Nano 1st generation replacement program link not working

I have an Ipod nanno first gen and recently saw the recall. when i go to the https://supportform.apple.com/201110/ link it either doesn't load or takes me to another replacement program page for another product. i would like to see if my ipod nano 1st gen qualifies for this recall but it won't let me, does anyone know why or another way to do this? there are no apple stores near where i live.
Thanks, eddie

  • IPod nano (1st generation) Replacement Program

    Hello,
Back in 2012 I requested a replacement via the iPod nano (1st generation) Replacement Program.  Apple sent a return envelope but I ended up damaging it by opening the packet with scissors (d’oh!).
I’ve just remembered about the programme and tried to request a replacement again online, but get the following error message ‘This serial number has already been submitted for this program.’
Is there a way of contacting Apple via email (rather than phone), or is there another way for me to make the request again?
    Many thanks

You will have to call them unless they provided you with an email during your first request.

  • IPod nano (1st generation) Replacement Program do i get a new ipod or only a new battery?

Finally got a message stating my replacement has shipped. Been pending since 12-2. Looked up the new serial number givin to me in the email and it's a 6th generation model!! Confused, thought we were getting Gen1's??...Don't really care for the new design, but oh well, pleasantly surprised by this!!

  • IPod nano (1st generation) Replacement Program. Isn't it available in Thailand?

I went to AASP and they told me that my nano 1st gen can only be "exchange" with 3800 THB (~$123) fee. But I've check my S/N with online replacement site by using US and Australia as my location and it bring me to address registration page. So, How can I know if my nano can be replace for free or not.
P.S. AASP's front desk and other authorized reseller shop employees seem not acknowledge about this program, thus it make me feel if I can trust their words or not.

    Yes.

  • Nano 1st generation replacement program.

I sent a request for service on my 1gb 1st. gen.nano.July 15,2013. and on July 18,2013. I received a pre-paid box to return my beloved little Ipod..Three days I think is pretty good so far.I really have no problem if mine is replaced with a 6th gen. 8gb nano.Despite the detractors it is a decent music player. Now let us see how the return and replacement go from here.Cheers.

That depends on which number you called.  Try Apple Customer Relations (800) 767-2775.

  • For the iPod nano 1st gen replacement program what generation of iPod nano will it be replaced with?

For the iPod nano 1st gen replacement program what generation of iPod nano will it be replaced with?

8GB. Nice little unit when used by itself. BUT don't even think about connecting to any docks or other third party interfaces 'cause IT AIN"T GONNA WORK RIGHT!
Both of my Pioneer car stereos have the same problem with both of my 6th generation iPod Nanos:
The first time you connect the iPod, the radio recognizes the it and works. BUT THE NEXT TIME YOU TURN THE RADIO ON THE DISPLAY FREEZES. The only way to get it working is to disconnect the dock connector from the iPod and reconnect it. THIS ***** AND IS NOT THE WAY THESE UNITS BEHAVED WITH MY 1ST GENERATION NANO. Both of my new 6th generation ipods have been restored (several times) and have the latest firmware which, as of this writing is 1.2 and still the problem persists.
My two Pioneer car stereos that don't work right with the iPod Nano 6th generation:
    Pioneer DEH-P4900iB
    CD-i200 iPod cable for above
Scion XB iPod enabled head unit T1808
I've made an AppleCare adviser aware of the problem but I doubt that this information will ever make it to engineering so I don't have much hope that this will ever be fixed.
I would suggest that all 6th generation Nano users check it's compatibility with any third party interfaces they have and report their findings on this discussion board. Perhaps we can get Apple to FIX THIS SERIOUS PROBLEM.
    Apple are you listening??

  • I am from Germany. I have a Question to the iPod nano 1st gen replacement program: Can I upgrade to Ipod touch 8GB? The new Ipod nano Generation is too smal for my hands

I am from Germany. I have a Question to the iPod nano 1st gen replacement program: Can I upgrade to Ipod touch 8GB? The new Ipod nano Generation is too smal for my hands

Hello! Not a problem, because you will get a Ipod Nano 1st generation as a replacement, not a new / latest generation.

  • Ipod nano 1st generation replacement

Anyone has successfully got a replacement of a new 1st generation iPod nano?
It seems to me it's a pathetic joke, after all the hassle of Genius reservation and registering, I was told to wait for notification in 6-8 weeks.
Of course nobody called or emailed me.  I then made Genius bar reservation once again and it's said the original model were all gone, just would give me a 5th generation model...
    What a bad joke!
I did once appreciate this replacement program, but now I swear not to buy any Apple products again.
    Apple is rotting so quickly.

Apple did not anticipate there were that many 1st Generation Nano's out there still in service and way underestimated how many replacements they would need and quickly ran out of 1st Generation service replacement units. It was not feasible to retool a manufacturing plant to make the 1st Generation Nano so they switched to the current generation, with twice as much memory.
They could have just issued Apple Store gift cards for $47 USD (the going price for 1st Generation Nanos at the time on sites with used ones) since the one's coming back were well used. Instead they opted to go with the much more expensive 6th Generation Nano. That was really bad of them.
What would you have them do?

