NAC with OOB and Wireless 802.1x

Had Anybody any experience with
integration NAC OOB and 802.1x?
I have seen that there are some issues about it.

Working pretty well.

  • Can I use HP Pro 8600 with usb and wireless at the same time

Can I use HP Pro 8600 with usb and wireless at the same time?  Sometimes I cannot get the wireless to work, it seems to be my laptop.  It would be nice if I could use the usb, but it doesn't work.  What should / can I do, if anything?

    Hi,
Same physical printer but when connecting to SAME computer using both USB and wireless it becomes two (logical) printers. Probably your default prnter is the wireless one, you have to select the right printer before print .

  • AX and wireless 802.11g printer sharing

Would anybody know to configure this:
    Situation:
An existing AX connected to the internet and sharing it's internet access with two users - working fine
    Question:
Is it possible to configure this network so that a coexisting wireless 802.11g printer can also be shared between the two users (wirelessly - not using the USB port on the AX), without the users having to alternate their Airport card between Internet-network and Printer-network?

It is possible if the printer can be configured to wirelessly join the network provided by the AX.

  • NAC differentiate wired and wireless users

We have NAC installed and are using it control both wired and wireless ports.  We also have the Guest Server that we are in the process of implementing.  We would like for only users that are created via the Guest Server to use both wired and wireless access, which we are able to do @ this point.  Our issue is that we have a Guest account that we would like to restrict to only wired users, this account is posted in conference rooms for internet access only.  We don't want this account to be able to be used on the wireless network, is this possible?
    Thanks,
    Joe

Where are those conference room guests authenticating currently ? Through Nac ? Through webauth on a switch linked with NGS ?

  • NAC with NON-cisco wireless

    Hi there,
I know that with WLC 5.1 and NAC 4.5 Cisco started to support OOB, NAC implementation. Now here is my question:
A customer has CISCO environment except for the wireless which is another vendor. What are the options to bring wireless traffic into NAC server? Is OOB deployment possible?
    Thanks,
    rdianat

So what is the solution for this scenario?
remote site has non-cisco autonomous wireless AP. NAC is centralized. I can not use OOB since there is no support for non-cisco AP in OOB mode. As a result I use InBand mode. This means that local wireless trffic in remote site must travel to central site, go through NAC Server and go back to remote site. Is this correct?

  • [SOLVED]problem with GNOME and wireless connection

    Hi!
I'm new to Arch Linux, and have run into a few problems after installation.
My computer is a HP Pavilion dv6000.
I installed using "xf86-video-nouveau" driver, as i understand this is the best choice for "Nvidia Geforce Go 7400". Is it?
I also installed the complete "gnome", "gnome-extra", "gdm", "gnome-tweak-tool" and "gnome-shell-extensions" packages, but when I boot into gdm login, it automatically starts in fallback mode (the one who has "applications" and "places" in the top panel instead of "activities". What am I doing wrong here?
Btw, when I go to System settings - system info - graphics, there are three lines; "Driver", "Experience", "Forced Fallback Mode". "Driver" line only says driver, and is blank after. "Experience" line says "Fallback".  "Forced Fallback Mode" is set to OFF.
Also, I cannot figure out how to get my wireless network set up correctly.
When i open System Settings - Network, I get an error saying System network is not compatible with this version.
Any help with this woill be greatly appreciated!

-dri driver worked. But if the NVIDIA driver works better, I should probably consider using that one.
I tried to install the NVIDIA binary driver, but when i tried to run
    # chmod -X NVIDIA-Linux-x86-290.10.run
    # ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-290.10.run
I got a message telling me to close x first.
    How can I do this?
Ho ho ho buddy, I see you're trying to install the nvidia driver from the website. Have another look here:
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Nvidia#Installing
the drivers are available through pacman Installing the driver through pacman will automatically take care of removing things that conflict and installing things you need to ge t the NVIDIA driver to work.
NVIDIA _might_ be better, 3d support in nouveau is still somewhat experimental and nouveau doesn't have all the power management features yet. It'll be something to experiment with. Have a good read of the NVIDIA and NOUVEAU wiki articles

As for the wireless issue, I googled around a bit and found that the driver I need is ilw3945.
    I added this to /etc/rc.conf:
    DAEMONS=(...ilw3945...)
as it seems the drivers are included in udev.
However, when i try to open System Settings -> Network, it says
The system network services are not compatible with this version.
So I'm getting a little restless to find out what I can do to get the wireless network configurated properly, and how I can do it.
    Any ideas?
First I think you've fundamentally misunderstood something. Drivers for linux come in module form, not in DAEMON form. A DAEMON is an application that runs in the background (sound server, network service, etc etc).
ilw3945 would have to be added to your MODULES section in /etc/rc.conf if that is the module you need.
humor me and post the output of this command:

  • Problem with Skype and Wireless Networks

I have been having a problem with Airport for about 10 months. Long winded explanation follows.
Initially file transfers over wireless networks were extremely slow but this seems to have been that 10.5.2 update problem. There is a remaining issue when I use Skype on my Mac (details below) connected to a wireless network the incoming and outgoing audio drop out for 1 - 3 seconds at irregular but frequent intervals (approx every 5 - 10 seconds). This is regardless of the wireless network I am on - and that is dozens of them all over the world. Note it is voice only calls, not video. Apple has replaced the Airport card and the mother board; the OS has been reinstalled; test accounts set up but nothing fixes the problem.
At one point I had temporary relief by switching off 'Configure IPv6' in System Preferences/Network/Airport/TCP/IP. This worked for a month or so but now the problem is back as before.
All other aspects of wireless activity are fine. Wireless firmware is 1.4.4.
I have worn out my welcome with the usually sensational help desk. Any suggestions out there in Mac Land?

After discussion with tech support they said the Airpot card had to be replaced. This was done with admirable expediency and I got the MBP back in 36 hours. On testing it the same problem was still there. Identical pattern on the ping test, the fault was not the hardware.
Once more a call to Apple and another tech. This time we booted from the OS 10.5 install disk and ran the ping test. I ran it for a few hours without seeing the fault, it worked fine. The problem had to be in the operating system.
After backing up all the data I zeroed the drive and did a clean install of the OS. Bingo! Problem gone.
So after 10 months, two airport cards and a mother board, the issue was in fact something corrupt deep in the OS.
So to anyone having similar problems with Airport, run a ping test as described above. If you see that kind of pattern, try a clean install before going down the hardware road.

  • Issues with macbook and wireless compatibility with netgear router

my macbook wireless is extremely spotty with my netgear router at home.
the connection is sometimes very good, but other times, extremely unreliable.
the wireless connection to the router is perfect, 4 bars. and it is actually within 10ft of the router itself.
i use my macbook constantly at my college student center, and the connection to the network and internet is perfect...
is there any way to fix my internet connection in regards to the netgear router?? (all other PC + PC labtops are perfect with it. its just my macbook that has issues)

I have to agree with you.
I have a Netgear Cable Router, my iPhone & my wifes iPhone, my Vista PC & my older Vista Laptop connect with out a problem and are rock solid to boot.
My new MacBook Aluminium seems to be very tempremental at best. Dont get me wrong, i love my new macbook but i am a little unhappy that this is happening. Looking at others on this forum, it seems to be across the board so will happily await a firmware/driver update from apple.
With any luck, this should be resolved shortly.

  • Trouble with wired and wireless home network

I recently installed a WTR54GS with my desktop wired to it and my laptop wireless.  My laptop can get to the internet (router is attached to a cable modem) but it can not see shared files on the desktop or the printer that is attached to the desktop.  However, the desktop can see the shared file folder on the laptop.  I can not seem to correct this.  Latest error message I got was Microsoft 871122, something about wireless zero configuration.  I'm about ready to go back to my old USR router that worked fine, except that it lost its IP address periodically.  Any advice?

It could be a bunch of things. I am guessing you added the wireless laptop after the desk top. The best place to start is on your desktop. Right click on your shared folder. From the dropdown menu select sharing and security. From there it gives you several options as well as more info...including your firewall settings. Do the same thing on your desktop using Control Panal and the printers and fax icon right click on your printer. You might also check to see if your LAN or Worgroup match between the two puters. You can make it work no matter, but might find it easier if they are the same. Do this by right clicking on My Computer, choose properties on the dropdown choose the computer name tab. It will give you an option to change the settings...That is a basic start...the wireless 0 connection error your are getting implies that you let microsoft setup on your  wireless adapter settings on your laptop. This can be disabled. I avoid using the micorsoft stuff for setup for your wireless adapter. Just my prefrence. That is with one exception and unless you are Windows Registry Hexpert, I won.t get into that.
    Anyway a possiable start.

  • Airport Extreme works fine with ibook and wireless PC on WPA, but not Wii

    Hi;
I just got an Airport Extreme last week. Took me a while to get everything figured out, but I got my ibook as well as my wife's ibook and her PC to connect wirelessly, using WPA encryption. We have a TiVo (using the "official" TiVo USB transceiver)and a Nintendo Wii that I can't get to connect though. Both see the network and try to connect, but after a connection attempt they come back with an error message that the network can't be found.
When I change to WEP encryption, the connections work just fine. I really want to stick with WPA, though, as there are a bunch of wireless networks around me and I obviously don't want anyone else to connect to my network. Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks in advance.

