Nakisa query related to photos getting extracted from Sharepoint

1.       Is it possible to store photos in a Microsoft sharepoint environment and link them from there to Nakisa & ESS/MSS.
2.       If possible what are the effort/cost to do that?
3.       If not possible what are the reasons?
4.     If we upload the photos via XSS, storing photos on Livelink and from there to Nakisa is there any licence implications

Ravindra.
I'm afraid I can't answer all of your questions, but hopefully there's something useful in my responses below...
1.       Is it possible to store photos in a Microsoft sharepoint environment and link them from there to Nakisa & ESS/MSS.
Officially, Nakisa applications are configured to access employee portrait images stored in a local folder or directly from SAP (ref. Admin Guides for Nakisa apps).  However if the user has access to the images stored in Microsoft SharePoint via a direct URL then technically this should be achievable.
With regards to ESS/MSS I'm afraid that isn't an area I've a great deal of technical familiarity with so I really wouldn't know.
2.       If possible what are the effort/cost to do that?
Assuming the images are stored as JPG files with a file name of the PERNR of the employee and they are stored using a consistent base for the URL (by that I mean the URL for each employee would only vary in the filename/PERNR ... the rest of the URL is always the same), I think it would just be a case of amending the XSL for the relevant views and details panels.  In terms of effort (to configure, test and document) I would expect this to be of the order of hours rather than days or weeks.  But that is with all of the assumptions above, that the person doing it understands the underlying architecture of the configuration (in particular the relevant XSL) and at the end of the day this is just a ballpark sort of estimate.
With regard to ESS/MSS I don't know how much effort it would be to integrate the images.
3.       If not possible what are the reasons?
If the URLs and file names were more variable then the complexity may be more than is reasonable to handle in XSL.  At worst, you could approach Nakisa to build a custom solution to do this.  The constraints would of course be time (including availability of resource) and money.
Again I've no idea with regards to ESS/MSS.
4.     If we upload the photos via XSS, storing photos on Livelink and from there to Nakisa is there any licence implications.
I'm afraid I've no idea of licensing implications with regards to these.  Since this is again not something directly supported in configuration out of the box by Nakisa I would say that there's nothing on the Nakisa side.  I would suggest that the Livelink licensing should be your focus for researching this question as that would in effect be the host system.
You may also want to take a look at the Nakisa Orgchart 4.0 SP1 add photos post from earlier this month as this also referenced Livelink.  Perhaps Jaco Ellis who asked that particular question would have some additional insight into any licensing implications?

Stephen.

    iPhoto 9.6 cannot open iPhoto Libraries on CD/DVD. The iPhoto Library needs to be on a writable storage.  Copy the iPhoto library from the disk to a folder in your Pictures folder. And then run the iPhoto Library Upgrader on that copy, see this link:  iPhoto '11: About the Library Upgrader

  • Get data from Sharepoint site in different farm using webservice, and current site using claims mode authentication.

    Hi ,
    I have a site that runs on   Claims Mode (  NTLM) . That site has a web part that needs to show the data from any  sharepoint farm, SharePoitn  2010 , or 2007 or 2003.
    I am getting 401 unauthorized when I   try to get data from webservice running in sharePoint context.
    But when I run the same code in  Windows Console application  then it is giving no error.
    What I doubt is that this issue is due to the reason that I have  set
    claims mode authentication.
    Because same code is running  in different farm in a site that is configured  using windows authentication.

