Namespace assumed on creation of weblogic's InitialContext
I have a SessionBean which I have bound into Weblogic(6.1)'s JNDI tree, by giving
"ejb/SessionTester" in its deployment descriptor. I thought that this bean would
then be bound into weblogic's java:/comp/env/ejb namespace as SessionTester.
It shows in the console as ejb/SessionTester.
So, I tried to access this bean from another SessionBean using new InitialContext().lookup(
"java:/comp/env/ejb/SessionTester" ). However, I get an error stating that "java:/comp/env"
was resolved, but "ejb" was unresolved. I thought this was the J2EE standard
way to bind EJBs, but I must be missing something.
Can someone please tell me the full JNDI namespace name of deployed EJBs?
yes, you lookup "ejb/SessionTester"
its whatever you put in weblogic-ejb.jar.xml

Problem with InitialContext Creation in Weblogic 5.1
Hi all,
We are using Weblogic 5.1 on Windows and Solaris.
We are trying to get InitialContext by the following code snippet.
This piece of code is in a Thread which is kicked off by a startup class.
The purpose of getting the initialContext here is to get a reference to a JMS
queue and to start listening for any messages that are put into the queue.
Hashtable htEnv = new Hashtable();
htEnv.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");
htEnv.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "t3://ip_address:port_number");
return new InitialContext(htEnv);
Sometimes this code takes almost 15 minutes to return an InitialContext.
Some other times it does not return at all, neither does it throw any exception.
In the application this code may get called multiple times simultaneously.
The problem is not consistent also.
There is one aspect that has been noticed. A number of InitialContext Objects
are initiated in the application and are not closed after use (As recommended
in the weblogic documentation).
The other observation is that the occurrence of the above explained problem is
very consistent when the executeThreadCount of the Weblogic server is low (<=
15). However, once the executeThread count is increased to a higher value (30
to 45) the occurrence of the problem is very rare.
Any information regarding this problem would be extremely helpful.
Thanks and Regards,
UdayThank you Bhagvan,
The creation of initial context in every call is a clear mistake. Caching has
to be implemented.
However , i need some more information about this ....
As you said the initial context is being created at every instant for a lookup
of any object in the jndi tree in the remote machine(I'll name this "machine A").
Simultaneously there is an attempt for creation of an InitialContext in the other
machine(call it "machine B") for the remote "machine A".
This is needed because "machine B" has to get a reference to a JMS queue on "machine
A" and start listening for any messages in it.
It is at this point that the InitialContext creation takes randomly long times
to return.
That is the call is made by populating a Hashtable with the properties of the
remote "machine A" like the IP address, Port number of "machine A" and using this
Hashtable as a parameter in "machine B" to get the InitialContext.
I was also wondering if there is a limit on the number of InitialContext objects
that can be opened at any instant in a server.
Could you please throw more light on these areas ........
Thanks and regards,
uday

Is there any particular reason why you want to get
a new initial context in every call ?? My suggestion
is to cache it based on the application parameters let us
say the client user or client's machine or any other parameter
which is unique for a client.
hope this helps.

Creation of Weblogic Domain in console mode not working
Hi All,
I've installed the Middleware home with ADF Runtime installer (Installer was 12.1.2.0.0). Now, I'm trying to create and configure a domain based on the JRF Template. I'm executing the following command from Putty
Step1. Navigate to MW_HOME/wlserver/common/bin
Step2. execute "./config.sh -mode=console"
Its throwing the following error :

Shiva Shankar B NWeblogic 12C (12.1.2 to be precise), currently does not support console mode Domain creation. It supports only GUI mode and Silent mode.
Possible solution to create a 12.1.2 Weblogic domain fully qualified enough to deploy ADF Applications :
1. Install Xming, and enable X11 forwarding on Putty
2. Silent Mode installation: The Configuration wizard. ./config.sh -mode=silent -silent_script=xyz . Yes, it needs a silent script, not silent.xml. I did not try this way and instead resorted to WLST. Still there are not enough blogs that clearly tell you how to install domain based on JRF template. I stumbled upon a similar OTN forum post.
Here is the bunch of WLST commands if anyone is interested

Error in domain creation in weblogic portal 10.3.4
Hi,
I am new to portal development. I've installed weblogic portal 10.3.4. I have created a domain and while creation, it asked for datasource selection, I changed the default data source(Derby) to Oracle. All the connection test were successful. I changed the URL in config.xml to jdbcracle:thin:@IP:PORT:SERVICE. But when I start the server, gives the following error. When I choose the default datasource(Derby), It's working fine.
Please help...

