Nahimic Sound Enhancer: Tutorial

Some of you may have heard about Nahimic previously, and its use in MSI Gaming systems. With Computex, we’ve decided to announce our partnership on a grand scale, and in short, Nahimic Audio Enhancer is a nifty software tool to enhance your gaming experience.
Nahimic itself has a background as an army supplier in sound technology – more specifically delivering software to combat flight simulators in France. Therefore, Nahimic is the first dedicated audio solution of its type with roots solely in gaming, unlike other solutions that stem from the world of movies.
Regardless of whether you’re interested in improving sound playback or recording, the easy to use control panel helps you on your way. See Nahimic’s video below for a comprehensive explanation:

Could you clarify the advantages or disadvantages of this as compared to the SoundBlaster software bundled with my GS70 2QE? Also weather or not I should be able to a upgrade my BIOS, and ensure my audio drivers are up to date, to run it on a machine that didn't ship with it? The updated BIOS description would seem to indicate this is possible (GS70 2QE Haswell), but the application wont launch to the GUI for me. Like others all I see is the startup icon in the task bar.

  • I can't find how to apply sound enhancements (EQ) for the podcasts now with iOS 6.0 update

    Dears at Apple:
I can't find how to apply sound enhancements (EQ) for the podcasts now with iOS 6.0 update on any of my devices(iPhone 4s, iPhone Touch (4th Gen), iPad (3rd Gen). Most of the "Podcasts" I listen to are music content based and wanted to apply sound enhancements(EQ) like before when integrated with ipod function. Can you consider to "fix" this issue?
    Many Thanks!

OK Emanuel I found a solution! I dowloaded and installed "Denon Audio" app from the iTunes store & it works great! It has an EQ you can set curves on manually or use the (few) built in pre-sets. It is a player like the Music app that comes with the iPhone, etc. but restores the EQ functionality so we can adjust the audio of PODCASTS:-) Until Apple fixes this what I consider a bug I will be using the Denon app as my default music player!

    Hi all
The attachment below is the SmartAudio Lite pdf with the hyperlink fixed.
For equalizer, you could try EqualizerAPO (link below). However, to have different EQ settings for internal and external device. I would recommend you open SmartAudio > Audio Director > Switch to Multi-Stream mode.

  • ITunes sound enhancing

Is there any third party program that could enhance iTunes' playback quality? I've tried the sound enhancer under preferences but I'd like something even better that can really give the sound some extra oomph...

Have you muted sound in iTunes?

  • SRS premium sound enhancements not working!!!!!

Two weeks back I installed Windows 8. Now I have Win 7 & Win 8 on dual boot. But SRS premium sound enhancement does not improve the sound quality in windows 8 as it does in windows 7. I mean it does nothing when I slide the audio enhancement slides. The sound is same whether the srs audio enhancement is enabled or not. But the equalizer works fine, only the audio enhancements not working.....my laptop HP G6 1202tx i3 4gb ram 500gb hdd 1gb radeon. Everything is okay in windows 7 but what happened to windows 8?

You could try to install the Windows 7 driver in compatibility mode:
Visit HP Support and get the Windows 7 drivers for the hardware you'd like to try.
Download the driver to your desktop.
Allow the extraction to complete but close the installation process when it comes up.
Navigate to the C:\swsetup\ folder.  You will see your driver listed here.  They usually have a name like "sp56349".  Navigate to this folder.
Within your driver's folder you will see a "setup.exe" file.  Right click this file and select Properties.
    Navigate to the "Compatibility" tab.
Click the box that says "Run this program in Compatibility mode for..." and also select Windows 7 from the drop down menu.
Check the box which says "Run this program as administrator" at the bottom.
Save these changes and double-click the "setup.exe" to begin the install.
Once the install completes reboot your PC and verify the functionality of the piece of hardware.

  • Sound Enhancer

I'm wondering, if they had put Sound Enhancer in iTunes, couldn't the same be implemented into the iPod software? It's really difficult to adapt now, because I've been listening all my songs with Sound Enhancer turned on for almost one year. Now that I bought an iPod the sound is very flat (equalizer doesn't help much, it only increases certain frequencies, bigger bass and cleaner treble, etc.) and I really hoped that such feature would be available, but it seems that Apple didn't concentrate more on sound quality (more work has been done on it's design and capacity). Overall, sound is ok, headphones are fine (could've been better, but I won't grieve), it's just that I miss those "hidden" sound effects that are not heard (hidden in the background) when Sound Enhancer is off.
Well, I just wanted to add some comments concerning the sound quality on the new iPod (the first I ever bought) since I expected a little bit more. Hopefully Sound Enhancer (or maybe some newer "virtual surround" feature) will be built in new iPod's in the future so I (and those that feel the same) can experience our music the way it was ment to be heard.

and three woofers and I am horns-waggled if I can pin a

at full , I have had it midway . Soaring violins cello's warm bass

  • What is Crossfade Playback&Sound Enhancer &should equalizer be on or off?

