  • N97 and N85 Camera mechanism malfunction from magn...

    Hello all,
I'm new here and the reason that registered is to tell to you about thing that i discovered yesterday.
So if you have N97 and use a pouch to carry it on your belt, you may be aware that in case the pouch
closed by the built-in magnets, the magnets will operate the camera mechanism even if the phone is locked.
As soon as i discovered it on my new Nokia N97, i picked up from my memory that my fiernd who owns
the Nokia N85, complaned in the past about unwanted front camera operation. We made the test on the N85
and found the same as on N97 - even when the phone is locked, the front camers starts operation from the
magnets proximity. And its the magnets in the standard cell-phone pouch. I bought my Nokia N97 few days
ago at the Orange provider store together with the pouch. My N97's locker side swich is already doesnt operate
well becase of the magnets of the pouch. Since the pouch was recomened by Orange and sold in the Orange
office, i asked today the Orange to exchange my N97 by new one.
The problem of the sensitivity to the magnets in pouch: the front camera operates and some times even records.
So the battery of the phone and memory are becoming empty much faster than expected.
So take care guys - buy only non-magnetic locking pouch!
    Best regards!

Guys, i've been told by Orange that they will replace my phone since te magnets of the pouch screwed up the sensors...

  • N95 camera problem v21.0.016

Need help!!! After updating my N95 into v21.0.016, the quality of the camera degraded... I don't know if its the flash.... the flash still flashes but seems that it doesn't have any effect in the image.... TO explain further, I'll give an example: Before, when I take a picture on newspapers or books, I can clearly read the letters printed on it, but now, after upgrading, it's blurred, I can't barely read the letters....
The only good side of this upgrade is that the battery life increases... But still, it really sucks... I want my original camera quality back...

try updating again....im guessing u did a data restore?
instead of doing a data restore try dragging all ur data onto ur desktop and use the same method to replace the data to ur phone......rather than doing a backup
also try to reformat your memory card(this will delete all your data) so make sure u save everything u want via a drag and drop to desktop method
after uve saved everything reinstall the fw
    hope this works

has anyone else had this problem? if so how did it get resolved?
    regards

I think you need to take your phone to a Nokia Service Centre for repair.

  • Question about N95 Camera

    Hi,
Can anybody help me on this, please :
When I turn on camera and take photo, autofocus start with white light (flash light) and when I Start recording in video mode flash light go in red color. Is it true?
My digital camera (sony) autofocus has red color and flash has white color, so why N95 autofocus is in white color? and what is the red color in video recording?

  • N95 Camera not loading!!

Hello forum!! I have a new N95 (3 weeks old). My camera does not load when i open the lens. I have the option to bring the phone back for a replacement but thought i would try this forum for advice while i wait. I haven't tried anything yet. I backed everything up to my PC. Is it a software issue? I am on Orange network. Thanx, Ifor.

I'd try a factory reset before I tried a firmware upgrade, however I'd be surprised if it actually is a software issue.
I think you're going to have to take the phone back to wherever you got it and have them replace it - they ought to do that if it's brand new. If it's not brand new, then I'm afraid you'll have to take it to a service centre

  • N95 Camera

This is my second N95 in about 4 months and things are a little different on new 1! Basically first one jus froze and screen went black and seemed to stay black even though the phone was on.
My question is about my new N95 when using the camera i take a photo and it says: -
    upload to album
    Blog
    Send to a friend
My old 1 did this and i always just press cancel (which i can just about live with!) but then when i cancel i get this message :-
    Photography
Your picture has been saved to your phone.......
only option to do is select ok
I never had this on my previous phone does anyone know how i can get rid of these messages if at all?

i believe this has to do with an application that your network has placed into your phone(or an application you installed)
usually shouza(a photo blogging app) does this....
try looking around your phone menu a good start would be my applications menu if you see phtography or anything of the sort try to delete it it may solve your prob....
    what network are you on?

  • N85 warranty and Camera shutter key problem

    Hi,
I have had an N85 for around a year now, and I have had some problems with the phone. The phone has been cared for well, and now the shutter button on the camera has broken. I took it to my local repair centre, and was told that it wasnt covered by the warranty, as it was a "physical problem." I didn't have time to argue the problem, so took my phone back and left.
Was the sales rep correct? I fail to see how it should be anything other than a problem that comes under the warranty. Would I have more luck sending it off to nokia?
    Thanks
    Rob

If it broke and you weren't misusing it, then it should be covered by the warranty. However it's Nokia's warranty so it's pretty much up to them to decide whether they think it was damaged by you or broke on its own. I think that Nokia's central repair place isn't much more generous than the care points.
If you're in the UK, the retailer or phone provider you got it from has an obligation to make sure it's fit for purpose and reasonably durable. Unfortunately as it's over six months old you're still stuck trying to show that you didn't cause the fault, with an engineer's report or something similar. However it doesn't hurt to ask and they might go ahead and do the repair out of courtesy/loyalty. That was my experience with T-Mobile at any rate.
If it doesn't work out, I think something like £30 would be pretty typical for that kind of issue. Depending on how committed you are to the phone, it might be worth it.
Help I'm trapped in a sig factory.

