N97 v22.2.110 firmware causing random "rainbow" re...

My N97 (RM-507) was running so well until this latest OTA firmware update.
Now I keep getting random "rainbow" LED pattern reboots occuring at the rate of about 1-2 per day.
I'm afraid that I'm going to have to "wipe" the phone memory (hard reset) and reinstall all my programs over again (for about the 10th time!).
Gee thanks, Nokia!

Hi, I can only partly agree with this advice, I would hard reset the phone, as it helps, but DON@T BACK UP EVERYTHING, just contacts, calendar and notes. Backing up your settings etc can cause the problem to continue, the current settings are for v21 they may be incompatible with v2.2 so the reset is pointless if your going to restore the phone AND the problem !!
Hard work, but worth the effort of the reset.
Good Luck

  • N97 Firmware update v22.2.110

I can see the v22.2.110 for my N97 (RM-507), through the Software Updater. But am not able to update it through OTA or through the NSU app. Anyone facing a similar issue ??
Also i cannot see the v22.0.110 to update my phone.

Why it was necessary to open a new topic for this problem? The V22 issues topic is already exists. Anyway I suspect that the V22 is not released for your product code yet. It will be released soon.

  • What causes the rainbow swirling icon that locks a program such as address book?

What causes the rainbow swirling icon that locks a program such as address book? And how do I get out of it?

The Finder is just assigning the wrong kind and icon to what I presume are plist files. Often rebuilding the Launch Services will cure this, but sometimes Finder gets a strange bee in its bonnet about some particular combination of characteristics and what they mean, and it can't be dissuaded. Unless you are opening plist files, and get really annoyed when you double click one and Address Book launches and announces "wrong type of file" you can just ignore it. In my own ~/Library/Prefences folder plists are generally labeled correctly, probably because I have them assigned to open with Apple's own Property List Editor. But there are some other preferences that Finder has decided are something altogether different than what they are: WingNuts Prefs and Saved Games are both believed to be Eudora preferences; a whole batch of other prefs from a dozen differenct programs are described as TextWrangler preferences, and there's a another group thought to be Unix Executables. As long as the program they belong to isn't having a problem finding and writing to them, don't worry about it.

  • Envy 110 D411a causes kernel panic that crashes MacBook Pro

I posted this 10 months ago, with no response.
My Model D411a Envy 110 (PN: CQ809A   SN: CN264C228R05QR) is on an AT&T gateway/router.  We have a 13" MacBook Pro running OSX 10.7.5, a 13" MacBook Air running 10.8.5 and an iPad also on the same network.
Often, when I try to print a page from the internet from the MB Pro to the Envy 110, it causes a kernel panic on the Mac that crashes it, requiring a lengthy re-boot.  The display shows a big black box with the message that I have to re-start the Mac, starting with a complete re-boot - printed in several languages.  This does not always happen, but often enough to be a major problem.  It has not happened with the MB Air or iPad.
I have an identical printer in Florida that has not had this problem, as far as I can recall.  The gateway/router there is from Century Link.
An Apple "Genius Bar" guy suggested this is caused by HP using kernel extensions in its software, which no other printer manufacturers use.  I now own six HP printers.  I have had some problems keeping three of them going with the AT&T set-up and the same computers, plus a pre-Intel Mac Mini.  The oldest of the printers is an HP LaserJet 4ML, which is so old it has a long white beard — but still runs.  I hate just to abandon HP Printers, and the Envy is the best physical fit both here and in our Florida RV, but having it crash my laptop (most used) as much as half the time I try to print from the net makes it a problem rather than a solution.
I can't even find a reference to "kernel" much less "kernel panic" in any of the forums here, which adds to the feeling that no one knows what I'm even talking about.
If anyone out there has any advice to offer, I'd really appreciate it before I have to toss the printer and find one from another manufacturer.
    Thanks in advance,
    Dante

    Hi Dante,
From the post i understand that you are having issue with the MacBook Pro(Lion) with Envy 110.
Can you help me understand what all other printers have been installed on the same MacBook
We can try to uninstall the printer using scrubber/Reset the printing system and reinstall the printer with the software available on Web. (ENVY-110-series_v12.14.0.dmg).
Note: Performing this step will delete all the printer from the MacBook, and should be reinstalled.
    Use Scrubber Uninstallation:
Go to Applications>Hewlett-Packard , Press and Hold the "CTRL", "ALT","CMD" simultaneously click on Uninstall.
    Reset Printing System:
1.Open Print and Scan from System Preferences
2.CTRL Click or Right Click on the Printer box on the Left side and Choose " Reset Printing System"
    3. Click OK
    Do Repair Disk Permission
    1. Open Applicaion Folder>>Utilities>>Disk Utility.
    2. Sele t the hard drive containing the boot volume.
    3. Go to First Aid Tab and select Reprir Disk Permission.
Download and run the driver from web and add the printer to queue.
    See if it helps.
    Thanks

