  • TS1538 I have gone through all troubleshooting steps and can't find a solution. My iPhone is no longer showing up in iTunes. Can anyone help?

I have gone through all of the troubleshooting steps and still do not see my iPhone 4 (6.1.3) when I connect with USB to iTunes. Can anyone help?

I'd try removing and then re-installing iTunes.  An uninstall will not remove your music etc.  That should re-install the usb drivers etc. I don't think you can separately delete and install the drivers.

  • Since the latestest iTunes Update, can't sync new music

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but as long as I purchase something from the iTunes store, it "syncs" it over the Cloud and it shows up on my iPhone 4s.  But if I move an mp3 or 4 into my iTunes, it shows up in iTunes, but not n my phone.  So, I plugged in my phone, opened iTunes, went to music, chose sync all music and pressed the sync button.  It starts to sync, I see the song I'm trying to get on my phone, but then it gets to step 5 and "hangs up" on that step forever.  I cancel the sync, but it doesn't complete the cancel.  So I quit iTunes and look at my phone, and it still has the sync circle going on it.  It won't stop, so I have to shut off my phone and restart it to get the sync symbol to stop.  The music nevers get to me phone.  Thoughts???

Thanks but I've already done that to. It has authorised the computer and tells me there are two devices authorised to use this account.  This will be because the computer was send away for a repair and came back with a new hard drive. Once I've bought the music do I have to do something with it before it will sync to phone ?
The new music seems to be in the right place and boxes are ticked but the new music won't transfer , everything else seems to be in order

  • I have music on my ipod that is no longer on my pc. How can I sync new music that is on my pc to my ipod without loosing the music that is currently on the ipod?

I have an iPod Generation 4. I have been using it with my pc Windows 8 iTunes for some time with no problem. Recently I had to do a system restore and reinstall itunes 7. It works great but  I lost all of my music in itunes but  I still have all of my music on my iPod. When  I try to sync new music I have to my ipod itunes tells me it will erase all existing content on my ipod and replace it with the new content. My question is: How can I add my new music without loosing my old music?

  • Why can't iTunes 10.4.1 add new music to my iPod?

Just upgraded to iTunes 10.4.1 and am now having problems adding songs and podcasts to my iPod touch. I drag the file of the podcast or song over the playlist on my iPod on the side bar, a little green plus sign appears, and then nothing else; The song/podcast is NOT on my iPod. What gives?

    - Transer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPOd under Devices in iTunes and select backup
    - Restore the iPOd from that backup.
Now the computer will be your syncing computer.

  • I want to upload music to my iPhone, but it is synced to a dead computer. iTunes says that I can't add new music until I de-authorize the other comp (which I can't). Any suggestions?

I've got a bunch of old music on my iPhone which would definitely be lost if I synced it with this new computer. Is there a way for Apple to not be so obnoxious and let me keep my rightfully owned music?

You will have to upgrade your operating system version and possibly your whole computer.  We cannot provide more information easily until we know more about your system.
Get more information about your computer. Go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window, then "About This Mac", then "More Info..."  Copy and paste the information here, but omit the serial number and Hardware UUID (if present).
Apple does tell you about required equipment for the iPhone -- in 8 point medium gray type on a light gray box.   The Store associates kind of automatically assume everybody is running a new model computer and the one I met when we bought our iPhone had never seen a pre-2008 Mac and was somewhat puzzled why anybody would own such an antique.

    Hello Anne Marie Larson
Check out the first article below to get your iPhone to show up within iTunes. If you made a purchase within the iTunes Store you can actually download it with your iPhone being plugged in, the second article will help with that.

  • With an empty iTunes but a music-filled phone, how can I get new music to the iTunes then to my phone without deleting the music on my phone?

The computer I had all of my iTunes music on recently got a virus and was completley wiped. I will now be attempting to use my laptop for iTunes, which I just installed. But now my iPhone 4 has 150+ songs and my iTunes has none. I know I cannot transfer my music from iPhone->iTunes, but can I download new music to my iTunes, then sync my phone and not lose all my music? I am basically asking if I have only 20 songs on my iTunes that aren't on my phone, is there a way to sync and add the music from iTunes to my phone (already has music on it) without replacing it with everything I have on it?
    Thank you so much!

You can't. Sorry. In order to sync with a new iTunes library, the media on the phone will be wiped.
Music purchased from the iTunes store can be re-downloaded at no charge. Anything else will have to be restored from the last backup of your computer before it was wiped or you will need to purchase 3rd party software to try and extract the music from the phone.

  • Nano no longer shows up as device in itunes

My nano no longer shows up as a device in Itunes.  Connection is good as it still charges, but nothing when I plug it in.  Does not show up as device in windows either.

Until you fix it, make future purchases in itunes direct.
Are you using a different computer? Mac or Windows?
    Which iTunes version?
Any security software potentially blocking access to AppleTV from iTunes.
AppleTV1 as you know has 2 modes - streaming and syncing.  It has to be configured as a sync library for purchases to transfer to itunes and for you to sync to it.  Synced content appears under My Movies etc.  Streaming only content appears under My Shared Movies etc if a sharing libarry is configured.
You cannot copy purchases back to a shared itunes library only the sync library.  Both sync and share connected AppleTVs however should appear under Devices in itunes.  Can you send a song to AppleTV from itunes using Airplay?  The fact that you can buy on AppleTV means it's connected to the internet - it does not mean that it is connected with iTunes on your LAN - the 2 things are separate.
If you no longer have a sync library you would need to change exisitng settings which will delete current synced material but apparently (never tested so can't be sure) not non-backed up purchases.
Under AppleTV's Settings>Computers menu, the top entry is teh sync library - if this is greyed out then either it's no longer available (eg different computer) or AppleTV and itunes are not connected.  If you select it and choose to remove it,you can re-add the AppleTV to itunes afresh - if itunes doesn't see the AppleTV requesting a pairing when you try this either there's a communication/network issue (hardware or software related) or perhaps itunes installation corruption.
    Good luck.

