NAC : CAM control over switch using SNMP
Hi
I have CAM , CAS in Central, OOB,Virtual,Layer2 lab
I can see on CAM the access switch ports status which means that SNMP works but when a user is logged on the access switch , the user vlan is not inforced to be changed to Auth vlan
and he remains in the trusted vlan which is already configured on the acces switch
I can change in configuration on the switch through CAM but the CAM itself cant change Vlan
thanks to advise me what part i am missing
thanks
in the CAM, when you see the access switch ports status, click on the magnifying glass icon next to a port which is up and see if it's detecting the MAC address of the device which is connected to that port. If it is not it means that SNMP mac-notification is not configured properly. If CAM doesn't detect the MAC address of the device, it wont change the switchport vlan...

Set IP address of L3 switch using SNMP
HI,
I am using cisco catalust 3560-x series swtiches. And I am new to SNMP. I want to assign IP address to interfaces of this switch, using SNMP. Kindly help me. Any help, any sugession, is most welcome.
Thanks in advance
Jeni Ahi,
Thanks for your response.
Our requirement is as follows.
I want to assign IP address to Switch fro my Java Application. I have implemented a Telnet Client Code in Java, by which i can configure IP address in switch from my java application.
But my boss said, Telnet is not secure and try using SNMP to do the same.
When I was searching in Internet, I got this page https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12090896/snmp-how-get-list-ip-addresses-and-corresponding-interface-names
The above thread gives object ID to GET IP address of Switch interface. This Object is Read-only.
In the similar way, is there any object, using which I can SET / assign IP address to switch interfaces.
waiting for your response.
Thanks in advance :) -
Collecting information from Cisco switchs using SNMP
Dear All,
I have a wide network with more than 250 sites connected using the DSL. the WAN devices are under the provider responsability and the LAN devices are directly in my responsability. In each site, I have :
1 or 2 Cisco switchs (2960 or 3560), connecting via fibr.
or
Linksys switch connected via ethernet cable
and
cisco 877 router connected to switch
cisco 881G router conected to switch
pc and printers
In order to improve the availibilty of our network, we lauch every day a script from local pc to test connectivity of LAN equipements :
ping to switchs (Vlan 1), ping to ip fa0/0 cisco router1, ip cisco router2, ping to HSRP address (of two router). the resulting ini file will be inserted in a database and exported to excel for analysing.
I'm asking if someone can help in order to implement SNMP and let me know the name of cisco MIB to implement to :
- to have from SNMP information, the result of show cdp nei, show interface status, show ip int brief,...
- to have if wan router LAN interface are up,connected
- others usefuls informations.
Thanks and regards,
AAHi,
the basic SNMP config for 2960 and 3560 is:
snmp-server community <> RO
The configuration for SNMP traps to get alerts from the device if there is for example a failure with a fan is:
snmp-server enable traps
snmp-server host <> <>
This enables all traps available with your IOS version. You can the disable not wanted traps by using the "no"-command like this.
Example for dot1x traps:
no snmp-server enable traps dot1x
With a snmp client you can then do a snmpwalk (or snmp get) without a specific OID to get all the SNMP information from the device:
On a Linux server the following command should work:
snmpwalk -v 2c -c <> -T <>
-v = use SNMP version 2c
-c = use the community string you configured on the device
-T = output in the dotted decimal format
But be careful, this will be a lot of data output.
Here you will find a docu for configuring SNMP on a Cisco device:

Did anyone try to control NAC (high speed camera) GX-1 or GX-3 or GX-8 using Labview by accessing the registered dlls provided by NAC Image Technology?
Sincerely,
VirginiaI haven't specifically worked with NAC dlls, but if you were looking for information on how to call dlls from LabVIEW, the following article may help: http://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-9076
There is also a good example on how to pass various datatypes from LabVIEW, which you can find in the example finder called Call DLL.vi
As for details on how to use the particular functions in those dlls, perhaps some other users have done this.
Is there a particular reason why you aren't using Vision Acquisition Software? Do you have an NI framegrabber?

