Nam 3 upgrade

I installed the NAM3 and upgraded to 5.1 (2). I tried to apply the patches available for the image but it said its not a valid image for this platform.

Any ideas why this would say its not a valid image for the platform if Im on the 5.1-2 already ?

You're using the upgrade command, but in this instance its a patch so you need to use the patch command to load the specific patch
1. Download the patch onto a ftp server. Use the binary mode to download, not
ASCII. Verify that your local file MD5 checksum matches the one listed on CCO.
No modifications to the file are necessary after downloading. The file does not
require unzipping.
2. Login to the NAM CLI as the user root.
3. Run the patch command and specify the correct patch file URL. Use the
command "patch help" for the syntax of this command.
   Note 1: If you see an error message such as "Verification Failed, the patch
   you are trying to apply is not valid or not compatible with the release" it
   might be caused by an incorrect system-time setting on the NAM and/or
   Supervisor.  Adjust the system-time on the Supervisor or configure the NAM
   to use NTP and try the patch command again.
   Note 2: Sometimes during the "Stopping services" part of applying the
   patch, a status of "FAILED" may appear instead of "OK". For example, "FAILED"
   might appear when stopping the config_monitor process.  This message is not a
   problem as long as the message "Patch applied successfully" message
   eventually appears.  Reboot the NAM if this occurs.
4. The NAM will reboot and come up to a login prompt.
5. To see whether the patch is installed correctly, type the command
"show patches" in the NAM CLI.

    I was running into the same issue, I believe this has something to do with the way tftp works on this device.  When I copied the application binary to an FTP server and downloaded onto the device the process completed successfully:

  • NAM Upgrade Problem

    While I was upgrading NAM 2 from ver 3.6 to 4.1 I found that the connection is (Flapping) after the upgrade, then I found the following error on the core. (The NAM module is restarting)
    000947: 12w1d: %SNMP-5-MODULETRAP: Module 2 [Down] Trap
    000948: 12w1d: %OIR-SP-3-PWRCYCLE: Card in module 2, is being power-cycled 'off (Module not responding to Keep Alive polling)'
    000949: 12w1d: %C6KPWR-SP-4-DISABLED: power to module in slot 2 set off (Module not responding to Keep Alive polling)
    After checking the error meaning, I have found that the workaround is to restart the module many times!!
    But the problem never solved, the problem only is resolved if I restarted the NAM in the (cf:1) mode, otherwise the module keeps restarting.
    The following are the output of the show ver:

    Experts,
    I am very much confused regarding the upgrading of SAP NW PI 7.1 EHP1. Following is the scenario:

Should i need to update my PI 7.1 EHP1 or it already has the updated software.
    Can anyone help me in clearing this confusion.
    Thanks,

  • Error message upgrading Sun One Web Server

    We currently use Sun One Web Server SP 4. I have a RSA Cleartrust Agent to install that specifies SP 5. I downloaded SP 7. When I try to install it I receive the following message - "A previous release of the Web Server has been detected in the server root. Please select a different server root." I tried stoppping all the services, then installing, same result. The documentation says to run the install, it would detect the previous version and install. Do I have to uninstall the previous version? I do not want to do that. Thanks in advance.

    Please identify your desktop PC with its product name and product number.
    If you are upgrading and want the upgrade to work right the first time:
    1) Only replace memory in pairs of guaranteed compatible memory modules from well known manufacturers.
    2) Find compatible memory by searching online with your desktop PC's complete product name + upgrade memory as keywords in the search.
    4) Do not use the memory specifications from mtherboard specifications to match with memory modules that are sold by a vendor. Using this crapshoot method is a financial risk. It definitely increases chances of  a PC not even passing the POST (power on self test) of the BIOS during the PC's boot process. It does not take advantage of a manufacturer's big selling point...Guaranteed compatibility.