What exactly do both of these do? I still have mine I think on the default settings though I have turned off the Crosfade playback a few times while importing cds. Also seen the equalizer on iTunes is on with it on flat and wondering if should turn it off on iTunes because I keep the equalizer off my Ipod most off the time .Thank-You

Crossfade Playback overlaps the currently playing track with the next track. The time setting indicates how long an overlap you get at the end of the currently playing track. It basically fades the currently playing track out, and fades the next track in. This setting has no effect on importing CDs.
Sound Enhancer makes changes to the sound during playback to make the sound 'better' for small or low powered speakers that you get with computers or laptops.
The equalizer on iTunes also affects playback in iTunes only, not your iPod. Your iPod equalizer applies to all tunes played back on your iPod only. But if you have assigned a specific Equalizer Preset to a song in iTunes, your iPod will play according to that setting if your iPod Equalizer is set to Off.

  • What excatly does Sound Enhancer do?

I was going though all of the settings and noticed I had Sound Enhancer turned off. What excatly does Sound Enhancer do? Do most people use it?

When i tried it out many years ago, I found it just made everything sound like C-R-A-P so I never touched it again after that.

  • What is Sound Enhancer?

What is it? I'm a bit of an audiophile, and I prefer hearing music as it was on the CD (as the artist intended). I've played with Sound Enhancer and there's a diffirence (I can't say if it's good or bad), but what does it do? Is this some kind of equalizer setting, volume changer, or what? I'm not comfortable with a setting that claims to magically making things sound "better".

    from http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304711
iTunes "enhances" the sound of your audio files by increasing the treble and bass response, depending on how you set the slider. Think of it kind of like the "Loudness" button found on an old home stereo system, but adjustable. If you move the slider toward the "high" end, iTunes boosts more of the equalization, meaning things will generally sound punchier and crisper. If you move it towards the "low" end, iTunes will decrease the same frequencies.

  • Does Itunes sound enhancer affect Ipod sound?

I just purchased a Ipod video. And I think the sound quality has too much of a 'surround' sound. My EQ is off. Will adjusting the sound enhancer in itunes help minimize the 'surround' sound on my Ipod?

    No, it's for iTunes only.

  • Using the sound enhancer with the preset equalizer settings

  • GS70 2QE nahimic sound

The new Nahimic sound software appeared on the support page for my GS70 2QE, so I installed it wanting to try it out.
However it does not work. It does launch when Windows starts, but I cannot access it's GUI. I uninstalled the Creative soundblaster software that came previously with the models but even then it does not seem to function.
Anybody else has this problem? any way to solve it?
    thanks for your help.

I wiped my system. Did a clean install, and updated everything including my BIOS again, just to be sure. Now I have the Nahimic software working but not the SB HC 2 software. I have the same issue as cmplieger where I'm told that "No supported audio device available." I think cmplieger is correct that the BIOS flash which allowed the Nahimic support broke the SB HC 2 support. I haven't tried flashing back to the old BIOS as I already have SoundBlaster E-series software running for use with my headphone. Unlike cmplieger my Nahimic software can modify the sound of my built in speakers. It certainly isn't as feature-rich as the SB HC 2 software, but it can improve the sound experience. Note I say experience and not quality. Anyhow, my guess is if you flashed the new BIOS for your GT80 and SB HC 2 still works, Nahimic won't and vice versa. I hope MSI address the issue and allows a choice or both to work.
What I'd really like is the benefit I was promised during registration: email updates for new software, BIOS, and drivers. I've yet to see such an email, and it be nice not to worry about actively managing things such as BIOS updates.  It be great if I received an email saying something along the lines of "In preparation of Windows 10 we have new downloads available for your MSI GS70 XXXX. These include BIOS and new Nahimic software. Read more about Nahmic at www.Nahimic.com to see all it has to offer. Meanwhile Support for SB HC 2 will be temporally suspendered as we work out how to best bring the experience to you with Windows 10 compatibility." Then the email should include instructions and direct links to what I need to be up to date. Simple, not to hard to implement, and I'm sure greatly appreciated by many...  I guess that is to much to expect? Thankfully we do have this forum to come to for support. Thanks guys!

  • Itunes 'Sound Enhancer' questions.

Will turning this option off revert the sound to exactly as it was before or does Sound Enhancer permanently alter/change the file itself, even in the slightest most miniscule way?

Sound Enhancer does not modify the .mp3 or .wav file or any other file for that matter. If you are talking about the one in the playback preference pannel, it only modifies playback sound which can be compared to an equalizer. The exact impact of the output sound is still unclear (how they get the sound that comes out I mean) but the file is 100% unchanged and unchecking the box will bring back playback to normal. Think of it as an equalizer but with better functions and better effects. Like I said, people still don't seem to know what effects the Enhancer modifies on output.
Feel free to try it its 100% reversible.
