Nano 4G - Sleep function and volume question

Hey all,
i'm owning my first ipod right now and i'm kinda disappointed...mainly concerning two things..I hope someone more experienced with a ipod can assist me...
1. problem: sleep function @ ipod 4G..is there one? i didn't find anything to auto-shut-off the decive after eg. XX minutes...
2. problem: volume: even when I decrease the volume to the minimum, it's still too loud..I would like the volume to be lower to listen eg. to the ipod when falling asleep..is a bigger decrease of the volume possible?
best rgds,
max

to clarify it: i mean a SLEEP TIMER, the function which should switch off the ipod after a specified time period...it's impossible that the ipod 4g doensn't offer that STANDARD feature...

You can do an export of the user itself, excluding table data as inH:\>exp

Export terminated successfully with warnings.Unfortunately, you can't export just the objects you want to unless they are tables.
Using import (imp) you can list the content of your packages, procedures, functions, views, etc. and perhaps that will give you what you need.
Another choice would be to useSELECT * FROM user_source ORDER BY 2, 1, 3;to list the code.

  • Sleep button and volume buttons not working

Just got an Ipod Touch(4th Generation) for Christmas. It seemed to have been working fine, Untill the sleep button and the volume buttons stopped working. They came back on after and hour or so, And several times in the past few days this has happened. Yesterday though, They cut off again and haven't worked at all since. Anyone know how I could fix this without sending it in to Apple? Any answers are strongly appreciated

Sounds like a short; however, you can try restoring and updating from within iTunes.

    Hello, Juniorjr2.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
This sounds like screen curtain may be enabled.  Screen curtain is a feature that allows display privacy.  To disable screen curtain while VoiceOver is enabled, you can three finger triple tap the screen to disable this feature.  You may need to press the home button once in order to process these steps.  If you wish to disable VoiceOver, see the link in the article below.

  • IPod Touch 4th Gen. iOS 5.1.1 - Sleep Mode and Other Questions

    Hello,
I have an iPod Touch 4th generation with iOS 5.1.1
    1) RE: Sleep Mode - I found this on another thread and it's regarding iOS 4.3.1.
Is the same still true for iOS 5.1.1?
If so, what is recommended for sleep mode - Airplane mode or Wi-Fi off - or is either one ok?
Wi-Fi is always ON with the 4th generation model running 4.3.1 when it is sleeping unless you either turn off the Wi-Fi or turn Airplane mode ON.
    2)  I only use my iPod Touch on my home Wi-Fi and do not use any cloud based syncing or iTunes Wi-Fi Sync.  I do all my syncing manually from my MacBook Pro via USB to the iPod Touch.  The way I do things is purchase what I need from my MacBook Pro via iTunes and then manually sync it to the iPod Touch.  But there may be times, in the future, where I would want to purchase directly from the iPod Touch.
I recently updated my AppleID with my new email address via my MacBook Pro.  But, I noticed that on my iPod Touch under "Settings" "Store" that it still shows my old AppleID.  I have all Automatic Downloads set to OFF.  How do I update the iPod Touch to reflect my new AppleID?
    3) When I'm using Safari and I navigate to several websites, how do I easily get back to my home page (which is set to Yahoo!)?
Probably a dumb question but I can't seem to figure it out.  I've set Yahoo! to my homepage but I would think there should be or is (and can't find it) a button/icon like on my MacBook Pro Safari to take me directly back to the homepage.
Thanks in advance for the help!

    - Unless you use bluetooth, airplane mode and wifi off are the same as regards to battery drain. I like use airplane mode sinc that is directly under Settings.
    - Go to Settngs>Store and sign out of existing account and sign in with the updated one
    - I have no idea for the Safari question

  • IPod Touch 4G Sleep/Power and Volume buttons not working/responding

I got my iPod touch 4th Generation last Christmas from Japan.
After 2 days, I updated to iOS 4.2.1.
The next day the buttons stopped working.
Everything else works perfectly except for the three buttons on the side.
I've seen other posts about this issue before.
Sometimes it works then it doesn't, sometimes it works, then it doesn't.
It works fine randomly. But most of the time, it isn't working.
I found a solution where all you have to do is
disable the auto-lock(set it to "never") and hold the two volume buttons and the sleep/power buttons at the same time but that doesn't work for my iPod.
I tried resetting (Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings),
    restoring it and even
draining the battery and turning it on again but to no avail.
I had to make do with ejecting it from iTunes while holding the sleep button then unplugging it while still holding the sleep button.
It worked for a while, but not anymore.
My friend's got the same issue.
    Anyone got any other solution?

  • Enter triplet values in piano roll... and volume question

How can I get the piano roll grid view to temporarily change to subdivisions of 3 per per beat (instead of 4) in a 4/4 piece so I can align triplets?
Also, how do I change the volume of a single note in the piano roll editor?
    TIA

    1. In the transport bar, where you see the time signature (default 4/4), just below that is the beat subdivision. You can click on it and drag up or down to change the value. A value of 12 will subdivide a beat into thirds.
    2. You can't really change the volume of a note, per se, since volume is a MIDI parameter that doesn't apply to single notes, but rather as continuous data. You can, however, change the velocity of notes, which will affect the volume of the note if the note's velocity is programmed for volume change. To do this, choose the Velocity tool (escape, then 9) and click the note and drag up or down.

  • Slow sleep function and others

for the past 3-4 months my macbook pro has been taking about 30 seconds to go into sleep mode, regardless of what programs are open. in the past week or so, it as also been taking very long to open pictures in preview and to load pictures into iphoto (i recently upgraded to iphoto 11, which is a huge step backward in efficiency.) i hhave 4 gb of ram and 333 gb of hd space.

Is that the amount of free space on the hard drive? If not how much is there?