  • IPod Nano 1st Gen Replacement Program Problem

I recently sent my iPod Nano 1st Gen off for the replacement program.
I wanted to make sure I would be receiving a refurbished 1st Gen back, not one of the latest gens, so I called Apple Care to confirm this.
I'm really fond of the 1st Gen and would like to keep it as a collectors item, plus mine was in relatively good condition as well (And absolutely love the scroll wheel).
The woman I spoke to at Apple Care assured me that I would receive a refurbished 1st Gen iPod Nano, she was very clear on this.
I sent off and just received a box in the mail with replacement. To my dismay, they replaced it with a 6th GEN.
I don't want to sound ungrateful, and I do appreciate Apple keeping up customer service even for old Apple products.
But I specifically asked if a 1st gen would be returned to me, which was not the case.
I called Apple care again today, and they said they didn't have the stock and provided me with whatever they could.
Had I been told there was a chance I wouldn't receive a refurbished 1st gen in return, I wouldn't have sent it off in the first place.
Can't be too upset with Apple, but not particularly happy. Any advice would be appreciated.

I just sent a request for the shipping materials today, and if I get back a refurbished 1st generation nano, I'll be more than happy to trade it for your 6th generation

  • 1st generation replacement program - problem when submitting!

    Hello!
I`m from austria and I bought an iPod nano 1st gen a few years ago from a friend. Then my brother told me there was a replacement program going on for these iPods because there could be something wrong with the battery.
Here`s the thing: I want to return my iPod by signing up (entering serial number, my address and phone number) but whenever I want to go for the next step there shows up the message "We`re sorry but while processing your request an error has occurred. Please try again in a few minutes or return to the Apple Support site."
Retrying never worked, I have tried signing up for this program for months now!
    Does anybody know what`s wrong?

Thanks! Apparently, the iPod nano that I have was bought in the U.S.A. so I have to personally bring it to the next Apple retail store to get it replaced. Unfortunately Austria does not have an Apple retail store, the nearest one is in Munich, Germany. Maybe I'll get there someday. They said if I called the store a few days before travelling to Munich I might be lucky and they'd replace the iPod immediately.

  • Apple ipod nano 1st gen replacement program

    Hello
I read about the problems and the program online and applied and was found that my nano is part of those affected.
Received confirmed email that a package was being sent out but i applied on sun 13th november and have not received
this package for this whole week, Apple said to expect it with 2 business days. If i have not received the package within the expected time
stated how can i send it back within the 10 days time limit they've placed to resend the nano to them?
Does anyone know what mail service they are using to send the nano replacement package out to customers in the UK?
    I'm guessing it's probably royal mail (-_-)*
What is the best thing to do, as i don't want to keep a ticking time bomb around the house, and the email is sent from don't reply address?
So there is no way to contact them from my personal replacement status page, hence why i have posted here for any advice please?
    Thanks in advance

I sent my ipod around nov 20th and they received in on the nov 24th and today on december 20th i received an email saying they are sending me my replacement and they gave me the serial number for my new ipod
so i decided to register the serial number and it turns out that the ipod replacement is the 6th generation
I REPEAT YOU WILL GET A 6TH GEN. IPOD NANO!!!
I'm not sure what size but probably 8 gb

  • Is anyone else disappointed by the nano 1st generation replacement programme?  I received a tiny mini nano in replacement for my recalled one - I at least expected something the same size and functionality!

I wondered if anyone else also got a tiny replacement that was not really like for like.  Or am I the only one?

Because it is smaller it is not like for like?
Sell it on the open market, lots of people are looking for refurbished Generation 6 Nanos.

  • I have restored my ipod nano 2nd generation but its still not working

i have reset my ipod and restored it but it is still not working. i have connected to itunes and it has loaded some music onto it but though the light comes on you cannot see anything else on the screen. any suggestions would be appreciated

It might be a good idea to let the iPod's battery fully drain. Then charge it back up and restore it once more in iTunes.
Otherwise, it's likely a hardware issue with the iPod's LCD display, meaning you'll need to take or send your iPod in for service either via Apple or a third party repair service. Here is Apple's repair pricing.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/
Note that they don't actually repair the device, but exchange it for one of the same generation, model, and capacity.  A third party service will actually replace the damage part for a little less.  Google "iPod screen repair" and you should get a number of results to work with.

  • Ipod 1st generation replacement program in Turkey

Hi. I have an ipod 1st gen bought from Turkey. How can i replace it easily by replacement program? Apple sent me an e-mail but, Turkey is not in the available countries. Thanks.

"Note: The replacement is available for only selected countries and is not available in India."

  • I have a nano 5th generation and buttons do not work but click wheel does

My buttons often do not work. Until today, if I toggled the move button I could get it to work after 3-4 minutes of trying. I restored the  nano 1 hour ago. It turned on to teh menu, I moved to shuffle and selected that. SOngs are playing. But now none of the buttons work. Battery is charged, I toggle the hold switch, nothing helps. If I press the play-pause, the screen will light up for a few seconds. But that is all I can do. I can't go to the menu, go forward or reverse. I can't reset by pressing menu and select.
The only way I can stop the music is to plug it in with iTunes open - sync starts - music stops. But when I disconnect it after ejecting, it still is on - menu screen.
    Is the nano toast?
