Naming channel strips one thing and tracks another..?

hi.
i have my global track header set to channel strip name so if i rename a channel strip from the arrange track then all the tracks assigned to that channel will rename the same...
BUT...
sometimes i want to name the channel strip say 'drums' but all the tracks 'kick' 'snare' 'hats' etc....
is this possible because im sure i remember it used to be...?

Hi,
of course it is possible! CTRL-Click on the Track header and select whatever you want. You can even select to display 2 lines, you can edit the track header name in the inspector window and on and on...

Elp pls!! am trying to setup ipad 0s7 to work with my 2610xi and also a HP 6525 printer. I am no where with this even after visiting Apple store in Pensacola, fl. HP says one thing and Apple says DUHHHH.

I have an ipad os7 system and am trying to get it set up to print to HP 2610xi all in one printer and also print to another HP printer 6525.
Hp says one thing and Apple here says nothing to it I don't have anything going. Apple says all the printers must say compatibile with AIR whatever that means since HP says bull.......! Do I need to download air software or what and than what? I use Windows 7 and all works there. Everything is wireless!

Insert one table and update another???

Hello,
I was wondering if it is possible to insert a record in one table and update another another record in a different table.
I have a form on my company's intranet that allows employees to add comments (ADDT Insert transaction) about new products we are going to bring to the market. At the same time, I would like to count the numbers of comments on a particular product and update that number for each product to see which product is getting the most reviews.
Right now the products are on the homepage with the title and inserted date. From there, the employees click on the product get the info and make comments about it. The problem for me is that I would like to see the comment counts for each product on the home page, which means I would have to update the product table with the count.
Sorry, I am using PHP as the technology.
When I used to do it in ASP, I would insert the comment using the POST from the form, but add another hidden field with the count in it and I would use the "Command" Server behavior to retrieve the number and update the other table field.
I noticed that dreamweaver removed the "Command" server behavior when using PHP.

Hi Charles,
you can generally execute queries on a different table using Custom Triggers, and in regards to your "update the product table with the count" scenario the ADDT help file has a helpful pointer in the chapter "Custom transactions and triggers : Save additional information on login" -- in here you´ll find a sample "incremental counter" query which should be easy to adapt.

That is how it works. Synced photos can't deleted directly on the iPad, instead that are deleted by not including them in the next photo sync - so you need to select and sync all the photos that you want to remain on the iPad on each photo sync

Closing one GUI and opening another?

(I didnt really know which forum to post this in, so apologies in advance if this is the wrong one).
I have created a login screen for a system, LoginScreen.java, which accepts a username and password and checks these on the server for validity. This all works fine.
Once an account is accepted as valid I would like for the login screen to close, and the actual main GUI, Client.java, to open.
Can anyone tell me the code for doing this? (closing one GUI and opening another).
Please ask if you need more information on my code.

Hi, your license to NM has either a 3 or 8 computer limit depending on if you got Essentals or Pro.
If you are at your limit and want to take a computer off the license to make room for a new one, you should contact NM by phone.

What is it with iMacs eh? If it's not one thing it's another.

Okay, nothing disasterous, but annoyances that mount up.
To cut a long story short, I started off on a Mac mini, and was so impressed I decided I wanted something with more oomph, so got took it back to the store within 10 days and traded up to a 20" Intel iMac. But I sold that in a fit of madness and poverty after 4 months. Doh!
In the time I owned it I loved it, apart from these annoyances:
- Mighty Mouse (and any USB optical mouse) caused interference on headphone socket (I tried many different mice, headphones and speakers)
- Superdrive was very noisy and clunky from putting in the disk to reading to writing to ejecting the disk (what happened to the slot drives Apples used to have that slowly, silently sucked the disk in eh?)
- Start-up chime was too noisy / not disableable (is that a word?)
Okay, now here I am a few months later, missing it like aitch-eee-double-ell, and so I've taken the plunge again and bought another 20". And so far I'm loving it again, apart from these annoyances:

- Hard-drive seems to noisier and slower too, its general background whirr seems louder and more noisy, but definitely disk reading and writing is noisier and slower... plus it seems to make the machine vibrate more than it did before.
Okay, these might seem minor annoyances but they mount up and are not what you expect when you have paid £1200 for what is supposed to be the best PC (I use that term in its pure sense, as in 'personal computer' not as in IBM/PC Compatible) in the world.
The drive is listed as a WDC WD2500JS-40NGB2 - I guess that means it is a Western Digital? I'm sure my other iMac had a Maxtor? The iMac packaging says it was made in China. Dunno if that makes any difference - I've heard that they have been made in Malaysia, California and Ireland as well.
Hmmm... perhaps I should have stayed with the G4 Mac mini that I had no problems with whatsoever, for Garageband etc, kept my ahem IBM/PC compatible for the heavy duty stuff like video-editing, games-playing and number-crunching, and saved myself £700-800?

There used to be an application available at Version Tracker that would disable the startup sound. I can't remember the name of it off hand nor do I know if it will work with and Intel mac but you might try searching for it.
You could plug in a pair of headphones or earbuds or the like which will make the start up chime much less loud, or a set of external speakers and not turn them on until after the chime sounds.

Tough one to deal with online. Does it seem like your Mac is accessing the drive more than you remember as compared to your first one? Do you have less ram in this one perhaps? I am not sure about the vibration issue as there are a lot of variables to consider such as location and others but if it seems to vibrate excessively you might want to take it to a repair center and have it looked at. Maybe the drive is not fastened tightly or something.

