Namespace Error when trying to importNode

Question

When trying to import a Document into an existing Document I am getting the following exception:

My XML Looks like:

<user:USER account_id="138" id="1967"
src:col="/db/iconnect/MappingCenterCRM/default/USER" src:key="1967"
xmlns:src="http://xml.apache.org/xindice/Query" xmlns:user="http://iconnect.com/schemas/user">
<user:Firstname>Sally</user:Firstname>
<user:Lastname>Jones</user:Lastname>
</user:USER>
</Content>
I am trying to add another User Document like the following into the root Content Node:
<user:USER account_id="156" id="2038"
src:col="/db/iconnect/MappingCenterCRM/default/USER" src:key="1967"
xmlns:src="http://xml.apache.org/xindice/Query" xmlns:user="http://iconnect.com/schemas/user">
<user:Firstname>John</user:Firstname>
<user:Lastname>Smith</user:Lastname>
</user:USER>
I am using the following to create the Document:
DocumentBuilderFactory factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
DocumentBuilder builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
Dcoument document = builder.newDocument();
// Add the root element
Element root = (Element) document.createElement("Content");
Appending New Document:
Node node = document.importNode(doc.getDocumentElement(), true);
root.appendChild(node);
Been hacking away at this for days, any help would be greatly appreciated!!
