N97 version 2.0 firmware

Will all N97 owners get this or is this for the newer version of the N97? click here

Existing N97 owners will get this update.
As usual the people that may not get or may have to wait ages are those with network branded N97's.  People may need to put pressure on their networks to release it.

• WRT54GS Version 5. Firmware 1.50.9 Apple Computers do not work

Can anyone tell me how to downgrade the firmware in my router. The newest version of the firmware does not work with Apple computers, it works with my windows computers. Apparently this is a known problem with this firmware upgrade.

Unfortunately, the new firmware is only for the WRT54G. You'll find a solution for the WRT54GS here (the short version):
http://forums.linksys.com/linksys/board/message?board.id=Wireless_Routers&message.id=16882#M16882
including a source for firmware version 1.50.8 which is what you need for the WRT54GS
If you want the long version, you'll find it here:

• WRH54G (India) How to Identify Product Version No and FirmWare Number

I purchased WRH54G today and while registeration I saw options where you can download Firware version based on Product Version.
I saw my product, but there is no version information printed (Nor on box nor on instrument).  So I want to ask is there any utility or way to find out product version no and current firmware installed ?
- JIGNESH

Hi acabanave
I purchased the product in India, Mumbai City from a local computer store.
There is no number at the back of the linksys router. So It means Its Version 1.
Also I get the firmware version, it was written in Web Management Tool. The Version no is: Firmware Version: v1.01.04
Question:
1. Is there a next version of Product Version 1
2. Is there a new firmware version then v1.01.04,
3. Do you advice me to upgrade firmware (if new version exists)
Regards

• What is the latest version of ipod firmware?

In 2009 it was version 1.3 (it's the only entry I found and it happens to be my version as well) Now being Dec 2013 I was wondering if there are any updates for such an old ipod video. Obviously if Itunes were installed it would tell me but it isn't and I'll only install it if there is a newer version for it (I use mediaMonkey which does everything except update the firmware.). Thanks

Updates for "regular" iPods (that are not iOS-based iPod touch) are generally just bug fixes.  You should not expect any updates that add new functionality.
Cool no need for itunes any longer than, I guess.
I don't understand...  You still need iTunes to sync the iPod with content, and do maintenance (such as Restore) when needed.  iTunes will continue to support older iPods.  My ancient 3rd gen iPod from 2003 still works with the latest iTunes.

• N97 bugs on v11 firmware

After updating the firmware on my N97, there are bugs both new and old. I wanted to describe them to determine if they are widespread or if it might be an issue with my phone.
1. Landscape mode doesn't work properly. The top section of the screen rarely displays properly and instead usually shows a garbled mixture of the previous screen and the text or symbols from the current screen. This has happened since v10.
2. Yesterday the phone randomly lost all the folders and organisation from the menu. I think it happened after a memory full warning and me removing the battery to reboot the phone. It's never done this previously.
3. Sometimes after booting up, the phone will be keypad locked, and pressing the unlock button prompts the 'press unlock' message, but does not unlock the phone. This lasts for a few minutes.
4. If I'm using up all the RAM and receive a call, when I press answer or reject, it prompts the message 'request rejected'. This prevents the call being answered or rejected, and the flashing phone icon remains on the screen indefinitely until a reboot. Besides these there are also times when the phone locks up and requires the battery to be removed. I initially thought this might be due to low RAM availability, but I do not receive alow RAM warning.

to point 4. what applications are you using in the background? eliminate all apps that you do not need/are not currently using. it is worth investing in a best taksman that costs 1.99$ in ovi store or try y browser its free but also a bit more difficult to use it works just fine tho
     http://www.drjukka.com/YBrowser.html
it will help you with how much ram you have what apps are running and other process so you can better manage your phone. its a MUST epsecially for n97 as it has such poor RAM management and amount of it.

• N97 / N85 - Hard reset - Firmware update Limit ???

Hi
Was wondering if there Is a max Limit to the numbet of times the Firmware can be updated
or the Phone can be Hard reset
before damageing the MEM Cards built into the N97 / N85

Nowhere its mentioned about the limit for reinstalling firmware updates and doing resets so with that i can say it can be done "many" times, basically its done when you encounter any problem doesn't gets resolved with other resets available, at last we resort to reinstalling firmware or Hard reset. I haven't come across any implications nor heard from anyone doing it often.
FYI N97 has a 32Gb hard drive built-in with an MicroSD slot for expansion.
If a reply has solved your problem click Accept as solution button, doing it will help others know the solution. Thanks.

• N97 v22.2.110 firmware causing random "rainbow" re...

My N97 (RM-507) was running so well until this latest OTA firmware update.
Now I keep getting random "rainbow" LED pattern reboots occuring at the rate of about 1-2 per day.
I'm afraid that I'm going to have to "wipe" the phone memory (hard reset) and reinstall all my programs over again (for about the 10th time!).
Gee thanks, Nokia!

Hi, I can only partly agree with this advice, I would hard reset the phone, as it helps, but DON@T BACK UP EVERYTHING, just contacts, calendar and notes. Backing up your settings etc can cause the problem to continue, the current settings are for v21 they may be incompatible with v2.2 so the reset is pointless if your going to restore the phone AND the problem !!
Hard work, but worth the effort of the reset.
Good Luck

• WRVS4400N hardware version 2 different firmware?