Weblogic Authentication: InitialContext Environment
"Hi,
I'm trying to implement authentication mechanism for
weblogic using a custom Security realm.
I'm getting first initialcontext without specifying
any credentials and performing jobs required for the
login operation (USER_A).
In subsequent calls, i'm setting security credentials
for getting initial context. This works fine, but from
now onwards whenever I try to get an unauthenticated
initialcontext, it assosicates credentials of previously
received initialcontext.
Hence in bean lookups being done in my weblogic server
itself, it gives authentication failiure if credentials
for user gets changed. i.e. While instantiating new InitialContext()
instead of default(guest) user, credentials of (USER_A) are
getting assosciated with it.
1) Does weblogic sets credentials in "System Properties"/"JNDI Environemnt"
while i'm getting initial context. Please note, i'm getting initial context
within same JVM in which weblogic server is running.
2) What if i explicitly set principal/credntials to guest/guest whenever i need
unauthenticated InitialContext.
3) What if i get an authenticated initial context from a servlet running
on a different weblogic server. Will that assosciate credentials of USER_A
in the other weblogic server(on which servlet is running).
TIA,%0The Pop up window appears during the login phase if the user clicks the back button or stop button or clicking some links on portal

Edited by: Vickram on May 25, 2011 12:35 PMHi Rohit Jaiswal
Thanks rohit for the quick response
just to understand
You mean to say " It is not an JVM crash "
Is that say JVM is having issue with Solaris OS. or crash in OS ?
We are not using native code in our application .
if possible elobrate the above .
we are in process to raise an oracle case

Variable namespaces in ALSB - creation -
Hi ,
Can anyone tell how to create variable namespaces in ALSB . What is the difference between Variable and UserDefined namespaces. I have searched the docs, and they explain only about Variable structures. Any help greatly appreciated. I am using ALSB 3.0 on WLS 10.
Edited by: kasi.s on 21-Nov-2009 04:47Hi Anuj,
Thanx for answering,
The variable namespaces apears in the same section(at the left) where the defined and default namespaces are located, and it seems to populate those from what you have difined in your WSDL but when you modify the WSDL this are not refreshed and you can have in there old namespaces not used any where else.
Kind Regards!! -

This is actually a newly installed server Kalyan.Any ways I did what you suggested ,still same issue no change.
By the way , even though the stack trace shows like that, I didn't deployed any application . I am first trying to create datasource , once every thing completed successfully then I can deploy the app.
Thanks a lot

BMT Entity Bean creation and Weblogic Workshop 8.1
I've looked everywhere I could to find information and an example on how to create a BMP entity bean using Workshop 8.1. Can someone please point me to an example or instructions on how to create this bean? I know how to do it outside of workshop, but there appears to be no option in workshop to specify that my entity bean is BMP and not CMP.
Thanks,
DarylHi Simon,
Are you referring to a 8.1 JWS Web Service ? If yes, unfortunately you cannot deploy this to WLS 9.1. You will need to wait for the 9.2 release and upgrade the web service to use the new JSR-181 annotations and then deploy. The upgrade tool will however take care of all the details associated with the upgrade.
It would be great if you could test the Workshop 9.2 Beta release to confirm if your service upgrade goes through fine.
Cheers

Hi,
When I try to InitialContext for JMS like below,

public static void main(String[] args) {
Context ctx = null;
Hashtable ht = new Hashtable();
ht.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");
ht.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "t3://localhost:7001");
try {
ctx = new InitialContext(ht);
catch (NamingException e) {