    So generally speaking, you're talking about a VERY long running topic of authentication methods... and generally speaking, in the world of Windows, the only long running authentication options have been:
    - NTLM (limited to one hop)
    - Kerberos (unlimited hops)
    - Application level authentication (ex: SQL auth, also, no hops)
    Recently, Microsoft has been investing in Claims Based Auth... and I fully expect claims to start working their way into other systems (previously starting to work into Windows via the CardSpace technology, but also in other ways such as Win8's ability to
    log in with a LiveID)... but building a new authentication method into ALL applications is a VERY long process, and the complexity of claims adds a LOT of consideration (claims from the same AD can look VERY different depending on the STS, so lots of questions
    around things like bridging claims).
    So as far your SP auth needs...
    IF both applications are CLAIMS AWARE, then you MAY be able to use claims (which support unlimited hops)... but that's just not very likely yet (and will probably take another 5-10 years to be available across the entire enterprise)... otherwise, KERBEROS
    Outside of the Microsoft world... KERBEROS is open spec, so is supported by other systems (such as authenticating to linux)... claims based auth is also open spec, but again, still new... there are a few other options (LDAP, etc), but none that are native
    to Windows (so you rely on things like third party auth modules for Windows, which Novell has done for DECADES with NDS and eDir)
    And again, SharePoint can convert claims to Kerberos using the C2WTS... which MS uses internally for things Excel Services connecting to a backend SQL server... but it DOES require the Kerb and C2WTS configuration.
    if you're having issues using Kerb auth... then it sounds like Kerb isn't configured correctly... and Kerb is a PAIN to configure (whitepaper for SP Kerb is ~100 pages long)... IIS (and SharePoint) also has the added benefit of failing over to NTLM if Kerb
    fails (and you shouldn't disable this behavior, since it'll break other settings elsewhere)

  • CAML query to get itemcount from sharepoint list based on Month/Year

    Hi,
     I have a SharePoint list with date field. Now I wan't to get item count for each month in Fiscal Year using SP Services. Hence, need a CAML query to get item count . Any suggestions will be appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance.

    When you have your month, you'll need to calculate the first day and last day of the month and convert them to the ISO using to ISOString.
    startDate.toISOString();
    endDate.toISOString();
    function searchList(startDate, endDate) {
        var nURL = "/_vti_bin/lists.asmx";

  • How to get listitems from Sharepoint online using REST based on webid and listid

    In my JavaScript code I have a webid and a listid in a sharepoint form page.
    I'm trying to construct a rest url to get to the infomation in the list.
    I cant figure out the url to get at the lists items.
    My WebID is 33213c5c-30e5-468c-87f7-52b48a7b6a3d
    My ListID is d38444af-dd7f-404b-9e75-b1f8c6cdee7d
    When i go to
    https://xxx.sharepoint.com/_api/web/webs?$expand=lists,lists/items&$filter=(iD eq guid'33213c5c-30e5-468c-87f7-52b48a7b6a3d' )
    I get all items in all lists on the specified web. But when i go to
    https://xxx.sharepoint.com/_api/web/webs?$expand=lists,lists/items&$filter=((iD eq guid'33213c5c-30e5-468c-87f7-52b48a7b6a3d' ) and (Lists/Id eq guid'd38444af-dd7f-404b-9e75-b1f8c6cdee7d'
    Sharepoint complains saying  'Field or property "Id" does not exist'
    I can probably do this using multiple requests (get the web, then get the list), but the component I am working on needs a single url to access the listitems,
    Can this be done?

    Unfortunately, this cannot be done. The best you can do is to bring back the lists collection of the sub site.
    https://xxx.sharepoint.com/_api/web/webs&$filter=(id eq guid '33213c5c-30e5-468c-87f7-52b48a7b6a3d')&$select=lists&$expand=lists
    The unfortunate part here is that the webs (web collection) object does not implement an indexer. Why? Don't know. It should just like the lists (list collection).
    https://xxx.sharepoint.com/_api/web/webs(guid '33213c5c-30e5-468c-87f7-52b48a7b6a3d')/lists(guid'd38444af-dd7f-404b-9e75-b1f8c6cdee7d');
    With a web collection indexer it would be that easy.

  • How to get result from SharePoint site which is on different server.

    We have two SharePoint site on two different server. We want to create search which will search and display content of one one site on other site.
    If this is possible then pls let me know how can I do this. If you have any links/blogs pls share with me.
    Rushikesh_Khadtare

    Hi  ,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you need to create search which will search and display content of one site on other site.
    For your issue, you can deploy a "search center" site in each web app.
    Any time you perform a search from a search center site, it by default searches all content (using All Content scope) in your index, regardless of web app.
    Take the following steps:
    * Go to  Search Service Application
    * Click Content Sources
    * Select Edit from the Local Office SharePoint Server sites
    * In Start Addresses add the urls of all web applications that you want this content source to crawl
    After a crawl you should now be able to search/find data from all web applications.

