Nano battery will only charge using AC Adapter
Hey there. This is a strange one. I have an 8Gb nano which has been working perfectly for the past three months. Now when i connect it to my PC using either the firewire or usb the battery icon changes to the charging icon but it doesnt charge. It just keeps draining the battery and eventually it goes flat! I'm using genuine ipod cables that have always worked. The only thing that works is if i use the Ipod AC charger with the firewire cable. Its doing my head in since i usually have my ipod at work and have it streaming music to my pc using the usb cable. If anyone can help i would be most gratefull.
Barney
Try a different USB port.
If you jiggle the connector around sometimes it will connect/disconnect the power part of the cable.
Some USB hubs only connect the data and not the power.

IPod will only charge using USB
hi, my ipod will not charge using a 110 or 12 volt charger, but will using USB - ideas? i restored and updated it.
If you are referring to the iPod Classic, it will only charge via the dock connector USB cable, either using a PC USB port or iPod wall charger. It also has a built-in safety circuit that will trip if the charging current goes above 1A at 5V.. So most 10W iPad charger will not work on the classic, unless it has a dual output port for lower current.
You can find these dual ports 10W iPad charger on eBay or Amazon.

Ipod touch will only charge in docking station after 3.0 upgrade
Prior to my recent (this week) upgrade to 3.0, my ipod touch could charge off of my desktop computer, my laptop, and my Apple USB wall charger adapter. That adapter is not the current version, but the prior model. Since I've done the upgrade, the ipod touch no longer recognizes it's attached to the adapter (and the wall outlet) or to the USB cable and computer. I am using the Apple supplied USB cable, so it is not a matter of using non apple equipment or Firewire. This week, it will only charge using a lamp that has a docking station. I've had the ipod touch about 4 months, and didn't have this issue until the 3.0 upgrade. Does anyone else have this problem and any ideas on how to fix it?
If the iPhone has no problem with the same cable then

MacBook 13" will only charge battery when on and open. why?
Hello,
My white 13" Macbook, model number A1181, will only charge the battery when the computer is on and open. If i close the screen down, the light on the AC adapter will go off about 2 seconds later, and will stop charging the battery or giving any power to the computer. When i try to start up the computer without the battery in, it will not start up.
When I attach the AC adapter to the computer and it is not open, or not on, there is just a faint green light on the AC adapters LED light. About 1/4 the normal brightness.
Also, a few days ago, the computer would randomly shut down when it was plugged into the AC adapter to charge my battery. I was surfing the web and it shut down three separate times. All while the AC adapter was in. After i took the AC adapter out, it stopped randomly shutting down.
I went to a friends house who has the same mac laptop, and have swapped out his battery and his AC adapter with mine in every combination and everything operates in the same way: not able to turn my computer on with his adapter plugged in and the battery out and a 1/4 as bright green light when the AC adapter is plugged in and the computer is off or the screen is shut. My AC adapter functions perfectly with his computer, as does my battery, perfectly normal.
I thought it might have been the DC in board, so i replaced that myself with a part i ordered online, and it was not the DC-in board, same problems persist.
It seems it must be something on the logic board that has shorted out or broken that routes the power when the computer is without battery, shut, or shut down. and there must be a separate line going to the battery charger, which is why that aspect of the computer is still able to function. this means however that my only option to keep using the computer is to keep the battery relatively full and NEVER let it drain anywhere near low, as i would not be able to boot it back up again if it fully drained.
Is this problem indicative that the whole system is on the way out? or might i get a few more months out of this thing by just charging the battery while it is open, and while im working? Any idea what this problem might be? It is past even the 3 year extended apple care plan we had, so that is not an option.
Saw someone post something similar to this in another thread where the power information was requested. Here is mine:

IPad won't charge using power adapter but will charge via USB
I have an iPad 1 that recently stopped charging using the power adapter. "Broken power adapter or cable" I thought and reached for a spare that I have. That didn't work either. The original power adapter however DID charge another iPad without any problems, so the problem cannot be with the adapter or cable.
Now this is the wierd bit - using the original cable plugged into my laptop I get the usual "Not charging" message but the iPad DOES charge slowly this way.
I rebooted the iPad, restarted it in recovery mode and restored the firmware, cleaned out the 30-pin connector port - all those useful bits of advice that you find on the internet but all to no avail. The iPad just will not charge using any of the many original Apple iPad charger sthat I have been able to get my hands on but will only charge on an underpowered USB port!
The 30-pin connector must work otherwise it wouldn't charge via USB. Can there be some kind of wierd internal hardware defect that might cause such behavior?
I fear that if I take a 3 year old iPad to the Apple Store they might just give me their best smile and show me the latest iPads but this old iPad works fine otherwise and I don't really want to replace it.
Anyone got any ideas?Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
And this - Unplug the charger from the iPad and then replug. May resume charging.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. My iPod touch 4th gen. Won't charge with a enercell charger that I've used since December. It will only charge with the apple USB cord that came with it. And even the takes it about 6 sec. To realize its charging. Help me fix this?
Yes, I've been using it for months. And I can charge other devices with it. (my iPhone) but something weird just happened..... I kept on pluging it in the iPod and sometimes it would start to chàrge then sometimes it won't charge. Charges every time with the iPhone though.

