Naming of nano's on Itunes

Sorry - I have searched but cannot find an answer..
(thought I had)
I ahve two nanos, one very old and one brand new. I want to have one for audio-book and one for music. Can I set them up in Itunes so that they are identified? Or is that aoutomatic? I usually sync manually so it's perhas not a problem?
Thanks for help,
Anne

Deauthorize the computers that you no longer need, then you will be able to authorize any new ones. If you don't have access to the older machines then with five authorizations you can invoke the deauthorize all command, then reauthorize the computers that you wish to. Note that you cannot use the deathorise all command again for 12 months.

  • Can I move my old music from my Nano to my iTunes library without losing it?

in 10 years 3 computers crashed and I'm the 4th-How do I transfer OLD music from my old Ipod Nano to my iTunes library without losing it. My nano is filled to the brim but I don't want to lose music from CDs I no longer have and the thought of re-purchasing seems crazy.
    Thanks

The file structure is a little complex. I will use inbox as an example.
Inbox (a large file with no file extension)
Inbox.msf ( An index of inbox with tags etc. Can be deleted with only loss of tags)
Inbox.sdb (a folder, indicating that the folder within Thunderbird has a sub folder.
    POP mail is stored in
    Appdata/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles/*.default/Mail/[Server name]/
    Local folder is stored in
    Appdata/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles/*.default/Mail/Local Folders/
As long as you do not overwrite, you can copy and paste whole folder trees into local folders (stuff on your old computer under a mail account is best relocated to local folder and then sorted as necessary afterwards.
Note that you should delete foldertree.json after making those sorts of copies (it forces a full refresh of the folder tree, no cache) and under no circumstances copy data with Thunderbird running. It can irrevocably corrupt things

  • How can I sync my IPOD Nano 4 to iTunes on my PC? I've already tried the sync button on iTunes and it says it is synced. I've also tried the 5 steps recommended by Apple to fix sync problems with no luck.

How is your iPod configured to sync content from your iTunes library? Any error messages during the sync process?
You may want to reset warnings on the device by right->clicking on it under Devices and choosing Reset Warnings.  Then resync the iPod to see if any alerts appear.
Is this the same computer you normally sync the Nano with?

  • Ipod nano 4gb use itunes to restore востанавливаю все равно все тоже

ipod nano 4gb use itunes to restore востанавливаю все равно все тоже

restored my ipod and now it works but why does this happen? Is this a hardware problem, if it is, should i return my ipod. Or is this just a software problem that will be fixed in future updates?
I'm not sure why exactly an iPod will say "Use iTunes to restore", but probably just because of a regular internal software problem.
If you're iPod isn't displaying "Use iTunes to restore" anymore, and if it's acting fine, this was simply a isolated incident, which may occur now and then to a few iPods, if they're OS (operating system) gets messed up.
It's similar to if your iPod once apon a time your iPod froze up, then displayed this symbol (it means you need to restore your iPod):
You restored the iPod, and have never gotten that icon or any problems ever since.
Will the need to restore your iPod recurr? It would only be by chance, and not relating to that isolated incident; this is, if you're iPod isn't displaying any failure messages soon after, which indicates a recurring true hard drive problem, not just a temporary one.
If your iPod begins to display "Use iTunes to restore" or other failureful (that's my term for a symbol or behavior that indicates a failure) icons/messages soon after this, you can suspect that your iPod has a true problem with its hard drive/flash drive that a restore didn't fix.
In this case, you would probably send your iPod in to Apple to get it repaired or replaced.
I hope that explanation answers your question.

  • I am unable to sync my ipod nano to my itunes.

I am unable to sync my ipod nano to my itunes. I have windows 8 and have updated everything on my computer and followed all of the tutorials for syncing. My ipod is recognized and my itunes says "ipod sync is complete" but I dont have any music on my ipod still... Help Please!

You probably need to set up automatic syncing.  If you have not set up anything to sync, iTunes will still sync, but sync nothing.
If you "updated everything," you probably have the new iTunes 12.  Connect the iPod.  Look on the horizontal bar that goes across the iTunes window (near the top), and click the "device button" (it looks like the connected device).  This shows the iPod's "management" screen.
In the sidebar (along left side of window), under Settings, click Music.  To the right, you see the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.  Check the box for Sync Music, which enables automatic syncing for Music.  NOTE:  If that was box not checked already, and you manually added songs to the iPod previously, any songs on the iPod now that are not in your iTunes library will be lost.
Below that, if your iTunes music library is small enough to fit on your iPod completely, you can choose the option to sync Entire music library.
Otherwise, choose the option to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Below that, select what you want to sync from the lists of playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  The "capacity bar" at the bottom of the screen shows you how much space on the iPod you are using.  A convenient way to do this is to first create one or more playlists in your iTunes library, and put only the songs you want on the iPod on those playlists.  Or you can use existing playlists.  Then, on the iPod's Music screen, only select (checkmark) the those playlists, under Playlists.
When you click Apply, iTunes syncs your iPod based on your selection on the iPod's Music screen.  Going forward, changes in your iTunes music library sync automatically to the iPod (based on how you set up the iPod's Music screen).  If you selected playlists to sync to the iPod, to update songs on the iPod, just update those playlists in your iTunes library (add/remove songs).  The iPod does not need to be connected.  The next time you connect the iPod (or click Sync if already connected), iTunes updates the iPod with the same changes.

  • Is there a way to sync my nano back to itunes

My computer crashed and I lost my iTunes library, including all of the personal music that I put on my IPOD Nano.  I want to put more music on my nano, but want to keep what is on there now.  Is there a way to sync my nano back to ITunes?

iTunes is not designed to do that, however take a look at this user supplied hint and see if it will help you. Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive

I have a desktop with itunes, an iphone and a new nano.  Can I sync my husbands nano to my itunes library also?

There is no limit to the number of iPads, iPhones, or iPods you can sync with one computer, iTunes library, or account.  The sync settings of one device does not affect any other devices.  See here for the different ways you can manage multiple iPods with one computer.

  • Help?! my iPod Nano is causing iTunes to crash

    Hello,
My iPod Nano is making iTunes crash. Every time I plug the iPod into my USB port, iTunes will crash after a few seconds if it was already running. If I start iTunes with the iPod already plugged in, then iTunes will crash after a few seconds.
    Details:
    - iPod Nano - 5th generation
    - MacBook Pro running 10.5.8
    - iTunes: updated to 10.3.1
    Troubleshooting already attempted:
    - installed latest updates to system software
    - installed latest iTunes
    - restored iPod using another MacBook
    - went through full de-installation of iTunes and reinstalled (followed these instructions: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1224?viewlocale=en_US)
    - tried multiple USB ports
    Other relevant details:
    - The iPod connected to iTunes on another MacBook without any issues.
    - I was able to load an older iPod Mini into the suspect iTunes without problem.
I'd greatly appreciate if anyone had any insight into this issue. My Apple support has expired on the iPod.
    Thank you!

I am having the same problem w my Ipod nano. Could you let me know if you find a solution. I will do the same for you. My email - [email protected]  - Im thinking mine may need a new battery bc the light is also dim.