  • Get Items from limited list by providing username and password - C#

    I'm using the code at the following link in order to get items from SharePoint list,
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/microsoft.sharepoint.client.list.getitems.aspx
    I have a SharePoint list that limited to certain users.
    How can I provide by this code (or else) a username and password and log in as a different user who has access to this SharePoint list and get its items?
    Thanks!

    Sorry, previous post didn't see you were using client object model.
    Service.Credentials = (create new credentials passing username and password)
    ICredentials credentials = new NetworkCredential("Joe",SecurelyStoredPassword,"mydomain");
                math.Credentials = credentials
    Thanks!
    Actually, my full question already posted here:
    http:  //sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/84917/c-why-impersonation-is-expired-while-clientcontext-executequery-is-performe
    but I was unable to post it here as a new user (images, links, lenght ...) even the link above I was need to insert spaces after "http:" to be able to post it.
    Anyway, I don't know "client object model." am I using it?
    You mentioned "Service.Credentials", What do you mean "Service"?

  • Hybrid Search not working from SharePoint 2013 Online to SharePoint On-premise

    Hi,
    I have setup a SharePoint 2013 Hybrid environment setup with the following –
    Windows Server 2012 R2
    SharePoint Server 2013 with April 2014 CU
    SQL Server 2014
    ADFS 3.0 using SSO with Web proxy and DirSync
    SharePoint 2013 Online tenant on Office 365 Enterprise Subscription
    I have configured the Hybrid following the article
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj838715(v=office.15).aspx and configured Hybrid Search. The hybrid environment was working fine including Search both ways initially
    but after upgrade to April CU 2014 (along with upgrade to SQL 2014 from SQL 2012), now search from SharePoint online to SharePoint in-Premise is not working anymore.
    I am still able login with the federated IDs in both the environments and get results from SharePoint Online in SharePoint in-Premise environment.
    I have already tried most of the troubleshooting steps mentioned at
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn518363(v=office.15).aspx
    Now every time, we perform a search in our SharePoint Online site, which is configured to show hybrid results from SharePoint in-premise, we don’t get results from in-premise and instead we see the following error logged in SharePoint
    In-premise Web Server –
    Error - An exception occurred when trying to issue security token: Exception of type 'System.ArgumentException' was thrown. Parameter name: value.
    And ULS log shows the following – Even though the message seems apparent that there could be duplicate users in user profile Application, but that’s not the case. There are just 2 unique users added there.

    I know precisely what makes the SharePoint throw the ArgumentException, but I can't yet figure out how to influence this behavior. I will respond back if I find out, but I hope the following will create an "aha moment" for someone.
    So the SP Online issues an OAuth request to the on-prem SharePoint. If verbose logging is on for the Claims category, you may see how it reads these claims. One of them is this:
    Claim['nii':'urn:federation:microsoftonline']
    Using this claim and the nameid claim the profile mapping logic then reports the following immediately before the error (Set User Profiles to verbose to see this):
    Creating encoded sid for nameid '100300008b29cb02' and nameidissuer 'urn:federation:microsoftonline'
    Inspecting this logic with Reflector, I can see that it then attempts to infer the identity provider type from the nameidissuer, and throws the exception, because "federation" is not what it expects. It expects either "windows", "trusted" or "forms" for
    the provider type.
    So the user's actions to lead to this error were as follows:
    1. I connect to the Office 365 portal, and get redirected to my ADFS server (same domain for the ADFS server, on-prem SharePoint, and the user accounts).
    2. I log on, and from the SP Online portal I issue my search query using a result source configured as per the Hybrid TechNet guidance.
    So thanks in advance for any suggestions, on what it could be.

  • Read data from SharePoint using ABAP sql command

    We need to read data from a SharePoint site and update the sap object services with the information. There is a lot of information on how to put data into Sharepoint from SAP, but we need to get data from SharePoint and put it into SAP. Is it possible to retrieve data from SharePoint using sql command in ABAP program? If it is possible, what do we need to do to have SAP recognize where to get the SharePoint data?
    Richard Newman

    Hi Newman,
    You can use native sql in your abap code to read data from SharePoint's database. But I would suggest you to generate a SharePoint webservice which can provide you the neccessary data so that you can consume this webservice in ABAP
    (Will be quite faster than native sql).