  • Live upgrade, zones and separate mount points

    Hi,
    We have a quite large zone environment based on Solaris zones located on VxVM/VxFS. I know this is a doubtful configuration but the choice was made before i got here and now we need to upgrade the environment. Veritas guides says its fine to locate zones on Veritas, but i am not sure Sun would approve.
    Anyway, sine all zones are located on a separate volume i want to create a new one for every zonepath, something like:
    lucreate -n upgrade -m /:/dev/dsk/c2t1d0s0:ufs -m /zones/zone01:/dev/vx/dsk/zone01/zone01_root02:ufs
    This works fine for a while after integration of 6620317 in 121430-23, but when the new environment is to be activated i get errors, see below[1]. If i look at the command executed by lucreate i see that the global root is mounted, but by zoneroot does not seem to have been mounted before the call to zoneadmd[2]. While this might not be a supported configuration, VxVM seems to be supported and i think that there are a few people out there with zonepaths on separate disks. Live upgrade probably has no issues with the files moved from the VxFS filesystem, that parts has been done, but the new filesystems does not seem to get mounted correctly.
    Anyone tried something similar or has any idea on how to solve this?
    The system is a s10s_u4 with kernel 127111-10 and Live upgrade patches 121430-25, 121428-10.

    I updated my manual pages got a reminder of the zonename field for the -m option of lucreate. But i still have no success, if i have the root filesystem for the zone in vfstab it tries to mount it the current root into the alternate BE:
    # lucreate -u upgrade -m /:/dev/dsk/c2t1d0s0:ufs -m /:/dev/vx/dsk/zone01/zone01_rootvol02:ufs:zone01

    If i tried to do the same but with the filesystem removed from vfstab, then i get another error:
    <snip>
    Creating boot environment <upgrade>.
    Creating file systems on boot environment <upgrade>.
    Creating <ufs> file system for </> in zone <global> on </dev/dsk/c2t1d0s0>.

    If i let lucreate copy the zonepath to the same slice as the OS, the creation of the BE works fine:
    # lucreate -n upgrade -m /:/dev/dsk/c2t1d0s0:ufs

    Hi,
    There are a couple of things to take into consideration with this upgrade:
    _ NAM 5.0 does not support any upgrades from the NAM 3.x or NAM 4.x software releases on NAM devices.
    You will need to do a fresh install of NAM 5.0. NAM
    5.0 has a new architecture that will cause you to lose the configuration you
    have currently set in your NAM. Cisco highly recommends that you back up
    your current configuration in case you want to go back to a previous version
    of NAM, where you can restore the saved configuration.
    To back up your current configuration, from the NAM command line enter a
    config upload command like the following:
    config upload ftp://server/path
    _ Also be aware that you need to have a minimum version for the NAM BIOS and Maintenance Image:
    BIOS: 4.0-Rel 6.0.9 or later
    Maint Image: 2.1(3)or later.
    You can easily check that with the 'show ver' command in the NAM CLI.
    _ You can only do a fresh install of NAM 5.0.
    Please follow these steps to perform the upgrade:
    _ Access your switch CLI and enter the following command:
    ' hw-module module reset cf:1'
    _ Wait until the NAM boots up and access the CLI: 'session slot proc 1'
    _ Upgrade the NAM with the following command: 'upgrade ftp-url --install'
    _ Once the upgrade is completed exit the NAM CLI and from the switch enter the command:
    'hw-module mod reset hdd:1'
    I hope this helps.
    Andres.

  • Help needed ... Default tables in XML Schema

    Hi all,
    I got a xsd definition here that does not do as I say ... g
    Though I specified default tables for Cisco_Card and Cisco_LogicalModule, not only the default tables with the names I specified are created but also additionally tables with the default name that is used if no name is specified.
    Actually I am trying to tell it defaultTable="" so no table at all is created. But there are always two tables: Cisco_Card1529_TAB and Cisco_LogicalModule1501_TAB.
    Can someone explain to me what I am doing wrong here?
    Thanks,
    Steff

    When we encounter recursive structures we break the recursion by storing the recursive elements out-out-line is a seperate table and using a pointer (REF XMLType) column to track the relationionship..
    You can name these elements by putting an xdb:SQLInline="false" and xdb:defaultTable="YOUR_TABLE_NAME" on the recursive element.
    If you need to query accross these elements I would strongly advise upgrading to 10.2.x. In 10.2.x we implemented a number of optimizations for dealing with storing and querying this kind of structure.

