N97 Won't connect to Wlan

Hi, I've had a problem with my wlan yesterday, so I kept trying to connect and reconnect to it from my N97 and I deleted it from Destinations. anyway today the problem is solved from the pc end, the N97 does find it but when I select "connect" or "start browsing" nothing happens I just click and click and nothing happens! it also won't get added to my destinations, I find it but can not interact with it at all. I tried adding in through the new destinations option but it doesnt happen and it just gets stuck in the destinations screen after selecting it. the N97 does find other networks and tries to connect to them normally, but not to mine! I turn the N97 off and on but same problem. I tried my N95 and it did find it,connect and browse normally without a problem. is there a way to refresh the entire wlan data on the N97? I don't want to do soft reset as I'm afraid of what will happen. any suggestions are highly appreciated, thanks!

Hi, try setting phone to offline, remove all your destinations. Remove  sim and battery for 5 minutes. Re-boot, without sim and scan for wlan, try connect, then turn off phone again and inset sim and re-boot again, see how it goes !
Good Luck

  • N97 - Won't connect too Ovi software

    Hi all
Just received my N97 today, but im having issues connecting to Ovi Suite 1.1.
So im loading up the software, connecting supplied USB and selecting PC Suite connection type on phone. Then the following messag comes up.
"Data cable connection mode not compatible
Nokia N97 has been connected in a data cable connection mode which is not compatible with Ovi Suite.
Do you want to change the connection mode of the Nokia N97 now?"
So i click change and nothing happens and phone still isnt connected.
Can anyone shed some light on this issue and point me in the right direction?
    Thanks in advance
    Adam

-- Um no. No, it won't. Have you read this thread at all? See, the problem we have is that OVI Suite AND PC Suite won''t pick up the device in PC Suite Mode.
"If you have already installed the Ovi Suite, then head to System Properties->Hardware->Device Manager. Uninstall any existing drivers for the phone and re-connect the phone again."
-- Done. More than a couple of times. In different combinations. Device Manager has gone through the MTP device, Unknown device, N7 at least 10 times this weekend. I've uninstalled the Connectivity Solution and Cable Drivers numerous times as well, and installed both PC Suite and OVI Suite in different sequencies to try and prevent Vista loading drivers before Nokia does. It all doesn't work, trust me I've beaten this dog to death.
"The solution is simple enough. Uninstall the device from device manager of windows and plug it back in as described above."
-- Again, Done. More than a couple of times. I'm frustrated beyond caring now.
Seriously people, its just not worth the effort. I need new firmware for this phone to be worth anything - but Nokia make doing that practically impossible. Good luck.
Yeah, I had that same problem with the phone at the time when it was using v10. Now v12 is out it creates no problem what so ever.
Tip :- Try connecting the phone in other modes. Mass Memory. Try another PC for a change. I never could get my Vista Laptop to recognise the phone initially. But the old desktop running XP was able to do the trick.
Also, there is a "Phone Memory" Update available OTA for the phone. Try installing that. I'd recommend that you get the firmware updated ASAP. If the phone shows USB sign after connecting to the PC in PC Suite Mode, it is good enough for NSU to detect it and go ahead with the upgrade. As far as backup is concerned, N97 comes with UDP(User Data Protection) so you will find all your data and setting as it is after the upgrade.
    Good Luck !

  • N97 won't connect after updating OVI Suite to 2.2....

I just update Ovi Suite to 2.2.1.23. After a reboot of windows (vista) Ovi Suite starts, but when I connect my N97 with USB cable, Ovi suite seems not to recognize my phone. The connection with my computer is OK., I can browse my N97.
Even when I try to find a new phone, Ovi suite doesn't see my N97.
Everything worked a hour ago, before upgrading....

    I found this:

After removing all nokia software, I installed the mentioned beta software updater and nokia ovi suite again. ...
and now my N97 is connected again and I can synchronise with ovi suite....

    Hi,
I just had huge problems in having my N97 updated. Nor Ovi Suite, nor PC Suite (after complete de-install and re-install as described in a message above), nor having installed Nokia Software Updater seperate was able to do it. Each time it halted stating that it was not able to find my device on the usb-cable while the suite itself was perfectly able to see it.
Still, I managed to have it updated through a beta software updater. I can only hope it will work for you guys too, here's the link:

Good luck to all of you !
P.S.: make sure you attach your device to an USB-port directly on your MB !

Hi thanks I tried that. Reinstalled twice and loaded Nokia suite all saying same thing. I'm thinking it's something to do with the laptop not recognising the usb or something. It's irritating as only got it to go on the net with my mobile

Same To me. I have Asus WL-500W router at home, WPA2-PSK(AES), password similar to this "lIGf@91pY0TnFY!Jh@7LjTUlsL3ZPY", MAC address filtering. My old Nokia E51 works, my Touch Pro Works with it. When i try my one day old Nokia E72 it does not work, the same like others:WLAN: Unable to connect. Wlan Network not Found. E72 works at my work wifi, which has the same settings but without mac filtering. Have no idea what is happening, all is setting correctly. MAC address of E72 is allowed on router. It has the same settings like E51, but E51 works like a charm E72 does not work. What is wrong?
As already suggested, you could try disabling the MAC filtering from the router, just to outrule possibility of a typo while entering E72's MAC address to router settings.
Have you tried swithing a WLAN channel that your router uses?
Log in to your router's web management pages (check router's default IP address and username/password from it's manual) and switch of the "Automatic" channel selection mode. Try few different channels, like 1, 3, 6, 9, 11, if one of the channels happens to work any better. Note that in case you have set your router to use channels 12 or 13 (or in case "Automatic" channel selection mode has decided to select channel 12 or 13) you must have a SIM card inserted and some other than "Offline" profile enabled on your phone since Offline mode (i.e. airplane / flight mode) won't allow your phone to operate on higher channels than 11.
In case you have configured your WLAN network (SSID) to be "hidden", try disabling hidden SSID mode on the router.
Asus WL-500W router seems to be a pre-standard 802.11n device so might be worth looking in to your router's WLAN settings and see if playing around with router's WLAN operating mode and settings improve the situation. First of all ensure that your router is not set to operate in 20/40MHz mode (set it to 20MHz only) assuming that the router is in default 802.11b/g/n mode. You could also try disabling the 802.11n mode completely by selecting a 802.11b/g mode (if available).
You should probably also check that you're running latest (2.0.0.6 ??) firmware version on your Asus WL-500W router since there seems to plenty of complaints regarding WLAN connectivity and stability issues (in general, not specific to Nokia handsets) with this particular router model.

  • Can't connect to wlan

    Hi everybody,
for some reason my MacPro won't connect to my home network, a dsl wlan. I have 2 iPhones in there, one AppleTV, my MacbookPro, my wife's MBP, an AirPortExtreme and an AirportExpress, all doing fine (exept my wife's MBP wich gets kicked out of the network constantly, but disabling and reenabling wifi solves the problem.).
So the network is ok. My MacPro connects to my MBP with direct c2c-network, and it connects to my iPhone via personal hotspot. So the MacPros wifi works fine as well.
Only I can't get it to connect to my wlan. We changed provider a while ago, 2 months approx., at the beginning it worked, not well, got kicked out all the time, but ist worked. Now it tells me something like (I have to translate, so never mind the exact wording in english) "can't connect because of timed out". Something of the kind.
Now I tried to erase the keychain for the wlan-password, didn't change a thing.
I took out one of the devices of the network, the airport express, didn't change either.
I saw though that my MacPro does not have an IP address. I don't know how I can tell it to have one... this might be the problem's solution.
Anyone an idea? Anyone who had this problem before? With the old provider (and wlan router) everything was ok.
The router is a fritz box, the provider is m-net.de
I'm desperate... thanks for your help, and best regards from the home of the Oktoberfest - Munich.
    f

I can't see any. I just compared with my MacBook, where it shows, but on my MacPro there is none. No IP, no IPv4 or IPv6. Strange.
Since I'm in this home network, I suppose the addresses are assigned by the router, could this be right? Only on the router's software interface - which I access via browser and my MacBook, there is no possibility to activate a new device or anything of the kind.