my ipod will only charge on the docking station. says it has a full charge but when I take it off the docking station it says battery is low so I've plugged it into the usb and plugged it into my wall outlet but it is still not charging. I'm not sure what generation it is, its an 80GB. Help?
The battery is possibly unable to take as much power as a normal battery. It may need a replacement battery.

My Macbook Pro shut down because the battery power ran out. Now I cannot start it and the battery will not charge. Only one green battery charge light lights up and blinks on the left side. I am running Lion. How do I get this to charge and turn on? Thanks
If your model Macbook Pro is the calibrating model, let the battery calibrate.
If not, and are still under warrant or have Apple Care, give them a call and get a case number. Otherwise, take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP. Whichever is more convenient for you. -
My grandson's IPad 2 won't hold a charge. It will only charge when the system is completely shutdown and it can take up to 8 hours to reach 100%! he's only 5 so he uses it to watch netflixs and playing games but a couple of hours after finally getting a full charge the indicater is down to 12%-13%. Keeping the system plugged up while he's using it doesn't do any good its like its not even plugged up. What could be wrong? Any assistance would be appreciated! I brought the IPad 2 in 2011 and gave it to him in 2013 when I brought myself the IPad Air...so its really not that old to be acting up...

Iphone4 Battery will not charge
iPhone 4 battery will not charge any ideas. This phone is 3 weeks old
Did you check the USB port/cable for any kind of debris or lint? Are you using the wall adapter? Can you use another USB cable?
If this does not work, get it serviced, you're still under warranty.

Satellite L500 - Battery will not charge
Hello,
I am hoping someone can help me. I have a L500 and all of a sudden my battery will not charge. As soon as I unplug the laptop from the power it shuts off. I have also tried another battery (although not a brand new one) and that battery will not charge also. The battery is currently on 8% and wont charge further, but also will not stay on when unplugged. Has anyone else had this problem, or know what I can try?
ThanksHi buddy,
Can you charge the battery when you turn off the notebook?
Do you use the original Toshiba AC/DC adapter?
For me it sounds like a hardware malfunction I mean if you have already tried another battery with the same result it seems that something is wrong with charging control on mainboard. This would mean the mainboard or another hardware parts needs replacing. This can be done from an authorized service provider. -
Hello Everyone,
This is my first time using the forum. My macbook battery will not charge. I have tried unplugging and doing an SMC reset but it did not seem to change. I have yet to try another magsafe charger. The charger has a dim green light while plugged into the computer. What should my next steps be, besides trying a new charger as well as being the most cost effective?
Thanks
-TBHi ..
The battery may need replacing.

Ideapad Yoga 13 will only charge to 12%
Hello, if this is the wrong forum, please let me know where to post. I couldn't find anything for an ideapad. Anyway, I have the ideapad yoga 13 and it will only charge up to 12%. I've tried to reseat the battery, recalibrate the battery, reinstalled the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under Device Manager, tried a different power supply, and uninstalled the power management software. It will charge, but only to 12%. The system tray says that it is plugged in and charging, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I'm not sure if this is a software issue, mobo issue, or batter issue. I'm comfortable reloading Windows 8.1 on it if I have to, but I don't want to waste anymore of my time trying to troubleshoot this thing. Has anyone had this issue or know the fix? Thanks!
Hi.
I don't know if an Ideapad has the same apps preinstalled as a Yoga 2 PRO. But I had almost the same problem, and found out that in the Apps section (the Lenovo section) there is an app called "Energy Manager" and within this there is an option called "Conservation Mode" - the last tab. This was turned on, and after I disabled it, it would charge the battery to 100%.
I don't know if this is a solutuion, but it is worth a try :-)
Kind regards

IPod classic will only charge from my computer
I have an iPod Classic 80gb and it won't charge from my wall charger or my car charger it will only charge from my iMac and MacBook Pro what can I do to fix this.
If it charges from your computer, then there is nothing wrong with your iPod charging. The problem then goes to your charger.
just in case, try a 12w charger or use a different charger.
