Naming of folders in Photoshop elements 11

Hello
I am using the windows version of photoshop elements 11, in dutch,
i am looking for an option to create folders during the import into the catalog with a naming template yyyy mmm dd, this would result in 2013 jun 26,
this option is not in my selectable template, there is an user defined one, but i was not able to get that to work when importing multiple dates in one run.
any ideas someone ?

Sorting My Folders in Photoshop Elements 12

I have Photoshop Elements 12 and realize that the folder structure is sorted alphabetically. As I have hundreds of folders named by date (for example 2014-12-01), I would like for the newest to be at the top. However, I can not find this sorting function and thus I have to scroll way down each time I open the programme. Is there really no way to sort My Folders or at least change the order of sorting so it becomes reversed?
I've tried to search for this answer but only find a lot of discussion about sorting actual picture files, which is not my issue.

No, the organizer is a catalog based management system, and its principle is that it takes great care to avoid creating duplicates. Instead it can create collections of files (called 'albums') which are kinds of 'playlists' which can contain links to the same image. You can have several albums including (that is 'pointing to') the same image. That does not create duplicates.
What the organizer can do is to 'export as new file' a file to another location anywhere. The 'exported' file is not included (registered, cataloged...) in the catalog, but it"s available for other softwares.

Unwanted folders in Photoshop Elements Organiser

I've recently started using Photoshop Elements 13 on a new Windows 8.1 Laptop.
I've started bringing some folders into the Organizer and have had some unwanted ones turn up...
The unwanted folders have names like festive, confetti and album_16x9_c71ff90be..... and they all appear to have a single music file in them and be located in the slideshow > themes > assets subfolder of Adobe. Given this folder isn't within the Pictures folder I've set Adobe to look at I don't how the folders have ended up in my Organizer.
So, I'm seeking assistance to:
- delete the unwanted folders and files from my organizer which I haven't figured out how to do; and
- work out how they ended up there so I can make sure it doesn't happen again.

Have you tried going to Watch Folders options and then delete from there? See this picture:
To get to this screen, Launch the Organizer and then Go to:
File >> Files folders (this 5th item from the bottom)

Why can't lightroom across different folders like Photoshop Elements can?

I have access to Lightroom through CC and I'd like to use it more, but it cannot do a very basic thing that Photoshop Elements, a consumer-oriented product, has been doing for years. That is, stack across different folders. I keep my large RAW files on an external hard drive but keep the edited .jpg files on my computer's main drive. In the Elements library I stack those photos and any other versions such as .psd files. Very useful and I don't understand why this has never been possible in Lightroom.
An additional wish is that I could import my Elements library into Lightroom, complete with stacking, keywords, etc. That would be fantastic.

This blog will explain how to install Elements as an external editor in lightroom. The main thing to remember it to point Lightroom to the EDITOR and not the Elements Startup screen where you can choose Organizer or Editor. If you don't point to the EDITOR the photo will not show up in Elements

Got it fixed! The Folder was set to Open With Terminal!
Maybe when you moved it over from your other system, the Open With got changed? To change this, in your Finder, select the iPhoto library from your User/Pictures folder and do a Get Info on it Command+I.
Then change the Open With to iPhoto application!
Then from the Finder, double click the iPhoto Folder and it will be opened with iPhoto! WALLA it worked!

Pointer problem in Photoshop Elements 9

When in Photoshop elements 9 (under Windows 7 Home Premium), I try to modify a jpg picture by "distorting" it, the pointer changes to something that looks like three very small hands, with a finger pointing up, instead of becoming a small arrowpoint, as I could see at a friends installation. This triple hand makes the tool almost unusable, because you cannot "grab" e.g. one of the corner squares to distort the picture. Also in other tools the pointer, when travelling in the image area, the pointer, which is normal outside the image, becomes a very small "something" in triple. Can someone tell me where I went wrong in one or other of the settings. By the way as I am using the "Dutch" version please explain step by step what to do because the translation of the technical terms from English to Dutch is not always obvious ... . Try changing the Windows Text Size (this is one problem that occurs only while running PSE in Windows 7 or Windows Vista). To change the text size:
Choose Start > Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Display.
Choose Set custom text size (DPI) in the menu on the left panel.
Type in 149 or 151 into the Scale to this percentage of normal size field.
Press enter and click OK.
Choose to shut down and then restart your computer to make the change.
This should work. If this doesn't work, delete the PSE preferences file:
First of all, close all running windows of photoshop elements.
Click Start>>Search. Type "%appdata%".
Here. open the folder named 'Adobe', and then Photoshop Elements>>9.0>>Editor
Here, delete the "Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 Prefs.psp" file.
Now launch PSE and see how that works for you.