  • Using Setup Assistant to migrate a 10.4.11 server to a new SL server, and have login panel before hardly anything has happened

    We have a 10.4.11 server, running on an antique 1.0GHz G4 Xserve.  We have purchased a mac mini server to replace it.  The Xserve only runs 3 services:  AFP, FTP and Open Directory (Master).  (We are considering reconfiguring the new server as an Open Directory replicate to another OD master on the network later.)
    I've RAIDed the two disks on the mini and reinstalled the OS.  It restarted, went through the language setup, put in the serial number, etc., and got to the "Transfer the information from an existing server" choice.  At that point, went and made a SuperDuper dmg of the 10.4.11 on a firewire drive.  When that was done, moved the firewire drive to the mini server, it appeared in the box as a choice for migrating from, selected it, and hit "continue."  It went through a couple of automatic screens with progress bars -- but it only took maybe 3-5 minutes, and then the machine rebooted.  It took nowhere NEAR long enough to have copied the data over -- the clone took nearly 3 hours to create, and it's running through a firewire 400.
    So now the machine is sitting there, with the login panel up.  The firewire drive with the Xserve's image on it is still plugged in, and the blue light on the front of the drive is flashing like crazy.  What the heck?  I can't imagine that I should be logging in to the new server if it is in the middle of transferring data over!  Is it copying data?  If yes, how am I going to know when it's done?  If not, what the heck is it doing and what do I have to do to get it to copy the data over?

    Called Apple.  They said, "Oh, yeah, Setup Assistant doesn't actually work from 10.4 to 10.6"  (So WHY don't they fix it?  Why don't they take the manual off of the web site?)
    Moved on to Plan B.  Hooked the firewire drive to a G5 mac.  Stuck the 10.5 server disk into the G5, and upgraded the firwire drive to 10.5 server.  Booted off of it, changed the IP address and name, upgraded to 10.5.8, tested that our applications all worked.  Then hooked the firewire drive back up to the mini, ran through the 10.6 server initialization, and at the end selected the firewire drive as the "source" for “Transfer the information from an existing server”.  It went through the same as it did when it was at 10.4 -- did a few quick things and then rebooted and none of the data had transferred.
    Now we are at Plan C.  Booted the mini off of the server install disk, and tried to upgrade the firewire drive to 10.6.  Told us we can't because it needs to be GUID.  After saying a few appropriate obscenities, got another firewire drive, formatted it GUID and are now doing a copy from the upgraded-to-10.5 firewire drive to the formatted-GUID drive.
    Plan D is to upgrade the new drive to 10.6 server, try to boot the mini off of it, and if it works, use DiskUtility to copy it to the mini's internal RAID.

  • Advanced Task with GET request

    Dear all,
    If I create a new Advanced Task into the DMM whith "Request Type GET" like:
    Name:Upgrade status
    Description: Upgrade status
    Request Type: GET
    Request: p=init.upg_*
    How can use this new task? When I submit this task to a DMP or group of DMPs where can I see the output of the command?
    I think, the problem appear with all of the GET request couse I don't know where is the output.
    If I use the browser like https://X.X.X.X/get_param?p=init.upg_* the output appear in the window, but how works this if I create a New Advanced Task in the DMM and send it to a DMP or group od DMPs?
    Thanks

    I can't think of anyway to get those parameters back into anything useful using Advanced Tasks.
    Via a shell script outside of the DMM - yes.
    Inside of the DMM - My guess is you are out of luck.
    Maybe someone else can confirm

  • Formating Hard Drive

    My first problem with I tunes is changing the user name, upgraded my computer from desk top to lap top. Since I changed computers I could not get my original I Tunes setup on my new computer. All of the songs, movies and prod cast could not be transferred to another I Tune setup.
    I lost all of my songs and had to create another set on songs and now my hard drive had to be reformatted and guess what I lost everything again.
    Can’t we come up with a better way of transferring information with I Tunes?????