  • RE1000 Will Not Connect to WLAN after firmware upgrade

I upgraded the firmware on my RE1000 to v1.0.02 a few days ago; now, the RE1000 will not connect to my WLAN.  The automatic CD program is useless; it won't see my WLAN.  Manual configuration goes slightly better, but still no luck.  If I try to connect via Wireless --> Site Survey, it sees the SSID (and a few others in range) and says it's connecting, but when I go to Status --> WLAN Statistics the status of the link is shown as down (router also confirms no DHCP lease given out).  When I try to configure the connection manually via Wireless --> Basic Wireless Settings, same results -- link down.
I've tried configuring a static IP (vice DHCP) but no change in result.  One odd thing I've noticed is that in the WLAN Statistics page, "Wi-Fi Protected Setup" is still showing as "On" despite it being set to off.  Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but either way this is getting wretchedly annoying...

I am trying to set up a LInksys RE-1000 for a user who has a working Linksys WRT-54G wireless router which is working perfectly fine both wirelessly and wired. This RE-1000 product was purchased after checking the RE-1000 owner's manual PDF download which confirms it is supposed to work with Wireless-N, G and B though with slower speeds with G and B.
However, the RE-1000 does not connect to the WRT-54G at all using manual configuration with a network cable connected to the RE-1000. After entering all the correct parameters under the WIRELESS - BASIC WIRELESS SETTINGS page that matches the WRT-54G wireless security settings fully, the RE-1000's STATUS - WLAN STATISTICS page simply continues to show that the RE-1000 is "CONNECTING..." but never goes to CONNECTED status. Checking the RE-1000's STATUS - DEVICE INFO page shows that IP address, subnet mask and default gateway are all 0.0.0.0, which seems to confirm there is no successful connection between the RE-1000 and the WRT-54G via wireless-G band.
The firmware on the RE-1000 is already 1.0.02 from factory. Calling Linksys phone support was useless because the phone agent in the Philippines simply gave pre-scripted generic suggestions such as upgrading the firmware on the RE-1000 and the WRT-54G, when the WRT-54G's firmware was already updated to the latest available version.
Can anyone from confirm whether the RE-1000 is capable of connecting to the WRT-54G wirelessly? Or does the RE-1000 require specific wireless routers to connect successfully with? I did not notice that the product / system requirements stated anything about this.
My experience so far with the RE-1000 wireless extender product has been unsatisfactory so far and I am an advanced user with the Linksys router.

  • My HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 won't connect to my wireless router

This is bizarre.  I have had my HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 for about 6 months.  It has generally worked fine, and we have used it wirelessly only.  But now it refuses to connect to the router.  It can FIND the router, and it can find other networks in the area, but it won't connect to the router.  I ran the Wireless Network Test, and the results say:
Wireless On - Pass // Wireless Working - Pass //
Network Name (SSID) found - Pass //  Wireless Networks Detected - 9
Printer Settings Consistent with Wireless Router Settings - Pass / No Filtering - FAIL //
So it recommends solution as follows: "1 If MAC Address filtering is enabled, and you would like to keep it enabled, you must add the Mac address of your printer to the list of permitted devices for your router before continuing."
Except, guess what, I don't have MAC Address filtering enabled.  I wouldn't know how to do that, much less check for it.
Also, before today, this was never a problem.  HELP!
    Thanks....
If you are interested, here's more detail and background.
Before today, the only problem we have had is that frequently our Apple laptop (OS X 10.6) has trouble connecting to the printer.  This has been odd because the printer is connected to the network, and so is the laptop, but the laptop can't find the printer - it thinks the printer is "offline" (even though it's not).  Usually, if I wait a while, it will find the printer, and it will resolve itself work fine.  If not, we sometimes have found that it can fix itself if you restart the laptop -- restarting the printer does not make a difference.   In fact, I did exactly that today, and it resolved itself.  And I printed.  Fine, right?
But then I wanted to do more printing, and the problem of the laptop not finding the printer came up again, so I decided to really "get to the bottom of this."  I don't remember exactly what I did, but somehow I was persuaded by the online help, that the correct solution would be to go into my System Preferences / Print and Fax, and click on the "-", which de-installs the printer, with the idea of re-installing the printer.  But then when I tried to re-install the printer, it could not find the printer.  Ugh!  Wierdly, it found an 8600 Scanner, but not an 8600 printers.  After installing and de-installing the 8600 scanner a few times, I eventually deinstalled everything, and I decided to start from scratch.  I got my HP disk, and installed all the software again from the beginning (even though it was already there), and then it looked for my printer, but couldn't find it.  So then I got a USB cord, and plugged that in.
So, now I have a situation where I do have a working printer via the USB cord, but no wireless connection at all.  In particular, since the Office Jet Pro 8600 won't connect to the router, I don't know what else to do.  My Apple MacBook pro is 2 feet away from the printer, and it is connected to the router just fine (as is my blackberry), and I have never before had a problem connecting to the wireless router by the printer.
    Any suggestions?