  • As of Firefox 36, disabling OMTC causes random crashes

As of Firefox 36, disabling OMTC causes random crashes in Firefox. This is particularly concerning, as THIS very support site (support.mozilla.org) has "please try disabling OMTC" as a common suggestion for a number of screen rendering issues. I think that going forward, asking people to "try disabling OMTC" will only WORSEN the issue, as a catastrophic Firefox crash which could cause loss of data is much worse than a screen rendering glitch.
To be clear, I am referring to the following setting in about:config:
    layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled = FALSE

hello, could you provide your latest few submitted crash reports? please enter '''about:crashes''' into the location bar, copy the latest few report ids from there starting with '''bp-''' & paste them here into a forum reply. thank you

  • New N70 firmware cause my phone restart randomly

    Hi there,
I just updated the firmware on my N70 from version v 2.0xxx to the latest v 5.0616.2.0.3. However, I found a problem is my phone will restart itself randomly, usually every 20-30 minutes. This happens even i did not touch anything on the phone.
It seems the firmware date is 24-04-2006.
    My phone model is RM-84
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

I too am having this problem with v 5.0609.2.0.1, although I'm not sure of the frequency of the reboots. I'll see if there is a newer version update available as haishan's appears more recent...

  • N97 bugs on v11 firmware

After updating the firmware on my N97, there are bugs both new and old. I wanted to describe them to determine if they are widespread or if it might be an issue with my phone.
    1. Landscape mode doesn't work properly. The top section of the screen rarely displays properly and instead usually shows a garbled mixture of the previous screen and the text or symbols from the current screen. This has happened since v10.
    2. Yesterday the phone randomly lost all the folders and organisation from the menu. I think it happened after a memory full warning and me removing the battery to reboot the phone. It's never done this previously.
    3. Sometimes after booting up, the phone will be keypad locked, and pressing the unlock button prompts the 'press unlock' message, but does not unlock the phone. This lasts for a few minutes.
    4. If I'm using up all the RAM and receive a call, when I press answer or reject, it prompts the message 'request rejected'. This prevents the call being answered or rejected, and the flashing phone icon remains on the screen indefinitely until a reboot. Besides these there are also times when the phone locks up and requires the battery to be removed. I initially thought this might be due to low RAM availability, but I do not receive alow RAM warning.

to point 4. what applications are you using in the background? eliminate all apps that you do not need/are not currently using. it is worth investing in a best taksman that costs 1.99$ in ovi store or try y browser its free but also a bit more difficult to use it works just fine tho
     http://www.drjukka.com/YBrowser.html
it will help you with how much ram you have what apps are running and other process so you can better manage your phone. its a MUST epsecially for n97 as it has such poor RAM management and amount of it.

  • Problem with Nokia Messaging on my N97 (V22)

Since afew weeks I have a strange problem with Nokia Messaging on my N97.
I receive emails using Nokia Messaging (V10.2.26) with a date shown incorrect as 01.01.0000 and the email then can’t be opened/read.
This happens either on 3G connection as well as WLAN and it seems to be by random, not only HTML-emails or emails with text only.
I have uninstalled Nokia messaging already and reinstalled V10.1.24 but the problem still remains.
Is there any idea how to fix this issue because it is quite annoying and I can’t use the full functionality of my cell phone?

  • GPU Acceleration causes random frame in encode?

New Mac Pro (6 core, d500 cards, 32GB RAM, OSX10.9.4). Adobe Media Encoder CC 2014.0.1. Tested on two separate machines of the same configuration.
I have a just over 2 hour long 1080p ProRes file that I was encoding to MPEG2 for DVD. During QC of the disc, a random frame from another part of the movie was found in a spot about 39 minutes into the encode. The issue was in the encoded MPEG2 stream.
The client also wanted a lower resolution h264 proof of the video, and that was encoded on the same machine at a separate time. That had the same random frame at the exact same spot.
I encoded the preview h264 in just a few minute segment of the video around the glitch on the second Mac Pro. It showed up again. I used the same setting but turned off GPU Acceleration, and the frame is gone.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on here? Obviously there is a problem with GPU acceleration on the new Mac Pro's with Media Encoder, but what could be specifically causing it and what could be done to fix this? With all of the issues in Premiere and After Effects, some of which are being caused by software updates, and the issues with the one Mac Pro needing to be replaced due to bad video cards, I feel like there is just a ton of problems that didn't exist on our outdated Mac Pro with Final Cut Pro 7.
Please let me know of any ideas to make me not doubt every encode I do on these machines with GPU Acceleration turned on. Thanks.
    -Phil

Does anyone have any additional ideas on this? I heard from the CreativeCow forums that this has been a known bug with GPU Acceleration on the new Mac Pros. Is this the case? Has anyone else had this issue looked at by Adobe?

