Nano can't be charged as soon as iTuner recognize it when plug-in

I have a iPod nano 1 GB size, using the USB 1.1 to connect to my Windows PC. During the connection, as soon as the iTune starts, the battery charging gets terminated. The only way i can charge my iPod is to disable the iPodServices from the windows' services list, and force the iPod to be charged because there is not application can recognize it. Is this strange? Any comments?

Mine won't charge either when iTunes is running (or even when its not). When I first got it, my first charge was done through a powered USB hub that wasn't connected to a PC, that worked fine. This trick also does not work anymore. The only way I've been able to charge my nano is to turn off iTunes and run the iPod Updater software. Then I connect my nano. I juts leave it like that and it will charge. Highly frustrating though - I want my nano to update with my podcasts overnight so I don't have to deal with it in the morning.

Will not work.  To my knowledge, dual converting like that isn't supported.  The Mac must detect the connected video output device and that sort of info cannot be done across an analog component uni-directional connection.

  • My iPod will charge through the wall outlet, but not PC. PC won't recognize it when plugged in.

I bought a used iPod nano that is giving me some grief. It works fine other than the battery not holding a charge. I have ordered a battery to replace the old one and am hoping this might be the problem.  Anyway I am having problems getting my PC to recognize it when I plug it in. I keep getting errors from windows that the PNP devices is having problems. I have tried all the troubleshooting tips on the Internet and still can't get it to recognize the iPod. I have 3 other 4th generation iPods that I have no problems with. Could the battery be the problem? I have changed cords to see if that was the problem, I have tried different computers and it gives me the same problem. Just curious if anyone knows what the deal might be.

  • My iphone 5 will not charge and will also not be recognised when plugging into my computer

    I need help.
I have looked on loads of forums but I seem to have 2 problems merged into one.
The first one is that my phone will not charge, i have tried different USB ports, different plugs (the only thing i havent got round to yet is checking the actual cable). I have clean the phone where the cable goes.
Also when i plug it into the computer, it says the USB is not being recognised and it also doesnt charge my phone.
I didnt update the phone last week when i was notified by itunes - will it have something to do with this. I have the latest version of itunes.
    Help
    Rhys

    Hello rleighton,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with the battery on your iPhone 5.  You have taken some really good steps to troubleshoot this issue already.  I found an article with a few additional steps you can take.
I recommend the following steps for the issue you described (you can skip any of the steps you have already taken):
    Resolving issues
If your battery doesn't charge, or if your device shows a low-battery image, black screen, or "accessory not supported" alert, follow these steps.
Inspect the connector at the bottom of the phone:
Make sure that there are no bent pins in the connector.
Make sure that the connector is free from debris.
If there are bent pins or debris, please contact Apple Support.
    Otherwise, continue troubleshooting.
Make sure that the outlet you're using works.
Make sure that the Apple USB cable and Apple USB power adapter work.
Plug the device in to power and let it charge for up to 30 minutes. If you don't have an Apple USB power adapter, try connecting to a computer's high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be on.
If the device still exhibits an issue, try turning your device off and then on again while connected to power.
If the issue is persists, please contact Apple Support.

  • 4th gen ipod nano - can't find games for it on itunes

I have just purchased a 4th gen ipod nano for my son and he wanted some games. Went onto itunes and purchased Crash Bandicoot Nitrokart game for £3.49. Couldn't get it to transfer to nano - but then noticed it's sitting in Applications (iPhone and iPod touch applications). Then went back into game and see that it says requirements are for iphone and itouch. Why did apple allow me to purchase this when I rgistered the nano when I setup itunes? Have searched for other games but all say the same requirement. Where can I find games that will download for nano? I have itunes 8.01 and ipod software is up-to-date

click on "iTunes Store", then on the left side of the screen, there should be a box near the top with:
    Music
    Movies
    TV Shows
    Music Videos
    Audiobooks
    Podcasts
    iTunes U
    iPod Games
    Apps Store
    listed. You want "iPod Games".

  • IPod nano 6th generation not charging, not showing in iTunes, won't reset

iPod 6th generation, completely out of battery.  Won't charge off iMac, plug socket or Macbook.  Won't show up in iTunes in any either.  Won't reset using the method i found on here (volume down button and sleep/awake button for 8-20 seconds).
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

hold down the enter button for 5 secs then plug into wall while still holding it down.

  • I had an iPod nano and then got a classic iPod, which then broke. So I wanted to start using my iPod nano again. I still have the same iTunes account, but when I try to sync this iPod with my iTunes nothing happens.

The music that was on this nano when I stopped using it a few years ago is still on it, and I want to replace it with other songs that I've added to my iTunes since then.

iPods (except for iPod touch) are not linked to any iTunes "account."  They are associated with your iTunes library. The account in iTunes is your Apple ID, and that is used to buy and download content from the iTunes Store.  It is not required to use an iPod.
The 1st (and 2nd) gen shuffle can only be used with one iTunes library at a time.  When you connect it, iTunes should prompt you to start using it with your iTunes library, and warn that the shuffle's existing content will be erased.  Have iTunes erase the shuffle, and it will be associated with your iTunes library going forward.  You can then add content to your shuffle.
The need for the previous owner's Apple ID and password should only come up if you are trying to transfer existing content from the shuffle to your iTunes library, AND the previous owner had content purchased from the iTunes Store.  Just cancel out of that step, if iTunes asks.

