NAC modes supported by the Catalyst 2960

Hello, we want to be able to use NAC with agentless hosts. From my reading the NAC-L2-IP and NAC-L3-IP modes are the only modes that support NAH's.
Are these two modes supported by The Catalyst 2960 switch?

This should answer your question:

Note: you can find it off of:

Hope it helps,

  • Troubleshooting Fiber Connection on a Catalyst 2960

    I am trying to test my fiber connectivity on a Catalyst 2960 before I deploy it. So what I thought I would do is connect it to another switch in my office with a open port for the fiber connection. The other switch is a Catalyst 3560G. Here are the port configurations:
    interface GigabitEthernet0/2
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,100
    switchport mode trunk
    macro description cisco-switch
    interface GigabitEthernet0/25
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,100
    switchport mode trunk
    The first one is the catalyst 2960 and the 3560G is the second.
    When you show the interface for each of these it shows that it recognizes the media but the line protocal and the GigbitEthernet Port is down.
    Any Ideas?

    Sorry... a fiber optic cable with a connector on each end.
    To aid in troubleshooting, many times we loopback the signal back to the originating device. An optical loopback is just connecting the transmit (Tx) to the receive (Rx).
    The multimode SFP/GBIC transceiver you are using will allow you to directly connect the Transmit and Receive ports without damage to the unit. This should provide you with a green link LED.
    If so, then you can reconnect your fibers and loopback (connect the two fibers together) at the far end of the fiber link (use an optical adapter) and see if you get a green LED.

  • Installed wrong image on Cisco Catalyst 2960

    some time ago I did an IOS upgrade on the Catalyst 2960, however I used the wrong image and caused the switch CAN NOT load properly. My switch is c2960 but I used c2960s, what a big mistake.
    When the switch boots, and it hangs on the execution of the image, because c2960s image will not work on c2960.
    Anyone got some idea how I can fix this? I tried to restart the switch and pressed "Break" on the terminal, and it didn't stopped.

    snmpwalk -v 2c -c bic-zua-ro 10.u.y.x 1.3.6.1.2.1.17.2.15.1.3
    I recieve and error .
    SNMPv2-SMI::mib-2.17.2.15.1.3 = No Such Instance currently exists at this OID
    For the sake of comparison, querying our 4700 :
    snmpwalk -v 2c -c bic-zua-ro 10.u.y.x 1.3.6.1.2.1.17.2.15.1.3
    returns (as expected, cropped)

  • BEA Weblogic JSR compliant portal - Modes supported.

    Hi,
    The JSR 168 spec has the provision to support custom modes in addition to the default modes like view , help & edit . I want to know what are the custom modes supported by the Bea Web logic portal which is JSR 168 compliant.

How this mode works is Assume a publisher create a portlet with some defaults and publishes it , and then when another logged in user sees the portlet he will see the portlet with those defaults which he can go and edit based on his customization. Just wanted to know if this mode is supported by the Edit default mode.

  • 10GBase-T on a Catalyst 2960-S

    Is there a copper 10Gbps SFP for the Catalyst 2960-S that is compatible for connecting to a 10GBase-T module on a Catalyst 4900M?
    I know there is some copper SFP's, but I don't know if they are 10GBase-T compatible. Also, with the limited distances, I'm wondering if it's safer using the SR fiber SFP's.
    I seem to remember some annecdotal talk about these SFP's - the SFP-H10GB-CU1M - being having to be really carefully connected; i.e. it's easy to lose the link if you bend the cable in a certain way.

    Due to physical limitation, SFP+ 10GBASE-T transceiver is not available so far.
    The only possible solution is media converter.

  • IDSM on catalyst 6500 to provide IOS Inline mode support

    I am currently evaluating what kind of method to apply in my 6500. I would like to ask if IOS Version 12.2(33)SXI2a  support inline mode and inline vlan pair mode with IDSM-2???what configuration should be done with the switch in order for the multiple vlan traffic to flow with an inline interface of the IDSM2??? In my case I have 16 user vlans and 1 server vlan on catalyst 6500...The task is to protect the servers from users....The requirement is to configure inline mode to monitor the traffic from these 16 vlans when they access the servers...But as we know the IDSM-2 has only two logical sensing ports...So my question is how will you configure the switch to forward the traffic from these 16 vlans to the IDSM-2 module via only ONE sensing port, since the other sensing port will be configured in the server vlan???  Because as far as i know, when you configure inline mode on IOS,you will have to configure the sensing ports in access mode( While in CatOS, you configure these as TRUNK ports)...But this will work when you have only two vlans...But in my case, I have 16 vlans to monitor in inline mode..Please suggest any solution.
    Any urgent reply will be much grateful...
    Many Thanks in advance

