your users will not encounter issues. In Acrobat 9, which hopefully is similar in process to 8: Advanced > Preflight > Profile tab > PDF/A compliance > Remove PDF/A information.(You'll have to unsecure your form first).
You can read about PDF/A files in the Help.

Wrong language in browser on this site

I have language set to English in the drop list on this page, but lots of the text is in German.See last entry below.

Additional plugins are required to view this site

it's only veehd.com, and with DIVX player. the website is fine, but when I get to watch the movie, the aforementioned message appears. I promptly click on the install missing plugins box, which once the window opens it tells me no suitable plugins were found (video/x-msvideo). so I click on the manual install, which takes me to the divx player install, which is already present.

Your type attribute worked. My only question is now.....will it work for everyone? Will they have to have WMP downloaded? Unfortunately, the site is not live yet so no way to tell except on knowledge.

Why is my page not centered in browser view?

I am working on my home page. I set the container dimension to 700px and max width 960. I have tried other sizes. every time in Windows browser view my site shifts to the left with a large margin on the right. I can't get it to center. I have an error message saying :
Unsupported property: max-width
Affects: Internet Explorer 6.0; Internet Explorer for Macintosh 5.2
In Live View, it looks fine. Also, in browser view, my spry menu bar is not showing up (it does in Live View).
Anyone have any suggestions??

It would be soooooo much simpler and quicker for everyone if you would upload your page to your remote web space and post a link for us to see it in our browsers.
My guess is that your code has validation errors that need fixing.

How to set browser view as a desktop view by default in mobile using jquery

we are create one website in sharepoint 2013 with responsive.
when ever we are opening in mobile and desktop it is loading with exact UI.
But, our client asking us to change the view from mobile view to desktop view in browser while the page is loading,
the behind reason is dropdown view, our client expecting the look and feel exactly like desktop in mobile.

Answer is - Deactivate "Mobile Browser View" from site feature.
By default, "Mobile Browser View" is active to save data bandwidth in PS2013. When it is active, it renders "Site content" page assuming user just select list/library to perform operation.
If you want user to see site page first and then navigate, then please Deactivate "Mobile Browser View"

Any thoughts would be very welcome.

We don't have Macs, but our client and some colleagues do.
It's clear he is troubleshooting a problem with the web site when viewed in the Mac version of Safari.
To ulysses69: While clearly many of us are willing to help with this (and I kind of enjoy it, personally), questions like this are probably better suited to other web sites that have forums for general web site testing and troubleshooting. Apple's forums are specifically intended for questions and answers about problems using Apple's products, which isn't really what you're looking for. That said, I don't have a problem continuing in this thread. Just be aware that there are probably more effective places for this kind of question.

I cannot even publish the site. Muse crashes when I try to view site in browser and it crashes when I try to publish the site. It is not the browsers - yes I have tried. It has only happened since I updated to 2014.3 - just like everyone else having problems. This is a problem with the update. I can make a new site in the new release and it works - however all existing sites built before 2014.3 release is no good. This a big problem that needs sorting out. I should not have to rebuild everything again. I have sent my muse file via dropbox, as I have seen other people having trouble being asked to send the file through and it will be looked at. The url is http://australiasnaturecoast.businesscatalyst.com/ . This is not the correct version as I made a new site in the new muse update. I need my original version to work. I have tried uninstall and reinstall of Muse and this has not helped.

Viewing iWeb site in OS9 browser - anyone done it successfully?

Hi folks - I made an iWeb site yesterday and although it looks great on my OS X system under Firefox and Safari, my husband running OS 9.2.1 on a G4/733 cannot view the site successfully at all.
In IE 5.0 it loaded up OK but the menu links at the top of the home page didn't work, in Netscape (7, I think) the layout is all over the place, iCab 3 loads the layout OK, the menu links work, but it only briefly flashes the placed images up and then they vanish again. Has anyone managed to view an iWeb site OK using an OS9 browser? Any ideas what the problem is?

Thanks for your message Antonio. I did upgrade the version of IE to 5.1.7 but unfortunately the problem with th rollover links still remains. I am using the 'Formal' template and it's the small rollovers generated at the top of each page that don't work under that browser in OS9. I have got around the problem by manually including a second set of hyperlinks lower down on each page, to duplicate the rollovers, but this is a bit of a pain of course. Oh well, may just have to work on my DH to upgrade to OS X!

Please use a flash capable browser to view this video

I can not view the videos on muscleandstrength.com. I was able to view them yesterday and am able to view them on my desktop (win 7 32bit) but not my laptop (win 7 64bit). I updated flash player, which did nothing. Restarted firefox in safe mode. Still nothing. It is only occurring on this site, but like I said works on a different computer! Still error message where video would be. "please use a flash capable browser to view this video"

The Flash player is having inconsistent problems in different situations. You can try to temporarily view problematic Flash content inside Firefox using [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ie-tab-plus/ IE Tab +] or [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ie-tab/ IE Tab].

Any Browser/OS requirements to View iWeb08 Sites

I also get feedback from PC users not being able to access a website I built for my Community of Property Owners in Spain currently running on my .Mac account.
The site is protected and PC visitors seem to be able to open the home page after entering the username and password. Hovever when they try to move to an other page from the navbar, they are again asked for the keys, but when entered they just get logged off. Safari and Firefox works fine from my computer, but IE makes a mess.

(1) I want to submit a question through www.tune-up.com but the website does not accept my inquiry.

I checked my cookie settings, and it looks like I have the Firefox default settings (i.e. cookies are accepted). Tried to submit my inquiry again but it does not work. Please advise how to make sure I can submit inquiries etc.
(2) I want to start using the Google search again but not sure how do change the settings. I do not want to have DuckDuck Go as my default. Would you please describe how to change back to Google? Also, is the problem I described above perhaps related to the DuckDuckGo search engine I use?

On #1, you can check the site-specific cookie setting using the Permissions panel of the Page Info dialog. When you are on the page, you can open that dialog using either:
* right-click the page > View Page Info > Permissions
* click the padlock or globe icon in the address bar > More Information > Permissions
Skim or scroll down to "Set Cookies" to make sure it is not set to Block.
If that is okay, some other random thoughts:
* Are you using the site in a private browsing window?
* Do you recall disabling DOM storage, which sites sometimes use instead of cookies to store large blobs of data (Firefox controls access to DOM storage using your cookie setting for the site)?
On #2, your default search engine should not have changed. To change it to Google, you can use the icon on the left end of the search bar (the classic small search box that appears on the toolbar). Please see: [[Search bar - add, change and manage search engines on Firefox]].
I don't think there is any connection between #2 and #1.
