Nano display

My Nano display has a "blotch" on it and nothing else can be seen. I have reset it and nothing. I have restored and still nothing. Ideas?

The "blotch" looks like an explosion from the inside, a water mark. It is only 1 week old. I can only see the "blotch" on the screen, the background is white, but no words or letters. Not using anything else on the screen and it had been working up to a few days ago.

  • Nano displays Apple icon on selection of playlists

My Nano displays the Apple icon for a few seconds when I select playlists and then returns to the previous menu. In iTunes the playlist contents are visible, but I can't reach them through the ipod menu. I can traverse all other menu options. Anyone have experience with this?
    Thank you.

Tom - Yes, mostly or only podcasts in fact. And I was mistaken re the menu order. I choose "Music" and then the apple icon appears for a few secs and then I'm back to the main menu. I think I see where you were going with this and just added a new item to an existing playlist... and now I can get to all my playlists and artists.
    Why?
Thanks so much for your help.

  • Ipod nano displays apple icon and doesn't work

I bought this nano as a gift (I already have an identical one). There were no problems syncing the content and registering the device, but once it is disconnected from the system, if you navigate to a song on the device and hit "[play", the screen goes black and will only display an apple icon.
I returned the first one thinking it's a hardware issue, but the replacement is doing the exact same thing, leading me to believ it is a setting or software issue. I got the replacement in a completely different Best Buy too, just to try and get one from a different batch. Any ideas what's going on?

Make sure you are using the latest version of iTunes and the Ipod's firmware is up to date.
Make sure the "screen lock" is not set to on. Make sure the hold button at the top of iPod Nano is in the "off" position.

  • A tech issue with my 4th gen Nano - displays only the Apple icon

    Hello,
I really hope that someone will be able to suggest a solution to my problem. I bought my Nano from the US about an year ago and it has been working perfectly till now... About two weeks ago I left it at home and did not use it for a week or so. After that when I took it with me one day I noticed that it was out of battery. So far so good...
After I got back home I plugged it in the PC and the problems began.. iTunes recognized it as corrupted so I restored it. Now I can upload whatever I want but it will not display anything else but the Apple icon It is not the battery as it when it is unplugged it still displays this icon.
I have been reseting it, too. No change - it just turns off and then on again - displaying the annoying icon :((((((((
It is not the cable either - I tried using it with my boyfriend's cable [he has the same iPod, the only difference is that his is 16 GB]. Again - the freaking apple stays there.
I have been restarting my computer, plugging the iPod in and out, reseting it, restoring it... I'm desperate. Please help me You are my only hope as it is already out of warranty and I'm in Bulgaria :[ oh, did I mention that I reinstalled iTunes several times, I even tried syncing the iPod with another PC - it can be synced there, too, but again - no change in the display.
It is stuck at this Apple icon and it does not make the clicking noise either.
Thanks in advance, I would REALLY appreciate any help/suggestions I'm really sad, this was a gift and I loved it :[

  • Nano displays contacts details wrong

    Hi everybody,
have any of you come across a problem with contact details with contacts that were synchronized from Outlook ?
Although I don't really like Outlook, I've installed it to sync my Contacts and Calender to my Nano 5G.
So I entered all the details I know about my contacts like email addresses, websites, etc. But after syncing my contacts and calender to the Nano, every email address is shown as "work". Not "email", "email2", "email3" or something like that. The same with the website. My Nano doesn't say "website" or "www" but "work", although everything is correct in Outlook.
So every contact looks like this:
    John Apple
    mobile 001-555-12345
    home 001-555-23456
    work [email protected]
    work [email protected]
    work [email protected]
    work www.facebook.com/people/John-Apple
Could anyone please give me a hint if this is a bug or what I could do about it, so my Nano would correctly display these details ?
    Many thanks,
    Andreas

Of course I have a Nano 5G. That's what I've been writing in all my posts :-o
"*Although I don't really like Outlook, I've installed it to sync my Contacts and Calender to my Nano 5G.*"
So why do you ask if I've got a Nano 5G ?
I had actually hoped for only ONE person with a Nano 5G to check out his own contacts and see if he's got the same labels displayed for the different contact data. This would actually help me more than driving to an Apple store a few hundred kilometers away, as I'm currently not even sure if it's a bug or not. If someone tells me that his contact data is displayed correctly with "email" and "www" in front of it, then I know that my Nano has got a problem. If everybody here gets the data displayed as "work" as well, then I know that EVERY Nano 5G certainly does it like that, and then driving to an Apple Store won't be of any use.
So please... Could someone with a Nano 5G please take a look at his own contacts ? It would help me a lot, and it's only a matter of 5 seconds, much less than it takes to write that I should read the manual or ask Apple
Unfortunately I personally don't know a friend with a Nano 5G, that's why I thought I'd ask some other ipod users on this forum if they could have a short look.
    Thanks and greetings,
    Andreas

  • Nano displays "Clouds"

Here's a weird one for you. Ipod Nano (2nd G) that is only about a month old. Not abused by any means, just normal use. Hasn't been used for about a week. Went to turn it on today and the screen lights up but only displays what looks to be a picture of smoky clouds (As if you looked in the sky on a bright but cloudy day.) Very hard to explain but the screen won't display anything else but this "cloud picture". Music still plays fine as long as you can navigate to the music folder by memory. Hard reset has not changed anything and it is being recognized by Itunes with no problem and updating as normal. Any thoughts?

