Nano 5G says 0 songs after successfull synching

This is driving me insane. I bring my Nano home from the gym to update it and it first says that it needs to be reset so I wipe the lot. After rechoosing my audio books and albums it merrily goes away and syncs about 7Gb in total. It tells me the nano i synched but when I eject it it's empty, but it's not.
When I plug it back in it says there is no space on the device. So Clearly it is syncing onto the Nano but it's not updating the menu to show there is any content.
Anyone seen this before? Nano and Shuffle problems are becoming a real bore. I wonder if Apple products are becoming as problematic as everyone elses.

Why did you restore instead of "resetting " your iPod?

Personally can't answer that one as I am having no issues with my iPod Nano nor any other Apple products. Shuffle works just fine on my Ipod Nano.
Make sure your firmware and iTunes are updated.

my ipod nano4th gen will not download the purchased songs in itunes v11.  Just upgraded to mac 10.6.8-won't synch new songs since this upgrade.  The ipod is seen in the itunes as the devise, and the nano screens says synching when plugged into the macmini usb port, but the itunes window does not say it is synching like it has before so whats the culprit? Techno virgin in distress!
PS - I added an iphone5 which is whay these upgrades happened so this synching to the ipod error is since the iphone began synching.

I just learn in some post that the most common lapses in syncing is not checking if "sync music" in music section of the ipod is ticked. So double check if it is. Cheers!

The iPod backup that iTunes makes does not inlcuded synced media like apps and music. Thes those iTunes are not restored to the iPod unless they are in the iTunes library.
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Have ipod classic and after performing synch have lost almost 800 songs - how do i find the missing music please

have ipod classic and after performing synch on this occasion have lost almost 800 songs and they do not appear in my library either.

If the music has disappeared from your iPod and is not in your iTunes library, I'm afraid you are out of luck.  If the lost music was imported from CD's are from outside the iTunes store, you'll need to reimport each of those tracks.
Otherwise, if the music was purchased from the iTunes store and you are using iTunes 10.3 or later and living in the US, you can redownload it again at no cost.  See this article for more details.

  • Can iPod nano playback on same song after sync?

    Hello,
Everytime when I add new music to my playlist on my ipod nano, I disconnect and go back to continue to play same song on where i left off, it randomly goes to a new song after syncing?! I always keep my playlist on shuffle, could that be the problem?   It does not happen to my podcasts, which continue on where i left off whenever I sync. I'm confused, please help

To create or access a second (or more) library, hold down the Option key (or Shift key in Windows) when launching iTunes 7. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to the other Library.
Note: You can only have one Library open at a time and iTunes will default to the last library opened if you don't use the keyboard command to choose one: Using multiple iTunes libraries -Mac

Sign-in to your iTunes Store account (Store menu > View my account).
At the bottom of the Account Information page is a Reset box to click to reset all warnings for buying and downloading.  Click the "Done" button when you're finished.

  • When I updated to iOS7, and I'm sorry I did, I had about 50  songs synched to my iPhone from my MacBook.  After the upgrade my list has an additional 500  songs via iCloud.  How do I eliminate them from the iPhone?  I want only the songs I've synched.

When I updated to iOS 7 it added over 500 songs, via iCloud, to my song list.  I do not want those on my iPhone.  I want only the 50 or so songs I've synched from my MacBook.  How do I delete all those iCloud titles from my list?

Just found the switch in settings.  Problem sovled.  Thanks anyway!

  • Computer says songs on Nano, but don't show on Nano...

I can load songs on wifes new Nano.
The song list of what is on the Nano comes up on the computer screen, will even play.
When I unplug Nano from computer and try to play thru earplugs, the Nano tells me there is no music on device.????????

This isn't foolproof but there are usually two things that contribute to songs not appearing under Artist on the iPod, both due to information either in or missing from the Get Info>Info tab against the song in iTunes. 1) the song is marked as part of a compilation or 2) it is missing an album name.
If the tracks are ticked in the Get Info>Info tab as part of a compilation, they will not appear under Artist on the iPod. Highlight a song in iTunes that you know is not appearing correctly on your iPod. Right click on it and choose Get Info and click the Info tab (alternatively choose Get Info from the File menu), if "Part of a Compilation" is marked untick it and afterwards update your iPod, you should find it now appears as normal. Compilations are stored in a separate folder in iTunes so the songs don't appear inside the normal Artist>Album folder which may be why this happens.
Also if tracks are missing an Album name in the Info tab, this information needs to be filled in. The no album one is a bit quirky as the songs will appear under certain circumstances but the simplest remedy is just add None or Miscellaneous in place of a title. See this link for more detail: I don't see some of my songs when browsing by artist on my iPod

  • IPod Nano wont update songs!!!

Okay, when I plug my ipod nano into the USB port and my itunes pop up, the stage where my ipod would usually update itself is replaced with a popup window that says: Songs on "iPod Nano" cannot be updated because of all the playlists selected for updating no longer exist.
Yes, I have no playlists right now, for some reason in the past I deleted them all. But this problem has erased all the songs and things I have on my ipod and since it wont update my songs I cant seem to put them back in (this includes the burned ones and ones bought from the music store). I am totally confused on what to do, someone PLEASE help!!

I am experiencing, for the first time, a VERY similar issue; except I have MANY playlists, and, up until now, I have been able to selectively manage them on my iPod (2Gb iPod, 60Gb of music). Now, all of a sudden, I get the error that is quoted above, although I have already restored iPod twice, reinstalled iTunes once, as well as selected manual sync, and they all "crap-out" about 1/3 of the way thru the synch-job. Never before have I had any similar problems with my product. Please help.

Yes, configure your ipod to update with your new playlists.
Click on the name of the ipod in the itunes source list

  • IPod touch duplicates songs after updates

My I-pod touch duplicates some (not all) songs after every IOS update. The only way I've found to correct this is to restore my I-pod and then synch everything again; very annoying and time-consuming. This occurs even after turing off I-Cloud Match. Any ideas/suggestions?

The only solution is the delete the non-playing songs and resync them or redownload them. Sometimes some files on the iPod get corrupted during and update. You may even have to restore the iPod:
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • My brand new 6th gen ipod nano keeps shutting down after about 30 seconds?

My new 6th generation ipod nano keeps shutting down after 30 seconds. It has been registered with itunes and has about 200+ songs on it. I have not tried to reset it because i was not sure what this would do. Please help!

This is usually a sign that your headphones are not plugged all the way in.  Make sure you cannot see any silver still showing from the headphone's plug.  It may require a little extra force to get the headphones to become fully inserted.  You should hear a sort of clicking noise indicating that they have been fully seated.
Also check the headphone port from a damage or debris.