There are two things that can trip the mac filtering test to fail:  actual MAC address filtering setup (sounds like this is not the case) and using wireless channel 6 or automatic for wireless channel in the wireless network settings (in the router).  Since it does show failed for MAC filtering and you do not use this option, try changing the wireless channel in the router to 1 or 11.  Those two channels provide the best compatibility with printers due to less interference.  Almost everything defaults to auto or 6 for the channel and this causes a lot of interference.  This change should not affect anything at all.  To do this, you may need to contact the router manufacturer as the process differs from router to router.
What brand and model is the router?
Has anything in the network settings changed at all?
What version is the Mac OS X?  There may be additional steps to take as it sounds like there are two separate issues involved and this could be revisited later.

    HI,
The Apple IDs from @mac.com and @me.com (Older MobileMe and more recent iCloud Names) are also Valid AIM Screen names.
Any other sort of Apple ID is not a Valid AIM Name.
A Google ID that is associated with Google Mail Account (And has "Talk" enable on your Google Settings) can be used in iChat as  Jabber Name/ID.  (Google Run  Jabber server).
Jabber and AIM are different IM Services and it is not easy or straight forward to add Buddies from one Service to the Buddy List of another.  (As A Starting point consider it "impossible")
iChat 4 and 5 have links to the registration page of @Mac.com here with a "Get an iChat Account" button in the add (Account) screen  (You select @mac.com or MobileMe and then press the Button - Choosing AIM and then pressing the button used to lead to the AIM registration page but AIM moved their page).
Apple IDs can be any valid email (or an @mac.com or iCloud registration)
Therefore you could make a Google ID into an Apple ID.
However this will not be a valid AIM Screen Name the way @mac.com or MobileMe/iCloud ones are.

  • HP 6520 wifi won't connect

Just took a 6520 out of the box, trying to set it up/print to it from a windows 8.1 computer, after returning a 4620 printer that had the same problem.
Ran the setup software. Setup software can't even manage to figure out what wireless network the computer it's running on is connected to - useless.
Printer can find the wireless network, and when using the wrong password, won't connect, citing wrong password.
When I use the right password, it just fails to connect.
I've rebooted my router, rebooted my computer, rebooted the printer. No good. Print doctor software is useless as it can't even find the printer.
I've turned off MAC filtering on my router, and disabled Windows Firewall. Nothing.
I have an epson printer that has no problem connecting, and every other wifi capable device I own can connect to my wifi with no problem, from both Android and apple phones to tablets to four different PCs and laptops to my freaking nest thermostat. Why can't my printer manage to just work over wifi?
I do not have a USB cable for the printer (it wasn't sold with one), btw, so trying that is out (besides, I bought this as a wireless printer, not a wired printer).
    Help please.

    Hi MattMihaly,
    Welcome to the HP forums!
I see you have a Photosmart 6520 and a Windows 8.1 computer that don't seem to want to talk to one another. I'm sorry to hear this, but I will certainly do my best to help!
I would suggest you start by following the steps for Windows 8 in this 'Unable to Find Printer' Error Message Displays on the Computer During a Wireless Network Installati... document (make sure to follow the Option two: Connect with the Wireless Setup Wizard under Step five). If that doesn't resolve it, please try the steps under Your printer has never worked over the network in the HP Wireless printing center.
I realize you may have tried some of these steps, perhaps all of them, before but often trying them in a specific order is what makes the difference
