Names, addresses and phone numbers have dissappeared from my list, favorites and tx mess

Suddenly I went to favorites and realize most of my phones have no names only phone numbers. I went to all contacts and they are not there. I lost names addresses and all info. I need to know if is still there? in the memory? or I need to do it all over again.

Try importing your contact list from Verizon Backup Assist.
If you do not have that, then upload them from your saved contacts in your computer.
If you do not have that, then try to restore your backed up phone data from a previous backup on itunes.
If you still have none of those, then yeah. You're SOL and will have to manually insert everything. I recommend afterwards getting the backup assist app and backing everything up so you don't have to do that ever again.

For the second time in two weeks, my Iphone 4s has lost all my contact names. The phone numbers still remain without any of the names, What is causing this to happen?

1. I assume that that suggests that it is not normal for a browser window to respond with minimisation? It is just weird when a window just disappears, no reason given (and since there is no obvious loss of internet it can take you by chance)

4. It has calmed down but there is absolutely no rhyme or reason to it. Forgot to mention that I had my first ever crash of Final Cut Pro since I have been using it nearly daily for four years. I even had Chrome crash on me in mid-upload (drat, drat, drat!). I don't click or plough on- I stop, think and consider. Hence me posting. Mavericks is just not as "smooth" as Snow Leopard to me.

Tell me about it! It is impossible, I came here to answer via the link in the emailed notification, was already signed out and signed in and was returned to the front page. Had to go back to my Mail, click the link again and this time, luckily, I was signed in. In other words- the session is impossibly short and signing in doesn't return you to the browser window you were but rather returns you to the front. Meh.

All dashes in phone numbers have disappeared

All dashes in contacts phone numbers have disappeared. Now when someone sends me a text only their number appears, no name. I also have a lock icon next to the battery life.

First try something simple like restarting or resetting your iPhone to see if this corrects the problem:
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPhone shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
If these don't work do you have any iTunes or iCloud backups which would contain the missing data? If so restore your phone using the most recent of those.

I have a Contact that I created called "Do Not Answer" All the phone numbers that I do not need to answer are placed within this contact.
I created a 10-Second-Silence ringtone that is used for this contact. Set Vibration to "None" and Text Tone to "None" as well. This will shut down any tones or vibrations if you receive a call or text.
Add any appropriate "NO' sign as a contact picture if you like as a visual reminder to not pick up the call. I use this:
Any callers listed under this 'Contact' will be eventually sent to your email without disturbing you. Other then that, there is no easy "Kill-file" within the iPhone of which I am aware.

Viewing addresses (with phone numbers) in Mail

Is it possible to view addresses with phone numbers by selecting the address button/icon in the toolbar in Mail? All I see are the email addresses and it would be convenient to see the phone numbers as well...

Hi macmac57. I don't memorize my numbers anymore, so I know how important it is to have all your contacts on your phone at all times. Did an update occur or a new application download when your contacts disappeared? Have you been backing up your device with your computer? You can try to restore your contacts from your last backup. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Are you syncing your iPhone between multiple computers? This can sometimes create issues with your contacts. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1474

Address Book Names Missing -- Just Phone Numbers

A friend of mine has an iPhone, but does not have MobileMe. She wanted to sync her contacts (which were on her iPhone) to her Mac's Address Book (which had no contacts).
After connecting her iPhone to iTunes, she went under the "Info" tab and selected the checkboxes to sync Address Book information. The problem with this was that there were no contacts in her Address Book. So now, her phone no longer shows the names of the people she added -- just their phone numbers!
Any way to find out these peoples' names?

One thing that might help.
If itunes did a back up of the iphone before the sync.
First open itunes preferences and go to the devices tab.
Check the box to disable automatic syncing for all iphones and ipods.
Now, she can try to right click, or control click, on the name of the iphone under devices in itunes and choose restore from back up.

If you share an Apple ID, both of your phone numbers should be linked to that ID. You should be able to use your phone number as well. My wife, my daughter and I all share an Apple ID for purchases, and we each text from our iOS devices using our own iPhone numbers.
When iOS 6 came out, you were able to link the phone number with your Apple ID to use for Messages and FaceTime. You will need to sign out of messages on all devices and then start the process all over again.

Opera stores and recalls commonly used name address and numbers. Why not FireFox?

Opera has a 'form filling' feature that stores and recalls many useful items like name, address, email addresses, numbers (like credit card numbers) and supports typing them by offering to complete an item from its stored data.
This facility is sorely needed in Firefox. The stored data is supplied by the user once and recalled by Opera as needed in filling out a form.

Open Firefox, bring up the browser options window, and go to the security tab. There is check box here that allows Firefox to remember search and form history. Be sure that box is checked, and that you allow Firefox to keep cookies and browsing history. This should enable Firefox to record your input data for later use.

AppleScript to add "1-" before Address Book phone numbers

I transferred all my Contacts from another program into OS X's Address Book, all phone numbers begin with the area code. I'd like to add "1-" before every area code. Is there an AppleScript to do this?

It's certainly possible to do via AppleScript, but you should probably ask your question in the AppleScript Forum if that's the path you want. You'll have a higher success rate there.

Does anyone know how to recover deleted contacts? For some reason contacts with only phone numbers have been deleted the rest of my contacts are there. It appears that I only have the contacts on my phone that i have on my laptop.

Does anyone know how to recover contacts that have been gone missing or have been deleted somehow. The contacts that are missing are the ones where I only had phone numbers (no email address). I know the importance of saving and updating your contacts. What type of phone do you have? If you are using Backup Assistant, you have the ability to sync the contacts between your laptop and phone. You will also be able to see if all your contacts are stored on the online portion of the application versus the phone itself. The contacts should be the same for both online and the phone.
