Nano and windows-the answer ?

Having been an avid reader of these forums since buying a Nano at Christmas, I am now on my second ipod nano nd that too has failed and is awaitng service or swapout when i have time to deal with it. My PC has win xp proff and is fully up to date and legit. My pc is a P3 500Mhz with half a gig of ram. It has a Belkin 5 port USB 2 card in it. On both occasions the nano's worked ok for a week or two and then suddenyl ceased to work. They both eventually exhibited the file folder with exc mark and both showed up as a drive in MY COMPUTER but could not be addressed to restore. All solutions on the support site were followed. First nano diagnosed as having "hard disk failure". By this i take to mean flash rom failure. Second one as yet undiagnosed.
The figures speak for themselves. The number of windows related posts is more than 8 times that of mac related posts.
Its obvious really, Apple have made macs for years. Every mac leaving the production line is of a known spec i.e they are all the same give or take a little. Meanwhile in PC land, PC's are infinately more times more variable and there are millions upon millions of combinations of hardware/software etc etc. The only common factors are that they are all generic "PCs" and for the most part, they have XP,hopefully fully updated. Even XP from one machine to another will have infinate variations.
It is no surprise then that there are more PC problems than mac problems and worse, the PC problem is one that forever changes and morphs.
Perhaps Apple underestimated this during product development, having been used to the relatively safe world of the Mac which was/is a standard known quantity.
It is now no surpise to me that a friend with an Apple Ibook has no problems with his nano and he sync's other ipods belonging to friends on the same machine with no bother.
On the other hand, two nanos connected to my PC have failed. I have little doubt that if i obtain a replacement,it will go the same way.
What do you people think?
PC Clone P3 500Mhz   Windows XP Pro   2 failed Nano's and counting...

i have the same problem. hang in there you'll figure it out
