Nano 3G Compatibility with speakers

Hi!
Planning to buy a ipod nano 3G....
I´m a little uncertain about the compatibility with speaker
systems - is there a "compatibillity list" somewhere?
For example: will Altec Lansing IM600 and Griffin Journi work with nano G3-
or will i need adapters of some sort?
Thanks,T

Who manufactures the 3G stick, what is its model number?

  • Nano docking compatibility with Altec Lansing IM7 speakers?

I just bought Altec Lansing's terrific speakers for my mini - sounds easily as good as my friends Bose - and wonder if anyone knows if the nano is compatible with it. The mini just docks into it - not sure if the nano has identical docking "port" at bottom.
    Thanks

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
According to their website, it is compatible...

  • Re-formatting an iPod Nano for compatibility with PC

    Hi,
I'm a Mac man, but I'm trying to use my iPod as a storage device. The computers I access at my workplace are PCs, and they don't read the iPod as being properly formatted. Obviously I'd like to keep all my music etc.. so how do I format my iPod so that it can operate cross-platform? (there doesn't seem to be an option in Mac iTunes)

    Hello muso13,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
The only way you will be able to use the iPod on your work PCs is to restore the iPod on a Windows machine so the iPod can be formatted as FAT32 for its file type, which can actually be read and written to on both a PC and a Mac. So basically this is the only route you can and should go on.
From there you can resync the iPod with your Mac to bring all the content back over to it. And from there you can bring it to work as well and use it as need be.

  • Options re: Nike+iPod compatibility with non-nano iPods?

    Hi,
I'm a runner who bought a fifth generation ipod (mainly for running) in late 2005. I am interested in the Nike+iPod system but was disappointed to learn it is only compatible with iPod nano, though many nanos use OS 10.3, like the fifth gen. ipod.
Any suggestions beyond selling the one I have and buying an ipod nano?
    Thanks

    {quote:title=Jeff Bryan wrote:}
The compatibility of the Nike kit with the nano has more to do with the nano being more suitable for running as it has flash memory and not a hard drive (no skipping or moving parts), and is lighter and smaller too. Much more suitable for activity sports. It has nothing to do with the Mac OS version.
Thank you for the reply, Jeff.
I appreciate your points and I don't mean to belabor the issue. I meant to say I purchased the iPod in late '06, which makes it just over a year old. Technically the Nike+ kit was available then, but it was basically brand new and I don't recall being aware of it.
To respond in support of the 5th gen ipod, personally I've run with it well over 500 miles, up to 13+ miles at a time, over steep hills and through heavy rain and skipping has not been an issue once. The same is true for a few other runners I know who use this model. While the nano is smaller, the 5th gen is a good size as well, and a marked improvement over older devices runners used happily for years, so it is far from a critical issue.
There's nothing you can do other than replace your 5th gen with a nano. There are no options to make your 5th gen work with the Nike kit.
I understand and appreciate Apple's making an iPod tailored to running, but logically activity sports would have been considered a key use from the first iPod, and the pre-nano models are suited to this very well also. I am a usually-happy and consistent Apple customer, am just once in awhile annoyed when good (and relatively new) products are not included for compatibility with new systems. It seems to me that the points you mention, while logical, are far from critical, and that a product less than 18 months old using the same OS could easily have been made compatible with the Nike kit.
Thank you again for the reply, I'll forward my thoughts to iPod feedback.

  • Itunes compatibility with shuffle and nano

HI,, i bought an ipod nano, and then I installed the itunes, I have two computers. One is of my mom, and the other one of everyone else. I installed the i-tunes in my mom's computer, and everything was ok until she told me that she doesn't want i-tunes in her computer because the virus and that stuff, and then I tried in the other computer, but my brother has an ipod shuffle, and when I wanted to sincronize songs to my ipod nano, it said that the ipod just can work with one library (or i-tunes), if you want to be in that library, you have to reset everything, and I want to reset it, because I don´t have another choice, but I don´t know if the two ipods, the shuffle and nano can work with the same itunes, If I can do that, please tell me how, to keep the songs or the libraries unmixed.
    Thanks
    I don`t know   Windows XP

There are basically two ways of using multiple iPods on a computer and these involve:
    a) Sharing a single iTunes library and or user account.
    b) Creating multiple user accounts and having separate libraries.
Sharing a Library and/or User Account
If you want to share the one library, you can set either or all of the iPods so that they only get updated with only certain playlists (you can update from more than one if you wish):
Loading songs onto iPod automatically - Windows
Choosing the update option "Sync Music - Selected playlists" allows you to create a playlist specifically for the iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used some other time if you choose. You can read more about playlists at these links:
iTunes: Creating playlists of your favorite songs
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
Or you can choose to update any or all of the iPods manually and just drag whatever content you want to them: Managing content manually on iPod
Loading the iPod shuffle differs slightly but it can still be used with the others, for details have a look at this page:
Loading songs onto iPod shuffle - Windows
It's also possible to have multiple libraries in a single account. To create or access a second (or more) library, hold down the Option key (or Shift key in Windows) when launching iTunes 7. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to the other Library.
Note: You can only have one Library open at a time and iTunes will default to the last library opened if you don't use the keyboard command to choose one. This can prove tricky when using multiple iPods, if you don't use the keyboard command you can risk syncing to the wrong library:
    Using multiple iTunes libraries -Windows
    Separate User Accounts
Another option is to create a separate User account for each person on your PC or Mac. Different accounts by definition would give you completely separate libraries. Each account has it's own iTunes folder, Library and iTunes Music folder and you load it with CDs etc just as you did with your original one. The iPod can be set to update however the owner chooses, sync all, manual or sync specific playlists
I don't use Windows so I can't give you a step by step on that one, however I can point you to another web page which should help you out. You can read about Windows user accounts here:

  • I'm really, really bad with speakers. (Polk Audio T15 Setup)

So I bought these speakers and don't even know what the first step is. What cords/home theater setup do I need? I'm connecting it to a sony google TV.

    Sony - 945W 7.1-Ch. 3D Pass-Through A/V Home Theater Receiver
    Model: STRDH520 | SKU: 2023402
This receiver features 3D pass-through, Deep Color and x.v.Color technologies for a crisp, clear picture to enhance your home theater experience. Dolby TrueHD, Pro Logic IIz and DTS HD MA surround sound decoders provide a lush soundscape. Includes HDMI 3D pass-through technology for compatibility with 3D TVs, Blu-ray players and gaming consoles.

First, you'll need to buy an A/V Receiver to hook/power the speakers with. Some speaker wire as well to hook them up.  Personally, I'd recommend a center channel speaker to go with the setup, too.  And then you'll just need an HDMI cable to run from the A/V receiver to the television.

  • Audio Compatibility with iHome

    Hey everyone,
You all have been so helpful in the past, so I'm coming to all you Apple support forum gurus for two very puzzling audio questions:
    1) I have an iHome Bluetooth/Alarm Clock (see here: http://www.ihomeaudio.com/products.asp?productid=10460&deptid=1006), which was working fine with my MacBook Pro in terms of Bluetooth until one day I shut the computer while it was still connected to the speakers. Now, the two won't seem to pair (and yes, I'm using the 1234 code)--any ideas on how to get them to pair now? I've tried rebooting the computer and everything.
    2) Because of this issue, I bought a very long auxiliary cord so that I can use the line in to the speakers from my headphones port on the MacBook Pro. Problem: it seems like the audio is only playing mono, not stereo, because I'm definitely not getting the full song out of the speakers. I tried tampering with the audio settings on my computer with no luck. Any ideas on this one, either?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks so much everyone!!

    Hi Brian:
iChatAV is compatable with PC AIM users utilzing AIM 5.9 for video chat.
The key is into your set-up. Being at a hotel, MAY hinder you connection activities.
The key is to focus on your set-up first. Are you able to connect to a user that has no known issues? You can find auto-responders and other people to test with here: http://www.ralphjohnsuk.dsl.pipex.com/ContactTesters.html
There is even a PC that is set-up to auto respond with a picture of a Windows XP box when your connected. IF you are able to connect with other users and the auto responders, it's a good chance the issue is with the user on the other end.
Here's a good sight to review for your windows friend to ensure they are set-up correctly: http://www.mvldesign.com/videoconferencetutorial.html
If everything is set-up correctly, you should be able to conduct a one way video chat with an PC AIM user with no issues. (I've done it many times)
Since you are in a hotel, you may receive varied results depending on how they have their network set-up. Try connecting to the testers and go from there.
I hope this helps! Have a safe visit in Canada.

  • Is Nano 4g compatible with Sony XA110IP

I want to use my Nano with my Sony Explode which is compatible with the XA110IP ipod adaptor but although I have read it supports the 3rd gen nano I can't get confirmation on whether it will support my 4th gen.All advice appreciated.

So I talked to a gal at Sony. She said that the XA110IP and newer XA120IP are not guaranteed to work, however there is a possibility that they could work. The XA-120IP is what I specifically asked about, since it's newer. She said that only the 1st and 2nd gen Nano's are guaranteed to work with the adapter. Currently, no Sony device is guaranteed to work with any Nano more than 3rd Generation. The head unit I have does work with the 3rd gen, with its built-in iPod cable. One other nifty piece of advice: Sony has been flooded with calls regarding compatibility with the 4th Gen Nano. Therefore, they are currently working on a 4G Nano-compatible guaranteed solution. However, there is no release date set.

  • Songs skipping & display freezing with speakers

I've had my 3rd gen nano for 6 months now, and used it fine, no problems. Last week it froze completely and had to be re-set. It now seems to work OK when listening with headphones, but as soon as I dock onto my JBL speakers the display freezes (the track plays but the song duration etc freezes) and numerous songs will only play a few seconds before skipping to the next one.
    I've tried re-setting and re-synching but that hasn't helped.
I've always used my nano on the same speakers without problem, so just don't understand!
Does anyone have a fix or should I send it for warranty service??

For the album art, do the songs have album art in iTunes?
Also, try these in this order for the skipping...