How do I transfer photos and related tags from Photoshop Elements 5 to a new iMac Apple desktop computer

Is it possible to move all my photos , Tags and folders in Photoshop Elements 5 from my Vista machine to my new Apple iMac desktop?

You will need to upgrade PSE in windows to at least PSE 9, then do a full backup using the organizer's backup command to a removable drive, then restore to the mac. The mac organizer can only understand windows catalogs from PSE 9 or later.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 Folders

I recently purchased and downloaded Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 and I notice that 2 folders were created in My Documents, as follows:
Folder No. 1 - Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 - 1.87GB, 163 files, 52 Folders
Folder No. 2 - Photoshop Elements 11 - 1.16GB, 151 files, 50 Folders
Is this setup correct and / or necessary? I notice that many of the files in each of the folders are similarly named and therefore wondering if something went wrong during the download / setup and that the process was duplicated?
What is the process in the event that the software needs to be downloaded again, say after doing a Windows re-installation? Can I copy the software to CD or DVD for future installation?
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

One is the base installer, the otehr the content like image frames, photobook templates etc.. Backups are always advisable. USB sticks are cheap and yopu could ebven bury one under your house for posterity...

Move folders used by Photoshop Elements 8

I am running Photoshop Elements 8 using Windows Vista.
Last year, I installed PS8 on my new computer and restored a backup from my old computer. Everything worked fine but I noticed that my root photo folder (named Jpegs) is now 9 levels down in the file structure with many levels of folders below the Jpeg folder (see path below).
Jpegs folder is located at:
C:\Users\New_computer_account_name\Pictures\Adobe\Documents and Settings\Old_computer_account_name\My Documents\Old_computer_account_name\Pictures\Jpegs
It appears to me that last years installation of my backup used the full folder path from the old computer and added it to the end of the path on the new computer.
What do I need to do to move the folders up in the folder path so that they are easier to get to other than using a shortcut?
I am assuming that the photos will show up as missing if I just move folders using windows and will have to go through a long tedious process of reconnecting them (have over 10,000 photos cataloged).
Would it be easier to do a full backup, delete all the folder below perhaps the "Adobe" folder then try a restore to get them only a few levels down?
What is the easiest and safest way to move my photo folders up a few levels and at what level in the folder structure should they be?
I have search your forum and the Adobe help fiels but cannot find an answer to my particular question.

Hi Farmer
You must move folders within PSE8.
Open the Organizer and click on the Display button (near the top right) and change to Folder Location.
Expand the tree in the left hand panel to show the full folder structure.
Highlight a folder and drag it to Pictures (normally the watch folder) or a folder of your choice.
The destination folder will highlight as you hover over it and you can then release the mouse.
When complete click the Display button and change back to thumbnail view if that is your preferred default.

Bug - Subfolder naming issue in Photoshop Elements 10 Organiser

Upgraded to the latest version of Photoshop Elements and very dissapointed that Adobe have introduced a bug.
For European users, Photoshop Organiser 10 creates sub folders in the format yyyy dd mm.
Should use the format yyyy mm dd as with previous versions.
The only workaround I have found is to display photo dates using preferences to US format mm dd yyyy
This is unacceptable.
I understand that Adobe have no plans to release a bug fix
I personally am going to use Windows to import my photos in future and won't be rushing to upgrade!

I know it says OS X but various similar reports seem to have been merged in with it - if the count gets very high then that should encourage Adobe to do somthing about it.