Multiple entries for one album and tracks are diveded between entries

After adding all my music into iTunes I have some albums listed multiple times with one or two tracks listed in each one. How can I get all the tracks for that album listed all together? Also is there any way to import album art from another program. Windows media player has all the album art and iTunes is missing about 40 percent of them?

Well, I tried everything in that article and when all my albums are in cover flow view multiple albums covers show for that one album. When I type in the album name, it narrows down to 1 CD.
As far as not being able to retrieve album artwork, I just do a google image search. After I have saved the pictures I go to the info for any song in that album and add it to artwork.

Anybody find cause/fix for movies that play one day and not another?

I have a lot of movies. I find that at times I go back to watch a movie I have watched before and it errors saying cannot play movie, unrecognized format. Though I have watched it before on the AppleTV without issue.
I try again maybe a week later and it works. Then later, others won't play.
Very frustrating when I know the movie works as I have watched it before.
So, just curious if anybody else has seen this and knows why or at least a quick fix to get it to work. Rebooting the ATV and/or computer doesn't work.

It happens (when it does, as mentioned, doesn't always have issue) when streaming a movie.
eg: I get new movie. I have sync options to sync 5 most recent unwatched movies and 10 most recent unwatched tv shows and all music.
So new movie is on ATV. I watch. All is good.
When done ATV does it's thing and takes it off and brings over the next most recent to keep my count at 5 local to the ATV.
Later I want to watch again when wife gets home or something. Here is when sometimes I can watch (it streams) and other times (just happening more and more lately) it will say unrecognized format.
Yet if I go pick another movie that I know is not local to the ATV thus will stream, it will work. Just random various movies won't.
If I go to iTunes and mark one that isn't playing as unwatched (and it was more recent than another on the ATV) then it will sync over to the ATV and be local again and play fine again.
Thing is it doesn't happen all the time. Some stuff will stream fine, other times won't. Real pain and has only been getting worse lately.
Guess I know that the error message of "unrecognized format" is just wrong and it that must be some general message because I know it is in right format.

Well, Fixed one problem and created another!!!!

Okay, Let's start from the beginning (A long time ago in a galaxy far far away).
Year 2002: Installed the then available itunes. Wow this is great, setup nicely, imported all my music, videos, pictures (yes, mpgs too, more on this later).
Between 2002 and 2007: itunes updates itself with no problems.
Year 2007: Installed Vista Ultimate upgrade, itunes does not like OS upgrades! Duplicates galore, playlists unusable and all tracking info gone!!! Easy I thought just uninstall itunes then re-install, okay but you guys know by now that you have to start from scratch on playlists and tracking. Seems that when you upgrade from XP to Vista you now have public folders and your own folders (no more My Documents per se) now with these changes itunes freaks because file locations have changed and the file in itunes that tracks where your files used to be is basicaly now corrupt. Several days later I have my playlists redone and back to business. Now I really don't use itunes for video so I didn't really lose any functionality there so I thought (more on this later)!
Mid 2007: Installed 3 new hard drives tons of new space to fill! itunes? Well I hadn't really done anything but add songs, burn a couple of cd's for the car it seems to be working ok. Now for a small flashback, I have been storing all of my media in it's own folder on my C: drive ie creating subfolders by artist and doing this in windows explorer then importing the new subfolder in itunes (sounds crazy but when itunes freaks, windows media player likes that setup. Now itunes seems to want to put everything in its own folder when you don't keep track if your media folder might change drive locations when using usb drives and external harddrives, Ah hah!!! everyone remembers (now with these changes itunes freaks because file locations have changed and the file in itunes that tracks where your files used to be is basicaly now corrupt)!!!
Late 2007: Wow with these new hardrives I can free up some space on my C: drive. Now I was thinking, just moving my Public and Private Vista folders is gonna create some problems. I did my research and found there is a way to change what drive these folders are on and Vista automatically moves the folders and files and re-associates them, worked great except!! guess what?! itunes again freaks out because of the drive letter changes!!
Year 2009: I have not used itunes in year, Why? Tired of fighting with a well conceived but poorly written program. This program was designed to run on an Apple machine, period. Most apple machines never get hardware upgrades, no changes so no problems with itunes. I sit here thinking I haven't changed anything on my computer for a long time, I will give itunes one more try. I do the research and see that wow you just delete all your songs off itunes but keep the files and re-import. Okay I deleted all my music then re-imported and it works! Again I will have to redo all my playlists. So since this seemed to work okay I go to my Movies folder in itunes and I see that duplicates are listed, some files will play some will not. Here we go! Deleted all my movies and pictures (these I also have in there own folders and subfolders) and keep the files. Well I try to re-import, a progress screen shows it doing it's thing and then, nothing, the items are not listing! I try again, Nothing!!!! I do a little research and find that the video types itunes supports has now changed! Remember at the start of my post (yes, mpgs too, more on this later) well seems itunes does not support mpg files anymore. If anyone can come up with a work around on this it would be helpfull otherwise I am done with itunes!

there are plenty of good programs out there that will convert your videos from whatever format they are in to the ipod format. i use Xilisoft iPod Video Converter. Get it here: http://www.xilisoft.com/ipod-video-converter.html. You can go into itunes and changing the location of the itunes music folder. go to Edit > Preferences > Advanced tab. This may stop itunes freaking. and about the duplicates, if you add a playlist from itunes, then it will create a duplicate of the track if it is already on the ipod. i suggest making playlists on the ipod by clicking on the ipod in itunes and creating a new playlist, then drag and drop the tracks you wish to add to the playlist from your ipod music menu.