Hi,
I'm experiencing problems with this model, if I try to upgrade my router from 1.00.09 to the 1.1.3 that appears in Cisco web. It rejects the firmware claiming that it's wrong file format, I double check the integrity of the file and even upload the exact same file to a WRVS4400N hardware version 1 with no problems. At this point I guess if there's any alternative firmware version not available in any regular channel.
Any help would be more than welcome.
thanks in advance,
- jms

Hi Julio,
The firmware you used will not work with v2 hardware, only v1 & v1.1.  Right now there's no new firmware for v2 posted on Cisco.com.
regards,
Brian

• How do I install older versions of the firmware on...

Hi'
got a new N95 - unpacked it and everything was looking good until I started to play around with all the syncing and updating of the firmware... i.e. ran into the "loosing language" problem that has been described on this page - now I'm stuck with English, Philipino and Malaysian... (and I want my Danish back). Is there anyway of uninstalling firmware updates, going back to the last one ? (i.e. every other device I own, this is the case, but haven't been able to firgure out how with my N95...), or is there anywhere where you can find region specific firmware and get them installed on your phone ? or, is there anywhere that you can find language versions of the T9 i.e. the main problem realy is when you start writing SMS's - and every Danish word have to be spelled out.
thanks, Rasmus

You cannot go back to the older firmware.
To get the launguage back you can take your phone to a nokia care point.Message Edited by noxit on 21-Aug-2007 12:12 PM

• Easy method to downgrade to previous version of the firmware

Hi All,
I was having all sort of problems after upgrading to version 4. I am not comfortable with all the SSH editing but I got help from the WD support team to downgrade with minimal SSH work. It's pretty easy.
Here are the instructions:
Download the following firmware version and unzip the .deb file (File sq-030401-230-20140415.deb.zip)  http://download.wdc.com/nas/sq-030401-230-20140415.deb.zip
Then download Winscp and install it: http://winscp.net/eng/download.php
You need to "turn on SSH" from Settings > Network in Wd My Cloud web interface.
Now run Winscp program you have installed earlier. In the Login window
> select "SFTP" in File protocol dropdown
> Enter your My Cloud IP adress in the host name
> The default usename is root and password is welc0me (its the number 0 in welcome and not letter O)
Once you login you will see 2 panes in the window.
>Go to the right pane and naviagte to the folder "etc".
>Once in the "etc" folder scroll down to the bottom and you will see a file called "version".
>Double click to ope the file and change the version name to 03.04.01-219 and save the file.
Thats all the SSH work. Now close and exit Winscp application.
Reboot My Cloud. (Settings > Utilities > Device Maintenance > Reboot)
After it has rebooted go into settings > firmware and click on "select from file". Naigate to the sq-030401-230-20140415..deb file you have downloaded earlier and update.
DONE. Now you will be running the previous version. Bye Bye buggy frustating version 4.
MKAE SURE TO TURN OFF AUTO UPDATE FIRMWARE.
PS: It worked for me so hopfully it will work for others also. I am a noob, can some experts check it and provide feedback.
Just to let you know  - try it at your own risk. I can't be held responsible if something goes wrong during the process.
[Edit - Bill_S]
Note: Users, please be aware that making changes to your drive through SSH can void your warranty.

What a difference, I just installed the MyCloud a week ago and it updated the 4.xx firmware immediatly so I couldn't see what difference it was with the previous one. Downgraded as per your instructions and the device is A LOT more responsive, faster in access and in it's interface.... Only must find out how to disable the constant database update for pics because I have 2 webcams attached over FTP so the disk is always updating the database but I will find out. The method as described in another posting here didn't work for me but the downgrade is working a lot better so MANY thanks for the help!!! Too bad WD won't admitt something went bad with the 4.xx firmware upgrade since so many users have problems with it.They should replace it immediatly with the old version and call it 5.xx  Regards and thanks again.

• N97 versions, support

Hi,
I've asked a Nokia representative about skype on the USA version of N97 and got this cryptic reply:
There are multiple variants available of the Nokia N97 device and currently not all variants are compatible with Skype. Currently, there is no information regarding updates for the US version of the N97 device.
So, what does she mean? I though that there were just global/american/chinese versions that differ in frequencies for data but not software. If I buy the fully unlocked N97 USA version for $650, will I be able to:
a) run skype? Run skype over 3G?
b) Use it as a tethering device without telling my operator?
I know that the latter is illegal, but I am trying to gauge how open the phone is. The main reason I am opting for N97 over pre, iphone or G1 with much better reviews is that I want to have a device I have a complete freedom over, I want to be able to install any application from anywhere and have essentially a root access to my device without hacks or exploits. Can somebody tell me if the above two work over AT&T or T-mobile?
Thanks,
as

Im currently on tmo and im able to use skype via nimbuzz and fring, as for tethering i'm also able to via bluetooth both on osx 10.5.6, unbuntu 8.10, and windows 7.
I can also comfirm tethering as an accesspoint via joikuspot.
hope this helps confirm your uncertainties

• Will N97 mini get new firmware updates in 2012?

Hi I am nokia fans. Still I am so hope that new update firmware will be release for n97 mini owners. Since 5800 and 5230 get new updates at October 2011. When n97mini will taste new firmware update again?

v30 was released at the end of June 2011. Don't expect another update anytime soon. I went from V12 to V30 and it's a trade-off in features. The new browser is an overall improvement, but the email client no longer gives you the flashing notification option. Free RAM drops 5 MB's on my phone. The Smart Dial and Emoticons are subjective as features. One thing I do like is that the phone stays in portrait view when closing the keyboard.
