Nano does not connect to itunes

I have a nano ipod and it works well. I bought my son a 2 Gig ipos for xmas and I wanted to put music for him so it could be ready when he opens the gift however when I try to connect his ipod to the computer, the connection kept turning on and off after all this updating and registering. which I used my account I some how manage to put some songs to his nano. I ejected the nano through itunes. couple days later I wanted to finish downloading music into his ipod and when i connect the ipod itunes doesn't automatically come on, so I manually open itunes but his ipod doesn't show that is connected. On the ipod it shows that it's charging but not connection whatsoever. I dont understand what's going on. By the way I have first generation nano and I got him the 2 generation

Hi,
I kinda have the same problem as the person above. I have an Ipod nano 4G and it worked well until a couple of days ago. My ipod went beserk and I had to reset and delete my songs form the ipod. After this, itunes couldn't read the ipod anymore and therefore I can't put anything on it. I've tried to follow the steps on the support-website, but without result. I've installed the newer version of itunes, without result. I tried on a friend's computer, no result. I'm becoming desperate and I need help from someone who knows more about this than I do. if you think you can help, please don't hesitate.
Thx

  • Ipod nano does not connect to itunes and will not launch. Help please?

I was about to download some tracks onto my sons ipod nano when got the update message. I wish I had ignored it as my days have been taken over with scouring support, discussions and other sources to get itunes to launch. I have deleted, stopped, repaired and changed files. Nothing happens. No error message. Get the hour glass for couple of secs, thats all. Quicktime launches fine (also updated). Windows sees ipod hardware. What is going on? Granny is giving son an itunes gift card. As I have never allowed him to download tunes he is going to be thrilled............. except he can't use it!!!! I've spent way to many hours trying to find solution. Can anyone help me? Please?

Sometimes iPod simply won't work off certain USB hubs. If it works directly off the computer, then continue to use that. Your only other choice is to try out other hubs until you find one that works. Is it a powered hub?

  • HT202778 Why is it that when I plug my iPhone into my computer and press "trust", it disconnects my phone and reconnects it, and still does not connect to iTunes??

When I plug in my iPhone, it connects and begins to charge, then asks me to "trust" the computer. When I select "trust", rather than connecting to iTunes, my phone gets disconnected and then it reconnects again and continues to charge but does not connect to iTunes... I have tried restarting both my computer and my phone, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and I've also tried connecting my phone with different USB cables and connecting them into different USB ports... Still nothing is working.

That's how Apple set it up on the Mac.
There is a free application called iExplorer for Mac that allows you to view and copy files from your iPhone.
    Hope this helps.

  • Nano does not appear in ITunes or Finder; unable to re-set device

Suddenly my 2nd gen nano does not appear in ITunes or Finder. I looked up support articles and it says to try re-setting the Nano, but I'm unable to do that -- I press the center and menu buttons; have also tried the menu and play buttons but the apple logo never appears. I've had problems with the menu button "sticking" before, so perhaps that's why...Nevertheless, how else do I fix this issue?? I've been unable to sync or transfer my recent purchases, so this is frustrating....

    - however once i reached the crutial stage of
actually switching the 'terminal services' from
disabled to manual, I get an error message on my
computer "Error 5: Access denied" and nothing on the
site gives any indication of what to do in such an
    eventuality.
Do you have an administrator account on your computer? If you are not logged in as administrator, do so before attempting to change the to manual. However, I myself am having the same problems with my own ipod..

  • Since upgraded to 10.4.0.80, iTunes does not connect to iTunes Store

I recently upgraded iTunes to 10.4.0.80, and since then iTunes does not connect to iTunes Store anymore. There is no error message, the window is just completly empty.

I'm having the exact same issues regarding not being able to connect to the iTunes Store. Running Windows 7.
Additionally, my iPhone 3GS (32GB) and iPad 2 (64GB) will not sync when attempting to perform a full system restore.
Also running ESET Antivirus software. I tried the following from Apple Support and neither worked:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923
    http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN760
I completely uninstalled and re-installed iTunes 10.4.0.80 and zeroed out IOS 4.3.5 on each device.
Additionally, I went to Control Panels > Administrative Tools > Services and stopped and restarted "Apple Mobile Device" and "Bonjour Service".
NOTHING WORKED ... STILL NOT ABLE TO SYNC.
I AM HAVING REAL DOUBTS ABOUT PURCHASING THE iPHONE 5 IF THIS SYNCING ISSUE PERSISTS !!!