Ok grschinon if i want to take a good picture, what things to keep in mind
Errm.. OK. Thing is, I'm not a photographer either but I do know more or less how to use a digital camera. I also worked for 5 years in a professional photographic lab so I guess that helps a little.
The biggest problem with photos is the lighting and sometimes misuse of the flash.
If you're photographing someone's portrait but there's a window behind them, then all you're going to see is a lovely photo of the window with a person-shaped black splodge in the middle of it. Why? Because the camera accounts for the bright light of the window, considers that the global scene is bright and consequently lowers exposure, thus blacking out the actual subject of the photo. Solution? Photograph the person elsewhere or, if that's not possible, force the flash to go off. This will have the effect of lighting the subject and balancing out the brightness level in the composition.
Conversely, if you're outside, for example, and the lighting isn't too good, only use the flash as a last resort. Why? Because it isn't powerful enough to illuminate your whole back yard, the camera knows it let off the flash and compensates for it, and you end up with a black photo with a few red eyes dotted around it. Solution? Turn the flash off altogether, set the camera to night mode and, optionally, adjust the exposure manually up an f-stop or two (yes, you can do this on the N95's camera).
Avoid using the flash on close-ups and prefer natural light. Why? Because the flash light is too intense and it'll drown out any detail of the subject of the photo, particularly if its surface is reflective.
Also bear in mind that you can adjust the sensitivity of the camera, just like you'd put 50 or 100 ISO or 1600 ISO film in a traditional camera. Lower sensitivity means it can deal with much more light coming in, so it's great for sunny scenes out side, while higher sensitivity means that it knows it has to work with less light so it's suited ideally to evenings and indoor shots in poor lighting conditions. High sensitivity is also good for taking blur-free shots of objects in motion in good lighting conditions because the camera, which is extremely sensitive on this setting, compensates for the large amounts of light by shortening the exposure time.
Colour balance is another problem. You may not know it because your brain compensates for it automatically, but neon lighting is green and regular incandescent light is yellow. This affects the colour of objects photographed quite dramatically to the point where you can even buy special reversal film from professionnal labs that has a blue mask on it to compensate for the yellowness of a tungsten flash. One of the functions of a digital camera is the "white balance" function whereby you point the camera at an object which is white even if the lighting makes it look different, and the camera then adjusts the photos taken according to what the white object actually looked like.
Those are the main points I can think of right now. Others should feel free to add to this thread if they have more suggestions.

  • N95 camera light staying on!!

Not sure if Im in the correct section for this post? anyway..
I got a N95 8GB and up until about 2 hours ago no probs with it!!
Pulled the phone out of my pocket and the camera light on the back was lit up, never seen this before!!
Slid the phone open and screen was black but the buttons were lit up, so phone was still on.
Turned phone on and off about 3 times and screen came back to normal but camera light still on.
Phone works fine apart from I cannot turn this camera light off, as soon as I put the battery in the phone the light turns on!!!!
Any ideas what this can be?

I've had my N78 for 3 months and it just started the light-stuck-on thing. I'm sure this is going to run the battery down fast. I wonder if it happened because the phone was bumped against something when it was in my pocket? It looks like it would be really hard to take this phone apart. This is going to drain the battery fast, I'm sure. I hope someone can share some info on how to solve this problem.

  • N95 Camera Flash makes for terrible night photos

    Hi all,
Ever since i got my N95 8 months ago, it's taken absolutely terrible night photos as the flash always causes an unsightly white glow from the right side of the picture when it goes off. I've played with all the settings and nothing seems to help.
Anyone else had this problem or am i just doing it wrong? Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The flash on the vast majority of point and shoot cameras (dedicated or phone) is pretty much useless. If you get close enough, everything is washed out, farther away it does nothing. I've had very good results simply turning it off and turning on a few more lights when I can. Even in low light, I find I get better pictures without the flash. For photos that were too dark, I've had a great deal of success post processing with Camera+.
The iPhone 5 has a very good camera for a phone but it's still not my Nikon DSLR and never will be. However, since I've learned to work within it's limitations, I've taken some great pictures.
    Best of luck.

  • Camera comparison

    Hi!  : )
Can someone please tell me which Point and Shoot camera is better?  The Cannon SD1400 or the Sony W370.  It is a gift and I want to make sure that it is of decent quality.  Thank you!  : )

Nope they use an sdhc in that model. I'd take the extra zoom on the sony the bigger screen and quite a few other better specs. Take a look at the side by side comparison: Comparison

  • N95 Camera Stopped Working

    Hi,
My camera has stopped working on my phone.
When I press the capture button it goes green for
autofocus, but just makes a click and doesn't take
    a picture.
The video function works, and the secondary camera works,
but my main camera just won't take pictures.
Anyone else experienced this or got any idea?
    Many Thanks.
    Andy

That is almost certainly a hardware problem
I'm afraid you need to take the phone to a service centre where they're probably going to have to send it away for repair which could mean 2 or more weeks without your N95

  • Camera Comparison with iphone 4

is the iphone 4 g camera better than the ipod touch 4 g camera??? or have i got an inferior product with my ipod touch??

The iPhone 4 has a 5 MP, focusing, back camera with flash. The 4G iPod has on a 0.7 MP, fixed focus back camera.  The 4G iPod camera is not at all as good as the iPhone 4s, especially with less than optimum lightnng.
