Name that application! (and tell me if there's any hope of using it again)
Hi all,
I have some old files from my teenage years (circa 1990s) backed up on my whiz-bang modern-day Mac. I've been trying to remember the name of the application that created these files. I think the program had "Storybook" in its name, and it was basically page layout software let you create your own illustrated stories using stock art. Kind of like a precursor to Adobe InDesign, but for kids. At least, I think that's what it did. And it may or may not have involved animation. I really can't remember.
Here is the icon that I placed on my folder, which I believe is the same icon as the application:
Anyone recognize it and know the name of the app? And if so, is there any way I can hope to open these files again, without purchasing an old machine that runs System 7 and tracking down floppy disks of the application?

I believe that is Storybook Weaver. Your best shot at rerunning it is probably fiddling around here...

Hi, I cannot restart or shut down my MAC and get the message Geneio.it installer is cancelling your request. Please shut down and retry. However, I cannot seem to exit that application and I have no idea where it came from. Thanks

About file quarantine in OS X
If you require anti-virus protection Thomas Reed recommends using Dr.Web Light from the App Store. It's free, and since it's from the App Store, it won't destabilize the system. If you prefer one of the better known commercial products, then Thomas recommends using Sophos.(Thank you to Thomas Reed for these recommendations.) Recently Got a Mac Book and was wondering if there is any software that Apple recommends to import my music/pics/video from my Iphone onto my computer. I no longer have the previous computer and if I sync my Iphone I'll lose everything.

You should be able to:
Backup the device to the new windows installation
Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup! (Windows tip). For a Mac use Time Machine or Carbon Copy Cloner.

I have a 15" MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (Early 2008) running OSX Lion 10.7.5.
I want to erase the Hard Drive, install Mountain Lion, and manually restore select applications and files.
Is there a known procedure to do this? Any tips or feedback?1. Make a backup, open App Store and purchase Mountain Lion. When its download finishes, close the installer and open Lion Diskmaker to create a bootable USB drive with Mountain Lion.
2. Press Option key while your Mac is starting, select the external drive and open Disk Utility.
3. Select Macintosh HD in the sidebar and erase the drive.
4. Close the window and install Mountain Lion -
I just bought a 5g iPod touch and was wondering if there were any ihomes out or coming out soon that are compatible with this device. I know there are adapters and cables you can purchase to use with your existing ihome but read the poor reviews on them and was scared away. I use my ihome very regularly and need this accessory to work with my new iPod. If you have any information on this, please help!

- go to settings>itunes & app store
- tap on your apple id
- select view apple id
- select payment information
- if you have the option none select it
- select done to the top right
- now try downloading the free app again -

Well it does detect the camera, under USB in the System Profiler it says "FaceTime-HD-camera (built-in)". But the image distortion.
Since you can't see the image, here's a description: it shows horizontal lines all over the place in the image, and the lines are quite tall and they contain part of the image but moved horizontally to the left or right, and in a different color as well. So for example you could see part of my face but there is a horizontal bar where my eyes are located in, and it is moved to the left so that my eyes are at the left of my face. I hope that made some sense...

Warranty and support are ONLY valid in the country of origin. The only exception is the EU where the entire EU is treated as one country.
If the device will be used in India, buy it in India.
An unlocked iPhone will work on any supported GSM carrier world wide. The LTE portion of a US purchased, unlocked iPhone is unlikely to work outside North America as it does not support the appropriate bands used in other countries. -

it's fine if you leave it on.......i keep mine turned on while travelling with my macbook in my laptop bag and have had no issues.
if however, you plan on running around or jogging - it's better to turn it off.
but leaving it on will not hurt it. -

Is there still any hope to have virtualization feature for my compaq 620 energy star notebook?
Dear HP Support,
it looks like that the motherboard of my compaq 620 energy star notebook doesn't support virtualization technology, even though replace the processor with one with virtualization feature, my notebook still can't have virtualization feature. moreover it is said the CPU socket type of notebook is soldiered to the motherboard, so the processor of notebook can't be replaced. if this is the case, it seems that i can't replace the processor of my notebook.
am i correct? is there still any hope to have virtualization feature for my compaq 620 energy star notebook?

View Solution.The processor can be upgraded; it is socketed. However, virtualization must be implemented in the motherboard and BIOS and without that, upgrading the processor will do no good. Which processor do you have?

See page 120....virtualization is possible on some models but I am going to assume only the models with a Core2 Duo processor. Celeron and Pentium Dual models use a different chipset on the motherboard so even if you put in a Virtualization capable CPU it would not work.
