Name change of private desktopfolder erases content; how do I get it back?

Dear Mac users!
When I altered the name of my private desktopfolder slightly (the one with the house icon) in the MacHarddisc content window, I found out, that MacOs X also changed the content of this folder to reset it to default settings. I was not amused, but could not retrieve the content of the old folder any more (including all the desktopsettings etc.), at least not by switching back to the former name of the private desktop folder. Now my question: is there any way, to get that content back, or is it definitely lost? I have Mac OSX 10.3.9.

The following may help you understand about deleting photos from a library:
Deleting Photos from an iPhoto Library:
1 - from an Event or the Photos mode: select the photo(s) and use the Delete key to move the photos to the trash bin. Then empty the iPhoto Trash bin as follows:
2 - from an album, smart album, book, slideshow, card, etc.: select the photo(s) and use the key combination of Command+Option+Delete to move the photos to the trash bin. Then empty the trash bin as above.
NOTE: deleting a photo from an album, slideshow, book, etc., with only the Delete key only deletes that photo from that item. Deleting a photo from an Event deletes ALL occurences of that photo in the library.

First imovie project suddenly erased. How do i get it back??

I just made my first imovie project and when I was done I made sure to finalize it. A day later, I tried to reopen it through Finder-->Movies-->iMovie Projects-->My First Project. I dragged the "my first project" onto my desktop so itd be easier to get to and then i opened it with iMovie. I double clicked the project and all of a sudden it wasn't there. It was erased. How do i get it back?? I literally pressed nothing else and now cannot find it anywhere on my computer. Help please!!

That's not optional.
Projects can only be handled INSIDE the app.
You should find your Project listed in your iMovies Project Library…

I am not up on the terminology. The second line on my screen has the forward and back arrows followed by "Go to a web Site" in a box followed by a second box that used to read Google but now reads Ask.com. I want to change this back to Google.

I mistakenly erased SAFARI, how do I get it back?

I erased SAFARI by mistake; how do I get it back? Do I have to reset ? Where does Itunes keep the safety copy to be used if I reset?

Safari can't be erase from iPhone.
It has probably been moved to another folder.
Keep looking for it in all of the folders.

Why were the older entries in my calendar erased and how do I get them back?

All of the personal entries into my calendar are gone. The only entries still appearing are all Holidays and all personal entries for the last quarter of 2014. All entries made for the rest of 2014 are gone. I checked The Cloud and they're not there either. Why did they automatically delete and how do I get them back?

Thanks so much, you are absolutely correct. I must admit that I didn't realize that meant past entries on the calender were swept away after a certain period of time.
The setting is fixed now (thanks to you), but is there any was of retrieving the data that was erased ??

Exactly what did you do? Is it in your applications folder (if so launch it and right click on tthe icon in the DOCK and select keep in Dock) -- if not yu need to reinstall from the original source (system restore disks, iLife disk or the App store)

I plugged in my nano to transfer all my songs to ITunes and everything was erased..how do I get them back

Yeah, unless she backs up the iphone to the itunes on her original computer before syncing again. Backing up will create a backup of the camera roll, so this shouldn't be a problem.

I plugged in my iphone to my mom's computer for charging and all my pictures are now on her computer and off my iphone.
The photos imported by her Mom's computer were deleted from the Camera Roll after the import process was completed. If she updates her iPhone's backup now, it will be updated with a blank Camera Roll on the iPhone.
The question was how to get the photos back onto the phone. What I said would have worked.
And what you provided would have transferred these photos back to her iPhone in the Photo Library preventing her from importing the photos with her computer. And if there are any photos on her iPhone that were transferred from her computer or regardless, the photos transferred from her Mom's computer to her iPhone via the iTunes sync process will be deleted from her iPhone's Photo Library as the first step when selecting to transfer any photos from her computer to her iPhone.

- They can't be deleted. However, some can be hidden by Restrictions. Go to Settings>General>Restrictions
- Have you tried using the Spotlight search? Maybe you just can't find them
- Reset the iPod. Nothing is lost

otherwise i have to accept to restore all (includes notes, calendar..etc) and that would overwrite everything on my IPod.
while I haven't backed up my IPod since 40 days, so I have more info in my notes and claendar in my ipod than the back up

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then see if you can redownload your past music purchases (those that are still in the store) via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you are not in a country where music can currently be re-downloaded, then have you not got it on your computer and/or on a backup ? If not then you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they will grant you a re-download : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

The CONTENT tab has NOTHING in it, how can I get it back to change settings?

I suspect unless he had some items in iCloud backup then they are gone. Connecting an iPhone to a different library from that to which it was previously connected will result in the device asking if you want to erase it.