    Hi Mubin,
       If you're looking to monitor all the traffic from the user VLANs to the server VLANs then the simplest way to configure the IDSM-2 would be inline on the server VLAN segment.  All traffic destined to the servers (from the users or anywhere else) has to traverse that VLAN.  Assuming you have something like this to start:
    VLAN 100-120 (users) ====== Switch ------ VLAN 200 (servers)
    you'd drop the IDSM-2 inline on VLAN 200 by using a helper VLAN:
    VLAN 100-120 (users) ====== Switch ----- VLAN 201 (server gateway) ----- IDSM-2 (bridging 201 to 200) ----- VLAN 200 (servers)
    To do this you'll need to perform the following steps:
    1.  Designate a new VLAN to use as a helper VLAN for your current server VLAN.  I'll use 201 for this example and assume your current server VLAN is 200.
    Create the helper VLAN on the switch:
    switch# conf t
    switch(config)# vlan 201
    2.  Configure the IDSM-2 to bridge the helper VLAN and the server VLAN (200-201)
    sensor# conf t
    sensor(config)# service interface
    sensor(config-int)# phsyical-interface GigabitEthernet0/7
    sensor(config-int-phy)# admin-state enabled
    sensor(config-int-phy)# subinterface-type inline-vlan-pair
    sensor(config-int-phy-inl)# subinterface 1
    sensor(config-int-phy-inl-sub)# vlan1 200
    sensor(config-int-phy-inl-sub)# vlan2 201
    sensor(config-int-phy-inl-sub)# description Server-Helper pair
    sensor(config-int-phy-inl-sub)# exit
    sensor(config-int-phy-inl)# exit
    sensor(config-int-phy)# exit
    sensor(config-int)# exit
    Apply Changes:?[yes]:
    3.  Configure the switch to trunk the helper and server VLANs to the IDSM-2 module.  I assume the module is in slot 5 in the example.  Replace the 5 with the correct slot for your deployment:
    switch# conf t
    switch(config)# intrusion-detection module 5 data-port 1 trunk allowed-vlan 200,201
    switch(config)# intrusion-detection module 5 data-port 1 autostate include
    *Warning! This next step may cause an outage if everything is configured correctly.  You'll probably want to schedule a window to do this.*
    4.  Finally, force the traffic from the server VLAN through the IDSM-2 by moving the server VLAN gateway from VLAN 200 (where it is currently) to the helper VLAN you created.  To do this, remove the SVI from VLAN 200 and apply the same IP address to VLAN 201.  I assume the current server gateway is 192.168.1.1/24
    switch# conf t
    switch(config)#int vlan 200
    switch(config-int)#no ip addr
    switch(config-int)#int vlan 201
    switch(config-int)#ip addr 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0
    switch(config-int)#exit
    switch(config)#exit
    switch# wr mem
    Now, when the servers try to contact 192.168.1.1 (their gateway) they'll have to be bridged through the IDSM-2 to reach VLAN 201 and in the process all traffic destined to them or sourced from them will be inspected.  Do not put any hosts or servers in the helper VLAN (201) or they will not be inspected.
    Best Regards,
    Justin

  • Catalyst 2960S switch stack support?

    I have a customer with a new stack of four Catalyst 2960S switches.

  • ERROR: Update mode C is not supported by the extraction API - R3 11

    Hi gurus,
    I just tryed to implement the solution I found at this link:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/d3219af2-0c01-0010-71ac-dbb4356cf4bf
    The data source is based on an Infoset on the KONV R/3 Table.
    I setted the AIM delta process and I did all the activities as written in the document.
    The process works if I load data to bw in "full", with "Init without data transfer" and "delta" mode. Of course if I change a Purchase document, it will be posted in the delta queue and then loaded to bw with the next delta load.
    The "initialize delta process" (with data) doesen't work and returns the following error:
    Update mode C is not supported by the extraction API
    the error code is R3 11.
    have you any idea about it???
    Thanks!!!
    Regards!
    Matteo

    Hi,
    for me it sounds quite simple. It is that the update mode 'C' get flagged as 'not allowed' for this extractor. Did you check with rsa3? I guess you will get the same error message. May be you can start debugging in rsa3 to find the place where the update mode gets checked.
    Anyway, it shouldn't be a issue as you have a workaround. May be you should raise a error message at sap because of this.
    regards

  • Does the Catalyst 2960x-48TD support Cisco's IGMP Snooping MIB?

    Does the Catalyst 2960x-48TD support Cisco's IGMP Snooping MIB?  We have a number of switches from different vendors and have recently begun switching to Cisco's, however unlike the other brands I am unable to audit the IGMP Snooping settings via SNMP.  It appears that while the switch supports IGMP Snooping it does not support the CISCO MIB for IGMP Snooping.  Is this a known bug and is it fixed in any of the later releases?
    Our company is purchasing and deploying C2960X-48TD's and I am tasked with updating our system audit software

    Hi Sean,
    Nov 21 15:40:42.390: %MCAST-SPSTBY-6-ETRACK_STATS_LIMIT_EXCEEDED: Number of entries in IGMP snooping explicit-tracking statistics has exceeded the maximum limit (32000)
    The above log message is written because the number of explicit-tracking statistics entries is bounded to avoid monopolizing of system resources by IGMP/MLD snooping. The explicit-tracking statistics database maximum size is set to the same as that of explicit-tracking limit.
    The statistics are split into two banks: permanent and volatile. The statistics entries will be stored permanently (volatile) until the permanent entries threshold is reached, after which the statistics will be stored temporarily up to the database maximum size. When the size of the database exceeds the permanent threshold, a group will be removed on receiving an IGMP/MLD leave. Groups can be removed whether they were installed above or below the permanent threshold. If the number of statistics entries grows beyond the maximum size of the database, then no statistics will be stored for any newly formed groups.
    You can disable ip igmp snooping explicit-tracking by the following
    1) Configure "no ip igmp snooping explicit-tracking"
    2) Configure "ip igmp snooping limit track 0" on global.
    3) After ET is disabled, please do a "clear ip igmp snooping statistics".