Could u kindly help me to check how to resolve this problem, is any jar version not correct? we just updated to 10.3.5 from 10.3.3Hi,
Sorry for the late response.
Make sure you have the correct jars in your client classpath. See Overview of Stand-alone Clients at http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/web.1111/e13717/basics.htm#SACLT122, and table 2-2 on the same page.
Note that if your client is running in the same JVM as a WL server, it normally should not specify any parameters for context creation (simply call "new InitialContext()" or obtain a context references from your EJB).
Tom
PS. It's cool to see a "ctx.close()". Far too often, folks forget to clean these suckers up. -
Weblogic domain creation fails with "The domain location must have write permission."
Hi
I am trying to install and setup weblogic in Linux RHEL 5.4
so I can test webservices . This is what i have done
WLS Zip Distribution for Oracle WebLogic Server 12.1.1.0 - downloaded & installed.
Followed the steps in README.
- extract contents of tar, setup home, run installation-configuration script, setup wls environment
Step 5:
Create a new WLS domain and start WLS. It is recommended that you create domains outside the MW_HOME.
$ mkdir /home/myhome/mydomain
$ cd /home/myhome/mydomain
$ $JAVA_HOME/bin/java $JAVA_OPTIONS -Xmx1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=128m weblogic.Server
-> returns the below error

Thankshi,
the binaries available for download are all packaged with 32bit JVM. Please have a look at the link below
WebLogic Server 12c (12.1.1), WebLogic Server 11g (10.3.6) and Previous Releases
It also has binaries for linux available. I am quoting from the site verbatim for your reference:
The following provides links to WebLogic Server 12.1.1 installers with 32-bit JVMs for Windows and
Linux, the generic installer that can be used on any supported platform, and the zip distribution. The
generic installer and the zip distribution do not include a JVM/JDK. For instructions on using the
generic installer, see this document.
In case you want to use your own latest version of JDK which can be a 32/64 bit version, you need to use the generic installer.
The error which you are getting is due to permissions. Make sure you have a dedicated user for installing weblogic and the necessary permissions are granted to the user(linux) to the installation directories. May be the script is trying to install java at a particular location on your machine and failing. Hence the above error is displayed.
Please have a look at the docs, you will find steps for weblogic installation on linux.
Thanks,
Souvik. -
Hi, everyone
I am a freshman .There is a problem to me .I need your help. thanks.
the detail as following:
InitialContext ctx=new InitialContext();
Object objRef = ctx.lookup("java:comp/env/Hello"); ---when i want to call ejb module and the application run to this line,it will throw a javax.naming.NamingException.
the detailed error info :
javax.naming.NoInitialContextException: Need to specify class name in environment or system property, or as an applet parameter, or in an application resource file: java.naming.factory.initial
at javax.naming.spi.NamingManager.getInitialContext(NamingManager.java:640)
at javax.naming.InitialContext.getDefaultInitCtx(InitialContext.java:243)
at javax.naming.InitialContext.getURLOrDefaultInitCtx(InitialContext.java:280)
at javax.naming.InitialContext.lookup(InitialContext.java:347)
at Test.main(Test.java:9)
others:
1.Weblogic is as ejb container.
2.There is no warning and error when I start weblogic server ,so i can confirm that there is no problem in the ejb module. And there is no problem in the file of "ejb-jar.xml" either.

question:
where is error? plz tell me, thanks very much.Check your weblogic-ejb-jar.xml file and add following...
I am assuming you are using weblogic 8.1, if not then refer respective .dtd and make change accordingly.
<weblogic-enterprise-bean>
<ejb-name>Hello</ejb-name>
<local-jndi-name>Hello</local-jndi-name>
</weblogic-enterprise-bean>
Following is the sample code for lookup...
Hashtable h = new Hashtable();
h.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");
h.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "t3://localhost:7001");
h.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "username");
h.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "password");
InitialContext initialContext = new InitialContext(h);
HelloLocalHome helloLocalHome = (HelloLocalHome)initialContext.lookup("Hello");
Note : You need to provide valid username and password of the weblogic.
h.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "username");
h.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "password");
Here dummy values are written; replace these values by valid username and password.

Issue in bringing up CRS on ATG 10.1.1 with MySQL and Weblogic 10.3
Hello,
I am trying to bring up Commerce Reference Store as part of my evaluation using MySQL (bundled with ATG) and WebLogic 10.3.
I followed the ATG Documentation on CRS with WebLogic and MySQL and I could not proceed because of the below error log. I keep getting error in OnlineCreateServerInstanceTask of CIM. I believe it should be some configuration problem, but could not think of any.
As part of the installation, I use C:\jdk1.6.0_25. I verified my weblogic server is up through the admin console. I started MySQL before running the eval batch. Apart from starting MySQL server, I did not make any datasource/database configuration changes for ATG. I have not run any other scripts to configure MySQL too.
Please guide me to resolve the problem.