Has it been exposed to any water or has it been sat on?
Have you tried the 5Rs or restoring your ipod?
Here is info to help you if you decide to restore or use 5Rs.
Here is info about restoring your ipod.
    To restore your iPod:
Warning: Because Restore erases all of the songs and files on iPod, make sure to back up any files you've saved on the iPod disk. All of your songs, videos, podcasts, audiobooks, and games can be loaded back to your iPod provided that you have them stored in your iTunes Library.
    How to restore your iPod:
Make sure you’ve reinstalled the latest version of iTunes.
Open iTunes, and then connect your iPod to your computer.
After a few moments, it will appear in the Source list in iTunes.
Select your iPod in the Source list and you will see information about it appear in the Settings tab of the main iTunes windows.
Click the Restore button. You will be prompted with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download of the latest iPod Software. The 4 possible restore options are:
Restore Option 1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod.
Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available.
Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.
Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.
A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started. When this stage is completed, iTunes will instruct you to leave iPod connected to your computer to complete restore.
Restore Instruction 1: Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
Restore Instruction 2: Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).
During the stage 2 of the restore process, the iPod will show an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remains connected to the computer or iPod Power adapter during this stage. Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see since the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
After stage 2 of the restore process is complete and the iPod is connected to the computer, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences similar to when you connected your iPod for the first time.

  • Everything on my nano displays upside down and backwards

Is there anyway to fix this. I have tried reset and that does not work either.

This is a the current iPod nano, with a touch screen.  If so, you use two fingers (touching the screen), and "rotate" the display.  See "Multi-Touch basics" here

  • TS1493 ipod nano displays cant sync. required disc cannot be found.  what do I do??

I have just bought a 6th gen nano.  when trying to sync it I keep getting the message Cant be synced. required disc cannot be found.  Any help on getting around this???

What have you tried in terms of troubleshooting so far?  Has the iPod ever been able to successfully sync with this PC and iTunes before or is this the first time you are connecting it?
I would first make sure you are plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port directly on your PC and NOT through a HUB.  If possible, use a different USB sync cable to rule out a damaged/faulty cable as well.
Is the Enable Disk Use option ticked from under the iPod's Summary tab in iTunes?

  • Nano displays way wore songs than synced??

I just had to create a "nano" playlist because my library is way too big to fit everything on my Nano. So know I only synced a couple hundred songs but when I am at the main menu it still says that I have over 1100 songs. Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Steve

Have not figured this one out, I need to reset my Nano every time I sync to get the correct song count. Good news is that I have my Nano full now and dont plan on changing it much. It will work great for when I need my small iPod, otherwise I use my classic which has my entire library on it.

  • Does anybody know if the new ipod nano displays the full song title if its really long?

i'm looking to buy one. I have an old zune hd and it doesn't allow you to view full song titles. It's a huge problem if you have a lot of classical music (which i do), because you see stuff like "Symphony No. 4 in" and then nothing else, no way to get more

The title should scroll, but I"m not positive if it does that on all models.

  • Ipod Nano full - no songs displayed

    Dear nano-users,
I bought the nano just 7 days ago,
first I experienced the disconnect problem, that even if i eject the nano on the display of the nano it told me not to disconnect.
Then I put the software update on it.
Now I don't see the nano on itunes displayed anymore.
Nor does Itunes start up, when I connect the nano by usb.
    Even worse:
On the nano display there aren't any songs anymore!
    'About'-menu: 0 songs, capacity 3.7GB, available 51.1 MB
I did a reset several times on the nano - but didn't change anything.
Now at the moment I can't use it at all.
Your comments or any help highly appreciated. Thanks.

Make sure you have iTunes 6.0.4 and iPod Updater 2006-03-23.
Try putting your iPod into disk mode before connecting and attempting the restore.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651
If you are not able to restore your iPod nano, try connecting it to your computer and waiting for your iPod to become recognized by Windows.
Once it is recognized by Windows, open up My Computer and look for either an Apple iPod or a Removable Disk. Right click on it, then click on format, then click on quick format, then click on start.
Usually, when you do this, your computer will become really slow to respond to your commands. It's important to be patient with it, and not to click on the same thing too many times. Doing so will only make the process take longer.
    Best wishes,
    CG
P.S. I've been hearing a lot of talk about problems with the iPod nano and the latest updater. Apple's tech support is fee-based, but you do get 1 free call within the first 90 days. If you're not able to resolve this issue through the steps above, you might want to consider giving them a call about this. Make sure you get your case number from them before they end the call, though, in case you have any more problems regarding this issue.

  • HT1727 I lost my old iPod and bought a new one. The old one had many of MY personally owned and legally bought CDs on it. I have those iTunes backed up ant now I can't seem to "synch" them to the new iPod nano.

I can't seem to synch my new iPod nano to the legally purchased music from CDs that had been on my old iPod which I've lost.
I had a backup of all those iTunes that I want to import to the new nano.
How can I "synch" the new iPod nano to the music I see in an iTune library? The new iPod nano displays "no music" and
    doesn't play anything.

    Hello PrettyinPinkInk,
You might consider restoring the iPhone, then removing the SIM card after activating the iPhone, so as to use it as an iPod Touch. This should prevent any unwanted association with a phone number, and thus, voicemail, as well.