  • Windows 8 and itunes 11 compatibility with an ipod

I have itunes11 and Windows 8. I've called Apple and I've talked to Microsoft. This was months ago. I can download itunes and run it from my laptop but am unable to sync my ipod. I get an error and it automatically reboots my computer. I was told there were known compatibility with itunes and Windows 8.  This was months ago.
I know how to downgrade itunes to XP or Win 7. This is not the issue. I can download to my laptop and place, it will not sync to my ipod device (which is a fear years old), but when I did talk to support I was told that it was supported. The ipod was not the issue.. It was the incompatibility between the programs.
I see recent updates in the support community in the past month about production resolution but this still has not resolved my issue. I don't believe purchasing a new ipod is going to resolve the issue either.
If anyone has successfully developed a workaround or recently downloaded itunes11 w/ Windows 8 and can sync to an apple ipod I would love to know how you did it.

    [email protected]

Im not sure that will solve the issue I have with itunes. I have a lenovo laptop and I think it's just an issue with Apple who has to modify the program for users of Windows 8 so that itunes can be used and to find purchased music. I found the music I purchased through itunes but it's not the full tracks. It said it allows me to download it fully so I can hear the whole track, but needs some kind of capatibility? I have no idea what the problem is. If someone has the answer knowing my computer brand and having windows 8 compatibility issues, please let me know what you suggest.

  • Is adobe photoshop cs2 compatable with windows 8?

Is adobe photoshop CS2 compatable with windows 8?

I have removed and re-installed CS2 twice now and still get the same library application error.
DO NOT INSTALL WINDOWS 8 ONTO YOUR COMPUTER IF YOU WANT TO KEEP CS2!
Telling us to spend more money to upgrade our software to meet OS does not show trust to the users. CS2 should be able to work with new OS systems and if not users should be allowed to update their current program for free to be able to use it on the new OS.
    Thank you,

  • I have a serious (and bizarre!) issue with my novation impulse (Although i've tried it with two other keyboards and i still have the same problem) and its compatibility with mainstage 3

i have a serious (and bizarre!) issue with my novation impulse (Although i've tried it with two other keyboards and i still have the same problem) and its compatibility with mainstage 3.
the problem is best explained on the following one - page thread:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3951518?start=0&tstart=0
(Clearly i'm not alone in this problem, although i think i figured out what's going wrong a little more than he did...read on!)
his solution, to put mainstage in jump mode, is very unsatisfactory to me, as it bounces all of a sudden to drastically different settings.
basically, my analysis is that my controller is NOT receiving MIDI date from mainstage.  in other words, mainstage knows what my controller is doing, but my controller doens't know what mainstage is doing.
let's say i turn the knob all the way to the right ... 127...and the virtual fader goes to the right like it's supposed to.
now...next...let's say i change to a different patch, where that same VIRTUAL fader is not at the max clockwise position..maybe it's only at 1pm.  now when i turn the physical knob to the RIGHT, the midi data is still at 127 on the controller!  it didn't "reset" to sync up with the new level (say 80 or so) setting on the new patch.  so i can't increase that new setting of 80 by continuing to turn the knob to the right.  i have to turn it all the way to zero,...and then continue PAST zero until the controller thinks that IT is at 0...at that point the controller and mainstage are in agreement, and things work fine....so bascially, the keyboard thinks the level is at max...but mainstage thinks the level is at 1pm.
i am using Logic 9, and i have a macbook pro 2.9 Ghz I7 with 8 gigs of memory and OS X 10.8.4

    Hi Josh,
Thanks for taking the time to contact us here a Novation for technical support. Lets continue to correspond via email so we can get your issue resolved.
    Thanks.

  • Using a Windows formatted iPod Nano (4th Gen) with Bootcamp on a Mac(Win XP

Hey I was wondering if anyone knows if you can use a previously formatted iPod Nano (4th Gen) with a Mac that has XP Bootcamped on to it. If the Nano is placed in manually manage music with the original computer it was formatted with, will it be able to accept music, movies, podcasts, etc from the windows on the Mac or will they still be incompatible?

Well, I have 4 internal drive bays filled already, is there room somewhere for 5th one in the box? I wasn't aware of it if there is?? My mac is MacPro3,1, early 2008.
That macsales.com link is interesting but I'm not in the US (I'm in Croatia), and all those brands are supidly expensive here, that $80 esata docking station is almost $200 here... bahh. For that price I may as well buy a whole new 3TB external disk, I want to dock the old one to save money.
I've browsed around and I've found Icy Box docks, which have much more reasonable prices:
    BOX IB-110StUS2-B
    ICY BOX IB-111StUS2-Wh
    ICY BOX IB-115StUS2HC
They all claim to have OSX support... anyone have any experience with them?

  • I have an ipod touch second gen, how can i download the facebook app if it says its not compatable with my current iOS?

i have an ipod touch second gen, how can i download the facebook app if it says its not compatable with my current iOS?
i had the facebook app but i could never upgrade it and i was ok with using the outdated version but when i reset the ipod so i could gift it to a friend it obviously got rid of the app and now i cant downloaded because it says its not compatable, how can i download the version i had before i reset it?

Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.