Controlling NI2568 Switches using VB6 and DAQmx
Can the NI-2568 (and similar) switches be controlled using VB6 and DAQmx?
I got the impression from the "NI-DAQmx C API VIsual Basic 6.0" Help, that by using the "Digital Output API ", it could be done very similarly to opening/closing a discrete , but no samples were included.
I just need to close a few relays and don't know if I have to install the "NI-Switch" software or not.
If it can be done, what would be the channel string to pass to the DAQmxCreateDOChan dll function
(in place of "Dev<x>/Port<y>/Line<z>"). MAX shows my (simulated-don't have the hardware yet) switch device to be "PXI1Slot3" .
Thanks,
JonHi Jon,
You can also use NI-DAQmx Switch functions to control PXI-2568 rather using NI-SWITCH (NI-SWITCH installs ready-made VB examples)
You can use functions such as
DAQmxSwitchSetTopologyAndReset, DAQmxSwitchCloseRelays, DAQmxSwitchOpenRelays to control individual relays in PXI-2568. ANSI C Examples for DAQmx switches can be found at C:\Program Files\National Instruments\NI-DAQ\Examples\DAQmx ANSI C\Switches. This can be used to write VB 6 code. Refer to using "C Examples to create VB 6.0 Applications" in C:\Program Files\National Instruments\NI-DAQ\Docs\cvb60daqmx.chm for help on converting C examples to VB 6.0.

Intermittent Voice Control Over Bluetooth
I'm finding that voice control over Bluetooth using my Plantronics 510 headset regularly stops working, while other Bluetooth functions remain active.
Normally, holding the button on the headset down will activate Voice Control. I can hear the "listening" tone, and the phone responds to my command (e.g. "Call Telecon One Work").
On several occasions, I've found that holding the button fails to activate Voice Command, but other BT functions controlled by the headset button still work - a double press, for example, still redials the last number. After rebooting the phone, voice command is once again available by pushing the headset button.
OT - At some point, it would be nice if iPhone OS 3.1 was added to the list of OS choices in the pulldown menu for discussion posts.I'm having the same problem. For me, the problem only starts after I plug in the iPhone to charge (while connected to the bluetooth).
Is that the same for you? -
How to read MAC from Catalyst WS-C4507R using SNMP

I used to work with the following string on an old 2950 Switch SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.236.4.1.8.7.7.10.1.2.1 but this string is not working on the 4500.
Can anyone help me with my issue?
Thank you,
AndreasHi kehander,
Thanks for the reply. I tried filling a constant path with the Mac-defined path to a data file on the USB disk (ie "DATA2:file1.dat"). This resulted in the same error message.
I then considered that maybe I was misinterpreting the LV error message, and that perhaps I was supposed to address the file using PC-notation (ie. "DATA2\file1.dat"), even though the app is running on a Mac. No joy with this, but I get a different error msg:
"Error 1430 occurred at Open File
Possible reason(s):
LabVIEW: The path is empty or relative. You must use an absolute path."
Can you share what your reasoning was for your suggestion... I'm not sure I understand why a constant path would produce different results? -
Clearing the switch CAM using SNMP
How can I clear the Dynamic address table (CAM) using SNMP? There is a check box for this on the WEB interface. It appears that the AAT time does not remove all entries older than that time. I need to do this remotely from software and can't use the WEB interface.
The switch we are using in an SRW208P.
Thanks,
GCLI suggest contacting Cisco Tech support to further look into your concern. I believe this unit belongs to the business series devices that Cisco is now supporting. Try to go to this link for the other business series devices and the site where you can get hold of Cisco for support:

CAM-Table over SNMP(ESW-520-48P)
Hi everyone,
I could need some help with our Cisco ESW-520-48P Switches. I want to read the CAM-Table over SNMP and assign each interface the appropiate client device. The problem is that I don't really know how to achive that. I've tested some different MIBs but I can't get the infos which I need.
Thank you very much in forward!I need to decide on few things
regarding this switch before recommending this switch to my customer. I
have the following questions that i need some expert advice.
Questions
1.)
Does this switch support POE 15.4W on all 48 10/100 ports
(ESW-520-48P-K9). The total power rating of this switch is only 370W
and if this divided with 48 ports, each port can only drive 7W. So thus
the confusion.
2.) Can the ESW Series be Monitored and Managed using Ciscoworks LMS?
3.) Is MGBSX1 compatible with GLC-SX-MM
Thanks.
Hi,
Please see the attached document for your queries !!
Hope to Help !!

When Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is enabled, using the ActiveX control to print reports from a Crystal 10 DHTML viewer results in the following error message:
"A communication error occurred, printing will be stopped."
How can this error message be resolved?
Resolution
This is a known issue with Crystal Reports 10 and Crystal Enterprise 10 viewers and has been tracked. The Track ID is ADAPT00282199.
This error occurs due to the receiving application performing a case-sensitive check for the HTTPS request header value "ON". When a sender application sends the value as "on" in lower case, the error occurs. The update below changes the receiving application to be case-insensitive.
Hot Fixes or Service Packs address this issue as indicated below. With the updates, this issue is resolved.
Unless indicated otherwise, Weekly Hot Fix updates from our FTP site have only been tested with English versions of products.
For Crystal Reports 10 and Crystal Enterprise 10, the update for this issue is included in the Crystal 10 Viewers Weekly Hot Fix (WHF). This is available in English only at the following location:
ftp://ftp.crystaldecisions.com/outgoing/EHF/viewers10win_en.zip
This issue is addressed in the following components (and later versions):
PageObjectModel.dll, version 10.0.5.785, dated 8/25/2004
ReportRenderer.dll, version 10.0.5.785, dated 8/25/2004
WebReporting.dll, version 10.0.5.785, dated 8/25/2004 -
does anyone know how the cutout filter works and is there a way of achieving the same effect without using filters to get more control over final look?
Several ways to get similar results. Image > Adjustments > Posturize with low values similar to what you'd use n Cutout. This is the most flexible way I can think of as you keep the image in RGB mode with layers intact. A more radical approach would be to reduce bit depth using Indexed Colour. You'll need to experiment with settings, try changing Forced to Primaries, and Matte to Foreground Color. There's no going back from this route, although you can change the mode back to RGB to re-enable layers, adjustment layers etc.
A nice thing about the Filter gallery filters is that you can change the layer to a Smart object with all the control that gives you.
Now if only this forum could filter out bizarre content. -

Do I have control over "USE flags" when compile from source
I have used Gentoo and like it's system specific customizations, but am looking for something a slight bit easier to maintain. I noticed that Arch also compiles as part of the installation. Do I have control over the system wide compile setting in order to customize the builds similar to what is done is Gentoo? Or, is the pacman process a "one size fits all" installer without customizations, for such things as architecture, with or without certain extensions...
Thanks for your info. This looks like the distro for me, but am researching first. It's a one-size-fits-all approach for the official binary repos and many weird and wonderful things can be found in the AUR or unofficial user repos. You can also use ABS to alter the configuration yourself, but you would have to edit PKGBUILDs for every package you want to change (e.g. add '--enable-foo') as Arch doesn't use the USE flags.
Official Arch packages support only i686 and generic 64-bit architectures, but e.g. linux -ck kernel https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=111715 is provided optimized for many specific processors. -
FaceTime won't start because my camera is not switched on. How do I switch the camera on? Am using Mavericks on a MacBook Pro
You're most welcome, FlutePixzy!
FlutePixzy wrote: ... Apple Care netted nothing... Except they noted I have an older laptop...
If your older laptop meets Apple's published minimum OS X Mavericks: System Requirements, Apple technicians can make it work on your older laptop (if you decide that any service cost is worth the expense.) If so, call Apple Care again and politely ask them how to proceed. Ask to speak with a supervisor or manager if you don't get satisfaction. Limit the discussion to your Mac's problem(s).
Your assessment of Apple's shortcomings are unlikely to help anything.
Technicians may need to inspect your Mac before they can give you an accurate service cost estimate. There may be a separate charge for the inspection of your older Mac, so ask about that, too, if cost is an issue for you.

Use SNMP to monitor the power supply status of stacked switches
Does anybody know how to use SNMP to monitor the status of the internal power supplies of a group of stacked Cisco 3750 switches?
The switch stack has three 3750-48PS-E switches inter-connected by Cisco StackWise cable. IOS ver 12.1(19)EAlc. A single IP address is used to identify the switch stack. Every time I poll the OID chassisPs1Status (1.3.6.1.4.1.9.5.1.2.4.0 in CISCO-STACK-MIB), I only got the status for the Master switch of the switch stack. Is there any way to poll the power supply status of other switches in the switch stack?
Thanks a lot!Sorry to refresh such an old topic - but I am stuck with exactly this: Monitoring power supplies of a stacked Cisco Catalyst 3750-E.
I'm using the exact same OID's as described, but the problem is, the information shown on the SNMP output is not correct.
This morning, a power supply of the first switch failed and switched to RPS. Here the information I got on SNMP:
snmpwalk -v 2c -c public 192.168.1.50 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1

SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.13.1.5.1.4.2060 = INTEGER: 2
As you see, both PS1 (for both switches) are appearing normal. It doesn't even recognize RPS:
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.13.1.5.1.2.1059 = STRING: "Sw1, PS1 Normal, RPS NotExist"
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.13.1.5.1.2.2060 = STRING: "Sw2, PS1 Normal, RPS NotExist"
The first switch's power supply died and now the cable is disconnected. LED's of the power supply are out. And still: The switch happily announces by SNMP it's power supplies are up.
Is this a known bug? If yes, has it been fixed?