  • Time Capsule as two functions, and wireless question.

    Hi,
I've just bought an 2TB Airport Time Capsule and I am a bit curious of the user options of it.
    1. Can I use my Airport Time Capsule (5th gen) as both as an external hard disc, and using Time Machine to do backups?
    2. Is there any other options using the Time Capsule?
    - Currently I have connected the TC to the Internet through my original Wi-Fi router (with an Ethernet cable).
    - Then created a new network in addition to my original network.
    - What I'm wondering about is if there is any chance of having the TC completely wireless and not having the Ethernet cable connected, only the power cable?
If anyone knows anything, I would be very grateful!
Thank you very much in advance!
    Best,
    - Nord

Yes, you can store files on the TC.. it was never really designed to do it.. If you mean by usb no, the TC is always network drive.
You can plug in USB drive to the TC to maintain a separate area for files. That is somewhat safer than loading them to the internal disk. But is slow.
TC cannot back itself up. TM cannot backup network drives. So if you store files on the TC how are you going to back them up.
    TC cannot be partititioned.
Read Pondini about using it this way. Q3 here. http://pondini.org/TM/Time_Capsule.html

Yes, you can make the TC completely wireless. It will become a dumb client of the existing router. When you setup like this the TC will stop working as a WAP.. it will stop being dual band.. it will stop the ethernet ports working. Basically you will reduce the TC to a hard disk..wirelessly connected to the existing router.
All files copied to the TC will now go at half the normal wireless speed to your normal router due to double hop wireless. It no longer directly possible to communicate with it.. all packets go via the main router.
It is already subject to corruption over wireless.. you will now have it doublely prone to corrupt.
    Don't do it.

  • Has the nano 6th the "sleep" function?

Has the nano the "sleep" function?. I mean, if you can set 20 minutes (for example) and if you don't press any button, it turn off automatically at 20 minutes.
Very useful to sleep listening to music.
    Thanks.

  • Sleep function = wireless problem?

I have an Intel iMac 2.4 GHz/OS 10.5.2 (the earlier version of Leopard came pre-installed) and a lynksis router.
Like many others I experienced an unstable wireless connection from day 1 with this computer. The other two Macs in the house, both running Tiger had and have no such problem.
Changing the router channel from 6 to 3 seemed to help somewhat, but the problem persisted.
I noticed it was worse when the computer had just been wakened from sleep. That is, the wireless signal would start strong then quickly fade away. I found that putting the computer back to sleep, then immediately waking it up would restore the signal, but I often had to do this a dozen times during a session of an hour or so.
Since there seemed to be some connection between the sleep function and the wireless connectivity I decided to experiment. I went to System Preferences/Energy Saver and set the sleep function to Never. The screen is still set to black out after fifteen minutes. So now the computer is awake all the time, only the screen darkens after some inactivity.
For three days now the wireless signal has been extremely robust - no fading out whatsoever and the bars have remained at full strength. This certainly doesn't explain the cause of the problem, but it does seem to be an effective work-around, at least so far.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? And can anyone explain why the sleep function would affect wireless connectivity?

That a graphics update would fix the sleep function (not to mention the associated wireless issues) seemed odd to me too. I'm just reporting what the Apple tech said. I do have the impression that if they really can't solve your problem their next objective is to get the caller off the line as pleasantly as possible. That may possibly be the case here.
I would certainly be interested to know if anyone else has a similar problem. The two necessary conditions seem to be:
    1. Sleep function (as set from System Preferences) unreliable, e.g. doesn't always put the computer to sleep, sometimes invokes such a deep sleep that the computer must be unplugged to restart, sometimes wakes up by itself;and
    2. Wireless signal slows to a crawl shortly after awakening from sleep (and in my case, remains unstable, requiring toggling sleep on/off or airport card on/off to resume strong signal.)
As long as I have the sleep function set to Never the wireless problem disappears. It's been almost two weeks now, so I'm pretty sure there's some link between the two conditions. After the last software update from Apple a couple of days ago I reset the sleep function back to 15 minutes and the wireless fade immediately started up again. Reset it to Never, and, voila!, no problem since.
I hope anyone else who has both sleep and wireless problems will try this. So far it's the first reliable clue I've found regarding the issue of unstable wireless.

  • Ipod Nano volume question

    Hi,
I use my nano as a music source on my motorcycle connected to an Autocom intercom. I have found it to be the best think yet for non skip music.
As I normally wear ear plugs I have always had a problem getting enough volume from other sources. However, with the nano I realise that you can import from itunes with a volume level adjustable up to +100%. I have found that at this import level I only need the volume turned up to about 80% on the nano when on the bike. However, even with AAC tracks I can hear some minor sound distortion.
My question is would I benefit copying from itunes to the nano at, say +75%, and then have to use more volume on the nano or remain with +100% and use less volume on the nano?
Or another way of asking is will I get better quality from increasing the volume from an import from itunes at a lower volume or increasing the volume on the nano to max?
    Hope that makes sense!
    Thanks,
    Mark

I encountered this problem about a week into using it. I restored my iPod to fix the problem.
Everything was fine for me for about a week, but then at the start of one run, the Nike+ voice tried to say two sentences to me at the same time. I think it was the "Walk around to activate your sensor..." and whatever instruction happens next at the same time. From this point on, all of my songs and Podcasts were less than half the original volume, but the Nike+ voice was full volume. This basically ruined the rest of my workout.
I suggest trying to reset your iPod to see if this fixes the problem, and if not, then do a restore to your iPod.
The only bad thing about doing a restore is then your iPod loses all of its workout history, so from that point on your history is only on the Nike+ web site. Too bad iTunes doesn't transfer the workout history back to the iPod...
    Good luck,
    Brian