  • No Nano - does not show up in ITunes or MY Computer

I'm new to the IPOD and have had the Nano 1 week of which I spent 6 days trying to figure out why it wouldn't show up in ITunes.
Solution - Eliminated extra drive assignments. I had used all the drive letter assignments from E: up to T: and had to remove the E: assignment so the Nano could use it.
More info - The first time I plugged the Nano in it worked great. I loaded music onto it that I had previously stored and was able to listen and play it.
So I decided to add more music from my CD collection.
I removed the 3.5" floppy drive from the laptop and inserted the CD reader.
!! That was the critical change because now the CD reader became D: drive which the Ipod had been using previously (I'm assuming, I never actually checked until it wouldn't work).
After that I spent days trying to figure out why the Nano would no longer show up in ITunes. See details below:
    What I've Tried:
    1st Use:
    Windows XP 2002 SP1
    Had Itunes already on PC
Charged Nano for a few hours until battery indicated full charge
Plugged in 1st time, loaded Nano with tunes, no issues.
    Played music for awhile
    2nd Use:
Swapped 3.5" Floppy drive for CD ROM drive
    Added more music from CD's
    Plugged in Nano
    ITunes opens up automatically
    Nano not shown in ITunes
Nano not shown on My Computer
Checked USB H/W configuration - shows IPOD connected
Nano is charging, indicates "Do Not Disconnect"
    Disconnect Nano
    Shut down, Restart PC
    Reconnect Nano
    No change - no Nano
Swapped USB Ports, no change - no Nano
    Disconnect Nano
    Reset Nano
    Reconnect Nano
    No change - no Nano
    Disconnect Nano
    Remove Itunes
    Reload Itunes from CD-ROM,
Connect Nano when prompted by installation program but apparently doesn't recognize Nano is connected
Installation gets stuck (45+ min) trying to "Format" Nano (Nano doesn't respond)
Skip to next part of installation
    Shutdown, Restart PC
    Reconnect Nano
    No change - no Nano
    Disconnect Nano
    Remove Itunes
    Reload Itunes from CD-ROM
Installation gets stuck again trying to "Format" Nano (Nano doesn't respond)
Skip to next part of installation
Set USB Drivers configuration to not disable power to USB port
    Shutdown, Restart PC
    Reconnect Nano
    No change - no Nano
    Shutdown, Restart PC
    Remove Itunes
    Shutdown, Restart PC
    Reload Itunes from CD-ROM
Skip connecting Nano as part of installation
    Shutdown, Restart PC
Run Ipod Updater 2005-09-06 program before plugging in Nano
    Connect Nano
    Restore software on Nano
    Nano Restores itself
    Nano indicates "Do not Disconnnect"
    ITunes opens up automatically
Nano still not shown in ITunes
Nano still not shown in My Computer
Checked System\hardware\device manager\USB Mass Storage Device indicates says "Location 0 (Ipod)" and device is working properly
    Unplug Nano
Swapped CD ROM with 3.5" Floppy drive
    Reboot PC
    Connect Nano
    Battery is already fully charged
Noticed little timer thingy in upper left of Nano spinning around, probably always did it but this is first time I noticed it.
    ITunes Opens
Nano still not shown in ITunes
Nano still not shown in My Computer
Nano shows up as USB Mass Storage Device under Safely Remove Hardware
Final solution - free up drive assignment E: so Nano can use it.

Glad you figured it out, but wow does that all make me glad I have a Mac!

  • After using apple hi-fi spkrs, ProductRed 8g nano doesn't show up in itunes

My product red 8 gig nano has been working well for nearly 2 mos. Then on Saturday I bought the apple hi-fi speakers.
Sounded great but when I went to add music today in Itunes 7, my nano no longer shows up in the navigation pane.
I can still play music and my nano seems to be charging fine in the universal dock, but aggravating to be unable to add music, sync contacts, etc.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hey there-thanks for the feedback My nano isn't showing up in itunes or my computer. Also checked the device manager and it isn't showing up there either.
My thought is that since it stopped working right after using the hi fi speakers once, the dock in the hi fi speakers may have damaged the nano's hardware.
Note, nano still plays both on its own and in the new speakers, just can't add tunes-argh!

When I went to update my iPod touch on iTunes, it said unable to update then the iPod shutdown and no longer showed connected in iTunes.  I have tried holding down both buttons for up to 3 mins with no luck turning it on, even after a full charge.  Help?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • AppleTV no longer shows up in iTunes after Snow Leopard security update?

I just installed the latest security update for Snow Leopard and now my AppleTV no longer shows up in iTunes. I don't know for sure if the security update is actually the cause, but I was able to connect not even an hour earlier in the evening.
Anyone else seeing this behaviour? I've power cycled the ATV, along with my router with no change.

Could be the same problem others are having with latest version of iTunes. See this thread:
