Yes, assuming that the relevant switch ports are controlled by the CAM. Make sure that the phones are excluded from authentication by their MAC addresses (work out some valid prefix and exclude them from authentication) otherwise you will see authentication loops.

Compatibility question with Nortel phones

Hello,
I just introduced a Cisco SP200-48P switch into our Nortel environment. When I plug the phone into a POE port, the port is unresponsive (doesn't light up), and the Nortel phone doesn't power up.
The data aspect of the port is fine, when I plug a computer into the switchport.
Am I running into a compatibility issue with Nortel phones, or should they work just fine with the switch right out of the box.

Hi jdamone, please verify you're using a POE port. The left side of the port banks are POE. The right side are not. If the 1-12 and 25-36 would be POE on a 48 port switch. And yes, if the phone is 802.3af compliant, it should work out of the box, no problems. If you're connecting to the correct port and verified the wire and the phone is POE then the next step would be to upgrade the switch firmware to latest version.

NAC OOB disconnection with IP Phone

I have a question about NAC behavior, when i have a Ip phone connected, my workstation never goes down because
even if I turn off that workstation my swichport still on Link UP state.
Does anyone know how can I get around that issue?

Hi,
That is by design. The only instance when CAM will know that your PC is not on the network anymore (if it's behind an IP phone) is when a new MAC address is noted on the port. For this to work you have to use MAC-NOTIFICATION, and not the LINKUP-LINKDOWN traps on the CAM
In the upcoming 4.8 release you'll have an option of notifying the CAM when you logoff the machine, but that is not out yet.

NAC L3 OOB VoIP

I've configured a CAM and CAS as both L2 OOB and have enabled L3 support with Real IP. I have a remote site that uses Avaya 4610SW VoIP phones. Both the CAM and CAS reside locally with no CAS at the remote site.
I'm able to get full functionality with VoIP phones and clients connected to the phones from a Layer 2 perspective, however when I try and get the remote office VoIP phone/client combo, it doesn't work. When I remove the phone and plug the client machine directly to the switchport, it works, so I'm sure the PBR and GRE configs are correct.
From my readings, I know that you need to exclude the mac addresses of the phones, and when I have done testing from a Layer 2 perspective, it works without a problem. The problem that I am seeing is that the mac address of the phone is not being picked up by the NAC. I'm aware that mac addresses are stripped off for L3, but I have no idea how to get this to work. The profile has been set up to not bounce the port, mac address notification vs linkup/down, etc.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

In this scenario, the L3 stripping off the MACs doesn't apply. If you are controlling the switch on the remote site with CAM and sending MAC-Notifications to the CAM, those notifications would include the MAC of your phone.
You have to make sure that the MAC addresses of those phones are in the "IGNORE" filter on your CAM and not ALLOW filter. This essentially tells the CAM that when the switch reports a new MAC on the switchport, and if it's in the IGNORE filter, to ignore that MAC and now switch the port back to AUTH vlan.

E51 SIP connection with Nortel CS1000

I need to setup E51 as SIP client with Nortel CS1000 rel 5.
The client register itself but when the call start the phone freeze itself. I can only work with volume and on/off .
There is someone that try to do this type of connection ?

Same problems here, with my E51

I can register my phone to an Asterisk server and make outgoing calls. The phone also rings on incoming calles, but as soon as I want to answer the call, the phone freezes and the only thing that helps is to remove the battery.

Jabra PRO setup with office phone, iPhone, and Skype...

MacBook Pro 2012 w/ Retina. iPhone 6. Nortel networks phone. I want a headset...
At the office, I get calls to my main phone 20% of the time, my iPhone 60% of the time, and I call internationally using Skype the rest 20%. I hate, absolutely hate, holding either Nortel phone to my ear or the iPhone. I have a decent headset for Skype but it's wired which forces me to sit in the chair for an hour and I hate that as well. I'm just full of it, huh? :-)

Why does only the USB cable that came with my phon...

I recently acquired a Nokia Lumia Icon from Verizon. I have a Lenovo Yoga Pro 2 computer running Windows 8.1 with the Windows Phone App for Desktop (WPA4D) installed. I had a very difficult time getting my Icon to be seen by my computer when connecting it with one of the half dozen micro USB cables I have laying around. WPA4D would not recognize it. Then, I connected it using the USB cable that came with the phone, and WPA4D immediately recognized it. Then I unplugged it and went back to a different cable - it was again not recognized.
What is different about the USB cable that ships with the Nokia Lumia Icon? If I want to order more, like from Monoprice, what do I order to get the same thing? Why is Nokia (apparently) using some sort of proprietary cable??

It is not proprietary.The charging/data cable for my GPS works.
A lot of the cables are just for charging and that is all they are wired for and they don't even have the data pin. Full size USB cables are the same way.
If I needed an extra I would get it from Nokia.

Shot videos ONLY in landscape. For photos choose what's you like. Maybe you have to rotate photos on PC. What's your operating system?