  • Ipod nano does not connect to Windows and itunes

    Dear All
in my family we have 3 ipods: a shuffle, a ipod 20gb and a nano. While the first 2 are easily connecting to windows and itunes, the nano doesn't and does not recognise the USB port of my laptop[message 'unkwnon device']. I have tried, I think, most of the suggestion I found on the apple support and in the forum. Does somebody know any 'special' tip, my son is really getting frustrated by this situation because he can't get the same music. Please help. Thanks in advance
    ciao

    Hello franbat,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your son's iPod nano.  I found an article with steps to address this:
iPod not recognized in 'My Computer' and in iTunes for Windows

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities.

  • Nano does not appear in Itunes. Most of the time.

Ah, I need help. I received my Ipod nano on Tuesday, and here it is Saturday, and it still isn't working properly.
    What it can't do:
    - Itunes does not recognize the Ipod Nano; under preferences, it says that no Ipod is connected
    - Cannot be found in Windows Explorer
    What it can do:
    - XP acknowledges it in the lower-right hand tray as a USB Mass Storage Device
    - Ipod Updater recognizes it; it is up to date.
    - It DID connect with Itunes early this morning; the nano was named and songs were transferred successfully. (however, upon trying to eject it, Itunes said that an application was using the files, and it had to be ejected using the Safely Remove Hardware icon)
-when I had it working, I set it to open Itunes whenever the nano was connected. It still does this, but Itunes doesn't recognize the nano that opened it.
    What the computer has:
Windows XP with Service Pack 2, 2 USB 2.0 ports, 2 USB 1.1 ports.
    What I've tried:
    - Reset, retry, restart, reinstall, but not restore. I don't really want to lose the only songs I seem to be able to get on it.
    - When reinstalling, the message that the Ipod nano needs formatting appears. Formatting never ends, often with the installation terminating with an error message (1628, I believe)
    - Updating Windows x 20
Any help would be greatly appreciated. sigh Thanks in advance!!
    Kelty Cusack

Holy guacamole! I got it to work! <3
The computer I'm on had at one point been used in a network; there are fragments of network info left.
    WHAT WORKED:
I changed the name of the drive of the Ipod nano.
    I followed the Windows advice at <a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://">http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;297694
I had to use command prompt and follow Windows Help instructions to get it to work.
Any issues beyond this, I will report...
    THINGS THAT HAVE CHANGED:
    -Itunes reads the Nano
    -Windows Explorer reads the nano
(much thanks to people who posted this on page one of this topic)

  • Ipod Nano does not appear in Itunes source

    Hi all
I have an Ipod Nano and an Ibook, however when i plug my Nano into my Ibook it will not appear in the source menu in Itunes, but the nano does appear on my desktop. I am using Itunes Version 1.1.2, do i need to up grade my Itunes before it will recognise my Nano? If so which version of Itunes will i be able to install onto an Ibook g3 500mhzx running on OSX 10.1.5?

Your version of Mac OS X is too old to use an iPod nano as anything other than an external flash drive; the compatible iPods with your configuration are the first through fourth generation full-size models and the original iPod mini. You need at least Mac OS X 10.3 before an iPod nano will show up in iTunes.
All compatible iPods must be connected through FireWire for use with iTunes in Mac OS X 10.15 regardless of the presence of USB connectivity on the iPod. iPods which require an USB connection are not compatible with your version of Mac OS X.

  • IPod Nano - Does not connect

My iPod nano - 2nd gen doesn't connect to the computer. When I connect to the USB port, the iPod gets charged but the computer does not recognise iPod (when I try to open through 'My COmputer" it gives a device error). Thus iTunes doesn't connect to it either

Have you had a chance to look at either of these troubleshooting documents? They may be of some help:
iPod missing in My Computer and in iTunes
iPod is not recognized properly by computer when USB drivers are not installed properly or are out of date