  • Can a bad battery affect my MBP's performance, even when plugged in?

Well, as the title says... my battery status says "Service Battery", and although I know the instructions are simple ("dude, take your laptop's battery for servicing!"), a few months ago my financial situation changed, I'm trying to adjust the budget as much as I can for now, and I'm not sure I can afford to spend much money at the moment.
The thing is, my laptop's performance has been slowly getting worse all the time. at first, it was only with resource-intensive applications, but lately, even having more than 5 tabs open in Chrome gets the system all laggy. Now, as I've read on other threads talking about batteries being in bad shape, I would assume that, if the system can't draw much power, it can't work as hard, so a bad battery could be the culprit of such performance. However, if my laptop's plugged in, shouldn't it be drawing power straight from the outlet, hence being able to get all the juice it needs to feed both the 9400M & 9600M GT?
Ah! by the way, the info I guess I shouldn't post this without: It's a Macbook Pro 5.3, purchased in March 2010. This is System Profiler's Power section info:

Not necessarily, if the battery is trying gobble some power, as the bad batt is still in the charge/power circut. 446 cycles is quite a bit, and not a bad run, it also depends on how it has been used.
I would replace it ASAP as it is possible that it may create/cause more severe issues. A new battery is less $$ than more serious damage that could possibly result from leaving it in.

  • Can i get a mac mini to boot by default when plugged in?

I am searching very long for a solution for this:
I want my mac mini to start by plugging in or an external switch even if there was no power failure. (which can be set in the energy saver preferences, box checked))
I found a thread which partly seems to concern this question, but i am not sure, may be some members here with more knowledge than me could  help me, i would be very pleased:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/12111266#12111266
    there i found the following:
"edited /usr/libexec/upsshutdown to send "shutdown -hu now" in both a normal shutdown or UPS shutdown. the -u simulates a dirty shutdown (see man shutdown) so when the UPS does powercycle it brings the Mac back online." posting by Glenn Gerrad
This seems to me as if i could use this change just to simulate dirty shut down indepenedent of having this APC UPS this thread is about, but i am not sure how to start this change for i am not used to work with the terminal and im afraid of ruining something because i am really unsure about the whole meaning of this thread. May be someone experienced can help me what to do?
    Thank you !
(at the moment i am using hibernate, which works but i would prefer restart, because i eperienced some strange things which i could avoid by a clean start up.)

1.) Open Automator (Applications) and choose "Application" on startup.
2.) Find "Run AppleScript" in the list on the left side
3.) Drag & Drop that action to the right side
4.) In the text field of the script insert
do shell script "sudo shutdown -hu now" with administrator privileges
5.) Save that application to your hard drive and you can double click it.
6.) When running that application you have to enter your password, and it will shutdown the mac.
7.) You can hard code your password to the program with
do shell script "sudo shutdown -hu now" with administrator privileges password "yourpassword"
But the password isn't encrypted in the Shell Script!
Be aware: double clicking that application will immediately shut down the computer without asking for saving changed  files - they'll be lost!

  • My ipad 1 won't charge and my computer/itunes doesn't recognize it when plugged in.

I have tried multiple outlets and adaptors.  I have down soft reset.  I have erased all data and tried to restore.  nothing helps!

If it has been on a good charger, connected by a good cable to a known good electrical outlet for more than 30 minutes and you are getting no response from the device there is most likely a hardware failure. Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • HT1369 Something has happened to the iPod sync process.   After updating iTunes SW, I can no longer sync my iPod.  iTunes recognizies teh device but the sync is always gray.  Windows controls teh device not iTunes.  I have gone through all of the diagnost

When I run diagnostics, the iPod is not recognized.  This occurs on both of my PCs, Desktop and Laptop.  The device is a 4th Gen iPod.  Always worked in the past until I updaetd iTunes.  Anyone have this issue and solved it?

Disregard this... I found the issue.  I have AirWatch MDM installed.  For some reason, the restrictions blocked me from syncing videos.  I don't know how that happened being that I am the Admin for the AirWatch MDM at my company - I made sure i allowed everything possible being that its configured for BYOD.  I guess something with the update to 8.0.2 screwed with it somehow.  It worked fine after uninstalling the AirWatch Profile and MDM.

  • Nano can't charge

I am using a power adaptor to connect nano with the main socket for charging up nano's battery. This method works well for my old one (nano 1st generation), but it doesn't work in my new nano (3rd generation). The 3rd generation nano can only be charged by computer USB. It is very inconvenient for me since I am a frequent traveller and I am not always onboard with a computer.
Experts, please help me to solve!

I don't have a reply for you, but the same thing happened to my nano today. It is the first time I have charged it using a power adaptor since I upgraded iTunes. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the problem or not