    My first problem with I tunes is changing the user name
    What/where is this user name you are changing?
    Can’t we come up with a better way of transferring information with I Tunes?????
    Better than backing up to a hard drive then copying back?

  • Deploying newer version of application on to device.

    Hi All,
    I wnated to know that is it possible to deploy the newer version of your mobile application to mobile device via webconsole without deleting the older one.As for some minor changes made to application we have to delete the old version to deploy the newer version.Is it possible via some mechanism like Addon...
    please help.
    Thanks
    Regards
    Devendra

    Hi Devendra
       You cannot deploy a newer version of an application when the older one still exists on the client. But you have mentioned that only few minor changes have been done to the application. For example let me assume that you have changed some code which was included in the jar file of the applicaiton.  This jar file always resides in the WEB-INF/lib folder to the applicaiton.  You just want to replace this jar file in the older application instead of deleting the application completely.  So the solution is to do this is to create a client installer archive which is nothing but an addon.  Please refer to the following documention about the <b><i>Client Installer</i></b> http://aiokeh.wdf.sap.corp:50000/SAPIKS2/contentShow.sap?_SCLASS=IWB_STRUCT&_SLOIO=6B5332E9145D0E469F134F7E7E04A34D&TMP_IWB_TASK=PREVIEW2&RELEASE=667&LANGUAGE=EN&_SEQNUM=144&_LOIO=43250E67B6140B25E10000000A1553F6&_CLASS=IWB_EXTHLP
    or an alternate link is http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/3a/b834418b718739e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm or even refer to the MI Installation Guide.
    Once you have referred to the documentation you would know how to create a install.xml file and what are the tags contained in them.  Please make sure the MANIFEST.MF file contains an entry called <i><b>PatchArchive:X</b></i>. A sample xml for this problem would look like this.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <ARCHIVE name="Upgrade Application" description="Installer" uimode="full">
    <PACKAGE name="MI25" description="New Jar file for application">
    <TASK name="Delete old files">
    <DELETE targetfolder="%MI_HOME%/webapps/your app name/WEB-INF/lib" pattern="**" mi_running="false" />
    </TASK>
    <TASK name="Add new files">
    <COPY source="/app/" pattern="NewApp.jar" target="%MI_HOME%/webapps/your app name/WEB-INF/lib" mi_running="false" />
    </TASK>
    </PACKAGE>
    </ARCHIVE>
    If you create the xml correctly, this will definitely solve your problem
    Best Regards

  • Pages creates all these folders on network shared drives

    Our office has a ton of Macs all hardwired into gigabit ethernet. For years we've used worked with Pages, Numbers and Keynote files directly off a central server and it's always done a great job. Since upgrading to Pages 5.x every single time we open any Pages file it creates a folder with an idential name plus ".pages" next to each file. This folder seems to contain usless data that neither Pages 5 nor Pages 4 recognizes, and deleting the folders doesn't affect the original file at all they still open fine. This is really SUPER annoying and is flooding our servers with all kinds of usless data.
    What is going on here and how can this be fixed? Is anyone else experiencing this? Thanks in advance...

    Pages ’08 and Pages v5+ documents are special Package bundle file objects. When they reside on the Mac, they appear in Finder as ordinary files. When they reside on external storage, they will appear as directories. Pages ’09 documents also appear as regular files, but are in fact a compressed zip of a folder.
    Your Mac server is likely running an older version of OS X than Maverick, and does not understand the exclusive new Pages v5 document format, or its proper presentation to end users, as would Mavericks.
    Choices:
    Export all Pages v5 documents to Pages ’09 v4.3 document format.Resume use /Applications/iWork ’09/Pages
    Before saving Pages v5 documents to server, compress them first.
    Right-click on the .pages document on your machine, then select Compress menu item.
    Creates foo.pages.zip which appears on remote server as this name
    Upgrade OS X Server to Mavericks Server
    Despite its progressive version number, Pages v5+ lacks substantial functionality from its Pages ’09 v4.3 antecedent, including an entire incompatible document format with other versions of Pages. You should consider it early beta software, and not a viable production release (as Apple marketing would have you believe).