At first we could plug the Dell in directly but that was before setting up the AX. Now that the AX works the Dell cannnot connect even wired. (It says that it's connected but it cannot find server when you try to open a webpage). Could this be a problem that the moden cannot go between Mac & windows?
Most modems tend to "remember" the last device connected to it, so it's important to do a complete power-down/power-up when switching devices. It's possible that your modem did this when you attempted to connect the PC directly. My purpose of having you connect the PC directly was to verify that it can access the Internet with a wired connection and that it's wireless setting needs to be troubleshot further.
The power recycle process should be something like the following:
    - Power-off the modem & AX; If possible, leave the modem off overnight.
    - Power-on the modem; Wait at least 30 minutes.
    - Power-on the AX; Wait at least 5 minutes.

  • Sharing printer with wired and wireless computers

I am sure there's a topic about this somewhere, but I can't seem to find a clear answer. I have a PowerMac G4 that does not have wireless capabilites. I have a PowerBook G4 that does, and an Airport Express that makes everything possible. Last night I went to hook my laser printer up to the Airport Express. Everything went smoothly, but now I cannot print from my PowerMac. Is there a way that I can set this all up so both computers can use the printer without having to buy an Airport card for the PowerMac?
Right now the printer is connected to the Airport Express which is connected to my router. The PowerMac is also connected to the router.
Sorry that I am so clueless about this. Networking baffles me.

Go to Airport Admin and uncheck "Distribute IP Addresses." With both a router and an Airport Express, you have created two separate networks - turning off part of that brings it back to one. (You may need to restart the Macs)

  • WRE54G with WRK54G and wireless printer

My router is a WRK54G that connects to the desktop with an ethernet cable.
Next to it is a HP2510 printer that's wireless.
I have two more computers that are wireless.
The one in the basement was having trouble with signal strength, so I put a WRE54G in the basement, right under the WRK54G.
It works like a charm for the computer downstairs.
But... it seems to interfere with the printer: ever since I installed the repeater I am having trouble with the printer: it's slow, it sometimes takes an inordinate time before it realizes it should print something, and some pages never make it or are printer only partly.
Is there anything known about the effect that the installation of a WRE4G can have on a wireless printer?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    - Arnold

If your printer is connecting behind the Range expander then you would face an Issue because the wireless through-put of the range expander is exactly half the original through-put. So that may affect your printing experience a bit.

  • Problem with iMac and Wireless keyboard

The hard drive was faulty on my iMac. It took it into the AppleCare centre and they replaced the hard drive.
When I got the imac back none of the function keys work on my keyboard. For example when I press F11 and F12 keys they no longer adjust my volume.
I went into System Preferences > Keyboard and made sure that the "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys" was unticked. And still it makes no difference.
Is there something else I need to check, or could the AppleCare centre have done something wrong with my iMac?

Do you have a backup wired mouse? If you do delete your Bluetooth evices and Re+pair them with your system. Then you can try the Resets, which won't hurt.

  • TC working with cable and wireless

My question goes like this. At the moment my TC 2GB is cabeld to an router, which is connected to the internet. At the same time I have another router, where all my Labtops ar connected to. Is it possible to turn on the wireless connection from one router and at the same time connect TC via cable to another router.
I was thinking to Expend an existing wireless network, but as a said before my labtops cant see TC.
    Any Surgestions?

You cannot have multiple routers working as routers.. and get connection to items behind another router.. you need one router and then all the other routers must be in bridge mode.. there are various ways to do it.. if you have a router that has no WAP mode or bridge mode.. then you can use WAN BYPASS.. you set the IP correctly to the whole network standard.. eg.. if the main router is the TC.. it would be 10.0.1.1 then statically set routers to 10.0.1.254 and the next one to 10.0.1.253 etc. Turn off dhcp server in each and plug LAN from main router to LAN on the secondary router.
Once you have everything in a single flat network.. then you can setup wireless in roaming mode.. ie all wireless has the same name and same security setting and password but using a different wireless channel.. for 5ghz there are plenty but for 2.4ghz there are only 3 non-overlapping.. 1, 6, 11. Set each unit to one of these.

  • Can i run my printer with ethernet and wireless simultaneously?

    HP OfficeJet 6700
    Mac OS and Windows XP
I am trying to print to this printer wirelessly while it is connected to an ethernet network. Is that possible? We want to be able to print company reports from the Point of Sales system (hence the ethernet) but we also want to be able to print documents and emails from our laptops (wirelessly).
One of us has a Dell laptop running Windows XP, the other has a MacBook Pro.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
You can use LAN cable to connect your printer to a wireless router and use the printer wirelessly in your home network.