Problems with IP Phones registration to CUCME on SG200-50P

Problems with IP Phones registration to CUCME on SG200-50P
System setup:
- Router Cisco 2811 with IOS 12.4(24)T5 Advanced IP Services, CUCME 7.1, DHCP Server
   with HWIC-4ESW
- Switches:
   - old - SLM224P
   - new - SG200-50P (SLM2048PT), OS v1.3.2.02
- IP Phones 7911 and 7931, OS v8.4.2
One VLAN (for desktops and IP Phones) and one IP subnet, no voice VLAN.
Network diagram:
C2811---HWIC-4ESW---SWITCH---IPPhones
Problem description:
1. In the old setup with SLM224P everything works fine.
   Connected phones almost immediately (1-2 sec. after power up) get ip address, configuration and registers to CUCME.
2. When switch is changed to new SG200-50G:
   - ip phones get their ip address and tftp configuration very slowly - about 10-20 seconds
   - ip phones cant register to CUCME at all. On the router with SCCP debugging turned on there is no sing of registration attempt
   - after reconnecting the old SLM224P situation backs to normal
Things that have been checked or tried without success:
- ports speed and duplex auto, correct detection - although not tested with manual settings
- CDP/LLDP on/off
- smartport mode auto and most static settings, also with disabled smartport
- power cycle / reset
- spanning tree and port security settings
- solutions from that post - https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2232161
None of the above methods worked.
The only action that allowed ip phones to register was changing smartport role to static IPPhone + Desktop.
After that when phone was disconnected and then reconnected the problem exists again - no registration (IP Phone status DECEASED in CUCME). Same with power cycle/reset.
Please advice.

Nope, flat network, one ip subnet (10 hosts and 10 phones)

Yep, phones are connected to untagged access ports of the one and only vlan
3 - Have you tried to set the auto voice vlan on the switch so it dynamically assigns the role for ip phone + desktop?
Not sure about auto voice vlan setting, although there was no triggers to AVV - no static voice vlan, no CDP/VSDP advertisements of voice vlan.
We've tested static and auto smartport roles (independently of auto voice vlan feature) with successful auto-detection.
The switch was pretty much in default out-of-the-box config (beside management parameters).
4 - When rebooting the switch, you did ensure to save the start up to running config?

5 - Have you manually set spanning tree PORT FAST for the phone ports?
No, we haven't tested that. But portfast should be set automatically for the desktop and ip phone smartport roles.

1.4 - Important sites will not work & why are the AIM / Facebook contacts integrated with my phone contacts?

Two issues I am having with my phone.
1 - Before upgrading to the 1.4 software patch, I was able to visit some sites that I use regularly, one being www.hotschedules.com. I bartend and use my phone to look at my weekly schedule but now it will not work. Just to test it, I used a buddies phone who had not upgraded to 1.4 and the site opened JUST FINE!
2 - I want to use facebook and AIM on my phone but for some (stupid?) reason, ALL of my facebook and aim contacts get listed in the SAME LIST as my phone contacts. I do NOT want to scroll through hundreds of contacts to find someone. Yes I know there are shortcuts but why even do this in the first place?

I attempted the website you mentioned, and it loaded fine on 1.4.1.1 on my Sprint Pre. We did identify some issues with websites on 1.4, and this should be resolved with 1.4.1. I know 1.4.1 is not available for Verizon yet, however it should be available soon.
As for Facebook contacts, they show in the Synergy contact list by design, so that you can see all of your contacts in one master list. If you do not want those contacts showing in your Contacts app, you can open Preferences & Accounts for contacts and remove any account you don't want to see contacts for.

When I try to connect my iphone to itunes it will not work, but when I connect an ipod it will. This is telling me something is wrong with my phone I am jsut not sure what that is. Can someone help me.

I was trying to update my music last night. But itunes told me it needed to be updates first. So I updated itunes, and my phone. But now when I connect my phone using the usb. It will not connect to itunes, all that comes up is a phone icon on my desk top(which doesn't allow me to do anything with) But when I connect an ipod it does connect to itune and I am abble to look at how much room is left, and the option to restore ect) . SO this tells me something is wrong with my phone it self. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this problem?

iPod touches or any iDevices from Apple sync only to one computer. If you sync to a different computer, all your music will be replace with the music from the new computer's iTunes. If the music were purchased from iTunes, you can re-download them again otherwise the music on iPod touch will be deleted. Do you have iTunes backup?

The phone has 16GB. But that does not mean you have total of 16GB of usable space. For example I have a 1TB hard drive but only has 930GB of usable space. You will never have the exact number because that would mean manufactures have to make it bigger than advertised. If they want the phone to display internally 16GB then they would have to make chips that hold 19GB.
You will see this with all phones, memory cards and hard drives. If you ever buy an 32GB iPhone it will display that it has internally 28-29GB available. With 64GB iPhone it will display internally 58-59GB available. The more memory you have the more it seems like its missing but its not really missing its just the way manufacturers measure Megabytes.
Do you have App refresh on? I have seen that feature drain battery on iphones very quickly. Try turning that off. Charging always makes phones get warm. Take phone out of the case its in.