  • Move from client 1.5 to 1.6.0_1 causes random https exception?

    How is everyone doing?
Me? Well, life was good when our clients and server were running java 1.5.X. Now after some of our clients have upgraded to 1.6.0_1, life isn't so good.
I am seeing seemingly random exceptions that appear to be generated down in the guts of the https api layer. I could use your help.
    Please, I appreciate any advice.
    The setup:
    1) Server side: Tomcat 5.5.15 with jdk 1.5.0_09
    2) Tomcat is setup for standard https and http but https is forced. Not using native APR connectors.
    3) Clients are using IE6 and IE7.
    4) Clients login to a web page that starts a fairly large applet running against the java plugin for 1.6.0_01.
    5) POJOs (plain old java objects) are being serialized back and forth. At some random point during the communication an exception occurs (see below). It appears that the session is closed or corrupt at this point.
    6) The above problem happens quicker for some and not at all for others.
    7) No errors show up on the server side that I can find. (catalina.out)
    The problem:
The clients are randomly failing (at least it seems that way) with :

In the clients machine where Java 1.6 was installed, please do following -
    1. Right click 'Start' button and click on 'explore'
    2. In the main menu click 'Tools'->'Folder Options'->'File Types' tab
    3. Under 'Registered file types:' highlight 'JNLP' extension and click on 'Advanced' button
    4. In the 'Edit File Type' window, highlight 'Launch' option and click on 'Edit' and then 'Browse' button
    5. In 'Open with' window select 'javaws.exe' under 'C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_12\bin\' directory and click on 'Open' button.
(Note: Select whichever JRE version you want to use)
    6. Finally, make sure the entry under 'Application used to perform action:' looks like "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_12\bin\javaws.exe" "%1"
    7. Click 'OK' button for all open windows. (For all open windows, click on 'Apply' button first if it is enabled and then 'OK' button.)
    8. Close all browser windows and open again.
Let me know if this works.

  • N97 / N85 - Hard reset - Firmware update Limit ???

    Hi
Was wondering if there Is a max Limit to the numbet of times the Firmware can be updated
or the Phone can be Hard reset
before damageing the MEM Cards built into the N97 / N85

Nowhere its mentioned about the limit for reinstalling firmware updates and doing resets so with that i can say it can be done "many" times, basically its done when you encounter any problem doesn't gets resolved with other resets available, at last we resort to reinstalling firmware or Hard reset. I haven't come across any implications nor heard from anyone doing it often.
FYI N97 has a 32Gb hard drive built-in with an MicroSD slot for expansion.
If a reply has solved your problem click Accept as solution button, doing it will help others know the solution. Thanks.

  • 1.1.* Firmware Causing Crashes?

Hi folks, I get the feeling this may be exclusive to my trouble-prone iPod, but has anyone else found this?
I've been running relatively stably on 1.0.2/1.0.3 for a few months, and took the 1.1 upgrade a few weeks ago. It ran ok for a bit, then froze up on a video podcast. I reset, and then any selection (any press of the centre button) I made caused an immediate reset. I restored to 1.0.2, as I still had a copy of that kicking around, and it was ok.
Yesterday, I saw that 1.1.1 had been released, so put this on, thinking they'd have ironed out the immediate problems. Same thing happened again, so I'm back to trusty 1.0.2, and am staying there for the foreseeable!!
Keen to hear if anyone else has seen this one.

maybe the person who wrote this: http://spr33.co.uk/wp/archives/downgrading-apple-ipod-firmware-102-101
can help you since he knew where to find the 1.0.1 files...

  • What is causing random memory pressure surges?

Running OS X Mavericks on a late 2012 iMac 27' 3.4GHz system with 32GB physical memory, with increasing frequency my system is slowed down to a crawl by random surges in memory useage-- can someone provide me some insight as to the cause?

I'm sorry, I mis-spoke. Launchd is responsible for the largest "ports" count by far (1796-1830). Otherwise, it appears to be some sort of kernel issue at 1.40GB.
Clearly, I'm exposing my own ignorance and will take this question down and call Apple Care Tech Support-- sorry to bother you!

Existing N97 owners will get this update.
As usual the people that may not get or may have to wait ages are those with network branded N97's.  People may need to put pressure on their networks to release it.
