N97 won't use WLAN internet automatically

Hi,
I configure 1 WLAN access point at home and another WLAN access at office , but when I am in office, Nokia N97 keep trying to connect the access point at home instead of using office WLAN.
Is that the default behaviour of Nokia N97?

Hi - Did either of you manage get a resolution to this problem? I have exactly the same issue with 'Accuweather', when I'm at home it still tries to connect to the office WLAN even though it recognises the home WLAN (and will use it for web browsing). I'm on the latest (rel 21.xx) firmware version, but beginning to get very frustrated with this phone (or should I say the Nokia software)! Some things have improved over the last 9 months (like kinetic screen scrolling and the maps application) but some of the basic features of the software are quite dreadful .. and seem to be getting worse rather than better..

In connectivity settings in destinations set your wifi to priority 1 , also in application manager,installed apps , if you tap an application and reject options - suite settings (if it has suite settings ,not all do) you can set a default access point . Also in connectivity you can set phone to ' Always Ask ' before connecting to the internet !

Access Connection - detect WLAN encryption automatically?

I have a problem with Access Connection: When I want to connect to an encrpted WLAN Access Connection says, "Unable to connect to the selected wireless network. You may need to configure your system to support the authentication method that is in use. Do you want to configure now?". If I click "no" nothing happens and I am not connected. If I click "Yes" the Access Connection profile Editor shows up and asks me to select the proper encryption (WEP/WPA/WPA2 etc). That's not really very comfortable. Other tools (like the build-in Windows WLAN-Manager) can detect the right settings for the encryption automatically and just promt for the key.
Why is Access Connection not able to detect the used WLAN-ecryption automatically and has to be configured by hand? is it supposed to be like that or am I doing something wrong?

Access Connections will normally attempt to connect to the last successfully connected profile (particularly if suspending or hibernating between locations). If that fails, it will scan the local SSIDs and see if one matches your list of profiles (so hidden SSIDs can slow this down some). It will then attempt to connect using the profiles it has based on the order in Location Switching.
So be sure that Location Switching is enabled and order your profiles (or even uncheck ones that aren't commonly used) to match where your are most often connecting wirelessly.
So basically, let Access Connections try and connect on it's own. If the pop-up connection window is annoying you, you can disable it under Global Settings and Notifications tab, uncheck the last box.

E72 - WLAN AP automatically added under Internet d...

Hi Folks
My E72 (091.004) always got one WLAN AP automatically cloned from destionation "Intranet" into "Internet". No idea why this could happen.
Here is the background.
I got two WLAN connections at home, hence two WLAN APs, say A and B, have been created in the "Intranet" destination of the E72, accordingly. I only prefer using A to access the Internet, therefore I have copied A into the default "Internet" destination and named it C.
Under the "Internet" destination, as usual, there are a few packet data APs there. I got two named 2G and 3G, respectively.
Therefore, I should have three APs under the "Internet" destination, ordered by priority:
1. C
2. 3G
3. 2G
BUT, after using the phone for a few days, B mysteriously listed after C in the "Internet" destination:
1. C
2. B
3. 3G
4. 2G
I do promptly delete B from the "Internet" destination, but after a few days the E72 does automatically add it back in the list, at the same location (priority).
An interesting observation is if I change the priority by putting a packet data AP at the first, B will no longer be automaticallyed added. I of course can't always use 3G or 2G as the preferred connection.
The other interesting thing is, the automatically cloned AP has the exact same name of the source AP: B. Normally a cloned AP should not have the same name as the original because all AP names must be unique among all destinations (per my understanding).
Any clues about why this could happen and how to fix it please?

Connecting TC to Wireless Internet source(no ethernet ports) to create another WLAN to use that internet.

I have a Telstra Turbo Elite wireless mobile boroadband device (see link) this device has no ethernet ports, it only connects to a mobile BB signal and then provides a WLAN that you can access wirelesly.
I want to connect my TC to this device wirlessly and then create a separate WLAN network that my household devices can connect to and use the internet connection provided by the Telstra device. So that I can use the TC to store my digital media and backup my laptop aswell.
How do I do this?
I tried turning the TC into a WLAN bridge but then i could not access the 2TB HDD in it and thus could not use Time Machine either.

Unfortunately, this is not possible.
The TC needs a wired Ethernet connection at its WAN port to be able to create a wireless network.
The only way that this might work would be to add a wireless to Ethernet bridge, then feed that signal to the WAN port on the TC.

I think you solved my problem! Upon following your advice, I first got a message that I had not allowed a connection to the Tax dept computers, which would prevent the file I need to fill out from being e-filed. I proceeded to then open the file at the top of which was a security banner at which I chose the site as safe. I then filled in the first line of the form which autofilled other lines telling me I was connected with the tax site. In a few days when I have the data I need, I will actually attempt to file the return. If there is a problem, I will send another message. Thanks so much for your assistance!

It sounds like you are using an unsupported App like "Jailbreak" which technically voids the warranty on your iPhone. Your call on that.
If so, the app creates an "ad hoc" wireless network which the Airport Express cannot join or participate in. So, you cannot use both the AirPort Express and the "modem" function of your iPhone at the same time.
You should be able to turn the app off and log off the internet, and then setup another separate wireless network to run AirTunes, or AirPlay. But, you'll have to "switch" wireless networks to be able to do this and the network will of course not have access to the Internet.

Does the iPod connect to other networks?
Does the iPod see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iPod connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Mac Mini won't connect to internet using Apple products (Safari, iTunes, AppStore). Date and time are frozen to the moment CPU is booted up. Firefox works. Cannot update.

For the past few days my Mac Mini has been having issues.

Let me ask for some better help for you that is familiar with this problem (if in fact it is a similar problem with the IP address and your ISP.

Anyways I will see if I can call on some better help for you. Hang in there. Best to arm yourself with enough info before contacting Comcast so they might know what you are dealing with fully.

edit: I have posted for some extra help for you that may have a better idea of what's going on if it is your ISP and their modem and how it handles the IP address causing Safari and iTunes not to connect. Hang in there it may take awhile but I'm sure someone will pop in to help.
